Very lovely service, there were 12 of us and they got us all seated. We enjoyed some tea and coffee before heading off. Will be visiting again!

L'endroit est assez petit, des tables majoritairement de deux, mais une fois placés le service est rapide et aimable. La nourriture est basique mais de bon goût, ce qui était le but recherché...

Came here with my friend who was visiting me for our acai bowls!! so so incredible, amazing portion, variety of toppings and overall experience. beautifully decorated place and the delightful owner ( riccardo!!) was so accomodating and lovely. truly amazing place i’d really recommend. riccardo laughed when he saw me and my friend scream when we saw victoria street and asked if we wanted to come in for breakfast.. like duh we went on a 20 minute trek to get our acai bowls here!!! ☺️💓

We came as a family with two babies and had avocado toasts with poached eggs, pancakes, and granola. Everything was excellent! Good service and very kid-friendly. Highly recommend!

A delicious breakfast, our first visit to Hula. We ordered the avocado on toast and the avocado and salmon tartare, fresh ingredients, a good portion size and the service was friendly and quick. We ordered 2 Falafel wraps to take out, very fresh and packed full of flavour, perfect!

Loved it. My virgin Matcha and I don’t think will be beaten. Ricardo was the perfect host. Thank you.

We found Hula as we walked around The Old Town in Edinburgh and were starting to get hungry. I ordered the Peanut Chicken Poke bowl and when I say it was the best chicken I have ever tasted I mean it. I will have dreams about that chicken. I also had a side of garlic mushrooms and they were amazing! The flavours were just incredible, the staff were lovely and the bright colours and relaxing atmosphere is just what you want while you take some weight off of your feet for an hour to eat and go back to continue walking. I will definitely be back!

What a wonderful start in the day for a single traveller. Delicious food. Attentive and friendly staff. Laid-back athmosphere.

It's a country of fish and chips, but I was feeling sick after eating only fried food, so I was so happy to eat fresh food here. The acai bowl was delicious, and the poke was delicious too! Oh, the ginger lemon tea is very spicy!

The pancakes were incredible and the staff are amazingly wonderful, welcoming, and friendly. 10/10 recommend this place! Plus it is in on of the most prime locations to start your day seeing Edinbrugh afterwards!

Had a lovely brunch here with my mum today, the staff were nothing but friendly, funny & welcoming (didn’t catch the man’s name, potentially the manager/front of house)! Great atmosphere, very tasty food (Acai bowls were fab), and overall wonderful experience - would for sure go back & would recommend!🫶🏼

Love the gluten free options and, as a coeliac, it's my go-to stop in Old Town for food that I know is safe, filling and healthy. Thank you for not charging more for gluten free options!

Had to ask 3 times for our table to get cleaned. First our juice came when there still was plenty of food from the previous guest. Then they came with our food and we still had to ask to get the messy table cleaned before they could put our food on the table.. All the other tables were messy as well and people around us also had to ask for their tables to get cleaned. Food is okay, but nothing special. The avocado toast is just avocado on a toast. Not much flavour. The orange juice was really nice.

This is the second time I've had breakfast at Hula and the Chai Lattes and the Scottish porridge were amazing both times!

Super-delicious bowls and a wonderful smoked salmon avocado tartare. Plus they made our 4yo a babycino fake coffee which kept her happy through the whole meal!

We waited 1 HOUR for our food. Even after asking 3 times it did not come. The staff didn’t bother helping us. When wie FINALLY got the food we were disappointed: it did not taste good, the portions were so little and the manager who brought it didn’t apologise at all for the long waiting. Not recommended.

I have lived in Edinburgh for most of my life and never been to Hula but I recover a delicious ginger juice at New Balance from the incredibly knowledgable and kind Ricardo. He advised me of the many options and now I have visited Hula to get more tasty drinks and lunch items! Thanks!

We waited one our for our food and had to remind the staff twice to bring our order. The food was mid and not even fresh, the workers rude and the overall atmosphere just very hectic and stressed. Would not recommend!

Great, I highly recommend it. The service is really nice, they have various types of matcha - with raspberries or blueberries. Right in the center, next to Victoria Street - and open from 8:30 :)

Seriously guys, serving drinks in plastic cups in 2024??? This is really a no go. Food is good, coffee is good. Update: Well, okay it is not plastic but still you need energy, water, other resources to produce it. And its single use. Why not simply use glas? Its also not nice to drink your juice out of a cup that feels like plastic.

Totally cute shop, visually really nice. The cappuccino was delicious. Unfortunately the service was stressed and in a bad mood. ;)

The waitress was highly unprofessional. First, when serving the latte, she spilled it all over the saucer and completely ignored the mess, even though it was clearly flooded. Then, while cleaning the table next to us, she placed the cleaning spray on our table without a word! We eventually had to ask her colleague to remove it. On top of that, the taste of the Biscoff latte was miserable. This place is completely overrated. I couldn't take a picture of my saucer before.

Pleasant meals and helpful crew

Cafe with a beautiful green interior and multiple veggie options. The food was quite average and a bit too salty (tofu scramble namely). The soup of the day (broccoli and almond) serves way too small portion for a lunch. Didn't fancy the loud pop music either. Or the fact that plant milk comes with an extra charge. However the prices were reasonable for the location, and only an optional (not mandatory) service charge a huge plus.

A good place for tasty vegetarian food. The host took us to the table and the order was quickly on our table despite the crowds. Scrambled tofu and halloumi wrap we ordered. Very tasty. We enjoyed the food very much, added with fresh orange juice. Highly recommended!

Before I get into the review I want to preface by saying the staff were so incredibly lovely and accommodating! The service was great, so this is not a reflection of that, but rather the quality of ingredients. So for any upper management reading this, please get better ingredients lmao... I ordered the salmon and avocado tratare and the salmon poke bowl. The sourdough bread that came with the avocado tartare tasted just like white bread and lacked the quality I would've expected with the price. A poke bowl shouldn't have strands of smoked salmon, but should come with fresh/marinated diced salmon. This, honestly, was the worst poke bowl I've ever had, and I came to the restaurant on an empty stomach... it was too salty and the flavours didn't really stand out at all, apart from the saltiness. The menu didn't flag the avocado tartare came with vinegar, but the staff was kind and retoasted the bread for me without vinegar. I imagine the smoothies or wraps might be better, so don't let my review put you off, but I strongly would advise looking for a different place if you want good poke bowls!

Food was very fresh & service speedy despite it being busy. Music is a bit dancey & loud for breakfast but def the vibe they’re going for. Clientele a mix of hipster locals & tourists (given proximity to castle). Would recommend!

Fantastic place! The menu isn't very extensive but the dishes we had were fantastic. The staff was very courteous to us, especially the Italian boy. We stayed in this one in the grassmarket, so right in the center.

Such a nice and cozy place for breakfast and cafe🤍 I recommend the “egg on toast” and ask them to add pesto, and thank me later 😂🤝

The food was very healthy, taste- wise was average. There is great potential to improve flavour. I am most appalled by the service. The gentleman who was leading the service was loud and a bit rude. My order was mixed with someone else's.

This place cannot be clean, literally swarming with flies. Had to leave immediately after being served as there were flies everywhere -above our heads, all over the walls, tables and cutlery. Unsure what the problem was but cannot recommend due to sanitary reasons

If you like breakfast bowls, this is the places to go. The acai bowl was TDF and the apple crumble porridge was excellent as well. Best to accompany anything with one of the invigorating juices.

Good food but the wait is much too long, the service is not well managed, it's a lottery to be served. Small quantities for these prices.

We stood 8 minutes in the doorway before we were acknowledged. They were absolutely busy, but to be ignored for so long was embarrassing. We were about to leave but were offered a table so went in. Ordering was fine, menu looked good. Chai latte was awful, just a watery mess. Acai bowls had the flavour and oily consistency of melted butter. Very bland and boring. When leaving, there were many customers stood around the entryway. We asked the person making coffee if we could pay here. She said yes and when she thought we weren't looking, pulled a face at us and rolled her eyes. The person that served us was lovely, they did a great job. Everyone else though, terrible service and terrible attitude. Didn't say anything to anyone working there because after seeing their responses to 1 Star reviews on Google, I knew they wouldn't care. Save your money and your time, go somewhere else! Plenty of lovely places along that road to get a meal.

Very tasty healthy food, seasoned just right, very good smoothies and juices.

Very mixed, food not bad but not exceptional. For example, the avocado toast is really an avocado crushed on a slice of bread for £12.95, if you want to add something inside it's at least £3. The smoothies and milkshakes are not bad. Overall everything is OK but expensive for what it is.

The Falafel were so hard, I couldn't get through with a fork. The matcha latte with raspberries didn't come with the raspberries. They didn't clean the table from the previous guests until we asked them if it's possible to remove all the leftover dishes, although they already brought out food.

We left disappointed - in everything - the quality, presentation and taste of food. The pictures are deceiving. Don’t expect to be presented with a decent plate of food. The tofu scramble was full of raw ginger and tasted horrible. The acai bowl was watery and bland.

A good selection of dishes for a breakfast or brunch. However, the prices for some dishes are questionable. The furnishings are rather plain and simple. What I don't like at all is that the drinks are served in paper or plastic cups.

The food is not extraordinary. Also, they don't bring the bill to the table, just the machine with the amount. And it asks for "tip". As you can not see what was included... Did they include the service charge already and also asking for a tip?

Very good service and food. We had breakfast there three times during our stay. Good variety of different bowls, porridge or toasts. Everyone of our company could pick their choice, vegan, veggie or whatever…Coffee was great. I liked the ginger shots 😀

Had breakfast here as loved the look of the menu. I got the Apple Crumble porridge which had lovely flavours but was swimming in maple syrup which was a bit too much (perhaps would be good to serve this on the side so people can add the amount they want as I appreciate everyone is different?). I also got the almond matcha and raspberry latte as well which was nice. Quick and friendly service. Will definitely be back to try something else.

Not impressed unfortunately 😕 sat for over half an hour before asking waitress to chase up our order, it then came out immediately. It was cold. Sent my soup back to be heated up. Ate my sandwich. There was no pickles in it though the menu said there would be. No apology for the wait or the cold soup. Quite crammed in, almost sat with people on next table, lots of noise from behind the counter. Did ask for sandwich without bbq sauce, unable to do as all sandwiches are pre made.

Delicious food, lots of vegan choices. The açai bowl was really nice for breakfast. I also tried the almond raspberry matcha which was nice and a little different to one’s usual cup of matcha. The only negative is that the place gets really crowded and I don’t think they’re prepared to accommodate many people as the service was incredibly slow to get some drinks and breakfast.

Staff were friendly and the coffee was great. We did enjoy the smoothie bowls however the frozen part did lack flavour which was disappointing. The toilets were a bit off putting too.

The cake was dryer than I would have liked, the lemon and mint tea infusion was tasteless, the black tea came without a dish to remove the tea and the rice bowl had decent toppings, but the rice was unsalted, watery and overall unpleasant. A lot of staff, some standing around, service was lacking if nice. Won't be going back there.

Coffee is incredibly good. Food is very lacking, little to no flavour. Porridge was dry and too solid... I bet I could use it as cement to build.

I visited today and the service was amazing, I got the açai bowl as I had been wanting to try jt forever. It tasted decent but I haven’t had any others to compare it to 😂.

I loved the porridge and the granola bowls on previous visits but the poke bowls were a bit miserly. Had to order a side of avocado to give it any dimension. Should have had more freshness, maybe the slaw. Prices toppy too, but it's in a tourist trap location where I imagine the rent to be eye watering , so probably understandable. Juices not anything near as good as those at urban angel. Service a bit chaotic , not helped by lack of physical menus, which when half the clientele don't speak English, causes a log jam to order at the counter...ill considered choice

The two ladies are kind-hearted and have great attitudes, especially the one wearing a white vest. The eggs Benedict are particularly delicious.

Delicious and refreshing beverages. An exciting and nutritious menu. Many possibilities that are plant-based. Amazing service and staff. You can also buy prints and patterns that are just stunning.

After many scones and pasties this was a welcome breakfast experience! Grabbed an acai bowl, yogurt and granola, and avocado toast with a couple of lattes. Favorite breakfast for our six year old and the adults liked it too. Added bonus was the free wifi in the cafe and the very kind staff. Definitely recommend!

Convenient location in an iconic tourist area. The food was okay, however, most of our food was cold when it was served even though it wasn't busy when we went.

(Ordered to go) I feel like I’ve been robbed, I actually feel like asking for a refund it is that ridiculous. £17 for a bit of toast with avocado on top & a few mushrooms ( & a latte) all to take away. They forgot to give me the distinctive topping which differentiates it from just ordering toast with additional toppings which would have been half the price. What a waste of money, really not worth that price, it’s actually shocking. I only wanted a small breakfast (avocado on toast) to take away as I was staying at the hotel across the road for a quick 10 hour work layover. Despite the ridiculous overpriced toast, the staff were really lovely, the food tasted nice for what there was of it & the cafe is cute with a lovely vegan menu & acai bowls. I really think they should re-evaluate their takeaway menu & value for money. I don’t mind paying £10-15 on a nice dish but for what you get is just a joke really. Also the turmeric latte which I ordered was decently priced at £4.50 & had nice turmeric spice flavours but also tasted like a cup of sugar? Wouldn’t recommend for a quick light breakfast to go, would only go for a big lunch to sit in etc. (Don’t be fooled by the picture, there was only avocado on one slice of toast & the leafs bulk it out) it was tasty though, again, for the few bites I could get out of it. £17. 💔😢

Een leuk klein tentje aan de voet van Victoria street. Het interieur is vrolijk net als het personeel. De sapjes zijn veel en smaakvol, koffie is goed. Ontbijt is mooi opgemaakt, vullend en zeer smaakvol. Alles wordt met zorg bereid en dat is te proeven.

Food was OK, very very slow for a juice and a coffee when there wasn't a lot of people in the restaurant. Only comment I will say owners you need to open the shop for longer, a lot of people were wanting to eat there after 3.30. I would also open earlier so people can come for breakfast. 8.30 is a little late and again heard people complain, so missing out on money! Tables also need to be cleaned sooner it looks terrible with all the tables out the front dirty and full of dirty plates.

This is much third time dining at Hula, and the food is outstanding every time. The blueberry matcha is amazing! Although, the service sometimes lacks. The staff are very friendly! although it usually takes a long time to get their attention in order to grab the bill or get assistance. When the music is playing, the atmosphere is great!!

Even the best places have their "off days," but this was a bit too much for me. The service today was terrible, mainly because of a single guy. I came for lunch by myself and ordered an avocado toast and a juice. I first sat at a table that still had food remnants from previous diners. When the food arrived, there was no cutlery (!), so I had to stand up and ask for it. Another annoying thing was that every table was served tap water except mine. I reached out to a waiter (a relatively young guy with a mustache and a bored expression, clearly annoyed by his job) asking for water. After two minutes, I was given a completely dirty glass (and I am not a picky person). I had to stand up again and ask for a new one. Without even apologizing, he left and, after a few minutes, returned with another glass, which he left on the table in silence. To add to the whole comic situation, when paying, I was even asked for a tip. The food was good and, luckily, another girl serving food was very kind, but this guy felt really out of place.
