McDaniel's in Dundee City

Tennents Lager was a very poor pint .

Limited choices and pints weren't the best. Live music seemed to take ages to get started. There are better pubs. Fight broken up by police as we walked passed for a taxi later in the night.

Open late with live band and dancing

Amanda the bar person who was serving tonight was wonderful, but I'm biased cause I've known her forever! 😂😂😂❤️

Good band, great atmosphere, busy place

Rancid. Avoid! Got 3 pints of lemonade and a pint of soda water and lime. Every glass had black mould on them. These pictures do not do it justice at all. Took them back to the bar, staff unphased. Offered more drinks….erm….no thanks! Got a refund. Nipped to the loo to wash my hands, OMFG, open the door to the stairs and are hit in the face with a wall of piss. Smell gets worse as you go down. The women’s toilets was filled with tiny flies that appeared to be coming from the sanitary bin….I’m dry boking just thinking about it.

Alright pub, bit of a rowdy cròwd when I was in , but music ,staff,beer good.

Edit: they no longer serve food. 😭 Origional 5 star: I'm so surprised!!! The food was amazing. Different and remarkable. Im trying to figure out where the chef is from. The Philippines, I'm assuming, is most likely. But please do yourself a favour and order one of the specials! He makes it not spicy (if requested), and it's still flavourful! Soo happy 😊. This is also just a nice bar to hang out in. It's peaceful during the day, has live music, and is not ridiculously expensive.

Great atmosphere, Great live music but a wee bit warm in the corner where the dartboard is as the radiator is on all the time, but then, we can always move to another part, 😀 service is good

Classic rock nights at McDaniels are awesome, wide selection of drinks and non alcoholic options

Was in for some food kitchen closed shame as meals were good unfortunately had to go elsewhere after a drink probably go back but not if looking for food

Its a friendly bar but a bit dated....they used to make stunning meals not sure if they still do as that was years ago i was in.

Great wee pub but this sturgeon and her ridiculous rules are killing these places.

Good pub down to earth.Beer good prices.landlady is very firm but very fair. Its a place you should visit when in dundee only 3 minutes to town centere.

Beautifully appointed bar. Jazz themed decor. Friendly staff and excellent selection of beers and spirits. Well worth a visit.

Cool little place. Went past for some lunch after the V&A and discovery. Food was excellent (Steak Pie & Chips & Macoroni and chips). Was only one guy serving the whole bar so took a while to order and for food to come but he came over and assured us it would be soon but everything was cooked to order. Steak pie was worth the wait. Reasonable prices too👌

Good night spent here. Band were good had a few spins on the dancefloor. Prices were cheaper thanks pubs in town. All in all good night.

Great food at a decent price, friendly staff and a good pint. This pub has booths, screens and big tables. Toilets down a lot of stairs.

It was very busy and took a long time to get served but understandable when busy. One thing I found bad however was seeing the barman pouring pints with one hand and in doing so touching much of the top of the glass.

Made very welcome although we only stopped in on the way to the station.

Good for a post-work drink or two. Prices are reasonable too. The room is not well suited for live music though, and it can be exessively crowded at the bar, even though it isn't that busy.

Staff very friendly and helpful, it's important to them that you enjoy your stay

Un fast food rustique ou la nourriture est simple et bonne mais un peu grasse à mon goût. L'endroit ne paye pas de mine et c'est toujours mieux qu'un grand chains si vous avez envis de fast food.

Quiet early Saturday evening, hopefully band appearing. Pool table shifted to make space. Beer range and decor pretty basic. Close enough to Dundee railway station for quick, quiet drink and find-the-toilet!

Be interesting to see how the V&A toff visitors get on with the rough and ready clientele here on a saturday night. Toilets are shabby. Often has bands on ... usually the same ones on a monthly rotation.

A good choice of beers and a brilliant live band who played loads of my favourite songs. A great way to end the day.

Recently changed hands and new owners are brilliant, personable, friendly went to great lengths to describe the ingredients and methods used to prepare the dishes. Steak pie was superb as was the fish and chips. Great find.... won't be disappointed... exceeded expectations. Would like to see mushy peas with Fish and Chips but otherwise brilliant.

Good pub for live bands at the weekend

Looks ok inside, but we struggled to get a seat. Sat outside though it was cold. Had 1 drink. Tried to get another but only 1 person serving and she was run off her feet. So we left.

Me and the Wife had a meal here recently. Not only was the meal excellent quality the personel service we received from Owner/Chef was second to none. Defoe be back 🤗

Great grub. Pete is very friendly and welcoming as the lovely lady with the lovely nail polish who served us. I had the fish which was beautiful. Nice pub to have a drink or meal with friends or family. Very friendly.

Great pub, great food, staff great also. But food all @ reasonable prices & plenty of it!!! Also, sister pub round corner in Union St, the Star & Garter is Brill as well. Staff great there also & friendly atmosphere with great pies!!!. All in all you won't be disappointed in both pubs. Enjoy. G Dow.

Worst pool table in Dundee . Like playing on the Law Hill . Great pint of Tennents though and really friendly .

Few seats and tables outside so was able to relax in the sun with an ice cold drink. Staff were friendly.
