A very unique , gatsby / roaring 20s style restaurant with amazing, quality service and food & creative indoor space . A real coventry gem . A real shame they are closing down :(

Was there for a city host social event and was well looked after

Nice food for a Christmas meal, attentive service but lacked any real atmosphere but to be fair it was a Wednesday night

I arranged a meal for a party of 12. The staff were very attentive, the food was very good and it was a busy nice so the atmosphere was great.

Food was cold, I had mac and cheese, and pulled pork, bq sauce. Dessert was bicoffe cheesecake, with squirty cream out of a can!!! Very expensive for tiny portion

Once Brown's, now a very much "wants to be taken seriously " restaurant. Friendly staff - a good start. Interior could do with some attention. Vast selection on the menu (perhaps too much). My choice of a vegetarian burger was delicious, as was the salad and the crunchy chips. Portion is a little too large. My partner had a full-on meat burger with similar salad and chips. It is early in the week, so not busy at all. My only gripe is the constant music (from the 60 to 70s). Some careful inspection of the decor, more efficient heating, and a reduction in the menu needed .

Food was ok. Flatbread huge, you could easily share. The staff were lovely. Could do with cushions on wooden benches.

Good place to chill out in the heart of Coventry. Got a modern, cool atmosphere.

A good place, formally Browns, serves a couple of ales, a nice atmosphere with a friendly service.

Food took nearly an hour to arrive. Mac and cheese tasted like they had forgotten to include the cheese.

Once again I have had a lovely time at the Metropolis. I have frequented this establishment a number of times for many different occasions. The food has always been amazing and the staff are wonderful, always so helpful and smiley. Great atmosphere. Just perfect.

Lovely dinner on the roof terrace. Great menu, and also has loads of options for a couple of people in our party who were vegan.

A great menu with lots of options (including many vegan options which is appreciated) - we choose a selection of the small plates and everything was really good. The staff were friendly and even thought the place was quite empty they had decent music playing so atmosphere was better than we initially thought - would definitely return to try the main dishes

Nice bar with good though pricey food.

It's a hidden gem. So glad we popped in for a bite to eat. Probably the best eaterie in the city centre.

I booked Metropolis Bar for a family celebration for my 60th birthday. Dave and the team did a great job of looking after us from the moment we arrived. The staff were so helpful and friendly and all did a great job. All the staff were happy in their work and work so hard. Lovely friendly place for a meal and right next door to the museum where Dippy is. Would recommend a visit to the museum and then pop in to Metropolis for a bite to eat and a drink. You won’t be disappointed. Thanks Dave and the team

A but to loud and the food options can be a bit more versatile also I found it odd they only had turkey bacon. The waiter was really nice and tried to make our evening special. The bar guys were also great like the Devore and the mood except of the music it was bar level loud and not very pleasant to eat to.

Fish&chips were one of the best I've ever tried😍 it feels like green peas were even fresh, not boiled from frozen.

Attended a catered event here. Both food and drinks were excellent and the staff were friendly and attentive. Excellent venue and I'll certainly return.

Pleasant meal and friendly service

Just had a meeting lunch, the food and service qualities are improved. Still less options for kids and prices are relatively high.

Excellent food, normal, vegetarian and vegan. Great cocktails too and a decent wine list. One of the best places to eat in Coventry. Small but excellent wine list.

Interior decor designed really bad ! odd colour , messy . Nothing show Art-deco , which is the building original style. Building work , furniture show cheap poor quality, building work show poor workmanship. Shame the restaurant spent so much money, but used wrong designer

This is a good restaurant in a lovely building with attentive staff serving good, well presented food. The only issue was the lack of a decent crowd enjoying it. Crazy that this place isn't a lot busier, hope we had an unusually quiet night.

Came here with family, food portions are great and the drink selection was awesome. The young staff were quick and energetic.

Whilst you can relax or have fun or both, the lunchtime service is fast and welcoming. Contagious personalities that draw you back in. The great food is the bonus. I recommend the tempura fish sandwich.

Architecture wise, it's probably the best venue in Cov. Atmosphere is great and the food top quality.

Never been into this place before but came due to a business workshop session. I had some issues with the running of the workshop due to a large amount of miscommunication from their end and business protocols. but I want to say that the employees here made up for the accommodation in so many ways and couldn't praise them enough;; only missing a star due to the fact I didn't purchase any food or drink from here but will definitely pop in again sometime to experience fully. Thankyou for your hospitality.

Awesome, the food was great value, place was a little quiet, but the staff were amazing and so willing to help all the customers....the food was really good quality, cooked brilliantly and tasted amazing. Will definitely be going again.

Came for a large family meal between Christmas and New Year. Had the place to ourselves and the small group of staff working that night were brilliant, great service, and made us cocktails that weren't on the menu that we requested. Food menu could be developed a bit, but everything cooked well and no complaints about what is on offer.

Food was average, was seated next to a drafty window and had to move.

Unfortunately one of the worst vegetarian meals I've ever had and I've been a vegetarian since 1983.

Great Christmas lunch but short staffed so service was slow

Such a superb place! The service is exceptional and the food is exceptional too. I had my Christmas party there and I could not believe the food. It was such high quality. Not a dry bit of turkey in sight! Justin and the team make you feel very comfortable and very welcome.

Food was okay. Price was cheap enough to make it reasonably priced. Ordering the steak medium rare came out well done. Was told it would be free as it wasn't eaten. Still on the bill, was about to ask the waiter about it. Waiter instantly knew what we was going to ask before we did. So was just trying to get away with it maybe 🤔

Friendly staff as we entered.. Table staff too eager to take orders, ie not given enough time to look at LIMITED menu. Where we were seated was very cold! Long wait for food, had to go bar to reorder drinks. When food came, mine & another was lukewarm, another one of our party's food was incomplete. To be honest it spoilt my sons graduation

A wonderful place for a celebration family lunch! Post graduation 🎓 ceremony in our case. Great position just round the corner from the cathedral and university. Perfect service and lovely food.

The food was very nice but it did take a while. I had to change to another beer ad the purity Amber tasted off.

Food was excellent- I had steak and my partner had the vegetarian metro burger, which were delicious. Wide range of vegetarian options and well priced menu overall. The music was hilariously bad- club remixes of 2010s pop which definitely doesn’t fit the vibe of the establishment, but provided us with entertainment at least.

Great place to eat or just enjoy a few drinks in a gorgeous location. Always has a great atmosphere and lots of events too. Love it here!

Very nice lunch food was very good

Just been for a lovely lunch. The vegetarian and vegan selection is really large which I loved. I had the mac and cheese and it was one of the best I have had in a really long time. Really comfy chairs to sit on and all the staff were super friendly. Really enjoyed our visit and can't wait to come back again and try more delicious food!

Relaxed atmosphere, menu looked good for another visit sadly. Came back for the Sunday lunch, trio of meats, delicious.

What a gem! Clean, tidy, modern look with a welcoming vibe. Some really interesting artwork displayed all around 😀 Food was delicious - had a Metro burger and my friend had the vegetarian option. Perfect size! Juicy and delicious. Chips were awesomely crisp and the presentation (before I got my hands on it) was rustic 👍 We shared a crunchie and honeycomb ice cream dessert which I cannot fault. The Metropolis Garden cocktail was a hit - really refreshing and complimentary flavours and the Virgin mojito was one of the best I've tasted. Staff were really nice - our server was Summer who was friendly and professional, ensuring we had everything we needed. When providing us with the menu, she checked for dietary requirements. Great work, team ☺️

What a wonderful place to eat and drink, very friendly and helpful staff. Excellent choice of food for all dietary requirements. Large portions and 50% of the profits go to the charity! Not many places do that. Most of the staff are encouraged to better themselves. Clean toilets and surroundings. The only glitch was that the tables were sticky, this is not due to dirt or grime but, not wiping tables with a damp cloth now and then to get rid of the excess residue of D10 (industrial multi surface cleaner). I would highly recommend this establishment.

My friend and I visited on Monday 4th July as it was recommended to us when our meals came out it was uncooked, we had to wait for cutlery then we had to ask for a steak knife as we were given a butter knife to cut our steak we then had to wait for condiments which by this time our lunch was getting cold We’re sorry to say we won’t be visiting again this was my 1st and last time

We held a special birthday celebration at Metropolis yesterday and had a fabulous afternoon. The food was delicious, the cocktails were great and our servers, Rosie, Precious and Louis, were lovely - friendly, polite and attentive. Both the owners, Fleur and Dave, also took the time to come over and chat to us, which we really appreciated. We definitely recommend Metropolis, you won't be disappointed!

Great atmosphere and the vegan menu is one of the best I've seen! the food was cooked beautifully and delicious. Our waiter was friendly we will definitely be back. Thank you for my birthday balloon too!

We went today for Sunday lunch and very impressed with both the main courses, deserts and the extensive vegan choices. The staff were attentive and friendly. Will be definitely returning. A shame that it wasn't busier. .

Terrible service, forgot my main meal

**NOT SAFE FOR COELIACS ** We visited yesterday for their bottomless brunch and the service was so so poor! On arrival when handed over the menus, I ask if there was a gluten free menu to choose from to which the waitress responded "oh well there's a vegetarian or vegan one!" I had to quickly correct her to the fact I am not either of those. We had emailed them before going to specifically ask what the gluten free options were (limited and vague) but when we mentioned this to the staff they initially denied this. When further prompted they said all I could have was their half chicken which on their main menu is listed as containing gluten!! We then tried to show them the emails and the staff TOOK THE PHONE to prove this to the chef who, according to the staff, was annoyed by all this. We eventually got a few options and the salmon was nice. BUT, if you are recently diagnosed or are uncomfortable with challenging the staff in these scenarios there is a high risk that you may be glutened!! From the bottomless brunch perspective it was the slowest service I've seen, in the two hours we were there we had 3 drinks and that was with us actively trying to flag down the staff for drink top ups! Maybe it was an off day with the staff but it certainly didn't help salvage the situation.

We booked a bottomless brunch and were really looking forward to it. I had been in contact with metropolis and booked weeks in advance and had a special request of a gluten free menu which I emailed separately about. I also phoned on two separate occasions to check which menu we could pick from, both giving very different responses. When we got to metropolis, we were told the chef was only going to do the half chicken as he 'can't do' any other gluten free meals as they didn't know we were coming for a bottomless brunch. I explained I had an email to show the manager had told us what meals we could have and that was the reason we wanted to come (also on the menu, the half chicken is written down to contain gluten). Another waitress came over and asked if she could take my phone to the kitchen to prove it to the chef as he was being 'awkward'. She came back with my phone and said he has said he would cook the food from the email list. This made us feel like an inconvenience and made me feel really uncomfortable. We then didn't have our order taken for about half and hour and we didn't get out first drink until 30mins in, bearing in mind its supposed to be unlimited drinks for 2 hours. The waitress even came over and asked for our menus and then we said well we haven't ordered yet. They had completely forgotten about us. Food was okay. We could only have a select few drinks which was shown online but when we got to the restaurant they restricted our drinks choices further. Generally not impressed with how we were treated and the customer service.

Decent food and a good selection of beers staff always very friendly.

Called in for some lunch on the weekend. Staff very knowledgeable and polite. My wife and i both had a lovely meal, could not fault it.

Used to be a fave , but just based on Sunday afternoon visit and a couple of others its standards have slipped , food just about edible and overpriced .... the stars are for the building alone ... c,mon get it together shake the Cov eed hangover !

Visited for the first time today and we were really impressed! The young ladies who served us were friendly and attentive. They knew the menu well and we were overwhelmed by the choice available! We eventually went for a burger and a pizza. Both were excellent and very competitively priced. We'll definitely be back!

Most helpful, bank holiday Monday and everywhere closing early. Accommodated 4 adults 2 children and a baby + a well behaved dog at short notice. Excellent beer a food. A must visit

Visited here for my birthday and highly recommendable place! The ambience was really nice and fancy. Perfect for anniversary, birthday, or even a drink out. Food and portion was amazing but mostly price was really reasonable. Had a local touch on the ambience which makes it more authentic. Staffs were really kind and welcoming. I wanted to eat at Metropolis for my 40th as my hubby and I are vegan & my parents are carnivores so I knew Metropolis could cater for us all. The food was tasty but the service was so poor it was infuriating. Our waitress didn't know how to use her electronic pad and could not find the most basic drinks to add, she wrote them down. After a very long time waiting the wrong drinks order was brought up...in the meantime we were waiting to order food. It took about 35 minutes before we could give our food order and out of the 3 vegan options, the one i wanted wasn't available. We ordered 2 meat meals and 2 vegan. About 5 minutes after we ordered a waiter came up to say that the meat options were not available so my parents ordered alternate meals. When the meals came the food was tasty. When it came to dessert I asked our waitress which options were vegan. She didn't know and said she would find out. 10 minutes later she came up to take our empty glasses bur had totally forgotten that she was supposed to have found about the desserts. She said she would find out and come back. I then watched her go back to the bar and start to sing and dance with her colleagues for another 5 minutes. By this point I felt so frustrated I just asked for the bill. I will say that I did complain and the woman I spoke to was very apologetic and gave us a discount on our bill which I appreciated but I still felt so frustrated and disappointed. I was really looking forward to this meal and it was not at all up to standard due to the service. It was a sad birthday meal. I think the waiting staff need some more training for sure.

Lovely lunch for £6.95 and also saw Michael Portillo (Great Railway Journeys BBC2) with his film crew dining in! Lovely staff too. Will be back soon 😋

Had a lovely time here, I’m not vegan but the vegan choice etc looked amazing, wish I had ordered it now! The cocktails are great, atmosphere was really chilled and cozy. I can’t believe that 50% of the profits go to charity, how lovely that we have a place like that in our community! Staff are top notch, absolutely lovely experience, you must try!! I’ll be back very soon!
