Beautiful Turkish food! Wonderful staff. Will be definitely be coming again!

The couplet we wanted chicken came twice as lamb. This of course could be a mistake, it is not even a mistake, we are not unsympathetic people, but my guest had to get up before he could eat anything. We were even embarrassed when you said that you wanted to offer it as a package to compensate for this, but at the end of the story, anyone who does not bother and packages the lamb couplet is not the right person for that business. This is clearly treating the customer as an IDIOT. :)

Portions are really very small !!! Even kids meals are larger in the other restaurants. I had to pay £21 for 4 pieces of meat and small rice and salad !!! Also red lentil soup was the worst part of my experience in Great Britain.

I had a disappointing experience with my Deliveroo order from Mehmed Grill and Meze Restaurant. I ordered food for two people and added baklava as a dessert. Unfortunately, the portion sizes were barely enough for one person, and to make matters worse, the baklava I was looking forward to never arrived. The quality of the delivery and service was extremely poor, and it left me regretting my choice. This was by far the worst delivery experience I've had. I hope the restaurant takes feedback seriously and improves both portion sizes and attention to detail with orders.

Visiting this restaurant was a great experience. Charming ambience. The food was beautifully presented, flavoursome and simply amazing. I had the aubergine pide, which I really recommend. The service was really great and friendly. They were very accommodating and even had great vegan options. We loved the traditional Turkish tea, the yummy dessert and the on the house starter. Their kindness and generosity made this a special moment during our Edinburgh visit. Thank you so much!

Tuvimos una maravillosa recepción en este restaurante muy bien presentado, el personal era increíblemente servicial, les formamos que estábamos asistiendo a un concierto en The Queens Hall, unos 150 metros de distancia y estaban en una escala de tiempo apretada. Ellos tomaron esto a bordo y nos trajeron nuestra maravillosa comida y bebidas. Gran ambiente, gran personal, buena comida y grandes bebidas. Nos encantó nuestra visita 😁❤️

El personal era muy amable y servicial, que era muy necesario que fuera nuestra primera experiencia verdadera de un restaurante turco. La comida era increíble, de principio a fin. Recomiendo encarecidamente la baklava que tenía un fuerte sabor a nuez. El ayran (una bebida encantadora, cremosa y de yogur) funcionó muy bien con el Pide. Ten en cuenta que estás en una gran comida aquí : )

Arriving earlier than expected to Hue & Cry 40 concert at Queens Hall we came across this amazing Turkish restaurant. We only had an hour to spare & hadn't booked but were lucky enough to be welcomed by the lovely restaurant team. Service was excellent, staff were so lovely & friendly & the selection of startes & mains we ordered to share was exceptional. We unfortunately didn't have time to fnish our meal off with the Turkish tea but will be an excuse to return..although no excuse needed as we will definitely be back and make sure we've booked & enjoy a relaxing lunch/dinner without looking at our watches. Thanks again for making us so welcome & enjoy our 1st visit to your restaurant 😊xx

Absolutely terrible. It takes a lot for me to come on and write a bad review but we just received a deliveroo order. We ordered a mixed grill with rice, chips and aubergine. It was freezing cold, chips were missing and I’m assuming the mixed grill at £28 would be for sharing the rice portion was undercooked, plain, and a portion size for 1 child never mind for sharing. £47 this was what a joke!

I’ve been a few times, some of the best food I’ve ever had and the staff are very lovely.

First time here, food was sooooo good, bloke serving us was so helpful and friendly. Wish we’d been here before! We just shared some starters and a baclava dessert and everything got devoured. Definitely coming back again. Highly recommend 👍

Rlly nice of them to give free lavash, and it was quite well executed too. The herb butter that came along w it was esp impressive Shakshuka's(cold aubergine dip) aubergines were flavourful Mixed cheese and minced lamb pide was very well toasted, soft and super comforting. The lamb ribs were especially impressive, unbelievable flavour, no stench and very crispy We paid 13.5nett per pax, which is immensely value for money given the quality of the food. The only complaint is the waiting time, the food took about 20-30mins to come, although given the quality of the food it's very understandable Must visit

Came in at 7:30 pm on a Monday evening when there were very few customers. We were tired and hungry after a walk from Newington to Duddingston and back. The host was welcoming, all of the menu looked appetizing, and once we had ordered our dishes were served very quickly. Chicken shish, minced aubergine with tomato and peppers, lentil soup, and a large round of naan-like bread with herbed butter, olives and a tomato dip. It was exactly what we wanted, and all of it was excellent.

Super nice wait staff. Lighting was beautiful. Provided huge bread plate that was delicious. Had chicken shish and lentil soup, roasted humus. Everything was delicious.

Great food, we had a liver starter and baba ghanoush then a mixed grill for 2 which came on a bed of rice all enveloped in delicious flat bread and accompanied with a crunchy salad. The dressing on the salad cut across the flavours of the meat. It was all delicious. There was a lovely atmosphere, the staff were friendly but gave diners space. Also love the decor, the Turkish light shades are gorgeous. Recommend.

El aderezo de la ensalada corta los sabores de la carne. Todo estaba delicioso. Había un ambiente encantador, el personal era amable, pero dio espacio a los comensales. También me encanta la decoración, los tonos claros turcos son preciosos. Recomiendo.

Overrated and overpriced with very poor service. We had to wait a long time for the food to arrive. The portions were very small, and the food was tasteless. The hummus didn’t taste like hummus but something else entirely. To top it off, the dishes arrived cold. We ordered kunafa after the meal but left after waiting around 15 minutes for it. PS: £20 for a single skewer of minced beef.

Located in Newington. Memed has been serving up delicious Turkish food since 1989. The restaurant is very spacious and doesn't at all feel like they have squeezed as many tables as possible in. Every table is served up delicious breads, dips and small mince style pizzas as a complimentary starter. This was absolutely delicious and I couldve ate that all night ( or until I couldn't any longer ! ) Along with this, our table of 5 had chicken wings and cheese stuffed mushrooms as the rest of our starters. For mains we ordered chicken breast, lamb shish, 2 chicken shish and a lamb steak. Everyone was in agreement that the food was fantastic. Piping hot, well cooked and super tasty. For desert, we ordered some wonderful Turkish Tea's and ice cream. In keeping with the theme this evening..... again we enjoyed everything served up. The staff are very friendly and happy to help you out by describing dishes and explaining the various flavours. I would definitely go back and try some of the other items from their menu. Would recommend for anyone wanting to try and authentic feeling Turkish dining experience.

We stopped here by chance on a visit to Edinburgh and we were really impressed with the high quality homemade food. The owners were lovely and my son was delighted to find a children's menu which suited his tastes. We had the babagnush and flatbreads for our starter which were absolutely delicious. Then we all had different lamb or chicken grilled meat combinations. Everything was absolutely wonderful. To finish off the meal they offered you a complimentary glass of Turkish tea.

We were greeted very friendly with six people. With the starter we ordered, we received a greeting from the kitchen, which was very good. The main courses were also very tasty. We were given a box to take the remaining food with us. There was a free glass of tea at the end. We were all very satisfied

The restaurant is quiet and elegant The dishes were large and delicious, and the grilled boneless chicken was delicious, but the rest of the grills were delicious, and the appetizers and meat with dough were delicious.

I just walked around the neighborhood when I saw Memed Barbecue Grill. I walked in, the host is very friendly. And surprisingly the food was very good. Excellent. Will sure to come back.

Excellent food with exceptional customer service. Good value for money when you come here. My family enjoyed the lamb chops and cleared all its meat off the bones!! Other meals on the menu are delicious as well. Highly recommend if you want authentic Turkish food as this is a Turkish owned family restaurant.

The interior design is amazing, those colourful turkish lamps make you feel you stepped in another world. The chicken kebap was very tasty, my partner had the mixed platter with lamb. Would not recommend the wings, too pricey for what they are and the salad needs some seasoning . Will come back again.

Second time here, amazing authentic food. First time had yogurt kebab, now the mixed grill. Generous portion of bread, lahmacun and dips for starters, and main was delicious. Wine was delightful as was the dessert: baked cheese with a sweet crust, pistachios, honey and ice cream (forgot what it was called, but it was buttery, creamy, nutty, sweet, sticky, yum!). Service was authentic and funny. Will come back!

We had the feta roll for starter alongside the free starter given which is flat bread and dips. We then had the mixed grill for 2. All were so good, the mixed grill comes on a platter with salad and mixed grains and rice covered by the flat bread word can’t do justice to how tasty this was. ABSOLUTELY STUNNING! We will be back

It is a really good Turkish restaurant in the town. Everything is so authentic and fresh. The ayran was homemade which was a pleasure to sip on. Must visit

The food is excellent, but the prices are higher than the menu pictured at 5-8 pounds, which was already expensive. Also, our order was very late until they attended it. Food was very good, but prices were too high, almost £5-8 more than the posted menu, which is already high. Also our food got too long time to be delivered. Won't repeat the experience with them again.

The food was so good! But what I really loved was the service. It’s a great place to sit down and have conversations at without the space being too loud. The servers were so kind and friendly that it really reminded me of home. (Im a tourist from the States). This is definitely a restaurant being put on my list to recommend for travel buddies!!

Our first visit ! Definitely not be the last . Excellent food and service . Waiter was fun . Restaurant /toilets were clean. A few people were in for dinner. Got busy just as we were finishing staff maintenance being attentive through out our meal. It was a lovely atmosphere . Friendly service and nice inside but the food was average to be honest.the lamb and chicken shish both lacked the charcoal taste and the flavour of verdo.the salad doesn't have the same variety and the bread is just normal sruff that you can get from the supermarket.its definitely not the best in Scotland as they claim. Verdo is still the best and I've been going there since 2015!

Zu später Stunde suchte ich noch nach einem guten Abendessen auf dem Weg zu meiner Pension. Im Memed hatten wir neben Vorspeisenmixteller und Adana Spieß ein gigantisches Pide. Wir schafften die Menge einfach nicht, haben noch einen Frühstücksimbiss mitgenommen. Essen war gut. Laden ist sehr schön orientalisch eingerichtet, das Personal freundlich, die Preise auf etwas höherem Niveau. Insgesamt empfehlenswert.

Late at night I was looking for a good dinner on the way to my guesthouse. At Memed we had a gigantic pide in addition to a starter mix plate and Adana skewer. We just couldn't manage the amount, so we took a breakfast snack with us. Food was good. The store is beautifully decorated in an oriental style, the staff is friendly, and the prices are somewhat higher. Overall recommended.

While on Vacation in November of last year to the UK my travel partner and I had the pleasure of eating lunch and dinner several times while in Edinburgh. Memed: A Taste of Turkish finesse in Edinburgh We were invited by a warm server while checking out the menu outside the restaurant. We opted for lunch meal ane some ala carte options. The menu has a lot of variety, but it's the chicken and lamb shish that steal the show. Cooked to perfection, they were succulent. We ended with Turkish tea, a fragrant delight that perfectly complemented the meal. Presentation was well done with each dish served with care and attention to detail. The atmosphere felt like fine dining. There however, was one minor misstep. The Turkish pizza, while flavorful, suffered from a slight sogginess. Overall, Memed is worth every penny. Disclaimer: the Turkish coffee and pizzas were complimentary.

Food was lovely and the customer service was nice , although slightly disappointing. We went with the whole family on Eid and we we were the first customers and wanted to order off the lunch menu, however we were told that it’s not running for the 3 days of Eid which we understood . But it was disappointing when we saw some other people ( not Muslim ) allowed to order off the lunch menu , just didn’t seem fair .

I like Turkish food: the starters were falafel and lentil soup, both great. As mains, I had a grilled seabream with fries and vegetables; the fish was a little bit dried, but not bad (is a tough job to surprise a Portuguese guy with fish dishes), and my wife had mixed grilled lamb and chicken, very well done, my old daughter had an aubergine pide, very good and tasty, and my young daughter had a mince lamb kebab, superb! About desserts: baklava with ice cream (really good), vanilla ice cream (just normal). A Turkish coffee and a Turkish tea (what an experience).

Memed was a very pleasant surprise. I had heard from people that it was good but didn't know it would be that good. The food was very fresh, you could tell it had literally just been made. We were given complimentary flat bread and pizza. Which was delicious. There was also complimentary Turkish tea after the lunch. My shis kebab main course was great aswell. A lot to eat for a lunch time but that's not a complaint. The stand out part of the meal was the excellent customer service provided. Very friendly and welcoming. If you are in the area I would say this is a must try.

Had dinner in here last night after a few recommendations. We were not disappointed at all. The food was tremendous and portion sizes spot on, free bread starter was a bonus and we had shared hot starter and also mix grill for 2 which all food was very tasty. Would highly recommend this place in the food alone. The service to was also of a great standard, very friendly and welcoming and could not have done any more for us. We will happily come back here again soon

How to explain you in words??? Is impossible to leave in words the tastes we have tried. I can guarantee you that the mixed girl is one of the best I ever tried in my life. The lamb is divine, what an amazing way to go to Turkey without leave Scotland. Thank you to all the staff and owner for all the service and attention with us. We will return for sure.

You are in an oriental environment, we arrived in Edinburgh at 9.30pm. Finding a place to eat at that time is a bit difficult. Near our apartment, we were the only customers. But welcomed very cordially by Mira, we ate well for our tastes.

If you want to feel like you are in Turkey, come and come. Refreshments, warm welcome, brother Mehmet's friendly conversation. The food was truly great. I recommend the head soup and the lentil soup separately. Kebabs and lahmacun are great. I haven't tried the others but I'm sure they are great. Real Turkish Cuisine. Thank you for everything

Booked this restaurant for 17 people on Saturday 9th December for a group of friends who played football together for over 30 years. I was initially drawn to it due to seeing the social media posts displaying the large food platters and the general theatre and ambiance. I have to say that you often wonder whether the actual experience will match what’s advertised and in this case it most definitely does. A fantastically relaxed, enjoyable atmosphere and the staff could not have been more attentive. Then there is the food, to a person everyone enjoyed it, the big platters are a meat overdose and just simply top drawer. We had a couple of vegetarians within the group, they were catered for superbly and we all thoroughly enjoyed our night, cheers.

Overall, my experience at Memed Barbecue Grill & Meze Bar was exceptional. The combination of delicious food, warm atmosphere, and great service made it a memorable dining experience. If you're a fan of Turkish cuisine, this place is definitely worth a visit! 😋🍽️
