MELIS RESTAURANT WIGAN in Wigan

Really tasty food, on the pricier side for Wigan but didn't mind since the food was tasty, good portions and good service. The restaurant was nicely decorated but it was quiet when we went. Would go back.

From the minute we walked in we were made to feel very welcome. The decor is wonderful. The waiting staff were excellent. The food was fantastic and so much of it. Highly recommend this place.

Amazing food and outstanding service. The waitresses were super polite and attentive. Courses were served quickly and everything tasted fantastic. We were entertained by a lovely lady doing a belly and swords dance. I'd definitely eat here again.

The best place ve ever eaten. I've been 9 times since it opened and it NEVER disappoints. DANIELLA is such a people person and remembers us each time we come in making us not just a number. Very personal touch. Everything on the menu has blown us away. Well done.

I booked a table for 2 as it was my birthday for 8 pm as we read some good reviews about this restaurant and upon arrival we were shocked to see such a beautiful restaurant but totally empty with not a single customer however we were welcomed by a charming waitress and given a table. We ordered cocktails which arrived on time and were good however the starter was quite salty so we thought it could be one off. We than received our mains after a long wait and were shocked to find the poor quality of food the rice was uncooked and the meat was like rubber unchewable and the chicken was inedible. We were so disappointed that we cancelled our meal and paid for our drinks and left. Our celebration was spoiled although the restaurant is beautiful and the waitresses were excellent. Sad about the food though

Went to Melis today by happy accident - and we were blown away by the great atmosphere, superb service and absolutely delicious food. Its really trendy and funky design interior made us feel a million miles away and was so fun and eclectic. We ordered the meze platter to share and my hubby was really hungry and wanted the mix grill platter as well. When it came to the table I was giggling because there was so much food! We really would have been fine with one dish - the portions are very generous. They were so kind to wrap up the remaining food for us to take home. The halloumi melted in your mouth, as did the various meat dishes - it was all so tender! There was a party and a birthday party at different tables and we happily clapped and sang along with them - it just led to a really great ambience. Hubby and I have decided this is where our next date night will be and if he has to take his boss out it will be here!.

What a fabulous evening we had at Melis. The good was delicious and the service was great. I would highly recommend.

We have dined here tonight for the second time. First time round was not great but tonight was like a completely different restaurant. The food was amazing, tasty, hot and fast. The atmosphere was great. Last time the music was really loud and we struggled having a conversation but tonight it was turned down after the Turkish dancer had finished, the atmosphere was really good. Service was excellent. We always had drinks and never got chance to get to an empty glass. We were checked on to ensure we had everything we needed and everything was ok. I have to say a special thank you to Danela. After our first experience she has ensured our second visit was the complete opposite. Not just ourselves though, from observing everyone received the same high level of service. Thank you Daniela for a beautiful meal, definitely up at the top for best meals we’ve had. We will be back again very soon.

Love this restaurant. The food is great, service is always good and friendly. And the atmosphere is incredible, belly dancers and fire breathers, great entertainment and keeps the kids amused.

Fantastic night.Food was so good right through from starters to main meals.Service was excellent.Much to the Birthday boys delight who turned one today the belly dancer was great entertainment.And not forgetting the staff who brought cake out and sang Happy Birthday Thanks again we will definitely be visiting again xxx

Stumbled across this place early Friday evening whilst in town and looking for somewhere to eat. Amazing food and fast, friendly service. The interior looks amazing as well! Highly recommended, will definitely revisit next time I'm in town.

Have been put off visiting because of the external building but WOW!!! Inside is absolutely stunning. Beautiful quirky decor, very welcoming. The staff very friendly and helpful. The food was to die for!!! Huge portions even though we had the afternoon deals. Really nice wine selection and very reasonable prices for food and drinks. Will definitely be visiting again soon.

Service was very bad Food was cold and half of it missing Asked 2 servers for the rest of the order after waiting for ten minutes finally got it After finishing the cold food and asking 4 different people for more drinks we gave up as was never going to get the drinks it still took 25 minutes to get the bill to pay with no drinks and a table full of dirty plates

Went last night for a meal, have nothing but praise for this restaurant. The food was amazing and the staff very friendly. We asked for three Bloody Mary’s which we didn’t realise weren’t on the cocktail list but they were made for us.

We came here for lunch, and we really enjoyed it. They have a good choice of food and drink. Staff are lovely and friendly. The restaurant is immaculate, and really nice. Highly recommend

Visited Melis last night. Had hallumi skewers and been up all night experiencing food poisoning. Will not be coming again. Its a shame as the staff were lovely.

What a fabulous place! Absolutely stunning interior, the staff are amazing and the food was out of this world! I couldn't take pictures because I was too busy eating! Would highly recommend.

Very busy and popular restaurant opposite the petrol station on Scot lane. They had a belly dancer who made her way around the tables, this was on a Saturday night, this was cool and something different, it makes the restaurant stand out from others. Due to it being very busy with several large tables of birthday parties, I did feel we were forgotten about as we had to wait quite a while for two other guests to receive their starters, after two other guests had already got theirs. When asked how long the starters were going to take, staff were attentive and sorted this out quickly. Similar thing happened with the mains, (after only being given garlic bread when it was to come all together with the mains) I questioned how long the wait was for all 4 guests chicken doners , the waiter apologised and the mains were brought out straight away. Massive portions for the mains, I got a chicken doner, shame you only get a small sized tortilla though, like a strip of it, as it would go further with the amount of meat. Fresh salad too which is nice, again very generous amounts of food. The cocktails are nice, strong too, which is always good. I'd go again and maybe try a different dish and order extra tortilla/pitta for my meat, I think I'd also maybe go earlier or in the midweek to avoid the busier times. Staff did do really well to accommodate guests and were attentive, so I have to give them credit for this.

Absolutely brilliant all 'round! So many gluten free options, all of which are delicious. Easily one of the best restaurants in Wigan!

Been dying to try this place for months and we finally got round to it last tonight and wow just wow this place from start to finish was amazing. Service a little slow to take my order at first. But the place was busy. Evidently popular. The food was exquisite. Service was very friendly. The ambiance was magical, with a belly dancer and entertaining oriental music no less. I will definitely go back and I highly recommend this restaurant.

What a great surprise! Fantastic restaurant. Great food great service. Bonus was a belly dancer which I believe is only Fridays and Saturdays. Which added to the atmosphere. Some of the best Mediterranean food I have ever had and certainly the best I've had in the UK.

We visited Melis last night for the first time and the whole experience was fabulous. Four of us ate, three shared the Mediterranean platter (amazing charcoal grilled meats), the other had the chicken skewer. Large portions, beautifully tasty food, great service. We will be back.❤️

I must admit I’ve not been to a restaurant in Manchester that’s offered us the level of service provided to us here during our Mother’s Day lunch.

Our first time coming to the restaurant, I booked for 5 of us for Mother’s Day. It was absolutely amazing! The decor is beautiful, the food was phenomenal and the staff are extremely friendly. I would definitely return and encourage friends to try it. 10/10!!

Simply put, we had a great time. Ample parking on site, nice open seating area with a good atmosphere, friendly staff, complimentary snacks, relatively cheap prices, great serving sizes, tasty food. Would recommend. Pitta breads, dips (houmous etc), fries, massive mixed food platter, water, beers, came to £105 between 4 people.

Fantastic night we had at Mellis restaurant, the atmosphere, service, and food was absolutely brilliant. We all can't wait to go again.

Not a good experience starter served a, Garlic Bread to share however the wait for main course was very long we witnessed two full performances from dancers after three attempt to ascertain when food would arrive we finally received our food almost an hour from ordering. The chips not cooked through and the rest if the food quite tastless safe to say l took my grandchildren to McDonalds for chicken nuggets.

5 stars! This place was amazing! I went with my family and found that the staff were very polite to us and always made sure we were okay. The food was overall amazing we couldn't get enough 😂. The place itself was so fancy looking and it was beautiful even the bathrooms were nicely decorated, the chairs were like sitting on a cloud and plates were very pleasant to look at :). I was very very pleased and will definitely be coming again. 👍🏼

Great food the restaraunt is beautifully decorated. There was a couple of birthdays and waiteress came out with sparkling lights to sing happy birthday. The whole atmosphere was great. Not the cheapest prices but plenty of choice foodwise

Where do I even start.. this place was absolutely OUTSTANDING! ☺️ the food was unreal It was so well prepared and so fresh!!! it could not have been any nicer. The staff were also absolutely incredible. Very attentive and had a big smile when serving. We had a chat with some of them and I can’t believe how they made me and my partners night so much better they deserve a lot of praise. Not too mention the chef’s! They were under a lot of pressure with it being so busy but still put out incredible food. This is the best thing to happen to this town in a long long time and if they keep this up they will be around even longer! Thank you all for making our evening so great! 😁 we have already planned our return. See you guys soon!

Unfortunately, I am sitting writing this review eating a takeaway when my belly should be full with Turkish food!! We were a table of 4 tonight really looking forward to trying the food, first impressions of the restaurant were good, lovely decor, friendly welcome. We were sat in the front of the restaurant (the old entrance part) and instantly felt the cold, though they do have heaters to try and compensate. We were not given food menus when we sat down and it took ages for staff to come over and take a drinks order. We eventually ordered and drinks took longer to arrive than you'd expect. Starters arrived in a reasonable time and what we did have was nice. However, the wait between the starter and main course was ridiculous! We had ordered the sharing platter for 4 and understand that cooking that amount of meat will take time, but we waited forever. We asked staff for updates several times and they said they were checking with the kitchen, then another came to ask if we had ordered yet. Eventually the food came, initially it looked great but it was stone cold. The accompanying rice on a separate plate was freezing cold. At this point we decided we had no option other than to leave. So disappointed as the atmosphere and belly dancing was great but staff issues (spilt drinks in lap) and delays with food was too much to cope with. Sadly won't be returning or recommending to anyone!! Such a shame that celebrating our friends engagement was ruined by the experience.

First time at Melis and we are impressed. Prawn starter was delicious. Lamb casserole very nice but the best course was the baklava. Service was exceptional. Thank you Daniella for looking after us as well as the other staff members who were so friendly and attentive. Music was an interesting mix with Turkish music as well as some laid back funky tunes. Belly dancer added a beautiful cultural touch to the atmosphere. Will definitely dine again and try some more Turkish delights !

First time at Melis. I wasn't entirely impressed. Firstly, the music was way too loud (and would be more suited to a strip club). The decor was pretty tacky and the toilets were absolutely freezing. On the plus side, the food was reasonably OK, and the service was friendly. I've definitely eaten at better Turkish places, with much better food, for less money. I think Melis is more style than substance.

Wow, the restaurant has a new lease of life. The atmosphere and food were excellent. Staff were friendly and attentive.

Went for lunch and ended up taking food home and had it later too there was so much! Great food, lovely staff, the lower ratings seem to be for the place it used to be before this so don't let them put you off. Will be going again soon!
