Meat the Fish London in Kensington and Chelsea

After begging for a booking as it was supposedly fully booked until several weeks ahead, I was finally bestowed with a booking when I had to send a pleading request. The restaurant was absolutely empty. There was only one other table of four!!!! The service were very nice but had zero experience. They didn't know the menu, the portions or even describing the dish. The food felt as if it had been reheated for several days and the dishes were ranging from bad to inedible. The bill was much too large. I recommend that one goes elsewhere or just stay home.

Food was very basic and very overpriced. £27 for a bowl of basic mussels, one piece of overtoasted, un buttered toast? £38 for a salad with some shredded crab that didn’t taste like crab, barely any lettuce, and half an avocado? No thanks. Waitress was uninterested and rushed. Water didn’t get refilled once. Not worth the pleasant ambiance.

Service was non-existent - It felt like the staff had better things to do than check on our table, and trying to get their attention was almost impossible. We weren’t asked once, if we were happy with the food…. The food was average and completely over priced (c.£100pp). Avoid the padron peppers… arrived smothered in so many bonito flakes that they were practically inedible. Steak was poor quality too. The atmosphere was another letdown – bright and sterile. This place is outrageously expensive for the quality(food and service) they deliver. Safe to say, I won’t be coming back.

What can I say?! When I booked Meat the fish for a double birthday celebration I was so excited because there was something for everyone. However, turning up I didn't expect to 'meet just the fish' It was a Sunday evening and all the meat had run out. We as a party were so upset however the restaurant was so beautiful we didn't want to leave. The staff were very apologetic. At first this didn't seem enough but we started exploring the menu and realised the evening could still be saved. The manager Raphael came and gave us a bill that halved the value. The food was spectacular and we got the chance to step out of our comfort zone and try something we never would have. A double birthday was saved and the staff secured a repeat visit from us. A beautiful place and I want them to do so well but I also want them to remain to a niche crowd and for people that 'who know will know meat the fish' Recommendation the black cod bowl - absolutely delicious

We had a solid meal. The Wagyu beef was astounding. The ribeye was an awesome cut shared between two people. The chirashi bowl was excellent with very fresh fish. An overall great restaurant. Highly recommended! Bonus for the whiskey selection as well (any place with Blantons and Basil Hayden gets a plus one in my book). Cheers!

The weather is great today, so off to Chelsea for some dining and shopping! There's a Mediterranean-Asian fusion restaurant called Meat the Fish not far from Sloane Square, with very cute decor! They have a furry animal wall. Starters 🧀 Nori Burrata This burrata cheese is enormous, and when you cut into it, it‘s a bit running inside.The umami of the seaweed, combined with the creamy fresh burrata, the nuttiness of sesame seeds, and the fragrance of olive oil, paired with crispy toast and sweet and tangy cherry tomatoes, is absolutely delicious! 🍣 Chirashi The sushi rice, sprinkled with seaweed seasoning, is topped with fresh sashimi, including salmon roe, salmon, yellowtail, tuna, and avocado, paired with a refreshing yuzu soy sauce, making it very appetising! Mains 🐟 Pan-Seared Sea Bass with Potatoes The sea bass is very fresh, seasoned in a Mediterranean style with pepper, salt, and olive oil, which really enhances the natural flavour of the sea bass. 🥔 These potatoes are truly superb; I've never had such delicious potatoes before. They're first roasted and then fried, with a soft and tender interior and a crispy exterior. Dipped in slightly spicy mayo, they are incredibly satisfying. Desserts 🍰 Their desserts are quite simple, like a homemade chocolate cake that feels like it was made by grandma, with a solid texture and not too sweet. 🍸 Cocktails Very visually appealing and the taste is well-balanced, featuring some Asian elements in a European-style Cocktails. 💷 Average cost per person: £60 (without drinks) ~ £80 (with drinks)

I had a fantastic experience at Meat the Fish. The environment and service are truly first-class, making for a memorable dining experience. The steak was delicious, with an excellent texture. However, I found the medium-rare option to be a bit too raw for my taste. I would suggest going for medium for a perfect balance. Highly recommend!

Accidentally discovered a beautiful little restaurant perfect for dates. I’ve walked past it several times but never went in. The entrance is understated with a sleek design, and once you sit inside, the whole space feels thoughtfully designed. The back walls are decorated with yarn art by a Lebanese artist, creating a great atmosphere. There’s a window that perfectly frames lush green leaves 🍃, making it ideal for daydreaming. The food is delicious too! Hey hey here is a secret restaurant near Sloan Square station that you have to come and have a try! Everything here is so amazing from the food to the service, not to mention the interior design!!! Please this is a perfect place for dinner!!

The treasure shop I finally discovered is hidden in the affluent area of ​​Clealsea. You need to make a reservation in advance not long after it opens. Interesting collection of dishes. Tacos were tasty but the steak was blue but we ordered rare (see photo). Wine list is the only disappointment, mostly the reds were too young and too expensive. Great service.

Great food , options for every taste including the healthy one

Nice interior and drinks. Food is just a joke. Too expensive and a mix of kitchens just for being hype.... I had 2 tacos for 40 but it was an amount of a dessert. And the paella was some rice with asparagus and ink of squid, looked like what cows let fall behind on the field and one prawn on it for 40 pounds. Never again.

Delicious food with a higher price point however the quality of the ingredients is impeccable. The portions are generous. Definitely try - the shrimp bao - the salmon caesar kale salad - the padron peppers - beef taco - chicken taco 💯

Very bad experience. To go to an opening and be bi -passed by free loaders taking priority. We were offered a few salad leafs with a slice of avocado, a small plate of mushrooms & 5 Padron peppers. Ironically the manager seemed more interested in replenishing some loser influencers/Instagrammers who were clearly fake penniless wannabes unlikely to ever spend a dime there. Sadly losing out on high net worth spenders living locally. Hopefully they’ll be able to distinguish their potential customer base in future.

I was invited to a promotional event at the restaurant and I was so excited about it as it is around the corner from my home and I used to go to this location in it’s previous incarnations often. Dazzling reviews made this even more thrilling! I never go to promotional events either so this seemed so wonderful. However much to my chagrin the host from Chile was utterly rude to us bypassing us with food and making rude comments every time he gave us some leftovers. He treated a girl from Chile and her friend seated next to us very differently — splurging them and making sure they try every dish in copious quantities. I found our treatment unfair and ironically based on our descent that’s related to Middle East. I would not go back.

The food and decorations are both 10/10. The chirashi bowl is definitely a bomb, and the steak will never disappoint you. Also if you tell the bartender what you like and he can recommend or even make a special drink just for you.

The waitress that served us was lovely, and the interior was beautiful. However, the food was disappointing to say the least. £24 for a vegan miso aubergine is criminal, the price is not worth the half aubergine I got with a few pieces of asparagus next to it. The “Asian inspired” food was disappointing: the miso aubergine had no miso taste, just sweet soy sauce; the Korean short ribs tasted nothing like Korean food, just had a strong barbecue flavour.

Do yourself a favor and visit this amazing restaurant in Chelsea. It’s our #1 spot whenever we visit London. From the starters to the desserts, each dish was so original and tasted heavenly! Make sure to try the nori burrata salad, ikura hommos, and short ribs. The design and vibe in the place is absolutely amazing, great for a night out with friends or even a romantic date night. Also, the staff is very helpful and truly cares about your experience. Highly recommended!

Dreadful! The place looked lovely so we popped in for lunch. Glass of wine took 15 minutes after order and the place was fairly quiet so no excuse for that. We ordered spagbol £29 and Black Paella £49. The spagbol was dry with not much flavour or meat, without being unfair Tesco spagbol is nicer, there was no offer of extra Parmesan and in general the staff were inexperienced. My partner who is from Madrid had the Black Paella which she has had many times and she left three quarters of the dish, as the rice was wet and the taste unpleasant, she said it’s the worst she’s had. When we gave feedback to the staff our dissatisfaction was ignored. I never complain about food even it’s a bit below expectations, so this is my first time leaving this sort of review. Really poor and disappointing

Staff do a good job but the food is overpriced relative to what it is, the wines are also overpriced. Also we were given a table next to entrance which was not pleasant as the door was constantly in use and as a result we could feel a draught, noting that it was very cold outside.

What a disappointment. Absolutely nothing worth mentioning, except for the disparity between price and quality. No course was specifically good. Each dish was either too sweet, too plain, overly fatty, or just okay. We had the crab and avocado salad, Chirashi, Korean Short Ribs, and Wagyu Sando. Almost all the courses were served simultaneously to a table that was too small. The crab in the salad was barely noticeable. Ribs were full of fat and very very sweet. The music was loud, making it hard to talk, although it was turned down a bit towards the end. Not recommended.

It’s one of our favorite places and we always choose to go there ! The food is amazing! We went today and there was wonderful manager so sweet we didn’t have a table and he squeezed us in. There was a bit of delay in the food and we had to switch tables however I must say the way the manager spoke to us and the staff made us feel so welcome! Everyone is so kind, smiling,friendly and helpful! It’s very rare to get great service and great food in London! Thank you meat the fish team we will always come back ! Atmosphere was enchanting, good music and decoration. However, the food lacked quality and taste considering the price. I ordered a Taco Maco and was left with the aftertaste of spoiled chicken in my mouth. We also got the sea-bass with the extra 10 pounds for the sauce that tasted like nothing. It’s such a shame because there is so much potential with the location. Sadly the food is not worth it at all. Perhaps explains the emptiness of the restaurant . Servers were nice and polite but too clingy.

The food is completely unreasonable in price and taste. Was low quality, did not taste good. Felt cheap and undercooked. I was underwhelmed to say the very least, which is SUCH a shame, for i have hardly ever been to a resturant where i felt more comfortable in terms of atmosphere. Beautiful, relaxing and clean. Service was to my liking (they were subtle and kind,) though the waiter didn’t have to come and pick up our bottled water to refil our glasses 4-5 times.

We had salmon tartare, chirashi bowl and MTF market salad with salmon sashimi. Honestly the food is very fresh and tasty. The ambience is calming and the service is wonderful. Would definitely recommend it to anyone.

Totally unexpected experience: 1) can we have a bottle of prosecco, reply: let me check at 7:30 on a Saturday 2) prosecco served with wine glass 3) ordered a couple of things from the menu sold out, Saturday evening 7:30 I would not like to believe this is the norm, as I have read some people had better experiences. But for the location and the prices not acceptable.

The food quality is top, like lebanon I must say and even better! The beef tacos are extraordinary, the dover sole with the miller’s wife sauce and Ribeyes are amazing would get them any day. Service is exceptional and the vibe is lovely with a cozy touch.

The food was absolutely delightful! I particularly enjoyed the black bao, black cod, and short ribs; they were exceptional. The burrata with Zaatar was also quite tasty. The staff was incredibly attentive, and the ambiance with its nice decor made for a pleasant dining experience. Plus, the quiet atmosphere allowed for easy conversation.

One of the best restaurants I’ve been too me and my friend sat at the bar and where treated so well, the food we got was recommended by the bartender and was delicious and the cocktails are amazing real original recipes made the bar. Would highly recommend this place because not only is it amazing but it’s really affordable for what you’re getting.
