Treated my mum to sparkling afternoon tea here while visiting from Wales. Beforehand the Winter Gardens put me in touch with Anusha at the cafe because I wanted to make it a little special for her as she was 60. I only expected a little candle stuck in her scone or something but Anusha arranged banners on the table, balloons and was really attentive when we arrived, taking photographs for us. The tea itself was delightful, just the right amount! What a lovely day, it really made our trip. Thanks Anusha and team.

3 out of 10 ....lovely relaxing surroundings for a coffee and cake /toastie etc and is fresh and airy and shows the history of the building from its early beginnings decades ago. Prices are a wee bit on the dearer side as expected...but I was disappointed when I got my coffee and found my spoon was filthy or hadn't been cleaned or whatever....and there was no way I was going to stir my coffee with that! Luckily I used a disposable wooden stirrer but I was surprised that the high standards of this cafe seem to be slipping...I hope it was a one off!

I had lunch here twice whilst visiting the Winter Gardens for a weekend event. The sandwich I had was soggy and tiny for £3.00 which was overpriced but the soup was delicious at £3.50 with a tiny bread roll and butter. Coffee was decent and the cakes looked great but I didn’t try them. Staff were pleasant but seemed disorganised and the wait for coffee was too long and portion sizes inconsistent. One soup we had was full whilst another was half the size. A 500ml bottle of water was £2.50 and all food and drink was served on paper plates/cups/cutlery which is odd given it’s marketed as a high end piano bar café. It’s more cafeteria style I would say, which the prices don’t reflect. It has plenty of tables and good decor.

Had coffee and cake on a Thursday afternoon in October. The lattes were very milky and the cake slices were substantial but covered with an overly sweet cream icing. Best thing about the food and drink was the bottle of cola!Live singer from the room next door was a bit loud. The reason to come to this place is the decor. The setting is splendid with lots of interesting things to look at as you drink coke.Disappointing.....but the Winter Gardens is fab!

This place only does sandwiches, soup and cakes. They have six sandwiches on the menu We arrived at 1 o’clock to find they only had three left!!! I had a tuna mayo sandwich. It was okay but it could have done with more salad inside. Also the only crips available were Pringles ready salted. My companion had the soup of the day. It was meant to be served with a bread roll and butter. It came with a bread roll however there was no butter. Eventually the butter arrived 20 minutes later from another part of the building, after we had finished our meal!!! The soup was beef and tomato. It tasted like leftover Bolognese sauce!!! There are plenty of other cafes next door to the Winter gardens go there instead!!!! Little wonder this Art Deco gem was empty!!!

We called for coffee this afternoon & was appalled at the miserable dark haired waitress that served us. I was kept waiting nearly 5 minutes before being served, in this time she was stood tending to the coffee machines??? She did say begrudgingly, after what seemed a very long time, that she would be with me shortly with no smile & no interest shown. I was then served & waited again more than 5 minutes for the coffee. When it did arrive she handed the tray over saying one latte & one cappuccino, no smile & no thank you. I was mortified by the long & abysmally poor service. We did notice other customers waiting a long time to be served & one lady had to shout for service. Come on Winter Gardens, this is not the first time we have encountered ignorant staff, please please employ staff with good customer service skills, who put their customers first. We will not be returning!

I am sure some will think that the Decor in this establishment is Dated, Dark and Dingy. I Disagree. To me Mazzei Cafe is quite classy, with a1920s feel to it.We visited at a quiet time, so there were no speed of Service Issues. The brews we had were most acceptable and reasonably priced for the locality. If you are visiting the Winter Gardens then you will obviously come across Mazzei Cafe. We came to an afternoon show ,& decided to grab a sandwich before it started. There was one table occupied when we sat down so we thought service wouldhave been quick. How wrong we were . Four of us decided on cheese & onion toasties. They came after a long wait with the thinnest slice of tomato I have ever seen a couple of lettuce leaves & a spoonful of coleslaw. It got really busy so how long these people had to wait I don't know. Would not go again.

We were in the winter gardens for Illuminasia, and called in here for a bite to eat for lunch. Hugh place, very impressive decor, a pianist was playing, so we thought nice...but the menu was very small, ended up being a rather grand coffee shop. Nice selection of cakes, and sandwiches however, which was ok for us. Only did about 5 meals to speak of. Found it all a bit strange. Took over 5 mins to get my coffees, and buy my sandwiches, although the staff did apologise... Prices are ok however, and the sandwiches were ok.

Went here for lunch having not been in quite some time. The only good thing was that the pianist was in playing hits from the musicals. There was no hot food available and no explanation offered, simply 'we aren't doing hot food today', we had two toasted sandwiches, some cakes and some drinks. I could have made nicer toasties at home, the cakes were just ok, the coffee was terrible. Worst of all, however was the attitude of the staff, I genuinely felt that we were annoying them by ordering anything at all. Top notch! Booked afternoon tea for a 70th birthday treat for 6 adults and 2 children. We booked for the stunning art deco surroundings but to be honest we expected average to poor food as our expectations of Blackpool are pretty low but we were delighted with what we received. Beautifully presented on contemporary 3 tier stands, we enjoyed delicate sandwiches with lovely soft, fresh bread and generous, tasty fillings, fresh that day fruited scones with clotted cream and good jam, and a top layer of exquisite-looking cupcakes, all served with decent tea and coffee. All this was less than £50 for all of us which we thought was incredible value. The staff were helpful and pleasant and the manager of the Grill opposite was very helpful on the phone when we booked. We could not fault our experience at all and would thoroughly recommend. If this was anywhere other than Blackpool, it would be treasured and busy all year. I would put this cafe's afternoon tea (and a tour of the Winter Gardens if you can) at the top of any visitor's itinerary. Thanks for making us feel that there is hope for Blackpool yet!

I think the term café gives the wrong impression for this place. It is a huge room with an art deco look about it and a pianist in the middle of the room playing a selection of show songs. That's not something you get in the average Blackpool café. My friend and I had a coffee and cake which was delicious. They do meals as well and the prices on the menu looked reasonable. A group of people on the table next to us had the afternoon tea with sandwiches and cakes. The menu states that you have to pre-book this. On the wall there is a screen which shows pictures of old Blackpool. If you are looking for somewhere relaxing to eat and drink away from the town centre this is a good place. However it does get very busy especially when there are shows on at the Winter Gardens. There is also the added advantage of the beauty of the Winter Gardens building itself.

Visited with my husband . Decided to go here as wanted something different from usual same old high street coffee shops . And it certainly was different ! Firstly there were no trays available to use, and people were all wandering around aimlessly looking . Then the elderly couple in front of us had ordered 2 club sandwiches and their drinks and, after a good 5 minutes waiting to pay, were told no club sandwiches were available . They then pondered the menu for a few minutes and decided to order 2 meat and potato pies as a second choice . The totally uninterested assistant informed them that wasn't on today's menu - when the pleasant gentleman indicated to where he had seen it he was told " oh that's the weekend menu - it should have been changed !" - it's Tuesday !! No apology ! The poor old lady then browsed the very limited choice of ready made sandwiches and decided to leave it at a cup of tea ! I could almost hear her stomach rumbling under her obvious disappointment ! So I guess it was no surprise when I requested the clotted cream to go with our scones ( as clearly advertised ) to be told they didn't have any !! The final straw came when I produced my debit card to pay to be told it was cash only !! No sign to tell you this and it's very unusual for me to carry cash ! The whole experience was very disappointing for such a lovely setting and we will not visit again . The assistant was uninteresting , far from apologetic and not really very polite . I never saw even a mild suggestion of a smile !! I work with the public and have for 30 plus years and hope I never treat anyone like this .

I am no stranger to the Winter Gardens, I have been to a few conferences and shows, I was surprised by the cafe, it is a quaint walk back in time.

Traditional old time, clean, open and relaxed environment. Prices very competitive. Well worth a pop in away from the bustle of the busy blackpool high streets

This restaurant really has a nice relaxing feel to it. the decor is beautiful, following the theme of the elegance seen in the theatres and opera house in the Winter Gardens. It has a piano in the centre which wasn''t being used when we visited, though this would make it even more classy and relaxing. Though we only had a snack here, it was lovely and freshly prepared.

This is Blackpool, not a southern spar town! Usually people go to Blackpool, or used to, to enjoy themselves. We visited at lunchtime with old friends from college and found the café very quiet but the snacks were good and at very good prices, half what you would pay south of Watford anyway. We were in a good mood and enjoyed a little banter with the staff who responded well and served well. The facilities in the building are excellent, toilets very clean. The room next door had a live band playing and two of our party took the opportunity for a jive (much to the surprise of some of the others there). Much has and is changing in Blackpool but the old atmosphere is still there. Relax, enjoy. Look for fun and you will find it. May be different in the night but if you want a quick break in the middle of the day I would recommend you give the Mazzei Café a try.

What a shame. Lovely building but payed more than other more popular cafés for coffee to be put in plastic cups. After refusing to pay the waitress poured them into proper cups explaining that there was a show on - there were only 3 other customers in and the staff were standing around. Not pleasant, slow and took there time to acknowledge me in the first place.

Would recommend a visit to the winter gardens but definitely not Mazzei cafe. Staff are awful. No urgency. Waited for 2 pots of tea for 45 minutes before walking out after complaining to the manager. It was not busy, there were plenty of staff very slowly taking orders, had to queue for 15 minutes to give order. Appalling.

Right inside the newly refurbished Winter Gardens - go see them and try and get on a tour! Visited this place four times - first day at weekend it was waitress service - had green tea - rest of the week it wasn't and they didn't have green tea! Great decor and very tranquil. I don't personally think they should leave milk on the tables (sugar cubes, well fair enough). Place needs a piano :) Still its a great loacation, drinks are made to oder - one day we ordered by waitress, another at the counter and they borught them over, another at the counter and we waited for them to give us a tray. Manager was experimenting they said. I wonder what the annswer is? There is a stunning spanish bar next door, looks like a galleon.. but I digress. This place is pretty good.

Perhaps we caught them on an off-day.Perhaps they were short-staffed.You get your tea served in a plastic cup-you get soup served in a plastic cup.The toasties were truly awful. My experience was a really poor experience.

Just been to meet a friend for coffee at starbucks in the main entrance .where I was served by Matt . What an absolute delightful, helpful and extremely cheerful individual. He made a horrible wet and windy day turn into a ray of sunshine. Look forward to being served my coffee by him again ☕👌

Went to get some shopping, no staff on checkouts, I had to ask for one to be opened, after some excuses they opened one. straight away another customer joined the queue. Staff member said Kim the manager did not want customers to use checkouts to keep staff numbers low in the morning (9am). A third person joined the queue and was told checkout was closing due to management and use self checkout.

Used to go here decades ago when it was called “Winmarith”. car park was empty so didn’t bode well, however, very pleasantly surprised. Called Saturday lunch for a quick bite whilst out and about. Tried some tapas off the menu and was very tasty. The lady who served us was very nice, explained some things on the menu and was attentive, but not overly so. Will certainly pop back again for a drink and tapas.
