Mazzoli in East Lothian

Quite honestly this is the best pizza I’ve had in years! Our first visit and so glad we live locally as will be back many times I’m sure. Can’t fault the pizza - lovely thin crispy base, very generous toppings, perfectly seasoned and quite simply delicious. And very reasonably priced too. Only a few tables if you want to eat in so probably best to book, especially for larger groups.

What a great find! Definitely one of the best pizzas I’ve ever tasted. It was on the specials board - pulled port, Parma ham, fennel sausage, rocket (and I asked them to add some chillies😉) and it was excellent. Crammed with topping, fabulous flavours and freshly prepared. My wife had a seafood risotto which was crammed with king prawns, mussels etc. She gave it a 9/10 for tastiness (I don’t do seafood so I can’t comment🤷‍♂️). I loved the signs - “eaterie” to your right, “drinkerie” The wine was a very reasonable price (yes of course I googled it and found it on Majestic so the markup wasn’t as bad as most restaurants). I’m not going to apologies for the empty plate in the photo coz I’d finished everything before I started this review😉 We will be back!

Went once for dinner and once for lunch and will be back again (and again :)) The staff is really lovely, the food is fresh and delicious with loads of choice including for vegetarian and the prices more than reasonable. Today we had a 3 course lunch for under £14! I had the breaded fish and it was the freshest I've ever had! Eating in the cutest walled beer garden which is so obviously tended with love. Beautiful flowers and adorable veg plot. Just like with the menu, hard to make a choice of where to seat with all the different wee set ups just as inviting...

This gem on the High Street has a handful of tables but felt authentically Italian. The menu is reassuringly simple, and the main courses are very reasonable. Excellent service, delicious food.

Always great food and service. The pricing is also very reasonable. They do a great lunch deal through the week. Would highly recommend.

Here for lunch .Vegan pizza which was great Mum had home made soup and home baked bread .We had a few coffees .Food was amazing , very tasty.Staff were friendly and attentive

Chose because of story board on outside about owner’s father. Turned out a great pick. Lovely evening and nice chat with owner.

Scrupulously clean and still has a pub feel to it. First class food and a warm welcoming atmosphere. Easy parking close to the centre of Haddington and ideal for river walks.

Came across Mazzoli by chance at lunchtime. Great value at £8.95 for 3 good size courses.£17 for bottle of wine. Could not fault it. Staff very pleasant also. Will return.

Visited whilst on the way home from the national air museum, a great little discovery it was too ! Well presented tasty food at a reasonable price , would definitely visit again if I’m in the area

The ambience leaves a lot to be desired. The food was average. The service was poor and the food and drink were expensive

Lovely restaurant serving gorgeous Italian food, friendly helpful service, and a great selection of wines. Recommend it highly - if you’ve not been - you must try it! Looking forward to the next time 😃

Eaten here twice and the food has been great both times, sensible prices and the staff are friendly and attentive, definitely worth a visit if you are in haddington.

A lovely Autumn morning, a brisk walk along the banks of the Tyne and an exploration on foot of the historic town of Haddington, birthplace of John Knox, lead us to the Mazzoli Italian Kitchen. The place was empty when we arrived and so we had the undivided attention of the serving staff. We chose the fixed price lunch. Special mention has to be made of the Minestrone soup and accompanying thick warm Italian style bread and butter which was to die for. Indeed the whole meal was a very pleasurable experience topped off as it was with irresistible Italian ice cream. It is often said that the simple things in life are the best. This was a simple meal. Great friendly service too.By the time we had finished the restaurant was full - deservedly so.

We had a very nice. Meal and went back. Again hadn't booked so they offered us a table in the bar which was a bit grim so I would defiantly book

Quality of food and service is in line with what you pay. it is basic and nothing fancy. Make sure you book a table to the front of the property and not near the toilets situated at the back.

What a great time food was delicious and the service was great Anne and Paul were great hosts and a special mention to Charlie different class

Visited with friends and we all had two courses. No complaints from anyone in the group. Very good value for money and despite the place being busy the service was great. The staff brought my gluten free courses out first to avoid any confusion. Overall an excellent experience.

They have a special offer on Thursdays - steak and chips for £15, with a drink. It was good and I must go back again sometime. It's got a good reputation for its Italian food.

We caught them on a bad day when they were full and were a chef down due to a staff illness. As you can imagine, things were running pretty slowly but the staff did a great job of keeping everyone informed of the delays. Food was fine, crazy value for money and not surprising that they were so busy. Would go again.

We visit on a regular basis and food and service are very reliable. This tine we had the specials of salmon and dolcelatte pizza and cod with risotto. Both lovely. Real ale in the pub is great too.

Had a fab evening with friends a couple of weeks back , food was very good service was excellent , would highly recommend , served a group of ten without a hiccup, my calamari was delicious, as was my half Americano pizza , half seafood pasta, didn't hear one complaint at the table. Mazzoli are fast friendly and extremely efficient at what they do. Great value for money. Cant wait to check out the new beer garden that's ready to open.

Located in one half of a nice bar, but still feels like a standalone restaurant. Food was very good and genuinely Italian. Nothing stunning, but all very good. Definitely happy to return.

Where do i start regarding the choice and value ,top marks in all areas.Lunch or dinner the food is terrific and great value and staff very attentive and great fun.

Recently attended our annual Christmas lunch in the Tyneside Tavern. I have to say that this was the best meal ever. Top marks to all the staff who delivered a fantastic meal for about 35 of us at the same time. The food was excellent, the staff outstanding and a great day was had by all.

Had an amazing surprise 60th Birthday party. Food was an excellent buffet, service equally as good and the whole team were totally fabulous.

We dropped in here for lunch and were amazed by the quality and the price. I found the linguine bolognese particularly good. Nice setting next door to the Tyneside Tavern

We booked a table for 15 and everyone has left happy. Food was reasonably priced and service was very speedy considering how many of us there was. One of the staff even let our young nephew to go and make his own dessert- highlight of his night! We will certainly be back.

A wonderful experience all round delicious food and plenty of it, service complimented the surroundings and added to the excellent food.

I’d visited with a friend and enjoyed it so took the family along for my birthday dinner.

We were in Haddington for the wonderful Lammermuir Festival, and looked in at Mazzoli's for a quick snack before an evening concert. They were very happy to serve us, and we had the best Minestrone we've eaten in ages--so good, that we booked for lunch the next day. Back again, we couldn't choose between the Risotto Mare and the Risotto ai Funghi, so asked if they could give us both half of each! They were very happy to oblige, and the results were the best Risottos we've ever tasted. Good house wine, good range of beers on tap, very friendly and prompt service.

Amazing fresh food, great for family as menu suited all our tastes With breaded fish and chips to freshly cooked pizzas. Fabulous homely atmosphere. Would highly recommend.

A group of 10 of us had lunch here, staff were great and food was Delicious. I couldn't make my mind up between a pasta dish or a pizza so the waiter offered me half and half even though it wasnt on the menu. Good variety and great for kids also

We have eaten here lots in the evening but a first today for lunch. My friends and I all ordered the 3 course lunch and it did not disappoint. Great value at £8.95 and delicious food, I would not hesitate to recommend.

This is fairly recently opened back up as an italian and it is lovely!. Visit frequently , never had anything to complain about. When I have messaged in advance re a booking they are always prompt in responding and accommodating requests. I visit regularly with other mums as the lunchtime menu is very good value and the food is great! Defo worth a visit if your passing. Enjoy , your welcome

We've eaten here a few times now and the food is very good. The pizzas are by far the best in town. Hopefully down the line they will offer to do them to take away!!

Mazzoli is a lovely bistro attached to the popular Tyneside Tavern pub. We arrived at a typically busy lunch time and were accommodated quickly by the host. Some lovely ales on draught from the pub were followed by the outrageously reasonable Lunch menu which is less than 9 quid for three courses - proper sized courses at that. The food was all freshly cooked and dessert home made. No wonder it was so busy for a Wednesday, we've been in the evening as well and both times it has been excellent. A place not to be missed and infinitely better than the chain restaurants which dominate the market just now - and cheaper to boot!

Arriving for a lunch at Mazzoli, we were unsure exactly what we wished to eat. Charlie, front of house, gave us a warm welcome and proceeded to help and advise us altering the menu to suit our needs. Staff attentive but not overly so!

We went here to have lunch before setting off home to the south of England. As well as the menu, they do a set lunch for 8.95. With 3 courses and plenty of choice it was a no brainer. With 5 or 6 choices of starters and mains and 2 choices for desert we were not diappointed, the food being mostly italian. I had bruchetta, Bolognese linguine and 3 icecream scoops. My husband had bruchetta and chicken and mushroom pizza plus the icecream too. The service was great and very friendly. We will definitely go back when we go up to Haddington again! Thank you

Visited Mazzoli's today with 3 friends, and it was wonderful. Service was excellent, and can't fault any of the food. We all had starters and mains (too full for pudding!), and everything was spot-on. My bruschetta to start with was very generous, and covered in fresh tomato, herbs and balsamic, and my mushroom, garlic and cream risotto was the best I've had anywhere. My friends were all equally impressed, and we will certainly be back! Prices brilliant too :)

We had lunch here last Saturday and loved it! Makes a change to the usual restaurants in Haddington. The restaurant has a cosy feel and I like how its separated from the bar side of the building. I had the risotto and enjoyed it a lot! One of the diners is a picky eater and even he was happy!

Stayed 6 days in Haddington and we ate on 3 consecutive nights here as we enjoyed the food so much. Everything was delicious - we had the steak one night then pasta dishes the other two. Had starters and mains only which was fresh, tasty, and cooked to perfection. Lovely cosy and busy restaurant- all staff kind and helpful and quick service. Compliments to the Chef! Thank you all for adding to a wonderful time in Scotland.

Was at Mazzoli for lunch today and was so disappointed. The actual menu makes good reading but the the execution is a different story.

Looked at a few establishments on-line before choosing this one as it had a very reasonably priced (£8.75) 3 course menu including tea or coffee. The three of us all had the same: soup of the day; breaded chicken in tomato sauce, chips with salad followed by ice cream washed down with a lovely bottle of white wine and to finish off a good cup of coffee. The food was hot and portions just right for folk like us of mature years who are not able for large portions. Waiter service excellent and the ambience just right for us. NB: there are a couple of small secluded area's at the back of the restaurant for more intimate dining or families with children maybe.

Had the cappriccosa pizza. lovely thin base... the authentic Italian way. Calimari was sublime.... lime and homemade mayonnaise..... I even ate the delicious salad. Italian in Haddington...SORTED
