We ate here as the place we had intended to eat at was closed. There was a specials menu ranging from expensive roast dinners to cajun wraps. Nothing suitable for vegetarians. I asked if they had anything veggie and was met with a blank stare. I opted for a scone (a whole scone for lunch) which was rock hard. The server swapped it for another one, which was less hard as it had been semi heated. The other diners had paninis which seemed to be OK. Disappointing visit however the server was probably the friendliest person you'll ever meet.

They had advertised roast of the day beef or turkey and ham, I ordered turkey and ham, I got chicken slices and it wasn't freshly cooked it was from a packet, it's expensive I won't be coming here again and I highly recommend that if your looking fresh cooked food then do not come here this place is awful.

5 of us found ourselves starving this afternoon whilst out golfing. Someone came up with the bright idea of getting a Sunday roast from McLaughlin's corner. Unbelievable idea. It was deadly. Extra gravy and horseradish sauce and all. If you are hungry and you are near Kilrea get one of these.

Stopped here for a morning coffee at the Corner Stone Coffee Shop part of McLaughlins Corner. Availability of eats was non existent; there was two scones and three pancakes wrapped in plastic. Ordered a scone that was extremely dry and crumbly, and was not fresh. Coffee was flavorless, although hot. I cannot speak for the restaurant part of the establishment, but would not recommend the coffee shop at all.

I like going to McLaughlins corner, if we are really hungry. They really do some great food, but I can't understand why the potato mash always tastes of oil. Do they put oil in it instead of butter, strange..Otherwise excellent.

My friend won a voucher toward a meal in this place and we went to the Sunday carvery... if I had to pay for it I wouldn't go... Young ladies serving didn't appear to know what they were doing preferring to gather and chat... when we went to the main meal part of the carvery we stood for about 5 mins as no one there at the time to carve the meat! Staff walked by us and could see this but did nothing!!!!... Saw a family next to us with a baby in a baby chair but when they just lifted the baby to nurse her the staff took the chair away and gave it another family who came in leaving the first family to have to nurse the child when they got their dinner... not a good experience!

I’d passed this Restaurant many times over the years but was always on a schedule and couldn’t stop. Finally had the time to stop and explore. The staff are very pleasant, and our food arrived very promptly. What we had ordered was fine but I couldn’t say it was full of flavour . Indeed it was simply regular restaurant fare, not too expensive and served with a smile. I’ll return and hopefully find that it lives up to its local reputation.

We arrived as part of a large party for christmas dinner. We chose the baked cod which was served first. We were both given the tail end of the cod, which was dry, grey, and inedible. The vegetables were boiled into mush, sprouts and carrots. Potatoes were one roast and two scoops of mash which were grey and unappetising. We returned our food to the waitress who offered no apology. We were told that the cod would be freshly cooked for us. On arrival, it was a better cut of fish, and moist. We were able to eat the fish and one roast potato each. The sauce accompanying the fish was like yellow milk which we could not use. The second plate of food arrived on cold greasy plates. No apology was proferred! Another of our party beside us had roast beef which was tough and very difficult to cut through (he did not complaint as he thought there was no point as staff were indifferent and uninterested). Coffee served was watery with no coffee taste. There was no accompnying biscuit offered. After the meal we tried several times to get a drink from the bar but there were no staff there or at reception. When ee eventually got served the beer was served in an obviously dirty glass. When pointed out to the barmaid, ther was no response and no apology. Terrible disapointment on what should have been a relaxing and happy xmas day out. We will not return.

My husband and I called in today for soup and tea. We were served quickly in the restaurant. There was no-one else there at the time. We ordered soup and tea. The soup was piping hot and very tasty, although it was served in quite a small bowl. I would have appreciated a bigger serving as we were not ordering anything else. Two soups and tea for two came to over ten pounds, which I thought was a bit expensive.

Were seated quickly and given a choice of 2 soups both were hot and delicious accompanied by a small roll and butter. Next a choice of 5 cold entrees. These were also very tasty and presented well. After a small break we tackled the mains. Turkey gammon and beef with all the trimmings. Absolutely delicious. Desserts were well made and varied with about 6 different ones followed by tea or coffee. All in all a great experience with not one negative

I was disgusted as this is the second time this has happened to us . I just cannot sing the praises enough with regard Martin McKay, the head cook and co-owner with his lovely wife, at McLaughlin’s Corner. Just down the road from the historic village of Kilrea and located near the renown Bann River, this historic restaurant is well known and frequented by locals. Martin has many good choices on the lunch and dinner menu that will please anyone’s palate. From sizzling Cantonese dishes to pan fried duck breast and at reasonable prices, makes this a gem of a restaurant in the Bann River area. That said, I have to further to compliment the grace and down home friendliness of the McKay family and their excellent servers. Of all the eateries and fine dinning establishments we've patronage in our 26 day journey throughout the Green Isle, McLaughlin’s stands high in our memories for a memorable meals, decent price and above all, warm Irish hospitality. If you ever find yourself traveling in the area or your planning to fish the famous Bann, be sure to swing by McLaughlin’s.

It looks very nice from the outside and has plenty of parking space. We were surprised when we entered the restaurant as its like going into a very old fashioned parlour. It was clean but has a horrible green carpet and different patterned curtains hanging, that didn't match anything else ...... everything was a complete mismatch. The food on the other hand, was very good and the price was good value. Also, the staff were very polite & friendly. Its a shame, as just a tin of magnolia paint would help to brighten this place up .... and lose the carpet & curtains and I'm sure it will get lots more custom. The food was good as was the price, so we probably would return.

An unexpected invitation for lunch at this restaurant didn't require much thought - it was an immediate yes.I was privileged to be in the company of a number of leading figures in public life and even though we arrived 45 minutes ahead of schedule, slightly wrong footing the receptionist, we were made most welcome and immediately invited to take our seats.Menus were promptly placed on the table and the ''kitchen' swung into action in double quick time. The choice of food was appealing and we were made aware of a couple of 'extras'. Within a short time the food was delivered and there wasn't a single complaint. Quite simply, it was delicious and plenty on the plate!Staff were friendly, attentive and the room proved a welcoming and warming place on a cold March afternoon.McLaughlins Corner is a well-established venue and has always had a good reputation for providing decent fare. It's been some years since I last paid a visit and it was gratifying to come back to enjoy the same standard.I would thoroughly recommend this place for food. I was looking for somewhere central for my child's 18th birthday and we decided to use McLaughlins corner. Very bad decision. Table was booked for 5:30 we arrived at 5:15 and had to wait until 5:30 before any staff member came to speak to us only because some of us had travelled quite a distance or I would have cancelled the booking and left. The 3 kids were very hungry and disappointed there was nowhere to sit or for them to do. We were eventually seated at a table and told someone would be with us shortly for our order. The menu was not explained to us and we were not offered any drinks. We were eventually seated at 5:35 and server came at 5:55 to take our starters. We then had to wait until 6:22 before starters came. Starters consisted of a teaspoonful of prawns with no sauce and a sorry looking small little gem leaf of lettuce, or a small finger roll sliced in two set on a small slice of onion a small leaf of little gem again and a scraping of melted butter but no garlic the ribs were two small ribs which were bare of any meat and just complete bone no sauce or nothing just two ribs set on a large plate. Table was eventually cleared and we did not receive our main courses until 7:10 by that time two of the three children were sleepy grumpy and very hungry. My son asked twice what the wait was and was told they were busy. Considering there was only 8 other folk in the restaurant and that was it I dont know what was going on in the kitchen. Mains came 4 small chicken gougons and approximately 25 chips and a thimble of dip the meals were cool and the gougons were hard as boards and dried out. The 3 kids did a bit better they got 5 dippers and 8 smily faces each. The chicken maryland must have stayed in maryland My son's 3 year old cleared her plate her sisters and half of her dads she was that hungry her brother had by this time fell asleep and missed his dinner. Desserts were only slightly better with the chocolate fudge cake serving about 50 folk the slices were paper thin. Totally demoralising for the whole family and for my child's 18th birthday. My father in law went up with my son to complain but it fell on deaf ears and no one was interested. They were told that service was to a high standard and that also meals were very good value. We left bitterly disappointed and my child's 18th was completely ruined and wish we had never booked. We will never be back and will definitely advise anyone who is considering going or trying out the main course get starter and dessert free menu to avoid and go elsewhere. My father in law took us all out two nights later to another place in the area where we were welcomed and had an excellent meal which turned out just as cheap and food was delicious.

Was five courses which was soup, there was a choice and I went for vegetable which was lovely, next was cold starters of egg mayo, salmon, prawns, potato salad, noodles, salad etc I think a few hot starters as well would have been nice and a bit more of a selection as well would be better, our party skipped this course. The main was delicious, with a great selection of potatoes and veg and the meat was perfectly cooked. Desert was also lovely with a good selection to choose from and the final course was tea and coffee. The lady who greeted us at the reception was very friendly and cheerful, the only thing that let down the visit was the waitresses, I caught them staring and giggling at customers several times and I'm not quite sure what their problem was, very immature.

I've been to this Family run establishment on many occasions now and have to say I have never had a bad meal in it yet. McLaughlin's Corner was initially recommended to my Parents many years ago by neighbours of ours and after trying it they enjoyed it so much they have became regular customers. Hence how I was introduced to it. And I can honestly say hand on heart that you couldn't meet nicer people or enjoy good wholesome food in a more homely environment anywhere else. The Sunday Dinner or Lunch is absolutely delicious. My personal favourite being the Steak or Roast Beef Dinner. And the Sticky Toffee Pudding is just heaven. The Staff are more than helpful with anything you need. Everyone makes you feel at home and makes a real effort to chat and get to know you that it's just like visiting friends now when we go there and they try to seat you in an area you prefer if possible and if you haven't tried it yet then you're definitely missing out. This is a place to relax and enjoy a yummy meal with a great family atmosphere and buzz about the place. And I can honestly say if you try it once you'll definitely be back. I can't wait to get out again for a real succulent tasty Steak. It's a hidden gem. Keep up the Good Work McLaughlin's and keep up the Yummy Food. I'll be out again soon for a big feed. :0)

Mclaughlins corner is always a cert for good food And now even better value too as the menu has changed. We love the warm surroundings and staff are always attentive and friendly. I had fillet steak (a firm favourite I this establishment) as the meat is always tender and cooked to perfection. Would recommend this restaurant for good food and good value.

My husband, 3 children and I visited McLaughlins Corner on Sunday 10/8/13 and i was disappointed. i have been several times in the past in the evenings but never for Sunday lunch and unfortunately never again. I pre-booked a table for the lunch - not carvery. When we arrived we were shown promptly to our table and sat there for at least 15 mins before our order was taken. We ordered starters and main course. Starters eventually arrived after another 15 mins and we then waited at least another 10 /15 mins for our main meal. The food was good and i couldn't complain about it. The carvey was extremely busy and i felt that we were forgotten about because we were not taking the carvey! We were served by a pleasant young lady however the excessive delay we experienced would put me off returning!

the 5 course starter began with a choice of 2 soups..as a party of 4, three took the vegetable soup (apparently it was very good) and i opted for the mushroom and sherry ...a brave choice as i couldnt imagine what it would taste like, but it was delicious..a good choice of cold starters which included prawns, egg mayo, rice, pasta, pate on toast etc..the main was a choice of roast beef/turkey/ham and all the trimmings..dessert choices were plentiful too...tea or coffee is your 5th course..all in all a great carvery..a downside would be the long queue at the peak time..the staff are very attentive and pleasant..if you want a good meal on a sunday £16 is what you will pay at mclaughlins..

We found this place by chance when looking for somewhere to eat from where we were staying. We were the only ones in there on a Friday afternoon so as a result received very good service. We had a very enjoyable and well needed luck which was nice and reasonably priced.

As u can see from my ratings I didn't even score the food as we never received any. We had a table booked for 8 people at 730pm for my partners mothers b'day. We were in and seated at 720 with may i add only 2 Menus for 6 of us. We then waited on 2 of our guests to arrive as they got stuck in traffic. They arrived at 740 and we had drinks ordered and had got them by the time they had arrived. They took there seat and studied the menu until they came to take our order at 8pm. In the meantime a table of 20 had took there seats behind us and they must have ordered from the bar area as they had no menus when they were seated. In a short space of time there Starters came out to there table and we were still waiting on ours. We then thought ah well our starters will maybe come out after there's but No. They finished there starters and then there main courses started to come out and we still had no starters. Then to top it all off a table beside us had there main courses brought out to them and they hadn't even got there starters yet. Also a table behind us that was waiting for there mains said the soup was disgusting and was like dishwater. What a shambles of a place. By this stage it was 845 and we still had not received our starters so we took it upon ourselves to get up from our table and leave. Never be back near the place. Hope Sean McLaughlin reads these comments and takes them on board. Probably a table of locals that got served before everyone else and thats not a way to run a business.

Good enough food but when in a large group they seem to struggle to keep up. I got my main course and was waiting on my sides of veg and champ. Brought me, chips, then chilli chips and finally champ. By this stage everyone else in the party had finsished their main course. Now dont get me wrong, the food was very good and it may have just been a bad night so will try again sometime.

Me & my family are regular diners at McLaughlin's having been going there for several years for evening meals, Sunday lunch & carvery, as well as various family events. The staff are all fantastic, they always have a smile on their faces when greeting us & serving us throughout and make sure we have everything we need throughout our meal. They are all friendly, chatting away to us and making extra special efforts for any kids we take with us as well as the oldies! As for the food, we have never had a bad meal in McLaughlin's. The food is always served in a timely manner, even in big groups. We have seen 3 variations to the menu, all of which provided good selection. This recent evening menu offers great variation with spicy dishes of chicken & beef as Wel as more traditional goujons & fish. It is a great idea having the starter & dessert included in the cost of the main meal. The carvery always has a great selection of fresh foods also. The salad starters are always kept fresh & topped up while soup kept warm & full of flavour. The same goes for the main meats & veg. And I can never choose between their desserts! Yum!Their decor has just been redone. A good choice of paper, very in keeping with the country restaurant theme. It definitely makes the place warmer and makes it more up to date. All in all McLaughlin's always offers us good food at good prices, a bit of banter, & all in a good atmosphere! Thanks McLaughlin's :)

Called in with family for Sunday Lunch .. We were seated right away and handed the new menu, the price shown for each Main Course included a starter and also a sweet , a great idea !! The menu was great .. Drink order was taken and served promptly , orders were then taken and to be honest the wait for food was just too long for our liking, the food it's self was lovely no complaints there.. Well done chef !! The staff were all friendly and helpful and the atmosphere brilliant .. The reception area was in need of a facelift ,toilets are spotless!! all staff wearing uniforms in the restaurant area should be a must , can't all be bosses surely?? All in all a good wee day out for family ,, price was fair and will def. call in again ... No airs or graces about this eatery just a lovely easy going place to stop in for a "BITE"

We called in for lunch on Saturday. Although we were a bit early it was no problem. The restaurant was very 'dated' and lacked atmosphere #7 was a bit chilly. Drinks came quickly but my glass had lipstick on it - this was changed immediately when I pointed it out. The food arrived after 15 minutes. The turkey & ham dinner looked lovely & indeed was lovely. Extra roast potatoes were provided instead of mash & the gravy was worth a mention in itself. The lasagne looked like yesterday's resusitated-with-a-bit-of-cheese-on-top-that-they-won't-notice dried offering and tasting it didn't change my opinion. Had it been fresh I think that it would have been very enjoyable as the underlying flavour was good however it was as dry as a bone and rubbery edged and if it hadn't been for the colselaw it would have deen inedible. The chips were nice.2 dinners, 2 soft drinks - pennies under £20.00Staff were friendly & service was good.I don't think that we'll be back again...disappointing after being told we would get a good meal there...wouldn't suggest it to friends.

Being a regular diner at "The Corner" I have to say I have always had excellent food and service, what ever day of the week it might be. It certainly is worth a visit on Fridays at the minute, when they have a great two course steak menu at an equally great price. The Christmas grotto is an amazing feature for adults and kids alive. "The Corner" is certainly my favourite place for food, atmosphere and entertainment!

We ate at the fantastic Chinese Buffet last nite (4A). This was my 4th time eating at McLaughlin's corner and I have been impressed every time I have been. The chinese buffet was very good and at a great price. there was a good selection of dishes all freshly cooked and topped up throughout the evening. Waitress was very friendly. The function room has been redecorated since I was last there and it looks brilliant, much brighter and up to date than before. Previous times we have eaten I have always recieved excellent service. The sunday carvery is great for families but can get a little noisy if you are wanting a quiet meal as with any carvery. The weekday lunch menu is great value and food was outstanding. highly recommend the bbq chicken schnitzel (i think thats what its called). Will definately be back again!

When we arrived for a quiet sunday afternoon meal we were brought to the bar area for the carvery. We were seated under a television with X-Factor on far too loud. We asked to be moved to another area and were moved round the corner but the noise from X-Factor was still far too loud. The service was very poor, my wife had the tomato soup for a started and she said it was like watered down heinz tomato soup. I went for the cold starters. The cold started table was a poor show with prawns coated in mayo sitting an inch deep in their own juice. We had our started eaten before we were offered drinks but the barman must have found it difficult to hear over the loud X-Factor as he muddled up our order. The main was not bad but could have been a lot better. We sat after our meal for about 20 mins and no one came to ask us how our meal was or to offer tea and coffee so we left thirsty. Never again.

We as a family (2A 2C) stopped in for a evening meal, mid week. We were not offered to eat in the Restaurant but served food in the bar area. It was cold and a bit dated. The food was definately pub grub and cooked well but for me was over priced.

Was a good meal, place was extremely busy. Staff where friendly. I thought it was slightly overpriced, and although I enjoyed my meal, I probably won't rush back. I've no real complaints, I just think it's very overhyped.

We spent one night at the Port Hotel as we were visiting family in the area and heading to the Giant's Causeway. Location is good, not a far drive from the Causeway with decent restaurants nearby. Staff at the front desk and in the restaurant were friendly. The beds unfortunately were very uncomfortable.. lumpy and badly in need of updating. The hotel vibe is cute and quaint, okay for one night, but wouldn't spend a second night.
