Best beef curry I have eaten since well before lockdown. Nice dark thick (not too salty) sauce and tender beef. Sweet and sour chicken and shredded chilli chicken also lovely. Spare ribs great too. Not sure if this has been taken over recently as we used to go here but will certainly be back.

They advertise as being a part of the government Eat Out to Help Out scheme but are NOT taking part. No tables available at all to take advantage of what is offered on a government website. I then don't know if they say they are and are claiming back on these awful meals they are serving. The restaurant looks as if it has not been cleaned in years!! Awful experience of ordering, paying and collecting. A very uninviting atmosphere and smell. Full order quality was of a VERY low quality. Nothing was finished. Food very salty. Rubbery chicken. Gravy was very watery. Ribs full of fat. Chips chewy and did not taste fresh at all. Total waste and will definitely NEVER be back again.

Hi we collected a meal set meal for two , chicken noodle soup was good ,Peking ribs didn’t enjoy very poor taste , spare ribs in lemon was basically ribs with a slice of lemon !not good at all .my husbands spicy lemon chicken was in no way spicy lemon was so unpleasant and my garlic chicken and I asked about a couple of main meals and they said of you love garlic this is very garlicky it was not at all very greasy and no taste at all .would not go back

I ordered 3 course takeaway and couldn’t manage more than a couple of mouthfuls of anything. Truly vile; everything swimming in grease. I phoned to complain and I was instantly offered my money back; they didn’t even defend their food; says it all. What a waste of money! 😡😡.

First visit to this Chinese restaurant, this was the best Chinese meal I’ve ever had. Fresh tasty quality meal. We had Chinese New Year meal Scallops And chicken satay to start both were delicious Then beef in blackbean Pork with Chinese celery Steamed sea bass with loafah (yes the thing you wash your back with lol) this was a first for both of us it tasted amazing. Followed by apple fritters We will definitely be back soon.

(Delivery). Since we started using Mei Hua Platform again we thought that they were on the up. Tonight says otherwise unfortunately. Food arrived swimming in curry sauce inside the bag, cold too. Asked for extra in one dish of onions, not provided. Food wasn’t great. Delivery price is steep at £4 but we accepted that as usually a good service. Not again unfortunately.

Take away food for us, more authentic than most Chinese food and good delivery service. Only one locally to do dim sum and use less additives. Been affected by road closures which are due to open end of April

Ordered a delivery tonight and asked for lemon chicken in a sweet and sour sauce. I waited an hour for the delivery and when it came it was the wrong order. I phoned to let them know and asked if it could be replaced as me and my girlfriend wanted to eat our dinner at the same time. They said this wasn't possible and instead of sending half a portion of rice (we got one portion between us both) they said they would mix some in with the dish what I wasn't happy with. One of our meals are now cold and we are still waiting in the other one being delivered. Will not be back and do not recommend it to anyone else due to the poor service. An easy fix what was suggested was take the full meal back and replace it with a new one, but that was too much for them to do. Again I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE DUE TO POOR SERVICE

This is our usual stop for take away Chinese and always found the food good and service pleasant. I have sat in a couple of times and again service is good but a good deep clean could help improve the appearance of the venue.

usual chinese takeaway was closed and we were celebrating a birthday so we thought we would try mei hua olatform .the food arrived .we ordered starter of crispy wan tongs im not kidding there was no filling in them it was overdone pastry it was like the inside had fell out we didnt eat them and at 3.80 each portion they were put in the bin ..our mains was average my honey chicken was ok but raw green pepper and onions loads put on top i had to disgard them they were definently not been stirred fried just put on top .definently not well cooked food the honey chicken i could not eat it was too chewy .we were going to return the food but after a long day we just put it down to a bad experience and wont go back ..

Having driven past a number of times, we decided to give it a go. When we asked for a table for 2 the waitress had no idea what to do. Since there was nobody else seated what was the problem? The food was OK, the service not bad but overall a poor experience. The tables are in two rows with the staff constantly and repeatedly walking back and forward between what appeared to be two kitchens. It felt like a Takeaway with a few tables added. My biggest concern was that as we got acclimatized to the place, we realised just how dirty it was. I don't think I have eaten anywhere quite as filthy, even in China. The cutlery was greasy, the curtains would have stood up on their own and the carpet so grubby that if you stood still, you stuck to it! A pity, because I think this place has some potential. A deep clean, tidy up and redecorate would work wonders.

Got a delivery rice was burnt chips where rank so phones them up to return the whole meal and was hung up on then I had to return food myself to which she only repaid me for my meal and not delivery saying I have to pay her driver and that I wasn't getting full refund even tho is was her rank food and not my mistake. No ppl / customer skills and very ignorant and laughing at me while I said I would write a review about her stinking shop

Very quiet, but that's not necessarily bad! Food cooked to your order and served in a homely way. Decorations a little tired, but overall good value.

The former station and booking office on the commuter line from Glasgow to Edinburgh. Parking in the station car park. A little sad looking and in need of some refurbishment, can be very quiet. Service is very friendly and attentive. Food was mostly very good, the menu is very extensive and staff will be happy to advise.

Having spent a childhood in the Far East I have found it hard to find a restaurant that compares with the food I was used to eating there.I have found this taste in the food served here.Very authentic home cooked taste.Mei Hua Platform serves good quality fresh food beautifully cooked and presented.The food has a natural taste without the bright colouring that some Chinese restaurants use in sauces.An extensive menu , the chef is friendly and willing to make recommendations and suggestions to help you build a meal to your taste It is a delightful small restaurant located at the former West Calder Station.I would certainly reccomend

We went here as they had an extensive vegetarian menu. We chose the taster menu which was delicious and good value for money. The lady, who I assume is the owner, was lovely and more than happy to recommend dishes to us. The place itself is a little run down but the food more than makes up for it. I would recommend Mei Hua Platform to anyone looking for authentic Chinese food.

This is a small restaurant with good food, it was I think part of a railway station. The biggest problem here is finding somewhere to park as parking at the restsurant is very limited, you can't park out on the road either, thats the only thing that puts me off returning.

We stay in West Calder and until recently we were never in this restaurant we tried it at the beginning of this year for the first time and now try to go every week to this superb Chinese restaurant the staff are brilliant and the chef is superb and the service is fantastic everything is cooked to order and if you like your food with a bit more spice or a bit milder the chef will cook it to your liking they have an all you can eat menu and an A La Carte menu and they are very reasonably priced.

My wife and I had a meal in the above named restaurant but we will not go back.We ordered the set menu for the £12.95 each,the portions to say the least were tiny and the intermediate meal the duck portion was ridiculous for two people.The dining room needs a good clean and the carpet well enough said about it,there was cobwebs on the windows.The waitress said she had been there for 14years but I do not think they clean it.Will never return as it's the worst Chinese meal ever.

We ate here late on a cold Wednesday night and we were the only ones there.....but we were greeted by a very friendly and helpful Chinese lady, who explained the menu to us - and we went for the all you can eat taster menu. It is a great deal....all you can eat with a difference - you choose what you want and it is cooked up fresh! The food was delicious and price very reasonable. Would definitely recommend and go back.

Went in for what my husband and I thought as a nice lunch, first greeted by the owner's wife in the dirtiest navy striped apron, and her husband in a dirty polo shirt, was quite taken aback when they greeted us as usual at the door. When entering Oh My! what a stink there was, I have never smelled anything so bad in a restaurant before, or anywhere else come to think of it. We sat down and looked at the menu, but had to walk out as the smell was tooooo much for us, Will certainly not be back.

Tonight we ordered food at 6.50pm, food arrived at 8.20pm but unfortunately it consisted of a bag swimming in soups and sodden food as the order had been crushed in transit, we phoned immediately and complained, we were offered a discount on our next order, but we have nothing to eat tonight, so I requested they send a replacement order tonight urgently. Order finally arrived at 2150.Unfortunately we go to bed at 2200 we were unable to use this food. Very disappointed and unlikely to be returning.

We have used this Chinese takeaway for over 5 years however we are using it less and less because it is too unpredictable now. the reviewers you have mentioned the long wait time for deliveries are correct at busy weekend times you can order at 7.00pm and not get your meal until 8.30pm. So we tend to go down and pick it up to guarantee we get it in good time. However the main issue is the BURNT RICE. Depending on who cooks the meal it seems that they scrape the bottom of the wok and drag up the burnt bits on the bottom making the rice inedible. We have complained twice now about this and still it happened to us a third time. They never apologise and I had to take my rice back and get it swapped. No offer of a refund or any apologies. I'm afraid we will need to move elsewhere which is a shame because the quality of their other food is actually pretty good.

Ordered this as a treat after having the flyer through the door, waited 2hrs for delivery not ideal if you want to eat at 9pm. Mixed starters were plentiful but at 8.50 lacking any taste. My main was very average and rice felt a bit stodgy and burnt in bits. . Husbands sweet and sour chicken came with no sauce..so overall very disappointing and lacking any flavour.

Just back from a lovely family lunch at this wee place ,the food was fantastic,service fantastic,couple whoowned it were brilliant,only downfall was the priceof a bottle of wine £15.95 a wee bit over the top but on saying that my wee grandson does not do chinese and they gave him prawn crackers twice ,the couple were brilliant and nothing was a problem to them will defogo back or get a takeaway Thank you!!!

Great food and great service! The staff are very friendly and we have tried alot of chinese restaurants all over the UK and this is by far the best!!! The woman that works there is fabulous and the food is sublime: great quality and freshly prepared. You couldn't ask for more!

i would not recommend this resturant to anyone. i had spare ribs both salt pepper and honet ribs both were dry and tasteless.crispy wunton was once again dry and was just pastry....the chefs special fried rice was like nothing i have ever tasted. so no more me and certainly not my friends.

Tried this restaurant tonight after receiving a flyer through the post. Can't believe this place has been here for the last 6/7 years without me knowing. The food was exceptional and freshly cooked to order. We tried the taster menu which was superb value at £12.95 each. Each person chooses 2 starters ( more if you finish that and want something else) then we shared crispy aromatic duck followed by a main where each person chooses 2 mains ( again more if you can manage it). We received a warm and genuine welcome and were made to feel at home. Connie took time to chat and recommend dishes we might enjoy next time. My advice is try it - everything was delicious and the people so friendly.

First time I ordered a meal and went down to collect I gave the lady ten pound she gave me my meal but not my change of £2.50 it wasnt untill i got home i noticed then I've just ordered a delivery ive waited over a hour before it came ! They could of said that they where busy when I phoned and I would of just went down for it ! I did phone and asked if my meal was going to be long the man said that she has just left! 20 mins later it came its about 5 mins to walk to it from my house not a happy bunny .

This is our "local" Chinese and the food is very good, we have to travel almost 16 miles round trip to collect the food but it is well worth the journey. The food is always of a high quality and cooked to order. The owners and their family are very polite and helpful. To help out they take on youngsters from the local area as staff and things can get a little chaotic when they are busy. They could do with a little bit of training to get reach the customer service standards they are striving for.

Went here on Sunday night the end of the Chinese new year the food was fabulous and I mean that the food was freshly cooked and wasn’t full of msg I know this as I am a chef Being a chef I left the decisions to the owner and let him cook what he wanted and I wasn’t disappointed we had the best chicken sate I had ever tasted then garlic tiger prawns and king scallops to start then sea bass with ginger, shredded pork with Chinese celery and char su pork it was all fantastic but too much so we didn’t have a pudding I felt like an old friend by the time I had left the restaurant this is a restaurant that is all about the food and not the location or décor like most good restaurants that are out of the way We will defiantly be back

We have struggled to find authentic Chinese food in the UK. We ordered take out from Mei Hua, it came recommended from our hosts at Crosswoodhill Farms. Since our cottage had lost power, we had to do dinner out, so we decided to bring it in and eat by candle light!The Chinese food was the best that we have had during our time in the UK. It was not authentic, but it was good and we enjoyed it!Service was good and the staff seemed friendly enough.

Crispy shredded aromatic duck first class. Never been disappointed during any of our visits. All dishes too a high standard particular favourite the first mentioned. Keep returning Strongly recommend

Very good, Chinese food, my husband doesn't particularly like Chinese, but enjoyed it. The couple who ran the restaurant are amazing, and when they found out it was our first time in Scotland, were extremely kind in giving us all kinds of tips for places to visit. The place was very clean, and because it was at dinner, there were few people in the restaurant but plenty of customers to take away.

Just returned from entertaining friends at Philip and Connie's Mei Hua Platform in West Calder and just had to write a review to say how much we enjoyed the food. The orange chicken was absolutely superb and our German friends also enjoyed their choice too. This is our favourite Chinese restaurant and we shall certainly be making a return visit in the near future. Many thanks again.

It may be a reseraunt, but it's overall highest quality would be its welcoming and very warming staff. The service and general chatter of the workers is a pleasure to be a part of. The food is of a good quality and is brilliant for train lovers being right on the station platform. A joy to eat and a joy to converse with being community close.

The Mei Hua is a superb restaurant at the railway station in West Calder. The menu offers a wide variety of meals to suit all palettes. If they do not have what you are looking for they will supply an alternative. The owners, Connie and Philip are always about to greet their customers with a cheery welcome. The interior is spotlessly clean and this is reflected in the crisp white table linen and silverware. There is a peaceful ambience for diners. So if you are planning on having a relaxing meal or a takeaway you will not be disappointed by the Mei Hua.

Phoned a collection, ready in a couple of mins, cubed chicken, no oinions, sauce poured over the top of the chicken, it was awful, wont be back, ever

I've had many mediocre Chinese meals in Livingston for years but I often pass the Mei Hau on the train going to Glasgow and wonder what it is like. In the past few weeks I have given it a try for a take away. Wow - this is a different class - totally amazing. Ive had 3 take away meals in the past 3 weeks and not only are the meals of generous proportions but all the ingredients are fresh and taste amazing - you even get a portion of prawn crackers for free. I've not sat in the restaurant but you are made very welcoming when you collect the take away meal. I have never written a report about anything ever before but I just had to tonight after eating another delicious meal. You must try it. Amazing
