Melford House in Rushmoor

I loved my stay here. Chess is an amazing cook, and I much preferred to eat here than forage out on the town. Would tell anyone traveling on business or with a loved one that your money is well spent here. The Goat in the Garden bar is so friendly too, so you can have a drink later and go right back to your room.

Perfect hosts, fantastics room, amazing food and one of the best bars I have ever frequented.

I am an Indian and stayed there for 13 days and this was one of the worst experience of my life staying and any property. The owner to say the least is a rude and a racist. I was there for a course and would wake up early in the morning to study and sometimes needed to go to the kitchen to have water or eggs. He blocked my access to have drinking water on the last day of my stay and locked the kitchen access in the evening itself. He had to refund me some amount and upon receiving the refund reciept I casually asked him a simple question..."when do you think the credit would go through" ... to which he replied " I have never refunded anyone any money till date so it will come when it will come". His way of dealing with me for everything was "rude". I was told that the use of washing machine is free as I was staying there for more than 10 days but when I went to use the machine for the first time he told me that only one use is free and after that I needed to pay 12 pounds every-time I want to use it. In fact last time also when I stayed here for 28 days he did let me use the machine and suddenly this time without prior information after 4 days of me being there he told me this. (if things have changed then guests need to be informed of all charges that would accour in a long stay at the time of booking. At the time of checkout and refund he told me that you have been having food here that you brought from "home" (which i had already kept as a condition for me staying there)...he tells me that you never washed the dishes and that you have to pay extra for the dishes that we washed... to which i told him that as this was a hotel, I did not realsie i needed to do it and if he would have still told me that there is a cost to this then I would have kept that in mind and decided what I would like to do. Once when I went down to get water at around 0400 hrs and was talking on my phone he rushed out of his room and used threatening and abusive language basically telling me what I was doing at 4 in the morning in the kitchen. He charged towards me as to hurt me physically towards me and I told him I shall call the cops if he takes one more step towards me. That morning was my exam for my course and I was supposed to check out the next day so I did not take the matter further. He did not have the courtesy to apologies even the next day. This was my second stay at this property and the first stay wasn't that great either, but I still decided to give it a shot. (my bad). I would not recommend this property to anyone at all.

Great place, comfortable rooms, perfect for short or long stay! Breakfast a la carte, there is dinner possibility and great bar outside :) Owners are very kind and helpful!
