Fantastic food, lovely ambience, very friendly and helpful staff. This is a hidden gem of a restaurant, fantastic food and atmosphere, can’t recommend it highly enough!

The food was really nice including the wild Boar was and steak even the chips had a lovely spice to them. The service was brilliant by Rafa who was very attentive and made the whole family feel welcome.

Great food, friendly staff, nice atmosphere. There was live jazz music. Very good steak tartare. I asked for a warming tea with some lemon, orange, honey etc and they made it especially for me even if it wasn't on the menu.

A jewel in the middle of Northampton! The decor is what first draws you in. Medieval armour and weaponry adorns the walls. I have never been to a restaurant that carries its gimmick so well! You then look at the menu and PLEASE don't be shocked at the price. It looks pricey but its 100% worth it. Stunning food and an incred9bke selection alongside. A special shout-out has to go to our waiter, Rafa. Incredible service. So, so friendly, chatty (at all the right times) and seemed to bend over backwards for myself and the other patrons he was dealing with. No hassle in giving a generous tip! He also let me play the grand piano in the dining room. Legend! All in all, the night was incredible. The hosts were incredible. The restaurant was incredible. The food is epic. 100% worth your time to visit!

We visited for an early evening dinner on 21st October. Our waiter was very 'on point' and made our evening even better with his blend of professionalism, honesty and humour. The food was seasoned well enough and the portions were quite generous. I would go again and recommend a visit!

Just got back from the Medieval Fort, some of our party of 19 had been before but I have not. It was great, you can order sharing platers for 2-4 people, which is what we went for, with the children ordering off the kids menu. Our sharing platers were meat based, but they also do fish platers and exotic meat platers along side there ALC menu. Service was great, friendly but not overbearing. And from one chef to another, the meat was melt in the mouth, and plenty of it, well done chef. If you haven’t been before, please try this great place. Our thanks to all the staff.

A few minor issues. Service excellent and meat cooked perfectly in a great venue. Will recommend. If you like great meat and fab chips.

Went here for dinner with friends, we had the normal meat platter and the exotic meat platter, both were delicious and expertly cooked, service was lovely, drinks were very nice. Would highly recommend and we will definitely be returning. Good value for money.

I had long time go somewhere and be that much satisfied. The food was AMAZING, the portions size were more than enough, the food quality, the environment !!!! Everything was perfect! Ralph, the restaurant hosts was so polite and helpful, he put some Greek music for us, he explained everything about the food as we had lots of questions and made us feel more than welcome! I highly highly recommend this beautiful restaurant with this delicious food !! Thank you so much Ralph! You are a legend ! We are really appreciate the service today! Went for a friend's birthday party. It was lovely. The food was amazing. I would go back for the food. Our waitress, Joy, was so wonderful and really made us feel welcomed.

I'm glad the medieval fort is open, Really lovely service and amazing food. went above and beyond. Music was great. We had alchoholic drinks with this and came to under £50.

The vibe is nice, however everything we asked for they kept saying they didn't have any more. This happened on almost everything we ordered even after changing twice! We ended up leaving for another restaurant as their menu was very small.

First rate - went for a valentines meal & ordered rib eye steak , with chunky fries , side salad & can honestly say the whole meal was superb - the steaks we ordered were medium & we're perfect as was the whole meal . We ordered desert which we also really enjoyed. The same people that ran the chilli village in Northampton are now running this restaurant since the chilli village closed & having eaten there often it was a pleasure to see the standards hadn't dropped regardless of the new location. As for the staff.... Rafa & his staff , including the chef , were very attentive & made the whole evening a pleased. Its also worth mentioning that the building & decore helped to make it a great night for us.

A magnificent, wonderful place! Fabulous! It seems to live in another era! I recommend it! A must see!

Firstly it’s a nice place with good food and excellent service. It just seems a bit of a mismatch, there’s very high end food (langoustines, fillet steak etc) but with more of a pub type setting. Personally, I think it would benefit from a few slightly cheaper menu options - maybe rump steaks or gammon. Really like the setting and ambience and would visit again.

Nice food served by friendly and helpful staff! The interior is interesting with walls being decorated with hunting trophies and medieval guns.

An interesting place, we joined a table of 50 or more for an engagement party. The food was really good, particularly the steaks. We all pre-ordered our food. Starters came out relatively quickly but we waited an awfully long time for mains as the table is served as a whole as only two waiting staff. Felt sorry for the only bar person on duty as she was working alone serving drinks cocktails and coffees. The children were served quickly. We had a great night because the company and the food was good but they need more staff ….

Arrived to a dirty entrance with a carpet that could have definitely done with a deep clean. However, you can't commend the effort they had gone to, to dress the restaurant and entrance. This meal was for a birthday occasion at lunch and we was offered with either the lunch offer or main menu. Seen in the pictures the lunch offer was very reasonable price! However, the main menu was very expensive being it meat and fish but there was nothing in between. Looking at the offer menu a vegetables and rice was regarded as a vegetarian option which is very poor! Again, the starter wasn't vegetarian and was given no option otherwise when this was mentioned. Again very disappointing... Although, for £6.50 the duck soup and BBQ chicken with a cheesy and creamy was a great bargain. Though it was a shame the mash was lumpy. Now to the steak... I asked for medium rare and it came medium to well done. Despite this the steak did taste great and we all agreed we would happily come again just for the fluffy and crispy chips. Though I'm not sure I could justify spending £28.50 for steak and chips when it isn't up to standard. Overall, average with a great lunch deal although don't expect amazing. Nor do not expect any vegetarians or vegans to be adequately provided for.

Friendly service, excellent food and something different in terms of interior design. This is an excellent place for lunch which is great value for money! The evening a la carte menu offers a wide range of food at reasonable prices. For lunch I had homemade veg soup and trout for just £6.50 both of which were excellent. Our waiter Michel could not have been friendlier! Highly recommended!!!

Nice simple Sunday lunch menu. Accommodated our increased party. Watched the fireworks from the terrace. Attentive staff. Shame the draft beer wasn't working. Great food. Nicely cooked. Service was a bit slow as it was just our party in restaurant. Good night overall and good value.

It’s very cold in there and was quite empty for a Friday night. Probs only 20 people in there. The staff could not be more attentive and friendly. We asked for some bread to mop up our langoustine sauce and it was no trouble at all. I would highly recommend this starter if it wasn’t for the fact the mains are HUGE!!! Are mine cos it was so tasty but think I might regret eating all the 20ounce pork tomohawk. My boyfriends was a 16ounce steak but as you can see the size difference is considerable. Feel mixed about whether I’d go back. Weird decoration and uncomfortable seating but good food and amazing staff.

Very unusual slightly spooky decor! Lovely waitress so helpful and polite . The food was amazing presented so beautifully , good portions and DELICIOUS !!! Downside ... hardly any desserts available that were on the menu and considering we booked our table of 11 in advance this was pretty disappointing . Coffees were unfortunately Luke warm , withdraws have been nice if hotter. We would love to return though as the main meals were well above average !! I hope this restaurant succeeds ,give it a go ! Good for bigger parties of people !

Went for a meal with friends we were recommended the lamb shank which was presented beautifully. There is not a huge choice on the menu and is mainly for meat eaters with a couple of fish dishes and one vegetarian option. Prices are above average but the portion size was good. One slight niggle they only had two desserts available and we shared a chocolate fondant which again was nicely presented. We had an enjoyable evening at this restaurant.

Great food, bit pricey but the quality justifies the price friendly staff

Having heard good things about this medieval themed restaurant it became quite a disappointing evening. Having made our way past the mix of centuries old looking garb and mannequins reminiscent of a cheap seaside wax works we entered the dining room. For a Saturday night it was surprisingly empty and the few diners present were wrapped up as it was cold with just a small fan heater on the floor to take the edge off. We could of done with some earmuffs too, not because of the cold, but because of a band practicing in the room below overwhelming the background music of the restaurant. Unfortunately neither of the draft ales were available and had been taken off the menu a few weeks previous due to being unpopular. These are to be replaced by bottled ales but no one had the foresight to get actually get any in stock. And so the food arrived and the portions were huge. A pile of chicken wings for starters which were nice along with some shell on langoustines and prawns which we enjoyed. We all had the Ribeye steak for our main course which were thick cut however having asked for it Medium mine was well done. The accompanying side of chips, salad and various sauces were ok but a lot of food was wasted due to the shear size of the portions. In fairness to the staff they were very apologetic for the problems and looked after us throughout so it’s just a shame that they have presumably been let down by poor management. The bill was fair but there was just too many negatives to persuade us to return.

I was very disappointed after waiting to try this place for so long messaged to see if open lunch they said arrived to find the lunch menu consists of three things and that include a vedgie option and only choice of one starter soup alot of people dont like soup.I asked if i coukd have somethink of main menu i was told most stuff they dont have as waiting for delivery as they had banquets over weekend.Then asked foe a Malibu they dont do Malibu then i agreed to have chicken that was ment to have bbq and chesse didnt see any bbq had to ask for bbq sauce as so dry no dressing on salad didnt even eat no check bk was done otherwise i would have said no desserts at lunch time literally just soup and 3 choices .It was really cold up there .

Had a brilliant meal here! When I got there didn't really fancy anything on the menu so just ordered on a whim. And did not regret it. The food is soooo good and well worth the price over reviewers have mentioned. Service is excellent and fun which makes you feel very at home. We had an excellent night and I would definately return.

I attended with my sisters and our other halves as a "lets give it a go" mind frame and yes it was absolutely fantastic, food was probably the best I've had in Northampton, and the custom was second to none. I'd recommend to anyone. I'm not one to leave reviews but there we have it.

Visited today with friend for the Lunch Special: vegetable soup and mains. Karen had the grilled BBQ chicken breast with cheese, mash and salad and I had the chilli salted cod loin with new potatoes and vegetables. All very delicious, well cooked and hot. We did have to wait quite a while for both the starter and then the mains but the meals are cooked fresh to order. However excellent value for this two course lunch at £6.50. We viewed the drinks menu - lots of choice including cocktails and Warner Edwards Gins! Time passes quickly whilst waiting for your food as you can 'explore' the rooms examining the paintings, swords, and headgear throughout the ages. There is a large banquet room also. Very different and interesting surroundings for a lunch I must say. Both felt a return visit would be interesting to see if the same standard can be maintained for an evening meal with more diners. We will go again anyway for lunch without doubt. Be prepared to wait for good food though.

This was a great meal only made better by Peter who put himself out to make this a special day for us all, this is not our first meal here and won’t be the last, would recommend this highly as good food, good service and a good price.

We were intrigued by this restaurant as we have a keen interest in history especially the 17th century Civil War period. The restaurant is crammed with artefacts dating back hundreds of years and the owners have tried to continue the historical theme even down to their choice of cutlery. We visited on a Sunday afternoon and we both ordered a beef roast which was absolutely gorgeous. Okay you can go a local carvery for a roast dinner under a tenner but this meal was definitely worth spending an extra few pounds on. The beef was superb, the potatoes were lovely and crunchy and soft inside and the vegetables cooked to perfection. Even the stuffing balls were excellent! If I could have licked my plate clean I would have done so!

Love this place, situated on the racecourse means it has everything around it you could want.

went to this resteraunt at the weekend well i wasn't impressed to be honest .I wanted to order Lamb ...no Lamb dishes! At the weekend?? Anyway we ordered chicken chips and veg.....but the veg was salad ,i just thought it would be cooked veg ,my son had venison chips and veg/salad ...and two Peronis .£50.50p ! My son said the venison was lovely but SALAD? My chicken was dry very over cooked .Now i have to say the staff were very nice the chap that served us appolagised for the long wait for the food (this was at approx 8pm we were the only people eating)and offered us a drink on the house (nice touch)the girl who also served us was really nice .We sat outside with a nice view ,but the food and price was mmmmmm not so good .

fantastic food good value for money

Fantastic food! The blue steaks were truly blue, the vegetables were perfectly cooked and beautifully seasoned, and the langustines sublime. The decor is very fitting given the name of the restaurant, see if you can identify all the portraits! Well worth the expense, we will be back. My only worry is that it was very quiet, I don't want it to go under because we want to go back!

We had a family celebration on July 4th and our visit to this restaurant was a great choice. We chose the excellent lunch menu with a wonderful cauliflower soup starter and a cod loin fillet main. Peter provided excellent service throughout and we will definitely return in the near future

My friends and I decided to give this place a go tonight and we were all pleasantly surprised. The service was superb and they were attentative straight away. We were recommended our meals and just WOW, the food is just delightful. Great quality and you won't leave hungry. We will most definitely back!!!

Our first time at this Restaurant, we visited with friends for Sunday lunch. The Decor inside is amazing as was the food and the service- Peter and Agata looked after us very well . We all had a starter and a Sunday dinner. The service was prompt and professional the food is clearly all cooked using fresh ingredients. Can’t wait to go back and try a steak!

From the moment we walked up the stairs and greeted it was a great experience, the decor is wonderful, so much thought has gone in to it, on arrival in the bar we weren't rushed, the gentleman serving us found out later called Peter allowed us to go and look round, in the restaurant and function room, it was magnificent!! We were seated and Peter couldn't have been a more attentive host, nothing too much trouble, and very friendly.

Visited this restaurant a couple of months ago with friends the staff were good but was very disappointed to learn all their meat is halal.

We celebrated my husband's birthday here with 18 friends and had a fantastic time. The chef and manager phoned and e-mailed several times before the day to ensure every detail was correct and continued their attentive service throughout the evening. The function room was such an enjoyable setting, the food was amazing, especially the steak. We weren't rushed in any way. All in all they helped to create happy birthday memories we''ll never forget

Came for dinner with some business colleagues. Nice location, rather tacky but fun interior and nice Balcony looking out over the racecourse.

Four of us went to this restaurant last night. When we arrived there was a massive wedding function and one other table in use in the other part of the restaurant. They were sat in coats and we noticed how cold the place was.

Just come back home from a great evening at the Medieval Fort. The staff were warm and friendly instantly. The steak was cooked to perfection and my wife’s chicken was equally as perfect. We were also given free cheesy scones which were divine as a starter.

Went here this evening with family food was excellent great value for money friendly helpful staff would definately try definitely been coming back again !!!

Was totally amazed by the decor in keeping with the whole theme. The staff were consistently on the ball, friendly and helpful. Very good for money as the portion sizes were huge with high quality food and amazing flavours. Meat was cooked perfectly. Vegetarian options were also available. Also got a tour with interesting information. Will definitely be visiting again.

Five family members decided to try the Medieval for Sunday lunch. The presentation, quality and setting was top notch, will definitely be going again, the only shame was i didnt take a picture of the food to show how good it was.

Genuinely lovely experience with fantastic service. Pete our waiter completed the experience and was very charming. The meat was really fresh and great quality and is definitely the best steak I've had in Northampton for some time. Really wholesome fresh food. I will say it's a bit expensive to charge £2 upgrade for chips and doesn't quite suit the tone of the place. That being said it was so good It was easily forgotten. The decor and environment was very enjoyable. Not much on there for kids to eat however my little one really enjoyed his food and dessert :) Lovely evening with the family

From the minute we stepped into this foodie paradise until the moment we left the experience was awesome service fantastic food beyond compare and a great setting. Loved every minute the meat was the best I have eaten try the pork you won’t regret it!

Have to admit i looked at the menu before we arrived and thought it was a little expensive, however what you pay for is what you get. Great setting for a nice meal with a group or romantic couple meal. Jazz Band ( 3 piece ) are excellent and play familiar tunes that will have you dancing in your seats. Food was excellent and well cooked as per order. Portion sizes are of a good size and they have not made at in a'la carte food for the price. Staff were friendly and very accommodating to our needs and requests. Will be back again next month hopefully. Try the Goulash and steaks they are fabulous.

All four of us were appalled with the service tonight. We arrived at 7:55 and got seated. However it took 10 minutes to get given a menu and then a further 30 mins we sat there waiting to order drinks. In the end we walked out, as we were walking out we walked by all of the staff and none of them seemed to care we were leaving. Terrible service and horrible atmosphere.

Myself and my partner visited here on a Wednesday evening, after recommendations from friends. On entering the building it was wonderful to see so many features and the decor representing the restaurant so well. On arrival into the bar area, we was greeted by a member of staff (Peter) and he took us through to our table and all evening he was exceptional, customer service and table service could not be faulted nothing was to much trouble. We both decided to have a starter which was so well presented and tasted just as wonderful as it looked, to follow I had the venison and my partner had the ribeye. WOW is all I could say the portion sizes are well worth the money and again presentation was fantastic all cooked to our liking. We both shared the apple tartin for pudding, it was a perfect end to a wonderful evening the chefs and front of house staff made it a truly delightful time and we shall be back and bringing friends.

Wonderful place... You feel like you are not eating to a restaurant. You feel like you are having dinner in a medieval palace, with all the decoration and soundtrack taking you back and making sure that you feel like a member of the court!

This place is great. The decor is awesome and the food is delicious. We had a steak and a lamb shank with mixed veg (best veg I've ever eaten!) and chips. Everything was delicious, and the host was very helpful helping us go through the menu and confirm which foods were safe (as one of us has severe food allergies). The wine and cocktail we tried were also fab. It's pricy here, but definitely worth it, especially for a special occasion.

Let's start with the good. The food was lovely, it was cooked well, presented lovely and had good flavour.

Visited on the opening night. Decor inside is really interesting but in my view it is unnecessary. There is a really nice bar area and a very good selection of drinks available. Then there are two dining rooms and a balcony/terrace. The smaller of the two rooms would make a fantastic venue for a special occasion.

Ate here tonight. Steak was really tasty! As was the roasted salad that goes with it 👌🏻would definitely come back again!
