So far the best Indian restaurant that I have been to in Europe. Everything we ordered were perfect, the butter chicken, pslak paneer, lamb biryani and the rotis.

Discovering Chakra in Kensington: A Hidden Gem Nestled in the heart of Kensington, Chakra offers a delightful dining experience with a mix of traditional Indian dishes and modern flair. My recent visit revealed a treasure trove of flavours that left a lasting impression. We started with three appetizers that set the tone for the evening. The Chilli Paneer was a fantastic opener—pan-fried cubes of soft paneer tossed in a tangy and spicy Szechuan sauce. The balance of heat and flavour made it a perfect companion for those who enjoy a bit of kick in their starters. Next came the Vegetable Spring Rolls, encased in a thin, crispy pastry and stuffed with mixed vegetables. These light and crunchy bites were a simple yet satisfying contrast to the boldness of the paneer. The highlight of the starters, though, was undoubtedly the Patiala Lamb Chops. These lamb chops were marinated in a chef-special blend of spices and cooked to perfection in a traditional clay oven. Each bite was tender and full of flavour, with the rich spices elevating the meat to another level. We were disappointed not to try the Calcutta Paneer Kathi Rolls, which weren’t available on the day, but it gives us an excuse to return! For the mains, we turned to Mayanak, our friendly and knowledgeable waiter, for a recommendation. He suggested the Highway Chicken Curry, a rustic chicken dish packed with whole spices. The curry had a thick, slow-cooked gravy that was both hearty and intensely flavorful. Paired with a soft Lachha Paratha and some plain rice, it was a winning combination. The Rai Wale Aloo, a spicy masala potato dish, was a delightful side, adding just the right amount of spice to complement the meal. The star of the mains, however, was the Dum Chicken Biryani. The aromatic rice, infused with spices and cooked with tender pieces of chicken, hit all the right notes. It was fragrant, flavourful, and filling—the kind of dish you remember long after the meal was over. To finish, we shared a warm and syrupy Gulab Jamun. This classic Indian dessert, with its sweet, melt-in-your-mouth texture, was the perfect way to round off a flavourful evening. A special thanks to Mayanak for his attentive service throughout the night. Chakra has truly impressed me, and with two other locations in Little Venice and Kingston, I’m already planning my next visit—this time with my wife. At Chakra, the food, atmosphere, and service combine to create a hidden gem in London’s vibrant food scene. Highly recommended for lovers of Indian cuisine!

Bhel puri- I asked for no onions in this appetizer and they removed the tomatoes and pomegranate as well and there was no tamarind sauce. Basically only rice puffs and bhujia. I called the restaurant all evening but line was cut each time. Rest of the food was average, meat in the briyani was 3 huge pieces and prawns were over cooked. This was my first time at the restaurant and it was disappointing. Check all take aways before leaving the restaurant.

The Kensington Curry Club were pleased to hold their September meeting at Chakra Kensington. The most helpful manager devised a menu for the seven of us that included an inspired selection of starters followed by main courses that included a perfectly prepared ‘Old Delhi Butter Chicken’, Paneer Butter Masala, delicious Dal Makhani along with a range of accompaniments. The service was immaculate and very friendly in the comfortable dining room….I expect that a number of our members will be returning to this delightful restaurant!

Wow what a fantastic place. Bottomless Brunch for my friend and I. Fine Indian food served in a beautiful space. Our Waiter was friendly and let us know about the origins of the food and there was no rush whatsoever. One of the best Brunch and bubbly we have ever had. Thank you

This was our first visit to Chakra and it was a real treat. The food is honestly the best Indian food we have ever eaten (including some of the best award-winners in Bradford!) and I am in love with the Chicken Kathi Rolls which were divine and my husband is still raving about the delicious keema naan. I can’t recommend this restaurant highly enough and we can’t wait until our next visit to London to dine here again. Many thanks to Mayank who was a fabulous host and couldn’t have done more to help and make our visit extra special.

Good location and dog friendly In the best way possible most unauthentic Indian food we’ve ever had The food arrived quickly and was cold The waiter said it had gotten cold because of the weather as it was nippy The meat platter when arrived on the table was not only cold but also looked stale - not fresh at all Won’t be returning

Such tasty and spicy food, lovely atmosphere. We sat outside in the sun and was so lovely. And a big thanks to Mayank, who was exceptional. He helped lift my dads wheelchair into the restaurant, and was so nice throughout.

Had our post-engagement lunch at Chakra with guests ranging from 5 to 70 years. All attendees really enjoyed the food and the service and care provided by staff was fantastic. Everyone commented on the great location that felt intimate and welcoming for us to be able to enjoy our meal and time together. Really grateful for the staff that helped make our day memorable and will be back soon to enjoy more of the delicious food. Highly recommended!

Food was good while I got hair on top of biriyani , services was quite slow . All about good

Came with a table of 7 work colleagues, booked before easily, amended table number when more arrived, food recommended was the best Indian food in London, good portions, there was nice music, we weren’t rushed (Wednesday evening) and the waiter was really nice (if slightly not present, so had to try to get his attention sometimes. Will be back for sure

What a fantastic experience and wonderful cuisine. Excellent staff very knowledgeable brilliant atmosphere really comfortable, I ate everything and licked the plate clean. I had the chicken curry and it was delicious probably the best curry I’ve had in a long while. The mushroom rice you could eat on its own that’s how good it was. This is a boutique restaurant vey small but comfortable the atmosphere is very nice you will definitely have to book or be disappointed. This is probably the best Indian restaurant in London I was amazed how good the food was definitely I will be back there again and again. Fantastic exquisite food beautiful surroundings.

We had the bottomless brunch and I was blown away both by the value and how good the food was. Everything on the table was both generous and delicious and for £35 with prosecco was unbelievable value. We will absolutely come again and worth travelling across London for. 100% recommend. We had fantastic service from Darshan!

Another delicious meal at Chakra - this is our go-to local Indian restaurant, always exceptionally delicious - they’ve got some more unusual and different dishes on offer you don’t see everywhere else. I personally love the pani puri, Bombay ki Bhel Puri, fish moilee, rice, and rasmalai for pudding. Nice cocktails too. Decor and atmosphere is lovely too and has an decking outdoor seating area with heaters. Staff are always friendly and welcoming too :)

Definitely not authentic Indian food, the panner makani and butter chicken both tasted like tomato soup was horrible. The tandoori prawns was ok. Would not recommend.

A real hidden gem for authentic Indian food in Kensington. The place itself is fairly small and nondescript, but the food is simply amazing. So full of flavour and delicious. We ordered the Dal Makhani, Veg Kadai and Saag Paneer with some assorted bread to go with it. Everything was spot on and the service was quick. Definitely recommended.

This is a small restaurant in Central London. The food is fresh and excellent. Not too expensive and have a good small sitting place. I really liked the service and food was really good.

What a fabulous restaurant! I organised a big group gathering - 17 of us - and was struggling to find a restaurant in Kensington that was happy to accommodate us. Darshan, the manager could not have been more helpful. We exchanged several emails and phone calls in preparation for the evening and he, together with Rahul, made us so welcome last evening. The menu selection we settled on was freshly made, vibrantly colourful and absolutely delicious - everyone agreed. We had the whole of the downstairs inside to ourselves which meant we didn't disturb anyone else and had such a happy evening. Darshan, brace yourself, we may be back! Thank you so much. Highly recommended!

It was indeed a memorable experience at Chakra, Kensington. The restaurant has beautiful ambience and serves mouthwatering delicacies. Really impressed by their service especially the manager, Darshan who took good care of us and ensure that we had a great time. I’ll surely visit this place again. Just a small note, the restaurant seemed to busy during weekend..prior reservation is recommended.

Came for a special occasion (anniversary). I asked in advance to give a nice table, a waiter greeted us very coldly and asked to choose any table we want. After visiting the bathroom we were absolutely disgusted: water and paper on the floor (and we were the first visiters). Then they gave us the menu: dirty, torn pages, not changed for ages. And nothings was special on the menu either. Very disappointing after visiting this place several times before. We walked away and there's still no apologies.

The restaurant is cozy and in a quaint neighborhood. The staff here are very friendly and service is great. Food here is out of this world, it's scrumptious, beautifully plated. Overall I had an excellent evening. Would recommend this restaurant.

Great atmosphere and proximity to local transport. We ordered the butter chicken and naans, which were passable. Butter chicken was on the sweeter end. The chicken tikka and bhel appetizers were extraordinary! Service was OK— they seemed to be under staffed and we had longer wait times for our tables to be cleaned and to get the check!

It is a quaint neighborhood spot with delicious food. I would recommend it...the service was great.

Whilst the service was impeccable here, the evening was slightly let down by the food. Somethings we had were excellent, Pani Puri, Avocado dumplings, Chatt (starters) however the mains didn't live up to the preclude to the meal. The panneer was watery and the lamb chops were mainly bone. The Desi salad wasn't chopped, it was sliced tomato, onion and cucumber which was just odd and disappointing. I expected a bowl of refreshing salad. The prawns were stand out, however there were only three. For the price, I would expect more. All in all, not a complete disaster, with a few tweaks this restaurant could be great, but right now, it's just not worth the premium prices they are charging.

Sehr kleines Lokal mit sehr leckerer und reichlicher indischer Küche. Leider hat uns der Kellner bzw. Wir ihn nicht do gut verstanden. Das Essen hat das aber mehr als wett gemacht. Beim nächsten London- Besuch gerne wieder

You need to find this place as it's off the main road and not visible just by the drives. We could locate quickly as we were walking around. Food is OK and service is good. Atmosphere wise it's not too alluring but very basic, and also a bit tight seating. Have not visited their other branches, so can't compare. If you have run out with options as most of the restaurants need a pre booking in the area and wait times for walk in go around an hour, this restaurant can come as rescue option for you.

Small but excellent place for Indian food in Kensington. It was Saturday, we had a couple of little children with us and no reservation. They were very nice and gracious and decided to accommodate us even though they had a tight timeline. They were very helpful, provided good recommendations and every dish we tried, from the paneer to the lamb to the chicken, turned out to be delicious. Will be back for sure and recommend highly.

A colleague brought me here. We loved it. Food was absolutely delicious, & our server was fantastic. The place is small, & intimate. Reservations are a must, as there is not much seating. Great menu, I'd love to come again.

Hidden in a one way street at the heart of a quiet neighbourhood just a few steps from the main road. Delicious food, served traditionally. Very tasty and very special.

One of the best Indian restaurants.. Very delicious food especially murg stew, samosa chat, dahi k kabab etc. along with the drinks facilities as well Love the atmosphere as well. Highly recommend 🥂🥂

Tiny portions, excessivly huge prices. I have taken a Signature Dish (murg-e stew chicken) the waiter came back because the dish has to be served with rice or bread. I have chosen garlic bread. They charged me for it even if the dish was already 16£. Without the bread the dish was 4 small pieces of chicken in a typical Indian pan (5cm?). My friend has chosen the Malai Chicken Tikka, not better. 4 pieces of chicken still with bones on it, all for the modest price of 13£. They still charged 6£ for service… We came in hungry, we went out hungry and poor.

Food here is very good overall and has excellent flavour. We had a range of dishes including Tikka Masala, spicy minced lamb, spicy prawn curry, a whole bunch of egg fried rice, garlic naan and keema naan. Two of our party also had mango lassi which was very good too. The best thing about the food here is that it's not greasy and it's very easy on the stomach, so you don't feel heavy after eating it. Everything tasted very fresh and nicely made and presentation was also fantastic!

Excellent service, very cozy environment and delicious food. Many vegetarian options as well. An absolute gem in the neighbourhood. Highly recommended.
