It would have been nice to know it was closed down. Could no-one be bothered to alter your opening times? Very poor attitude to prospective customers.

One of the best places for brunch! Came with my daughter and her friend both girls absolutely LOVED their food, mine was just super yummy! Even had colouring books brought to them which is always a bonus when you go out with children!

We cane for the festive menu. This was pre ordered,what can I say,beautiful food,brilliant service,great beer. The staff are all vert friendly and made us feel very welcome. The food was fresh,hot and just enough as we had 3 courses. We will definitely be back.

Having visited several times before -in large numbers I have to say and after recommending to my friends - we were very disappointed. Unfortunately one of our party had been admitted to hospital the day we went and was unable to go for lunch. I expected to lose the £10 deposit previously paid and was completely flabbergasted when we had to pay for the whole meal! Suffice to say that if we had not turned up at all we would only have lost the deposits paid. We were asked if we wanted to eat the meal paid for and my friend asked if it could be packaged to take away. We were discouraged not to do so and told that the pastry would be soggy and it couldn’t be reheated! None of us on principle will ever go again and we will take our custom elsewhere- was it really worth losing all our custom for £14? I make cakes and take a deposit to cover costs but have never charged for a cancellation in such circumstances.

The best place for breakie on a sunday

Popped in for a cheeky brunch, and I have to say it was the best breakfast dish I have had in a long time. Everything was cooked very well, the presentation was sound and the staff were lovely. Great quality local product (sausages particularly), Good experience in general. Price was reasonable.

Equidistant for 4 parts of the family so the perfect meeting place. 1 of the family are coeliac and so require a gluten free option which they are happy to provide. Very attentive staff who are very helpful and pleasant

There was seven in our party for an early Saturday evening meal , the service was efficient and very friendly. The meals were very good .

We love coming here. The staff are always very pleasant and accommodating. They provide colouring for the kids to do and always have nice specials on. Today we ate from the brunch menu and it was absolutely delicious as always. They use top ingredients and you can tell they are good quality from the taste. Had the creme brulee for pudding today which was beautiful and the kids loved their meals, especially the brownies. Definitely recommend a visit!

Fantastic experience. We called in without reservation and seated straight away with 2 youngsters. Service was second to none, and empty plates all round. Kids loved it as all the staff were interacting with them, enhancing their experience. Were not from the area but we'd gladly make the trip back again.

What a gorgeous business. We eat here regularly, and in 3 years have never ever had a sub-standard meal. Front of house could not be more attentive: every detail from the kitchen is attended to. I love every single dish here. If you get the chance to go for a fish special please do; the sea bass and halibut are both to die for! Always looked after by Mcgilverays! Gorgeous wine, decor and staff.

Went for valentines meal, both of us had the three course meal, both had steak as our main, excellent meal and staff very friendly We will be back for coffee and cake or a full meal. Ideal location at fox valley shopping centre. Once again thank you to the chef and stall for a lovely valentines meal

Always a pleasure to eat here. We've been coming on Wednesday lunchtimes recently and had Christmas lunch here. We've never had to send anything back. Alan and Wendy are super hosts who go out of their way to make it a great experience. Great food, cooked from scratch. Happy to recommend to anyone unconditionally. Try it out and prepare to become a regular.

Booked for a pre Christmas meal with friends and family for the 23rd and as always this lovely friendly family owned restaurant did not disappoint. We had a few fussy eaters within our party who requested some changes to the standard menu items and all requests were accommodated without issue and food served to a high quality. Food and service is exceptional and Alan, Wendy and the rest of the team make every visit a delight! Can not recommend highly enough!!!

Lunch out. Arrived approx 12.35pm and was able to be seated straight away. Could clearly see that the restaurant was understaffed front of house and kitchen to cope with demand of the day. Placed drinks order and after 10 mins requested to place food order. We were asked if we could wait a further 5 minutes to place food order - no reason given. The kitchen was clearly inundated and was not coping. Drinks arrived 5 minutes later. Had to remind staff 5 minutes later to request placing of food order. 15 mins later i was told the Chicken Panko was unavailable so chose another dish only to be served 5 minutes later with a very overcooked (burnt at the edges), bland, cold, non crispy chicken panko served with cold rubbery chorizo, mushed greens (side dish) and one small (cut in half) boiled sauted potato. Unfortunately, not edible at £18.95 per dish. Very disappointing experience. I won’t be eating there again.

Came here for Sunday lunch & one of us had beef & the other steak & ale pie. Both were lovely. There wasn't a lot of veg but they were more than happy to bring more. My little one had fish & chips which was great. A big shout out to the staff who couldn't do enough to help & brought my little girl a colouring book & crayons to keep her entertained.

Always an absolute pleasure coming to this lovely restaurant. I moved to the area about 3 years ago to my girlfriend's house in Stockbridge, have eaten here several times with the missus and have come for drinks. The food is brilliant, menu has plenty of choice and the specials are updated quite often, great beers and ciders on draught too. The chef always comes out to see how we found our meals, very friendly, accomodating and lovely staff. The inside is nicely decorated and comfy, a nice outside area too. Would highly recommend!

Well worth a visit! It was a last minute decision to book here but it was well worth it. The food was really tasty and well presented. The staff had a good balance of attentiveness to us even though the restaurant was busy. The prices are very reasonable.

Absolutely great. Lovely atmosphere. We were given a warm and friendly welcome by all the staff, who couldn't do enough to make sure we had a great time. There were two young lads in particular who were just outstanding waiters. I wish I could say who they were but didn't want to ask their names. One lad (fair hair, black glasses) spent a lot of time talking with us and getting our table exactly the food we wanted. The food was just fantastic and the whole place was really nicely decorated and spotlessly clean.

Friendly staff and excellent food

Went with some friends who live local to McGilveray's....first impressions on walking in was a warm feel and a great smell of lovely food. Plenty of staff to keep everyone happy without having to get someones attention for more drinks, they came to the table often to ask if we were ok. The food was first class and the drinks menu had plenty of choice, the owner came round to every table after the service had finished. Great touch I thought, we will definitely be back soon.
