Mezze at the White Lion, Portishead in North Somerset

Visited to get food from Saucey Griller. The BBQ food was really good for the price. We particularly liked the beef rib and marmite fries.

The friendly, proactive, well mannered staff really make this place. Chloe is superb and will go far in life! Food is decent, I recommend the buffalo wings. The atmosphere is hilarious, the Saucy Griller has (suspiciously AI looking) pictures of Gorilla's in suits on the walls. The pub is a lovely old building, the aesthetic inside is surprisingly American. Not bad at all. Worth the overnight stay in Portishead! Would definitely go again.

Fight kicked off in the beer garden but the rest of the night was nice, staff friendly also.

Spent my time there in the garden, whilst it was a nice space the seating is dated and a hazard you can only sit in the middle of a seat, as you would possibly send another person flying exposing screws

Went to eat at Saucy Griller in the Mill. We has a sharing tomahawk beef to share, wow, whats an amazing experience of delightful food great wine and butcombe beer. Also amazing staff.

Lovely social pub with a good selection of beers and food. While we where their they did have a issue with their till but trusted us to come back later and pay for the drinks we ordered. We used a function room for a meeting which was a nice size and was a reasonably quite space away from the main bar.

Didn't eat. Came to see a band called 'The Woods' which were excellent. Room to dance and it was great fun. Spoilt during the interval by the pub playing grunge music very loudly during the interval and refusing to turn it down

Served quickly, but pub almost empty when I went in late on a Saturday afternoon. Really wanted a coffee, but not available. Nice, private back garden.

Nice pub, acoustic are not it’s strength, nor it’s lay out when they have live mus.

Good pub, main reason for visiting was live music, which was very good 'wired for sound'. Intended to eat there first but on arrival was told kitchen was being refurbished, which was a little disappointing as it didn't say this on their website, having said that they did say we were welcome to grab a takeaway and take it back in (which we didn't do)

I was customer of this pub for a long time but not anymore. One day, I received a fine from the car park administration. Despite I showi they my tickets from the PUB and went to speak with the pub stuff, nothing changed. They talked to me maybe the registration plate machine doesn't work properly and I needed to pay the fine. You can stolen my money once, never twice. Bye.

Wouldn't go again. Came for lunch, the whole place smells like p*ss but we still ate there lol If you chose to get the beef burger just get it off the kids menu, we chose one kids beef and one off the main menu but they're exactly the same size (albeit the kids is half the price). My husband did say it tasted yum though. Kids chicken burger said it came with American cheesy fries and coleslaw - it did not. No heating on so all kept our coats on to eat.

Roasts not as good as they used to be, very sweet cabbage, hard stuffing and pork was grilled and tasted burnt like a bbq. Brocoli was raw, not nice at all for the price.

Used to be alright but not good now it has changed hands. Car park has to be paid for now and seems to be run by the mob. Locals seem to be avoiding it now and I think they have it right.

A hidden gem 💎 Most delicious burger and fries ever!! They currently have a great deal on for £10 - huge burger, huge portion of fries, coleslaw and pork scratchings, and a pint INCLUDED! Great quality food, super fast service and a lovely environment! Sat by the fire enjoying a beautiful burger 🍔 Really quiet too!

Came for a drink before collecting a takeaway. Extremely misogynistic, aggressive, nasty man, first berating someone on the phone ‘you need to learn some respect, don’t be a girl’. Then started to have a go at a female at the bar ‘this is my pub, how dare you drink in my local’. Absolutely insane. My Dad was an abusive bully, I was shaking with fear. Why don’t you take control and ban him?

Seems like a well run pub,l admit l only went for the music, Archalia was the chosen view of the night,not missing that!.l digress,The pub,l would say caters for a wide age group......even as old as me,comfy sofas to park yourself in whilst very good view of the band.Small but adequate dance area,outside areas to sit and chat and a very generous size car park.A little pricey for pensioners like myself but that the trend now in these costly times.Staff were courteous and reasonably friendly,very efficient but another body to help behind the bar would aid the waiting experience.All in all l would give it two thumbs up and a yes vote.Will l visit again? when a pub hosts the likes of Archalia and l was told Mike Bess the night before then their musical credentials are assured in my book.Eell done,The Old Mill.

Delicious roast dinner. I was not expecting it to be such good quality. Very impressed. This places deserves to be much more full of bookings. New owners have drastically improved the menu.

Place appears nice enough although if you plan on going to the Old Mill and use the Old Mill parking, hopefully you've read this review and...don't. Parking states it's for Old Mill customers although staff will make no effort to inform you that your car registration actually needs to be input somewhere, otherwise you'll receive a handy £100 fine. I ordered a classic burger with brownie dessert and both were good. It's a nice place with nice food, but staff seem unable to care less.

Visited on a Saturday lunchtime. They had Otter ale being served, as well as ciders and larger on tap. Polite staff and there was space to sit. Chips were lovely and homemade. Ham was cut thick and the fish had a lovely light beer batter. Reasonable prices.

Recently stopped in here for lunch and some drinks with my partner and had a delightful experience. We were served by a gentleman named Adrian and also had a chat with another man named Joe who were very accommodating. We will return guys!

Limited menu but the food was good although my wife said her chips were dry and my son in law left his so he obviously didn't think much of them either. My pasta was great and my daughter ate her chilli so we at least were happy. Puddings were very much to our taste steam puddings and custard went down a storm while I went for a lighter option a trio of ice cream which was lovely. Prices were good and the service excellent. I enjoyed the meal, the pub and thought the staff were welcoming and very pleasant and accommodating. A good experience

Visited the old mill for the first time with the walking group last Thursday , excellent service from staff member on duty (owner ) ? Very varied and tasty menu , had fish chips tatare sauce and peas myself followed by by Marshfield ice cream , heavy downpour outside have us the chance to delay our departure and relax and take in the atmosphere of this lovely old pub

Lovely Sunday roast before the England vs Italy Euro 2020 -good sized TV, seats in view of the TV and well socially distanced. The pub has lovely decor, comfy seats and good food. The staff were fantastic, really quick to serve and clear away empty glasses great local pub!

Pub is up for sale and it reflected it, interior very tired, empty when we arrived for Sunday lunch. Food took awhile to arrive and was ok, didn't stay to have a sweet

OK pub but lacking in atmosphere and overpriced drinks.

Always a fight brewing on a saturday night. Bouncers jump on it eventually but not too quick. Drinks and staff are lovely. Went else where in the end. May have just been unlucky of late.

Apart from staff we were the only people there.

Great place to go to meet up with friends and family. Food was delicious (I had the fish and chips) and reasonably priced. The staff are so friendly and helpful.

I have made a comment to you before.... About charging me 2 different prices for the same lager beer And to add further.. Charging me more for the bbq Than advertised. Also didn't say, now I will!! The bbq chicken was burnt And the chips, which I think you reheated in the bbq itself were cold The chef had a strop And you had taken over running of it. Enough said Ohhh!!!! the dj he was brilliant

Very expensive .. pint of Doombar ,pint of Coke and 1 fish and chips £21.00 dont catch me twice . In response to the owners reply .. when the meal eventually came it was a shrivelled up piece of fish with certaintly not minted peas but mushy dried up peas. The chips covered the plate which i can only assume was to mask the dried shrivelled fish and dried mushy peas. The meal was served a 8.30 pm so i assume end of the day left overs . In short not abit like the owner has described and really not wirth the price charged. Most certaintly fair to only award 1 star ..if that.

Food took a little while to come out, but it was all freshly made and tasted great. Service was good, and as a big family group there was plenty of space to sit.
