MELIS RESTAURANT WIGAN in Wigan

Food is great - can’t really have any complaints on that score, although its not the cheapest place to go. Service however was abysmal this time around. One waitress wearing a face mask was asked what the cocktail of the day was and simply replied with “I don’t know, I don’t make it”. Her young colleague also didn’t know but did the logical thing of going to ask behind the bar. A drink then had to be sent back twice later on because it was the wrong one and another lot of drinks did two laps of the restaurant going to every other table by mistake before finally find their way to ours. It seemed like there were a lot of people who were obviously quite new being led by someone - who doesn’t make the cocktails - who was really lacking in customer service skills to be working front of house. Hopefully we caught them on a bad night service wise, because - aside from one waitress who was really helpful - they let themselves down in that department this time around.

Just been for the first the food and staff were excellent and it isn't expensive. Highly recommended we will definitely be going again.

First time visiting this place and it will definitely not be the last one. Came in for a late birthday celebration and everything was PERFECT! The atmosphere was nice and welcoming. They managed to accommodate a table of 7 even though we didn’t book-in, without any rolled eyes, without any unnecessary comments. The service was spot on, Daniela is very professional but friendly in the same time, she even gave us recommendations and what can I say is that WE WERE NOT DISSAPOINTED! We do really recommend the Grill Platter, the desserts were brilliant as well, especially the in house made Tiramisu. We will definitely be back here and if you are thinking of coming at this place, don’t think twice, just do it! You won’t regret it! Thank you guys for a wonderful experience!

It was my first time here and it was Valentines night. The food was nice and there was a good selection on the menu. The prices were not adjusted for Valentines and there were roses on every table for customers. The thing that stood out the most was the customer service. Daniella in particular was brilliant and the waitress who's first night it was did a good job. The decor and space is very nice. There was no singer on or other entertainment but I'd definitely go back on a normal night.

The restaurant decor is done really well, service is usually good and decent food. Would like a gluten free dessert option, its the best part about going out for a meal!

Lovely good , Great cocktails nice choice ideal for couples and parties

Second visit, 1st one was March 2024 and left 5 star review. Unfortunately this time was not as good. The restaurant felt very cold and drafty. Some people on other tables were also sitting in their coats. The music was weird, playing too loud but also on and off. There would be one or two songs playing loudly and then there was 5-10min of silence without the music, we all noticed that and that it was odd. Servers were polite, however had to be reminded of couple things like extra plate, sauce, steak knife etc. We ordered three steaks and unfortunately all three of them were way over seasoned and very salty. We were thinking about getting deserts but decided to leave because we were all feeling very cold. After the 1st visit which was amazing - that's why we came back to celebrate another occasion - unfortunately this time was underwhelming.

Just after New Year, we went as a large family group and enjoyed a lovely meal here. The food was really nice, well presented and very tasty. The ladies serving us were very friendly, as were the other staff and owner. We will definitely be back again.

Just celebrated my retirement with my gorgeous family. This is our first visit and definitely won't be the last. Abu went over and above to make this celebration extra special. Nothing was too much trouble for any of the staff. Well done to a fabulous restaurant. Amazing and a 10/10 from me X we will be back x

Overpriced with small portions, price of the food/service does not reflect portion size or qauilty. More of a takeaway then a restaurant, expected to be absolutely stuffed with the price of the mains being £20 each. Ordered sea bass which was swimming in butter, the prawns and vegetables chewy highly suspect these are cooked from frozen. The chicken swekers was alright but expected more then 5 small chunks of chicken , along with small amount of rice. None of the service staff asked was the meal alright at anytime. we left half of the sea bass untouched to which they didn't even clock on that we didn't enjoy it. Staff too busy chit chatting with themselves , when the bill arrived we sat there for at least 5 minutes with a empty cleared table and my debit card in hand. I then had to go up and ask the staff to pay the bill. Don't bother. You can see by the owners automated response they don't care at all.

Super place. Food was excellent and the service great. My friend and I had a fabulous time in a very relaxed setting.

12 of us went for a 21st birthday ,food was gorgeous ,all had different dishes and everyone enjoyed their meal ,staff very friendly polite and helpful,lovely clean place and lovely atmosphere,would definitely recommend,thankyou melis xx

Totally diabolical service we received today. I little skewer with 2 mouthfuls of rice and 2 mouthfuls of salad. I had to ask for more rice which is sad because you want value for money for repeat business. The blonde waitress wearing glasses has zero customer service skills and no concern for the customer’s concern just “okay”. Unhappy with service and will certainly not be returning. You get ripped off what you’re paying compared to the tiny food portion. Typical example of a money wasting business!

I had a very positive and pleasant experience at this restaurant. The food is outstanding and abundant, I had to check if the Meze for 1 was not actually a platter for 3! Charcoal Meats are delicious served with rice, salad and tzatziki… I had to ask could I take some home, I couldn’t finish it. Absolutely no problem. Staff are so accommodating. Staff are also polite, welcoming and work extremely hard. Mobility facilities are very much up to standard and plenty of space to move and relax. A lovely place to visit this time of year or for any occasion. We will definitely be returning.

Food was so tasty, the portion sizes were more than I thought, got starters and a main and the food was lovely and bigger than expected, great value for money and the blonde waitress with glasses was lovely and very attentive, always asking if we needed anything and had a nice chat with our table, would definitely return again, unfortunately have to return home to Ireland after the Christmas as came here for a family meal on a trip but this is a gem of restaurant with great staff and food, locals should feel very lucky to have this place around

My family has found their new favourite spot for when we go out for dinner on a Sunday. Delicious food, big portions, friendly staff and a cosy atmosphere. Daniella is gorgeous.

We arrived late after a hectic day. The service was excellent, food was exceptional and the atmosphere was relaxing. Just what we needed. I would happily recommend Melis and will go again.

We had a table of 28 booked.. service was fast, food came out fresh and hot, nothing was missed and nothing was too much trouble for them.. Mixed grill was excellent 👍 Great atmosphere inside.

We went on a Monday evening with friends, it was on the quiet side as expected, but still a lovely atmosphere. Food was outstanding and the service absolutely great. A member of the group had an allergy and the staff very much took care of this. Thank you

Best food in ages nice staff and service

I am writing to express my disappointment regarding our dining experience at your restaurant .which was meant to be a special celebration for my daughter’s birthday. When I made the reservation, I specifically mentioned that it was for my daughter’s birthday. During dinner, I asked a staff member if there were any special dishes or desserts we could order to celebrate. Without any expression or empathy, the staff member simply told me that nothing was available because it required prior booking. However, less than a minute later, I noticed another table being served a dessert with sparklers while the staff sang a birthday song. This left me puzzled and frustrated—what was that if not a birthday celebration? My daughter was incredibly disappointed, and what was supposed to be a joyous occasion turned into a very unpleasant experience for us. I hope you can ensure better communication and service for special occasions in the future.

We've been a couple of times now, the food is outstanding, service is very good too. Quite good options for gluten free apart from dessert where it was only icecream for me. The inside is decorated beautifully and kept immaculate.

Been wanting to try here for ages. We've scratched that itch and won't be returning. Pros - cocktails are great, nicely decorated, has the Instagram appeal. Belly dancer was different and a nice interlude and smells from the grill were amazing. Cons - greeting at the door was cold and needed charm and work. Serving staff were keen but we're just too young and inexperienced (dropped a tub of sauce which splattered all down the side of two of us. Accidents happen so havent just based the comment on this). Food was average overall , the Turkish mixed grill for one was disappointing at that price point. For us it's a case of All that Glitters isn't Gold.

We come here twice a week. It is local to one of our biggest customers and we bring all our prospects here for a beautiful lunch. Always a welcoming smile every time we come. The food is great and the atmosphere is great. Five stars.

My husband has been telling me he wants to try this place for the longest and im glad we did. Gorgeous interior for my insta girlies. Loads of space inside and they have private rooms too. The service was lightening fast. I hate waiting to be asked to order even for starters but the staff was always on time. Great food. I had two starters and a main meal - my pregnant belly was equally pleased. Even gave us some free Turkish bread. Great place for birthday celebrations too and the prices are ace!

Lovely meal for my sisters birthday

It was our wedding anniversary yesterday and we decided to have a dinner outside the home with the kids. The services were top notch. Daniella was awesome! The meals were so filling and the kids were happy. We will definitely be visiting again and I would recommend this restaurant to anyone.

Called on spec about 2.30pm. Food was great but took a long time to arrive. I had the chicken skewer and a chocolate mousse type dessert.

Excellent quality food. Wide range of Med dishes. Thoroughly recommend the Turkish red wine. The staff a efficient and courteous. The place is busy so glad I booked, and I understand why. Thee atmosphere is bubbly with music at the right level. It is warmly decorated with colour without being garish. 10 mins in its easy to forget you are in Wigan (absolutely nothing wrong with being in Wigan) you could easily be in the Med.......Go.

Just been for a family meal. Service was great . The food was outstanding. Garlic mushroom starters, goats cheese starter, and you definitely have to try the lamb chops. They really know how to cook a perfect steak also. The portions are very generous and the food is piping hot and full of flavour. Thank you for a wonderful meal.

From the minute we walked in we were made to feel very welcome. The decor is wonderful. The waiting staff were excellent. The food was fantastic and so much of it. Highly recommend this place.

Amazing food and outstanding service. The waitresses were super polite and attentive. Courses were served quickly and everything tasted fantastic. We were entertained by a lovely lady doing a belly and swords dance. I'd definitely eat here again.

The best place ve ever eaten. I've been 9 times since it opened and it NEVER disappoints. DANIELLA is such a people person and remembers us each time we come in making us not just a number. Very personal touch. Everything on the menu has blown us away. Well done.

I booked a table for 2 as it was my birthday for 8 pm as we read some good reviews about this restaurant and upon arrival we were shocked to see such a beautiful restaurant but totally empty with not a single customer however we were welcomed by a charming waitress and given a table. We ordered cocktails which arrived on time and were good however the starter was quite salty so we thought it could be one off. We than received our mains after a long wait and were shocked to find the poor quality of food the rice was uncooked and the meat was like rubber unchewable and the chicken was inedible. We were so disappointed that we cancelled our meal and paid for our drinks and left. Our celebration was spoiled although the restaurant is beautiful and the waitresses were excellent. Sad about the food though

Went to Melis today by happy accident - and we were blown away by the great atmosphere, superb service and absolutely delicious food. Its really trendy and funky design interior made us feel a million miles away and was so fun and eclectic. We ordered the meze platter to share and my hubby was really hungry and wanted the mix grill platter as well. When it came to the table I was giggling because there was so much food! We really would have been fine with one dish - the portions are very generous. They were so kind to wrap up the remaining food for us to take home. The halloumi melted in your mouth, as did the various meat dishes - it was all so tender! There was a party and a birthday party at different tables and we happily clapped and sang along with them - it just led to a really great ambience. Hubby and I have decided this is where our next date night will be and if he has to take his boss out it will be here!.

What a fabulous evening we had at Melis. The good was delicious and the service was great. I would highly recommend.

We have dined here tonight for the second time. First time round was not great but tonight was like a completely different restaurant. The food was amazing, tasty, hot and fast. The atmosphere was great. Last time the music was really loud and we struggled having a conversation but tonight it was turned down after the Turkish dancer had finished, the atmosphere was really good. Service was excellent. We always had drinks and never got chance to get to an empty glass. We were checked on to ensure we had everything we needed and everything was ok. I have to say a special thank you to Danela. After our first experience she has ensured our second visit was the complete opposite. Not just ourselves though, from observing everyone received the same high level of service. Thank you Daniela for a beautiful meal, definitely up at the top for best meals we’ve had. We will be back again very soon.

Love this restaurant. The food is great, service is always good and friendly. And the atmosphere is incredible, belly dancers and fire breathers, great entertainment and keeps the kids amused.

Stumbled across this place early Friday evening whilst in town and looking for somewhere to eat. Amazing food and fast, friendly service. The interior looks amazing as well! Highly recommended, will definitely revisit next time I'm in town.

Have been put off visiting because of the external building but WOW!!! Inside is absolutely stunning. Beautiful quirky decor, very welcoming. The staff very friendly and helpful. The food was to die for!!! Huge portions even though we had the afternoon deals. Really nice wine selection and very reasonable prices for food and drinks. Will definitely be visiting again soon.

Service was very bad Food was cold and half of it missing Asked 2 servers for the rest of the order after waiting for ten minutes finally got it After finishing the cold food and asking 4 different people for more drinks we gave up as was never going to get the drinks it still took 25 minutes to get the bill to pay with no drinks and a table full of dirty plates

Went last night for a meal, have nothing but praise for this restaurant. The food was amazing and the staff very friendly. We asked for three Bloody Mary’s which we didn’t realise weren’t on the cocktail list but they were made for us.

We came here for lunch, and we really enjoyed it. They have a good choice of food and drink. Staff are lovely and friendly. The restaurant is immaculate, and really nice. Highly recommend
