Walking around Spitalfields looking for somewhere to eat, we came across this restaurant and were immediately attracted by its lunchtime menu and the fact there were plenty of tables free. Service was friendly and the food very good, with portions large enough to satisfy a lunchtime appetite.

This bar is located in the busy Spitalfields market. The decor is dark and wooden, alongside a more vibrant beer garden. The atmosphere is relaxed and friendly. The staff are attentive and reasonably quick with the service. The staff handmade cocktails and there is a large variety on offer. The key thing is the drink deals and prices that are good for London. I had to double-check prices on many occasions as I am used to paying over the odds for the drinks. I highly recommend the spot when visiting the area.

Very casual, comfortable place, little dark. Service was crisp and the food in good portions and tasty. Staff were prompt without being intrusive.

Took a few people from work and thoroughly enjoyed the food, wine and other drinks! Very friendly and great table service. We opted for the ribeye (thurs steak night) which came with a choice of sauces and side dishes The food was amazing without fault!

Party of 11, pre booked food. Very long wait for main course. Items missing, we were told ‘chef had a different menu’ (what, no potatoes with the dish?) and they just deleted one main altogether. Did get it rectified and the bill discounted but all took far too long. Restaurant was practically empty so no excuse for these mistakes. Will not return.

Went a party of 11. Had been 12 originally, then 1 cancelled so we were 11. Ordered food a week in advance. Arrived at 1pm, main course served at 2:20pm. Only 4 in our party had a starter. One meal never arrived. When we asked for us they told us WE had cancelled it. We said we cancelled 1, still left 11, but they had prepared 10 meals. Argued with us until the penny finally dropped (no apology but a grudging and bad-tempered concession to remove from bill). Fish dish arrived without potatoes. When queried were told "we're checking" - no apology. When we showed them the menu, they said, chef had a different menu(!!) which did not include roast potatoes with the fish, but he would make some now. I asked whether that would arrive when the fish was cold, or when it had finished. Potatoes arrived boiled, not roasted, half way through my meal. Waiter complained about me to another member of my party(!!) saying I had been rude. Never heard of a waiter complaining to one patron about another. All in all dead average food, expensive and rude, unpleasant and incompetent service. Avoid avoid avoid

Was looking for a cocktail Order one, no ginger beer, Ordered an alternative, no coffee I was a bit put out, I said that it was pretty poor. Maybe I should put a poor review in Tripadvisor. I more senior bar person piped up “ why? “ . The first bar person was nice and apologetic. The more senior one made a point, I guess to show her ire, started the slam glasses in front of me at the bar. I told her that I knew what she was up to. She said she didn’t know what I was talking about (gas). She had already dropped the “uncomfortable” line. I left before she dropped the “misogamy” line. She knows what happened

Came back and still a great experience as always! The menu sharing plates are perfect for a Friday date night - especially the prawns! The menu changes every couple of weeks and I'm always so impressed. Will be back!

Merchant & Weaver in the market is a true gem! Their sandwiches were incredible, bursting with flavours. The cocktails were also just as superb, and the service was impeccable. Can't wait to return for their happy hour! Highly recommended!

Booked for Sunday lunch and received an email confirming our booking for a traditional Sunday roast including roast potatoes, Yorkshire pudding and seasonal vegetables. However, on arrival we discovered that this was not an option and the alternative ‘Summer roast’ on offer was not the same at all. The chicken burger chosen instead was awful.

Awful. Booked a table for Sunday lunch. When we arrived we said we had a booking and got told to go and find a seat somewhere. We sat there for ages with no service so went to the bar to order drinks. Had to ask for a food menu which was slammed on the table by a waitress and off she disappeared. We waited and waited. Nobody else was eating in the restaurant, only drinking. In the end we walked out and found somewhere else to eat. Terrible service!

Don’t usually write reviews but I had the best evening here I feel I must! Stumbled upon the place and what a find. The venue itself is cosy yet vibrant and the staff were all so lovely we ended up staying for dinner! The jerk chicken was 10/10 and the tacos my friend had were excellent, will be back very soon!:)

Really unpleasant experience. I went here with my friend, we planned to use the toilet then order some cocktails. We were rudely told we should have let the manager know as if that's normal pub etiquette. The other lady queuing for the toilet let us know she had received the same rude tone, we all left without using the toilet or buying drinks. Disappointing!

Such a nice spot for a drink, also the menu is delicious! Especially the taco Tuesday menu. Going to be the new local for a taco and a marg!

I booked Merchant Weaver for a large group of us to celebrate my husbands birthday. The staff were great, decorating the table with banners and balloons and generally really accommodating. We had a set menu and everyone was happy with their choice of food. All in all a really good experience in a great location.

Disappointed doesn't cut it. The whole experience was absolutely horrendous. The description of the food flatters to deceive. 3 tiny fatty ribs on a bed of bland carrot mess is supposed to be a fantastic starter. The lamb neck was served on what I can only describe as a splodge of Extra thick tasteless double cream (supposed to have been mashed potatoes). Service was appalling. Our waitress was more interested in having her friend take photos of her new tattoos than pay attention to the customers. £160 for 2 couples. Shocking.

Did not have good service at all. Genuinely confused how the other reviews were highly rated, zero people talked to us when entering the establishment. Waited 20+ minutes for drinks, upon arrival they were not good (bitter, not mixed well, blah- believe me we are not picky). When paying, way overcharged double. Really disappointing because the atmosphere had potential.

My daughter and myself had come into town for the Van Gogh exhibition and we were having a mooch around looking for somewhere to eat for a late lunch. We had had had a chat with one of the guys from here in the morning as we were looking at the menu and we decided to go back and give it a try. That was the best decision we made that day. The staff were very friendly, the food was delicious ( best carrots I have ever tasted) and the drinks went down a treat. I would highly recommend a visit. I’m looking forward to coming back with my husband and son.

Stumbled across this place one evening and so glad we did. Wasn't overly busy which is a bonus on a Saturday night. Nice selection on the menu. We went for pork loins which were wonderful. Attentive service and nice drinks. Highly recommend.
