Unassuming gay pub in a quiet neighborhood. Fantastic selection of craft beer from all over, funky decor, interesting and unique spirits, and really friendly staff who made it a very welcoming place to be for 3 out of town lesbians.

We were on a bus 🚌 trip from the Microbus Gateshead, and the station east also Gateshead railway quarter great atmosphere friendly bar had a great time

Great pub with an excellent range of craft beers. No food served but you can order takeout.

It's a 3.5 out of fairness. Beer selection is off the charts and it's very welcoming to all but the interior is a bit tired and run down. They have a lot of edgy posters which are amusing but it only makes the bar feel more dingy. On our visit it was also incredibly loud - due to the nature of the single room pub all it takes is one group of loud lads to ruin the atmosphere.

Excellent selection of beers - lots of dark stuff in the winter. The staff are really nice. Feel very safe here as a queer person, confident everyone would have my back if someone gave me grief.

Brilliant pub with a fantastic selection of beers on tap. The service is always friendly, I love the decor and it’s inclusive and welcoming to all. On my last visit the other day I also got to sit outside which was great.

Went here out of our for great reputation for it’s selection of cask ales. Unfortunately my wife and I had to turn round and walk straight out due to the strong smell of mould. I’m totally amazed by its high Google rating bearing this in mind.

I like this place. At least I want to like it… independent beers, inclusive and alternative.. but that’s twice I have been in and the bar staff have been grumpy AF.

The owner was very friendly and helpful, unfortunately we weren't able to sit and enjoy our beer because of the smell coming from all this black mold that surrounds the place.

Firstly I absolutely have to acknowledge all the strong 5 star reviews and point out the fact that it was terrible weather in the middle of dry Jan. 3 stars for me on this visit said with huge love and respect. I really do get the local vibe and this is fabulous. As for 'inclusive' ...shame on any bar that isn't. I wish this was more of a given. For me, this is a classic case of needing to know when less is more. 25+ beers for a pub this size...in January? 95% 4-6% pale ale with slight American hops? Cask was struggling through lack of throughput and it all tasted too similar. The local beer wasn't great....this time. For me, the bar overall just felt tired and physically rather cold and damp. I genuinely do wish you all the success in the world and thank you for having me!

Hi Have been to Dreadnought many times always good but on 26th of October my four of my family went in for a drink and were meeting six others later but the bartender owner’s wife accused us on not saying thank you for our drinks very rude if she had taken off her woolly hat so she could hear properly we did say thanks ,we cancelled meeting our friends and went to another pub , her abrupt attitude cost her approx £500 spend won’t be back shame regards Alfie

the staff are really friendly and helpful the pub has a great atmosphere and is also clean and cosy!! a great choice of different beer ales and lagers from around scotland also there is a pub quiz friday night .. you have to book a table as the pub can get real busy dog friendly which is a bonus ...

Friendly and welcoming, good service good drinks, good chat. Everything a neighbourhood needs. Nice range of beers, microbrewery locals and european well-stocked.

We happened upon this lovely pub while exploring Leith and had a few pints of draught lagers and ales which we drank outside on these unique tables, since it was a sunny afternoon. They made it clear with signage that all orientations are welcome. The bathroom was especially clean, as well. If we were locals, this would be our spot.

Excellent bar with an excellent range of beers. There's IPAs, red rye, stouts, porters and other drinks. You can also order pizzas from a local restaurant, which are delicious.

Have never loved a pub like I love the Dreadnought. It's beautiful both inside and out, with big windows so you can watch the sun set behind Chancelot Mill. The gantry (allegedly salvaged from a church) is a thing of beauty, like the stern of an old ship. There's great artwork on the walls (including those in the toilets). There's a beer garden on the bridge outside. The beer selection is almost certainly the best in Edinburgh, with a range of styles, a great choice of cans and plenty of low/no alcohol options. They have close ties with the Brass Castle brewery in Malton but also stock beers from all over the UK and beyond. Also great: the staff, the music, the folk that drink there, the frequent charity initiatives. They don't do food but you're welcome to get a takeaway and eat it at your table. They'll even order it for you. Would have given it six stars if I could!

A vibrant and welcoming pub with a huge selection of beers and ales stocked from local and small independent breweries. I wasn’t quite sure what to go for on my first visit as I’m generally pretty set in my ways with pints, but was guided to try something new that after listening to what I’d normally drink, the staff thought I would enjoy and they weren’t wrong. Very knowledgable about their craft and such a chilled vibe. There’s usually a mix of regulars, locals and folk popping in for the first (but definitely not the last) time and all are made to feel at home. Great artwork on the walls, plenty to read on the back of the toilet doors, hugely inclusive, dog friendly and some great quiz nights. The beer garden on the Pride Bridge outside in summer is fantastic, spacious and still keeps the welcoming feel of the bar indoors Well worth a visit.

I love this pub! Excellent choice of beers (local and otherwise) and on the odd occasion I’ve had wine, it’s always been lovely and a good price. Really friendly staff and loads of dogs which is always a bonus.

Cracking local pub, great atmosphere and real community spirit. Was a lifeline during the pandemic as they utilised the bridge as a beer garden, meaning I could meet friends safely outdoors.

The Dreadnought is a great pub. I like the style of the place, has a nice old school vibe. The owner and the staff are all nice, they have a good sense of humour and serve with a smile. The locals are a welcoming bunch too. This is very much a craft beer pub, so plenty of options in that regard, and very reasonably priced. Overall its a cracking wee pub that I would love to visit more. I live on Easter Rd so it's a little bit of a trek for me, I will aim to get down there more.

This is my one of my favourite pubs run by such lovely people. Atmosphere is relaxed and feels like home. You could easily spend all day here. I come for the cider and it changes regularly and is always delicious!

The Dreadnought is a lovely pub, and the staff is friendly, inclusive, and knowledable. Their beer selection changes frequently and is reliably good. Plenty of options for people who don't like beer, or want something more specific. Edinburgh isn't exactly short of bars, but the Dreadnought is my favorite one. Being vegan, it can be difficult to figure out what drinks are vegan-friendly, and bar staff is not always aware of which beers are vegan. I've had plenty of times where I had to google beers myself to make sure. This is not the case in the Dreadnought. There are plenty of vegan options and they are clearly marked. Beyond that, I often ask for recommendations and it's always met with enthusiasm. I've had some really great beers based on their suggestions, some that I likely wouldn't have found or tried otherwise. The Dreadnought is an award-winning gem of a pub, with lovely staff. If you haven't been yet, it's worth a visit.

Reasonable prices for decent beer in a seaside garden

Great selection of alcohol free beers, just had one in the beer 'garden' which is a section of blocked off road across from the pub, which was actually very pleasant, knocked a star off for charging £3.50 for a 330ml can

Amazing place with the best atmosphere and beer selection. Everyone there is incredibly helpful and nice. Got to taste a couple phenomenal beers before choosing one that is a new favorite. Even got to try one of their local brewery beers that I would highly recommend!

Great Quirky pub,amazing selection of beer,nice punters

Great selection of beers and the fella running the bar was hapy to engage with us. We had a pleasant time that was only slightly marred by the staff member who thundered about and had some underlying issue with our group. A someone who has worked in hospitality their whole life I found this somewhat repellent, we weren't asking for smiles, but we got the hipster shrug off/eye rolls every time we tried to communicate with her. It takes so mch more energy to be surly, why bother? For a place that has such a great selection of beers this is a great shout. They have a decent space outside and are dog friendly. Just cant be arsed with the attitude. Toilets were in good condition and they're on top of social distancing and keeping everyone safe. As my first expereince of this pub I'm not sure I'd come back.
