The Upper Crust Pizzeria & Bar in Wigan

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Upper Crust Pizzeria in Orrell, and I can confidently say it was one of the best experiences I’ve had in a long time. From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with warm smiles and immediately felt welcomed. The atmosphere was cozy and inviting, setting the stage for what turned out to be a truly memorable meal. Our waitress was exceptional—attentive, friendly, and always there when we needed her. She made sure our drinks were constantly topped up without us ever having to ask, and her service was always prompt yet unobtrusive. It’s rare to find such dedication to customer care, and it really enhanced the whole dining experience. The food? Absolutely delicious! Each dish arrived piping hot, fresh from the oven, and bursting with flavour. You could tell that only the finest ingredients were used. The pizzas were perfect—crispy on the outside with just the right amount of toppings. Every bite was a delight. Overall, the combination of fantastic service, delicious food, and a welcoming atmosphere makes Upper Crust Pizzeria a standout dining spot in Orrell. Whether you’re looking for a casual meal or celebrating a special occasion, this is the place to be. I can’t wait to return!

Best pizza in the area by a mile

We booked a table for two on Saturday at 7pm. We arrived and shown to our table. We were seated near to the kitchen and before I had even taken my coat off and sat down I was asked by the young lad if I was ready to order drinks! Firstly I had not even seen the drinks menu so asked for 5 minutes. We had food menus but I had to get a drinks menu from a nearby table. We both said we probably couldn’t order much because the table was so small and the couple next to us even mentioned this! The two tables either side of us were served drinks but 5 minutes had passed and no one came to our table. 10 minutes passed and a waitress came to the table next to us and apologised for the delay and took their order. The Manager and staff were back and forth but still no one took our order. We waited at the table for 25 minutes, the young lad who had showed us to our table was too busy stamping pizza boxes. At this stage I had had enough. Thankfully we live local and have previously been several times before and the pizza is superb. However this experience was terrible and the service was non existent. We therefore left and as we were leaving the Manager thanked us. I said for what we had been sat there for nearly half an hour and nobody bothered with us! I then received an email thanking me for my visit to the Upper Crust and left a review, which strangely enough when you go onto the main website and click on reviews you get nothing! Lost custom from local diners!! Yes reviewed a week ago, but funny you only reply when a review is publicly published. Great customer service response by you, claiming it did not happen how I have said it. Were you there? Calling customers liars very professional

Best pizza in Wigan, hands down! Amazing food (lots of fab veggie and vegan options) and fast, polite service from the team. The restaurant was a little quiet, even on a Saturday night, but the music and food made up for it. Order the tomato and pesto garlic bread to start 🤤

Hi upper crust, I had a massive order for your two for one offer, which went to primo… why did you change to in house purchase when you’ve done take away before.?

I was recommended this place by a friend, I signed up for a 10% discount but didn’t receive that, not bothered really but worth mentioning. The website is terrible and needs looking at urgently, some items cannot be added to basket at all (margarita & aranchini) also other things such as mobile compatibility. Managed to order in the end but then received a phone call to say one of the pizzas were unavailable. Fine so we switched to a less expensive option (margarita) I drove to the place to collect, walked to the door but a sign said “use other door” so I walked in the other door to go through but was abruptly stopped, the guy asked what I was there for so I told him collection, he passed me on to another guy who sorted my order details, the pizzas quickly followed and I paid the difference but I had to explain to them, they almost overcharged me until I brought it to their attention, eventually they sorted it. Finally got the pizzas home but I was not overly impressed, they’re ok but definitely not worthy of the price tag. The garlic bread pesto was a massive disappointment, it was swimming in oil and inedible, we had a slice each and no more. Margarita was ok. Probably won’t go back again. Many other places do pizza better than here.

Been going to upper crust since it first opened, have dined in and also had deliveries recently, always piping hot and so fresh. Never had a bad meal! Had the Nutella donuts for the first time tonight omg 10/10

Been here a few times and ordered tonight for delivery as we only live down the road, very authentic italian pizzas (were pizza snobs admittedly and spend numerous weeks in Como so it is the real deal…) but my word im a condiment man and i have to say the garlic aioli dip is thee best garlic dip ive ever had 😂 absolutely fantastic food will be serial customers from now on.

Lovely, food is delicious, staff are friends and the atmosphere is nice. Everything is very reasonably priced, freshly cooked food, definitely recommend.

Love this place and it never disappoints. Eat in or take away the food is always first class. Try the cheese stuffed dough balls! Heaven!

We had a lovely pizza and garlic bread and sat in the pizzeria side where you can see your food being prepared. There are lots of pizza choices and plenty of wine and beer choice too. Service also very friendly. From now on, we'll be visiting on a regular basis.

Had a pizza and cheesy garlic bread it was delicious so good second time of ordering won't be our last just so good only criticism a little cold though we only live round the corner 😁

Was really looking forward to trying these, but they turned out to be a major disappointment. The goats cheese option on the website shows what i thought to be a tomato base with red onion, but what i received was nothing like that. The extra chicken and mushroom that i requested was present, as was the goats cheese, but it also came with added ham or bacon ( or both ) which i didn't. The red onion had also been substituted with some kind of sweet onion chutney of some kind that was just horrible and totally overpowering and the whole thing was just inedible. The thick end crust was well undercooked and was like chewing 50% raw dough, whilst the base was just to thin and soggy and just couldn't hold any of the toppings. The only plus here, was that the pizzas arrived piping hot, which is not always the case with delivery. I certainly wouldn't rule out trying them again, even after this disaster, as they were well presented and looked the business, but there needs to be better info on the website of what is actually on each pizza and i will certainly ring before ordering to make sure i get what i think is on my preferred choice.

When you live in a small community like this after living in big cities you miss those special high quality restaurants you get in the city. This place is the exception to that rule! As you can see in my reviews I have been to a fair few well known pizzerias up here in the north west, for those that know the places in Manchester and Liverpool you will know places like Ruddy’s and Crust. This place competes and surpasses in so many ways. The dough / crust is just SO good. Not too dry, not to soggy. You can see the chef making it fresh to order and the pizza takes no more than 2 minutes to cook in some kind of specialised oven. The toppings are fresh and they are generous with their cheese! A MUST try is the garlic cheese bread. OMG. I can’t think of a place I have tried better. The steak they use is just full of flavour in the steak and Stilton and the Nutella calzone for those with the sweet tooth is one you won’t forget. The service team is really friendly and ordering online for collection was easy enough. At the back you can see that they have an area for you to take your four legged companions, I need to come back with Roscoe 🐺 It’s such a cosy place inside with really comfy sofas and chairs, be it for 1, 2 or 12 people. Orrell you have an envious pizzeria, topping it of it’s family owned and you can feel it. My new favourite pizzeria.
