Melbourne Take Away in Sutton

Such a shame that I have to give the Chinese restaurant a low review as the food is lovely but the lady that answers the phone is so rude and ignorant. She speaks to you every time like you are an idiot. I feel like I don’t want to order with her.

Have been using Melbourne for over 30 years, sadly no more. Menu has changed with many of our favourite items no longer available, and alternative dishes just not as good. We now need to find another Chinese takeaway which is proving a challenge.

We have used Melbourne’s for a number of years now and the food has always been consistently great. Even though we moved a little further away, I still choose to drive and collect rather than use somewhere closer. Always quickly prepared for collection, can recommend it for consistently nice food.

We did use this takeaway for quite some time,its family run and the daughter dnt care how she treats people,terrible attitude,along with the mother. There is so much competition nowadays they need to be more carefull how there customers are treated. Go.on google and look at the reviews of other places. The food is average quick fried lots of oil,not healthy. Supporting local shops is great,but not when you recieve no thanks!

The lady on the phone is extremely rude. I will never order food from Melbourne chinese takeaway again. I am not the only one who has been treated in this manner. Extremely rude and disrespectful. No regard for her customers. I feel so upset with the way I've Been treated. Never again.!!!! 👎👎👎

This is a short walk from where i live. The same family for more than 40 years. That should tell you something. their phone is always ringing . and thje food is always delivered quickly. GIVE IT A TRY

My grown up kids ordered beef curries,they have travelled Asia and beyond.This was sooo hot it should come with a warning,terribly hot.Please be carefull you may have to bin it like they did.They have never known a curry to be this hot without asking for it to be cooked this way.Please folks be carefull,just looking out for other people not to waste there money.

love this place..family run business...not many of them left now!! The king prawn curry and chips i could eat everyday...the curry sauce is nicely spiced and consists of onions and peas and prawns...and that's all it needs! The family are lovely...a few years ago i asked them to 'season' a new wok i had bought as they have the high heat flame to do so and they did...i offered to pay but because i'm a regular they would not take it! i would like to thank them all for their hard work and great meals over the years xx

Have been going here since around 1974.Been in the same family and still iswent here tonight for my usual Curry Chicken and Egg fried Rice.They must have a New Chef or maybe he was Having a Bad day.the curry was quite Spicy and the Rice was Quite bland.This will be the last time i will go there.Sorry.Its gone from 5 stars to only 3 stars what a Shame.3 Years ago i came back from Holiday I asked my taxi to stop so I could get a Take away.It was about 1.50pm they Close at 2pm.The lady came out from the back and Said rather Grumpily Close when I said its not 2pm yet she just kept saying CloseClosed.After traveling for 14 Hours i thought a Nice Chinese Curry would go down wellIShe still Works there I have names her Mrs Grumpy.

My family and I have been customers for 30 years, it has always been the best Chinese in Sutton until recently. I spent £40 last night for a family birthday and 1 of the dishes I ordered was pork in plum sauce. When I got home and saw it I knew they had obviously run out of plum sauce and it looked like a tin of pineapple had been put in the pot with some raw onion and manky old cucumber bits with some dried up pork slices on top. It was inedible. This has put me off completely and after all these years my family and I won’t be returning to Melbourne house look at the attached photos to see for yourself. Not worth complaining as staff here are very argumentative ( previous order was terrible but staff just wanted to argue )

In my opinion the best Chinese around, always welcoming and friendly, always busy but doesn’t take forever to get your food. Try it, you won’t regret it.

I have rated only 1 star not because of the food which is ok.its the women who works there she is so rude and arrogant.She either hates the job, or shes just plain ignorant.its as if you owe her fpr using the shop.i shall not be using the shop.no more, i would rather go somewhere where people are friendly and appreciate my custom.with a smile.:)

We visit Melbourne on a regular basis and we just love the food there. Always fresh and super tasty. Best black beans dishes we have ever had:) however everything tasts just great!

Pequeño negocio familiar en la parte superior de Sutton High Street con un buen menú completo que se prepara a la orden. Si camina en usted puede tener que esperar un poco de tiempo para su orden de estar listo, aunque se puede colocar una orden por teléfono. Un servicio de entrega de casa también está disponible.Recomiendo que lo prueben.Otro punto que deben saber es que no tome tarjetas de crédito o de cajero automático. Sólo en efectivo.

Estupenda comida cocinada a su gusto. Mi favorito es el Ho Fun con verduras y mariscos o los fideos crujientes y salsa con gambas alubias negras pero no puedes equivocarte con cualquiera de los platos de marisco. Buen servicio de entrega - siempre llega caliente y bien lleno.

A Chinese take away based at top of sutton. The food is average and at preasonable prices . Busy at weekend so ring ahead .

We sometimes get a takeaway from here. But it is a bit expensive. This is disappointing because they have got a 3 out of 5 hygiene rating.

This place is in danger of a new Chinese opening as at the moment they have cornered the market. It's ok but nothing better than ok, the staff can be rude, but I put this down to them being busy rather than rude. But at the moment they do not seem to have any competition so they can do, what they like. Just average, I wait for something else to open on Sutton town centre to open

Ella procedió a ser extremadamente grosero e irrespetuoso. No solamente probar y explotar me entonces ella me insultó. La comida es mediocre y a veces cruda, así que te aconsejo que pidas las gambas y verduras para estar bien preparado para poder asegurar que es lo suficientemente preparado. Debido a la mala atención al cliente que no regresaré y prefiero conducir unos pocos kilómetros más lejos la mejor comida y servicio al cliente.

I always eat Chinese food there and I can honestly say the food there yhe best in Sutton. Service are good.

No es muy a menudo que nos dan una comida para llevar, así que nos tropezamos con el Melbourne por casualidad y he de decir que realmente disfrutamos la comida y volveremos para otra comida antes demasiado tiempo.

I wanted to find out their opening hours so I called the number on their website.A female Chinese voice answered and, when asked what time they open for business, replied "manager not here" and put down the phone.If this is an example of the quality of their staff I think I'll not even try them in the first place.

Probably the best Chinese takeaway in Sutton. Offer both delivery and collection. Close to the station so easy to find. Worth trying

We usually order our Chinese takeaways from the Jade in Woodmansterne and before that the Lotus rooms in Banstead.But as the Jade was closed for holidays we tried the Melbourne instead. The order was delivered on time and piping hot . The recipes are slightly different to what we are used to and portion sizes are perhaps a bit smaller, but so was the bill. We will be giving them another try soon. Can recommend the BBQ ribs with sauce, prawn toasts and lemon chicken (the sauce is served separately and is very light ..don't be put off by its medicinal smell, it tastes great).

Me and my family have been using this takeaway for more than 30 years. Always beautifully cooked food and excellent customer service.

living in Sutton since 2004 The Melbourne is by far the very best, I live in Wallington now and will head over to Sutton to get their food, the Singapore noodles are wonderful!

As i Said this takeaway has been run by same family for over 35 Yearsi think i 1st went there around 1975 .It still produces Good quality wholesome Chinese food.Probably Best Chinese Take away in areaFri Saturday night the telephone never stops ringing.What more can i say.Give it a try you wont be dissapointed

We’ve used this take-away about a couple of times a year since it opened and have never been disappointed by the welcome, the service or the food.On our last visit… the member of staff behind the counter was welcoming fine… friendly and asked to help us choose if we needed help.We bought crackers, a quarter duck with pancakes, a chicken dish, a prawn dish and rice. The crackers were excellent… crisp, clean and flavorsome. The duck was really tasty, the pancakes were good and the plumb sauce was delicious. The chicken and the prawn dishes were really enjoyable. The rice was really fluffy and we could easily have wanted more than we bought.Overall we were satisfied with a really enjoyable meal.Top Tip: Phone an order through rather than wait too long at busy times.

This is a run of the mill takeaway. Staff are nice, deliver on orders over £10 in a 4 mile area but food has noticeably declined since I moved to the area ten years ago.My daughter likes this place for the chips, chicken balls, the simple foods and I admit these are nice but I think the standard drops when you order the normal dishes like fried rice, mains, dumplings etc. Soups are very watery, I recommend going to Mama Dumpings around the corner to compare and see what the soup should be like.I love special fried rice, could eat nothing but this and would be happy and its hard to get wrong. Here it is nice, but they use cheap ingredients like the prawns, they are like sacks of water that burst when you bite into it, its very off putting. I often find gristle in it. Its not every time but it is quite often.Their mains are hit and miss, I would avoid the chicken and beef dishes, the meet is very slimy like it has been soaking in tenderiser or something. The duck is quite good though, both for main and the crispy pancake duck dish.There are better takeaways in the area, Heens next store and another around the corner but the price difference is quite substantial when compared to the Melbourne. The pricing in the Melbourne is quite reasonable and portions are generous, service is good; its the food that lets it down, if they could maintain a consistent quality and stopped doing whatever it is they are doing to their meat it would be a great little takeaway.

By far the best Chinese take away in the area. we have been ordering for over 4 years and the food is consistently good and tasty. reasonable prices too. they do deliveries as well.

Takeaway only although the best Chinese in South London. Been eating from here for 17 years, moved away and routinely (when the moment strikes) drive 12 miles round trip to collect. Awesome....
