Booked into self contained flat. It wasnt child friendly at all. So we checked out same day and Nadia in reception was really understanding, she offered a full refund. The flat also needs TLC.

Had a lovely time - the staff was amazing - even though the lift was broken they really assisted us with my disabled mum. The rooms were perfect for disabled individuals - even though the taps took some working out

I was only staying for one night on this occasion but will definitely return for a longer stay. The hotel was superb on every level and very affordable. A friendly face upon check-in, a spacious room with an excellent breakfast, located in a rural setting, extensive grounds set around a lake. One of the best hotels I've stayed in.

Amazing space to walk the dog, walk around the grounds with family. Lot's of parking and no charging for access to grounds or parking. Beautiful setting too for those thinking of wedding venues, must be worth a look..

Room was huge, very well presented, even though there was many doors and corridors to find it the directions were very clear. Didn't eat there but looked nice, had a drink in the bar which again was a nice area.

Fantastic travel conference with fantastic service and food, rooms quite tired and new some work, my window frame was rotten and falling apart, rooms just need a little more TLC. Breakfast was brilliant along with all the staff, so helpful and friendly, beautiful grounds and location in the country.

I will be honest the spa was more like a kids swimming pool, it was loud of full of children. They were jumping in constantly and splashing us and their parents did nothing. The room was immaculate and fine, nothing wrong with the room. Lunch was lovely We had a dinner package and then when we got to dinner we found out most things on the menu we had to pay extra for. We both ordered medium rare sirloin which was an extra £13.50 each, they both came blue. We ordered peppercorn sauce each and that was another £5 each. In total our meal came to £50 after we had already booked and paid for a two course dinner. I would rate the food a 1/10. Breakfast was also not good at all. All the staff were extremely polite and lovely with us, the room and staff are the only reason this isn’t getting a 1*.

We stayed for 1 night and had a very good experience. The Hotel is in lovely large grounds, if a bit out of the way down a long lane so plenty of walking available. We were in a Mews behind the main house on the ground floor. The room was large and well fitted out, but there was a musty smell on entering. The window had, however, been opened and the smell soon disappeared. There was no soap in the bathroom dispenser but otherwise all was good. We ate in, and despite some bad reviews, we were very happy with the service and the quality of food. Breakfast was very good with lots of choice. So overall, a good experience.

The location of the hotel and the spa were the main reason for booking, however on arrival we found out that the pool was closed. The booked treatment was very good and the staff were friendly, especially the lovely Polish lady, who my mum got on fabulous with. Unfortunately when it came to our evening meal, that was very different. My niece is lactose intolerant, as well as corn intolerant. We did ring ahead and was told that we just need to inform the restaurant staff, which we did. Unfortunately there was a very limited menu for her. She had also asked for a bowl of fruit for dessert, but was told as it wasn't on the menu, she couldn't have it, so she paid for a 2 course meal, but wasn't able to have it. Once we ordered we waited almost an hour for our drinks and main course and 45 minutes for dessert. The service was shocking, due to being understaffed. When it came to breakfast, all my niece was able to have was toast, with nothing on it. When my sister asked the waitress about specifics regarding the food, the waitress was incredibly rude. What was meant to be a relaxing fun time with family, ended up being stressful and leaving my niece very hungry and my sister very annoyed.

Would not recommend at all. Paid extra to use the pool and the pool was closed. Went to the restaurant which was massively understaffed, which resulted in terribly slow service. The food was awful, both myself and my partner ordered the chicken Jalfrezi which came out more like a soup with some veg thrown in. I didn’t have any bits of chicken in my dish which in hindsight appears to have been for the best as my partner has since had food poisoning although she suspects it could be from their prawn cocktail small plate. We didn’t even stay, we went straight home. Awful experience, no management. It comes across as if everyone is new there and just trying their best to get by

Having prebooked a room with a cot, and called the day before to check there would be one, we were disappointed to find there wasn’t one in the room. We were eventually provided with a folded travel cot with no mattress or sheet. The staff were very unaccommodating and just asked what they were supposed to do about it. The room also had a socket hanging off the wall. The staff at the hotel are uninterested in hearing about your experience and simply hand out business cards for their complaints contact.

The room was dirty and there were dirt marks on the walls. Of course, with such filth I didn't even consider using the bath or sauna. Anything in the spa is expensive, so I can't comment on the quality. The food is one of the weakest points. Lunch and dinner are overpriced and terrible! Thirty pounds for a steak that was badly done and definitely of poor quality. Some of the staff are extremely rude and make the experience even more stressful. I won't be going back.

We stayed with a groupon offer, expecting to be staying in the Hall itself and upgraded to an ultimate room .very deceptive as we were in a run down modern hotel at the side of it !..the room was clean and a huge queen size bed . The food in the restaurant wasn't what we would have expected and i left mine .The staff which are very sparse and didn't speak very much English, they all need a lesson in public relations ! The spa was part of our package but the pool was full of older kids jumping in and screaming ....the lad on reception apologised but did nothing to stop them ...changing rooms were untidy with dirty towels and spa gowns piled up on the floor , empty shampoo and body wash in the showers ... Needs a face-lift all the way round ....not the relaxing stay we had hoped for .......

This hotel is dirty, run down and stifling hot. Without air conditioning, they should provide each room with a nice sized fan. When we requested a fan, they did not have one and refused to help us out. Our rooms never cooled down making it impossible to sleep. The shower temperature gauge was broken, soap dispenser empty, and only one set of towels (which didn't matter since the shower was unusable without burning your skin.) The bed and other furniture is very old and uncomfortable. Don't ruin your vacation by staying at this hotel.

Ww came here for a spa day but didn't stay over. The check-in experience was quick, and the woman was really friendly. Changing rooms were small but clean, as were the toilets. The pool was well maintained, but the decor could have done with some work with parts of the ceiling damaged. The pool was fairly shallow, so it was not suitable for anything more than relaxing. Sauna was tiny but clean. the steam room was about the average size. Afternoon tea was delicious with very tasty sandwiches, cakes, and scones. Also, a great selection of herbal teas on offer.

Needs major investment. First thing I noticed when I pulled up was how dated the guest buildings looked and the poor state of the external windows and doors. I had a premium room which was spacious but well-worn. Grounds are stunning but the whole place screams of near dilapidation. Mercure are custodians of a treasure but are doing the bare minimum to protect it.

We’ve stayed before and came back as it’s so convenient, the apartments are great for groups as have a lounge space and small kitchen. They had plenty of tea, coffee and milks sachets for a morning tea. It’s only 10 minutes from Sainsbury’s too so we got food for breakfast.

My daughter surprised me with a spa day on my birthday 27th March , i was looking forward to this , afternoon tea was lovely , but felt the crisps from the bar were overpriced , pool was nice + warm unlike the showers that were cold , treatments were fantastic + the ladies that gave the treatmeant were lovely , the only downside to the day was the cold shower before leaving , also there was a mouse sized hairball in the drain , which considering there wasn't a lot of people there that day makes me wonder if it is being cleaned properly, i do hope that you can address these issues as we were thinking of booking again , but shower temperatures are putting me off a little

Lovely hotel grounds but if you don’t love the sound of slamming doors and thin walls I would not recommend. Slamming doors from the hall and your neighbours shake your room and keep you awake all night! Would not pay over a £100 for this stay unfortunately.

Arrived for a two night stay with breakfast as a treat for me and a family member, very disappointed with the room , the mattress on the single bed very uncomfortable, hot water very noisy when running bath or shower and sink. Hair in the bath. Very cold room on arrival with a musty smell. Breakfast was terrible the lack of some very basic traditional foods . Long wait times for bread to arrive, long wait for hot and cold buffet. Very poor indeed. Very limited evening dinning menu. Set in such a beautiful location not cosy at all in the bar area or restaurant, no music played at all ,simply no atmosphere such a shame so much so we paid for two nights and only stayed one night . The leisure facilities very basic and dirty , two changing cubicles for a lot of people but my biggest disappointment was no jacuzzi facilitie. Infact it has spoiled my weekend. Homewood bound.

Enjoyed our stay. A lot of positives, Cracking place for wedding, lovely back drops. Conference rooms galore, A lot of negatives but try not to let it spoil the stay. Our room had double doors boarded up. Window frames rotted away. All unable to open. Dining in was good at breakfast poor at evenings. Over priced small portions. Think half as good as weather-spoons at twice the price. Shame really, bit more effort could have been on the money. Had a better time on second visit but we’re in a better room. They have not made any improvements to the rotten rooms. We had been assured the improvements had been made. NOT. The manager that had assured us had been replaced ! They seem to be running a massive operation with few staff but more chiefs than Indians. Full of self importance. Blind to the major problem’s.

After some initial back and forth over email regarding a misleading Buy A Gift voucher, I visited last month on a spa day with my sister. Whilst the spa treatments were great, there were aspects of the visit that were less polished. The leisure and spa facilities were basic, but sufficient. As the facilities are part of the wider hotel, they’re shared with hotel guests, including children. We were told to just show up for our afternoon tea when we were ready which didn’t sit comfortably so we went over to the restaurant to make them aware of when we wanted this. It appeared that they were expecting us to be booked in for a specific slot so there had clearly been confusion. We also wanted to buy a coffee in the main hotel building, but there was very little atmosphere - no music playing, no staff behind the bar, and once we’d found somebody to ask, the service was slow. The afternoon tea itself was nice, but again, there was limited atmosphere. The location and setting is beautiful and we enjoyed a walk around the grounds. The older part of the building (which is used on a lot of the Buy A Gift material) is worth a look as the spa day itself takes place in the modern part of the hotel.

A hotel set in wonderful surroundings, but hampered by a design decision that means some of the rooms have a connecting door. And as a result your sleep will be a lottery depending on how noisy your "neighbours" are as the door is no barrier to sound. My "neighbours" were extremely noisy most of the night, including keeping the TV on. I appreciate the hotel cannot control the behaviour of its guests in the room, but they can make sure the doors are soundproofed. Service in the restaurant was ok, shout out to the one waitress who was super friendly and helpful. Food was very average.

Awesome, so, so good. We recently performed our Nikah wedding and we came here for our honeymoon. Definitely worth it. A great stay for couples. I definitely recommend it for couples as it has romantic nature walks, buildings, swimming pool, great cuisine, nice and friendly service. We can't wait to visit again in the summer. You may need a car to get to the town centre as it is a remote area so it may be hard to get a taxi there and back to wherever you need to get to It is nice, peaceful and quiet. We enjoyed it so much, me and my beautiful wife that we stayed for one extra night. I hope you find this review helpful. If you have any questions at all about our stay, please ask. 😁

We took two interconnected rooms here and through the entire booking process, interaction was seamless. We came to visit Stratford and this was conveniently located. There are three things that are most special about this hotel: 1. The first part is that every single staff member keeps smiling and that is so pleasing I cannot tell you! We thought that is the city thing, but I can assure you that it wasn’t. Our maximum interaction was with restaurants staff who were outstanding! Booking process was smooth and interaction was seamless. Reception staff, housekeeping- everyone just gave a very friendly vibe… in fact- I would go back to this property for how good and friendly the staff was- if not anything else. 2. The location is awesome! It’s conveniently located at 20 minutes drive from Stratford. This is less of a hotel, more of a resort… Extremely well maintained for such a large Property. I was really surprised to see the level of cleanliness in winter. 3. Dessert 🍨- all I can say is that it would be a crime to visit this hotel and not have everything from the dessert menu… Now- three minor issues happened, which are to me anomaly and frankly the staff was so nice that I feel guilty in giving four stars overall… but it is what it is: 1. Both the days we were staying there, there was no macaroni cheese available from the kids menu. It was important for the younger one. 2. On day 1- even Tortilla chips were not available… that meant that only Garlic bread was available for kids starter menu- and that wasn’t bread, it was naan 😊. Like I said, staff was very flexible and helpful in giving us a few things out of the menu so we managed it without any issues. 3. My girls wanted to do something crazy and part of that was going for swimming after breakfast and then going for swimming again before dinner. Unfortunately, on day one, that couldn’t materialise because there was a power failure and the swimming pool was not operational till almost 11 am. it was all working fine in the evening and the water was nice and warm.

Restaurant room in the Mercure Hotel we were staying. Both breakfast and evening meals served here. I've never been here before, but over 5 days, there could have been a better choice. No staff asked about allergies and most meals had tomatoes (our allergy). Young staff from abroad, hard understanding Scottish accent.

Such a lovely old building, very friendly and welcoming staff, with one particular lady who couldn’t do enough, carrying my heavy case upstairs (thank you). We attended a reunion party in the pubs separate function room earlier in the month. The team laid on a special “in a basket” menu which was both well delivered and priced. We decided to visit again for a spot of lunch in the bar / restaurant the following week. My better ‘alf is a veggie and despite the general view that the veggie brigade is expanding .. it’s surprising how many pub/ gastros merely have a single consolation veg. Option on the menu these days . HOWEVER the golden Cross offered several 😎 varied choices . The” Lady minister for all important decisions “. Settled on the veggie pie of the day - i went full hog and went for the home made faggots. I have to say the food was prepared with care , the portion size - proper!! In short . We really enjoyed it . Oh! And the service smily and attentive. Safe to say we’ll be back
