Wow! Awesome find. The food was beautiful, lovely salads, fish cakes and fritters. Nice space to chill. Loved the elderflower drink❤️the staff were lovely and helpful paying attention to all that were around. Sorry the pics are half eaten, we were hungry 😋. Really happy we found this spot.

While I do hold the refurbishment of Scholars in high regard, the slimmed down approach to the menu in the evenings left us with limited choices and of which they weren’t the standards previously enjoyed in the old location. The service was not what was previously offered and when the cabbage was the highlight of the meal it becomes apparent to what was lost against the old menu style

I usually visit for coffee and something sweet from their baked goods. The cakes at Medina’s are always fresh and with a lot of variety. I would recommend the Apple and Banana Loaf, perfectly soft, full of fruit but not too sweet. I find their cakes can be too sugary for me at times, something to keep in mind if you do not have a sweet tooth. Their coffee is lovely and not too foamy, I recommend the Hazelnut Cappuccino or Mocha. Each one comes with a shortbread bite which is delicious but incredibly sweet. Service is good, staff are friendly and helpful. Downstairs has you find a table then order at the counter. Breakfast is served until 11.30. After 12-ish, upstairs is available for table service with the lunch or dinner menus. There is a good number of tables, some armchairs with coffee tables, along with bar-level tables by and around the counter. There is no outside seating at the time of writing. Dogs are welcome inside, which is lovely as a lot of places in Aber only allow them outside; tricky in Wales when weather is so changeable. The restaurant looks amazing and well lit. A perfect place to study with a coffee and nibble. Prices are on the higher end, a coffee (with syrup) and a cake regularly runs me over £10. There is a lunchtime deal that runs 12pm-3pm. I feel the quality of the food and presentation is level with the cost. A meal here feels a real treat and stands out from other menus in town.

The food is still good but service would be better if it were waitress service downstairs - we are not all able bodied, and twice now our order has not been delivered correctly as the noise level & coffee machine make it difficult for the staff to hear. It is not pleasant to have to stand in a long queue to place an order. It would also be good to be able to order a pot of coffee as it goes cold too quickly in the thick cups. There needs to be a glass barrier between customers and pastries on the counter display - not all customers cover their faces when they cough. Seating is pretty comfortable. Decor is attractive & there is enough space between tables. It's not quite as convenient as when it was in the centre of town so it's a bit of an expedition.

Tristemente no me quedé.

Food is always amazing there and the coffee is the best in town, BUT I'm afraid the service let's it down, we shouldn't have to wait half an hour for a simple croissant to be served to us, we had to ask 3 times.... even then when me and my son had ours, my husband was still waiting on his almond croissant, so again we had to ask, such a shame the service is always so slow, no haste shown and staff forgot our order and had to ask what we were waiting for..

Having been huge fans of the ‘old’ Medina, our experience at the new venue was so disappointing. On arrival was bluntly told to find a table and order at the counter. Then was told I needed the table no which was hidden behind a menu and flowers. Staff were unfriendly & unwelcoming. I was there with my 2 young children for 2 hot chocolates and a coffee which took over 20 mins to arrive, the cinnamon bun and muffin long since demolished. There is no atmosphere now, no tables laden with goodies just a small counter. The cinnamon bun was the only good bit. Such a shame.

A nice quirky restaurant where the aromas of fresh prepared food drew us in. The quirkiness expands into the menu and that is not always a good thing. Wanting to have a normal pizza Napilitana was not an option. Settling for a pizza called “stinky pig” was okay. The pizza my son had was spicy what he is not a fan of, this wan not stated on the menu. Both of us were happy to see all local beers and ciders on the list as we like to sample them. This place has the best coffee in Aber and some of the best food. Their menu changes periodically, so they don't always have the same salads and mains. Many bakery/takeaway items seem to always be available, like croissants and baklava. I'd definitely recommend the cumin potatoes, though in my opinion they do need a bit of salt. The one area they could use some improvement is their service. It's frequently busy, and service is often a bit slow. There isn't typically a host on duty, and it can be confusing as to how seating and ordering works. If you want to pick up grocery items, bakery items, or takeaway, you can queue next to the refrigerators and order/pay at the counter. You can also order/pay at the register at the other end of the counter. To be seated, we've typically just had to approach someone to let them know we've arrived and where we're sitting, assuming a clean table is available. There are steps to enter the building, so it is not accessible to those with wheelchairs.
