Michael Wan's Mandarin Cantonese Restaurant in Blackpool

Definitely the best Chinese in Blackpool. Service and food is up there with the best, quality ingredients and perfect presentation. The waiter explained the options and I followed his recommendations. We will definitely return when back in the area.

between us we had the prawn toast ,sizzling steak in Cantonese sauce, beef in black bean, special chow mein and salt and pepper chicken all the food was lovely the beef was so tender you could tell it was quality . The prices a little bit expensive but I came out feeling it was worth every penny .Also the staff were so nice .The only thing that let it down was when ordering a soft drink it is only draught would be nice to have choice of bottle coke

Amazing meal at Michael Wan’s Mandarin this evening to celebrate my in-laws” Golden Wedding anniversary. Amazing food, and incredible service - attentive but not overbearing. Only my second time eating here - just wish we lived closer!!

Terrific service from friendly staff. A separate menu for vegetarians / vegans. Top marks for that. Lovely warm vibe in the restaurant. As to the food - excellent, with special applause for the satay skewers and the Sichuan aubergine and tofu. Beware of the massive portions! Wine is very reasonably priced and the selection is extensive.

Absolutely fantastic , all round . We visited family at Blackpool and met up there. God I’m spitting 🪶 feathers , I don’t live closer. Would be there every week. 😊 Only one flaw…..main course plates were cleared away. Ten minutes later WE asked for a desert menu, when we were given the menus,, We were told they wanted table back in 20mins ,, Quite off putting, then on felt we needed to rush! 🤷‍♀️ Maybe it’s best to take the desert menu to the tables as soon as you have cleared the main course plates and bowls . Michael Wan's Mandarin is by far our favourite restaurant in all of Blackpool. We have been here several times over the years and never once have we had less than a perfect dining experience. The food is always excellent, with lots of flavour and visual appeal. Service is always superb and the staff always take care to be friendly, approachable and attentive, whilst never hivering around and in-your-face. The atmosphere is always intimate even when the restaurant is busy - you never feel as if you are on show whilst eating. As always 100% (I'd give more if it wasn't mathematically impossible)

Brilliant staff, asked for recommendations and the waiter clearly knew what he was talking about. Made some excellent recommendations. Good food allergy information and good awareness of gluten free requirements. Best atmosphere in a restaurant I've been in for a long time. Thank you for a good night, will be back.

All the signs outside said it was open and the bill of fare said it was open but the doors were locked and the chef inside waved me away

Service was slow and there's were getting food before us even though we ordered before some who came in after us, salt and pepper chicken was tasteless, the chicken curry after asking for no veg came with veg asked for extra egg in my fried rice good job I asked for it as I felt like there wouldn't have been any in it.

Food was really good, we had a sesame allergy in our party and they were able to accommodate absolutely fine. Prices were decent and we went home having had a great experience all around.

Food was excellent. Portion sizes generous. We had the salt n chilli pork ribs starter - four huge pieces, a main meal by itself ! The Nasi Goring which was excellent but couldn't finish it. Great service, packed on a Tuesday night. Definitely go back again ! 26/03/25 - went back. Brilliant !

Food was all very good. Ordered and enjoyed family style, and the wait staff helped explain how many sides we needed. Large drinks selection. Seating and tables were comfortable. A minor downside is that when it is full, it can be a bit loud.

First time trying the Mandarin after hearing so many positive things for a long time. We had the Banquet A menu which is a starter platter followed by 3 mains and fried rice. Everything was excellent, really high quality, very fresh and tasty. This is about as good as Chinese food gets in Blackpool. The restaurant is very nice, service is good, everything is done to make your experience special. I will add, as this is a review, that you do pay for that extra quality. For the meal for two plus a drink each and prawn crackers as an extra, our bill with service charge was just short of a ton. I will definitely return for a special occasion.

Nice. Is it the best Chinese I've ever had. No. Is it good. Yes. Is it expensive. Yes. Is the decor nice. Yes. Would I go again. Probably no. Just because I've had better and a better value. It also didn't help that the waiter told me what i came in for wasn't recommended and most people leave it aside.

Fantastic visit here. Portions are massive and the quality is absolutely top notch. The service and ambience is second to none. A must visit in Blackpool.

We decided to try to get a table at opening time (5pm) on a Saturday and we’re successful. What a treat! We had a delicious meal, attentive staff despite it being busy. The lettuce wraps starter was superb with wonderful flavours and a great way to start the meal. We then shared satay chicken and beef with green peppers and black bean sauce, with fried rice. My friend reckoned the satay was one of the best she had tasted and the meat in both dishes was lean and tender. The dishes were well presented and we had plenty to eat. I look forward to another visit.

My husband and I visited Mandarins’s at Blackpool on the 22 nd of February we travel from Sunderland but it is worth the journey the food is amazing and staff are lovely from walking in to leaving the restaurant if I could give mandarins more stars I would definitely I would always recommend that you book mandarins well in advance they is also a service charge at the end of the bill but the food is worth it you will not be disappointed so give mandarins a visit

We didn’t have a booking but the manager offered to accommodate us at the bar and kindly set up a table for us. Beautiful food and excellent relaxed staff.

Return visit after a less than great previous experience: I can happily say it was back to previous good form. Great food enjoyed by all of our party. This time, we just didn't opt for that pork which was simply pure fat..!

Recently attended with friends, we all ordered the banquet menu and was disappointed with the size of the food portions, 2 portions of rice for seven people, 3 prawns and spring rolls cut in half. The main course was also disappointing in terms of size with very little food to comfortably go around. The beef was fatty and I went home hungry and we paid £40 ahead.

This place is incredible. The staff are So friendly and kind, and extremely professional. The atmosphere and decor is fantastic, they have really paid attention to every detail. And the food is delicious. I know this is going to sound fake but it really is just that insanely good, please try it. And tell them Ryan and Elisa sent you—and get a cherry lime rickey to drink! (Soda water, sugar syrup, grenadine, and then squeeze three lime slices in.)

Fantastic dinner again at The Mandarin. We have eaten here regularly for over 10 years and love it every time. The food is always delicious and the service is great - with particular mention of Josh who looked after us brilliantly and is so welcoming, friendly and efficient.

Very poor customer service and to see the sauces had vodka in and not everyone wants vodka,in lemon sauce there was,no other option. Plus when on medication you can't mix alcohol with tablets. Never seen vodka in lemon sauce in my life.

We went to the mandarin for a meal and were not disappointed. Duck for starters for me which was fantastic. Mains were first class. My wife had rice and curry sauce which she polished off , not always the case! I had chicken curry with special fried rice. Great staff happy to help in any way, even showing my nephew how to use chop sticks. Highly recommend

The best service of any restaurant in Blackpool. We had four courses on the banquet menu. Which consisted of soup, starters, three mixed dishes with rice and sorbet to finish. The food was excellent and service is second to none in Blackpool. The staff are amazing. We will be visiting again

The place is quite cozy, the dishes are exquisite, recommended, quality and price acceptable, it is not one of the best I have tried but it is acceptable

Wow what an amazing meal we had tonight, table of 7. Excellent food, top class service and a great atmosphere! It was my son’s birthday and they brought out some cake and sang happy birthday, as well as adding a balloon and banner for when we arrived! All unexpected! We all had a fantastic night, thank you!

We visit Mandarin whenever we're in Blackpool. (Sadly not often enough). Love the food and the staff are great. Best to book as can be busy. We have been going back for over 30 years. Got to be good. Still the best, great food today yet again had the feast this visit, awesome.

This is ridiculous firing Leilah smith she is on a 0 hour contract therefore if she’s sick she is allowed it off and no concern should be raised as she’s on a 0 hour contract, 1. She spoke to every customer even my mum even though Josh said “why didn’t you talk to that customer” when she knew my mum and did infact talk to her a lot, 2. She was very good at the job she did and the fact your firing her when your low staff is beyond me when she did the best job a waitress should do, she did everything and never sat there doing nothing she was always on her feet 3. You should have given breaks out when it’s illegal to not give breaks after a certain amount of time and she did this time yet never got a 10-20 min break this is ridiculous !

Best Chinese I've ever had. Amazing service, atmosphere and food. Have been here many times in the last couple of years and loved every visit! Tonight they had a group of terrible liars claiming that they had booked a table when they obviously hadn't, they were respectful and polite to them, even when they came back in for the 3rd time to ask for a table and complain. Poor example these Scottish people are setting. Amazing as always Mandarin!

this was my first ever time coming here. the food was wonderful and the service was AMAZING. the bartender that i believe was called Leilah did a wonderful job on my drinks and recommended me some. she did not disappoint me

Honestly can't find enough words to describe just how good Michael Wans Mandarin really is. This is probably our fifth or sixth visit and we never consider anywhere else in Blackpool anymore. The standard of the service, the ambience in the restaurant along with the quality of the food is all incredible. Starter Salt and chilli ribs - Superb. So tasty. Mains Crispy shredded beef - Superb. Beef melts in your mouth. Cooked perfectly. Not at all chewy like you often find with this dish. Sweet and sour king prawns - Superb. Delicious. I don't even like king prawns really but tried my fiancées and I would order this for myself in future. One thing to consider is if you do want to eat here, you will probably need to book a table a few weeks in advance. There are only about 10 tables in the whole restaurant so the slots get taken very quickly. Finally, if you let the restaurant know if it is a special occasion, they decorate your table/booth to make it personable to your occasion which is a nice touch.

Absolutely gorgeous, hands down the best Chinese meal we've ever had. The best service we've recieved in a long time too, very attentive, very welcoming and warm, friendly staff. We booked a table as we visited on a Saturday night and we're glad we did as many people arriving without a booking had to be regrettably turned away. It's clearly very popular, unsurprisingly. Without a doubt we'll be visiting again.

We have been coming back to Mandarin for just over 2 years and it never disappoints. We stayed upstairs and were taken care of by josh (I think?) And Peq and it was amazing. Peq was so attentive and welcoming, great service with an amazing sense of humour. We love it each time and will be sure to be back as soon as we can.

I booked in advance as I wasn't sure how busy it was going to be, a lot of people had recommended this restaurant. When we arrived we were shown straight to our table, which had been decorated with a banner and some flowers as I had mentioned on the booking it was an anniversary, which was a nice touch. The restaurant was a lot smaller than I had imagined. We were given the menu and left to decide. When our waiter came back I asked for the gluten free menu, which also included the Vegetarian and Vegan menu. Which is good as I'm a celiac and my wife is a vegetarian. The menu detailed everything that could be made gluten free plus all the vegetarian meals. We ordered our food and drink I ordered Chicken Sweetcorn Soup to start and Lemon Chicken, with egg fried rice. My wife ordered Spring Rolls to start and Salt and Chilli Tofu with fried rice. We also ordered Salt and Chilli chips between us. The starters were delicious and just what we needed. We were offered to wait a little while before our mains, which was a nice touch as so many places just rush you through. We were quite hungry so proceeded to the mains. Both mains were absolutely delicious. The Tofu my wife had ordered was amazing and I eat meat. The flavour and the texture were perfect. My lemon chicken was also delicious. To be honest this was the best Chinese meal we had eaten in years and we will be making a repeat booking. Amazing food, friendly staff and a great atmosphere.

We stumbled across this little gem purely by chance, and thank goodness we did! We were a group of four, wandering aimlessly around Blackpool on a Saturday evening trying to find a restaurant that could accommodate us without a booking, when we walked into a little place called Mandarin. Firstly, the staff here are simply amazing - every one of them that we spoke to were so friendly and welcoming. It was made clear we could only have 50 minutes, as 'our' table was already booked, but they were happy to squeeze us in. We are soooo glad they did, as absolutely everything we ate was spectacular! Despite the short time available, we were never made to feel rushed, and one of the waiters took time to point out some popular dishes on the menu before taking our order. Our group had a variety of meats including beef and duck and every mouthful was tender and cooked to perfection. The sauces were divine, and the sides too, so often overlooked, were just perfect. I can honestly say I've never eaten a Cantonese meal of this quality in my life. We were all blown away by how good it was! It's only now that I've returned home that I've discovered Mandarin is regarded as one of the best Chinese restaurants in Europe! What a place to stumble upon by pure chance!! I now can't wait to return to Blackpool, as I'll certainly be making a booking at Mandarin and will hopefully get to enjoy a little more time among the fabulous staff, and perhaps get to try even more of the delights they have to offer.

I visit this restaurant each time I'm in Blackpool. The food is always spot on. I value the menu for being more unusual and exciting than many Chinese restaurants. Staff are excellent with my daughter too.

The best chinese restaurant I have been to. The staff go the extra mile it was my husband's birthday and they made the table up with baloons and sang to him. Had a chicken and a beef curry these are delicious and the rice perfectly cooked. The service was quick and the restaurant is spacious. A truly enjoyable evening and will definately go again when in town. Recomend you book a week in advance they get very busy.

Ate here last week. Food was very good. We shared a Mandarin special mixed starter then a couple of chicken dishes rice and noodles. All cooked beautifully and not just your standard Chinese flavours. Staff were really friendly and attentive and restaurant interior had an upmarket feel. Would recommend booking as it was busy on a mid week night.

Absolutely fantastic food with friendly service. We enjoyed the special mixed platter starter for 2. Did ask and without fuss received an extra battered king prawn so we had a pair of everything. The dipping sauce was delicious especially the honey n garlic. Chicken in Black Bean Sauce & Sweet n Sour Chicken accompanied with noodles and rice to share. WOULD CERTAINLY RETURN AND RECOMMEND TO FAMILY AND FRIENDS

As someone who loves a great Chinese meal I couldn't recommend this place highly enough!! It was without doubt the best Tina and I have had ! The food was sensational not just the immediate cooking but the prep before Anyone going to Blackpool should give it a go if they love brilliant traditional Chinese xx

Excellent food, especially the salt n chilli ribs, great staff and a lovely atmosphere. My wife and I had three delicious items from the menu, but the ribs stole the show. Staff were very attentive, without being intrusive. This was our first visit but it won't be our last.

5/10/2024-Saturday. My husband took me to this Mandarin for our 1st night in Blackpool. From the start till the end of our dinner. Their service is superb, attentive, and welcoming. Thanks to all the staff and especially to Pauline. She is such an amazing, dedicated lady. The restaurant is busy, and she managed to give every table the same equal attention without any pressure. The food is very well presented, simply but delicious. Highly recommended ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Ive travelled all over the world trying different, chinese, cantonese and mandarin food. I have to say this place is up there with the best. I was welcomed by a lovely lady i think was called Pauline, her customer service skills phenomenal. So I decided to have salt and chilli ribs for a starter and wow!! They are the best ribs I’ve ever had. After a short break I had my main which was Crispy chilli beef (goh sin) for me I think it’s personally pretence saying this but it I would of liked it a bit more crispy, however Pauline asked me if my meal was nice and I told her what my preference was, she even offered to cook me something else, which I declined, I still ate the main course as it was still lovely. I really can’t fault this place, I’ll 100% be back. highly recommend it to everyone. For me this is one of it not the best restaurant I’ve ever been too. It’s the best service I’ve ever received anyway. Thank you so much Will x

Went to Mandarin as a 50th birthday meal for my mum with my family. The staff were amazing. Totally unexpected, but they had put up a birthday banner across the table and placed a small balloon on the table for us. It might be a small decoration change. But, it certainly was appreciated by us. Thank you 😊 The meal was amazing, too. I had a beef chow mein, which was excellent, but I was definitely torn between that dish and a lemon chicken dish. Definitely have to return and eat again.

Easily one of the best Chinese dinners I have had this side of the pond. The Mandarin Banquet is a bit pricey but worth it for the quality and amount of food. Highly recommended.

Having spent a really wet and muddy day at Preston we needed cheering up. We found this restaurant by accident and were very glad we did, what a lovely place! The service is excellent, so welcoming and attentive. The food is the best we have ever had. Really enjoyed it.

Stumbled upon this little gem after seeing a show at winter gardens and wandered around looking for somewhere to eat .Hadn't booked but this is advised as weekends are busy but they managed to fit us in .This has seating upstairs and downstairs .We got our menus straight away and got some prawn crackers and dips be advised these aren't free. Menu is lovely everything is covered . Ordered a bottle of wine and a jug of water and then placed our food order my husband had beef chow mein and rice and I ordered the soft shell crab .I love the fact they give you a little hotplate to keep your plates warm whilst you are waiting for your food .Food arrived hot and plentiful we shared most of it I like to try things I haven't before and the crab was lovely the prawn toast divine and my husband highly rated his meal .I love the fact they give you hot towels at the end of your meal .Staff very attentive and polite couldn't have asked for a better place to spend our anniversary meal we will definitely come back .

2nd visit to this lovely restaurant. We had spent the day in Blackpool with our sons girlfriends family visiting from Poland. They had never eaten Chinese food before. Ordered a banquet for 7 people - food was delicious and plentiful. Waitresses were all really friendly and even the owner came over to chat to us. Fabulous restaurant - highly recommended. We will definitely be back

Went to this restaurant this evening as they opened at 5pm. I would give the food 5* 100% but the service was even better than the food. It was an absolute pleasure to dine here. It was 1st class from start to finish. Would highly recommend and will definitely return. Thank you so much to everyone at the Mandarin

This was our second time dining at Michael Wan's Mandarin. The staff made us feel very welcome and the service was impeccable. There is a great menu choice and the food was delicious. My first trip out to a restaurant in 4 years to celebrate my 60th. No wonder this restaurant has been voted the best in Europe. From the moment you enter, you are acknowledged and welcomed. Instead of ordering the same food as I do in a take-away, my friends ( who are regular patrons ), advised me on their past experiences of culinary delights. The food was piping hot. I had Wonton soup for the first time, it was absolutely delicious. The five of us all picked and shared each others dishes, and everything was amazing, nothing was left. On a personal note, thank you for singing Happy Birthday to me, giving me a slice of cake, and the drink on the house to top off such a wonderful meal. Please thank all the staff for us. The best Chinese food in the north , and the staff always remember you which is a nice touch

Food was amazing and the service was top tier. Came here without a booking and they were so pleasant and nice they fit us in despite being fully booked. Food came out very quickly and was delicious. Really recommend this place, run by nice lovely people that deliver a good meal!

My favourite Chinese restaurant in thr UK. Food is always amazing. Gan bian dou in particular is outstanding. I'm in town annually for an event and the staff are always friendly and chatty. No matter how busy they are, they make time to make you feel welcome.

Lovely food and great service. Unhappy that you are charged £10 per head when you book the table , which is non refundable if you have to cancel. Very expensive meal and will probably not book again. There are other good restaurants in Blackpool at half the price. Also unhappy that a service charge is included in the bill , which should be discretionary, although this was pointed out by the staff.

Food was amazing. The service was extremely efficient & quick. The toilets are lovely. Cant fault the place & will be back. I dined with my 8 year old & he loved it too especially the hot towels you get for sticky fingers after your meal.
