Nice restaurant and staff great night out with some friends for a birthday celebration

What a little gem on our doorstep. So glad we stayed local for my son's 16th birthday. The waitresses are super and the food is great. The atmosphere is chilled and we are already thinking of our next visit. Steak Tuesday's....yes please!!!

Lovely food and very good service. We had beautiful starters (halloumi salad and Feta/spinach filo), great steaks (sirloin and ribeye) and lovely dessert. Food brilliant. Service good. Price fair

Have eaten here three times recently including as a group of 10 and I have to say the food is amazing! Freshly cooked, everything homemade and truly outstanding taste and flavours. I was previously put off booking as many people had said the restaurant was cash only but it is not and does take cards.

The steak and service were amazing! We were served by Keerthi who was really lovely. She provided a great service without being overbearing. We ordered off the set menu which is really reasonably priced.

A surprising and pleasant discovery! We went there for dinner with friends on Friday night and we had a really good time. The food is excellent. The cocktails are delicious Thank you to the young waitress who gave us a perfect service all evening. THE place to go for mediterranean food in Coulsdon! We will be back soon!

Arguably the best meal I have had outside of London in a long time. I opted for the tiger prawns and rib-eye, although one of our party had the mixed platter which I was very envious of. This is the second time I've visited in the past two weeks and both times the food has been out of this world. Although this is the second time the service has been a bit sluggish. It seems that the chef is a master of their trade but is likely a one-man band as the food takes a long time to come out. If this issue is sorted, I can see this being the go to restaurant in Coulsdon.

Absolutely fantastic food had the chicken supreme for sat lunch amazingly fresh just me and Karen in at 3pm nice bottle of house red waited 30 minutes but conversation was moving nicely definitely worth waiting for ...... so fresh on flavours very good service boomshakala

What can I say the best steak I’ve ever had it was absolutely cooked to perfection and it was half price. Will definitely be going back, there were 7 of us and we all had a fantastic meal well done…..

We had a family meal with 7 adults and 3 children, everyone said the food was excellent. The steaks and lamb shank were cooked to perfection as was the seafood pasta dishes. We all had a great time. So a big thumbs up to the staff.

Just a wonderful experience! Visited, through recommendation, and was not disappointed. The moment we stepped through the door we were greeted by warm and friendly staff. Keerthi and Hanna were the perfect waitresses. Full of smiles and attentive, they made us feel very welcome. A quick Marguerite to start with led seamlessly to our mains. The mixed grill was excellent and the lamb shank to die for. The tiramisu was a perfect dessert coupled with an Irish coffee and herbal tea. The atmosphere was quietly relaxing and the staff’s attention to our needs just what was required. We cannot fault the whole experience and are delighted to have found a restaurant that we are looking forward to re-visiting very soon. Thank you for restoring our faith in eating out which can be an often disappointing experience. Value for money 10 out of 10. Quality of food 10 out of 10. Staff 12 out of 10. See you soon.

Excellent meal last night for 6 of us We had the Christmas party menu and the food was lovely with a good selection.

Friendly staff, great food, but the music was perhaps a bit loud for my grandmother. The ribeye was cooked and seasoned to perfection, and it was an excellent cut of meat. One of the best ribeyes I've had, and I've had many!

Food good but service atrocious. All those customers who arrived after us were served before. One and a half hours between starters and main. Not all orders arrived. Sauces and chips came after meat had been eaten and to top it all they had added extra courses to the bill. Two stars because the food was nice. We could not recommend this restaurant. Shame

Excellent food, very good staff who are attentive and polite. Ambiance is good and the owner is the excellent Chef . What is not to like.

Awful service. Apparently the owner/manager was away, so maybe we’d have had a better service if he’d been around to manage the 3 staff better. Had to ask to give our food order 40 mins after arriving. Starters came, mine was lukewarm. We had to ask for our starter plates to be cleared and then chase our mains (we’d now been in the restaurant for over 1.5 hrs). My friend’s main was served with a hair on the plate/in the garnish. The waitress sorted that quickly to be fair, taking the plate away and returning quickly with a new dish. We opted not to pay the service charge because of all this. When I told the waitress, she couldn’t quite compute taking the £14 (discretionary!) service charge off, so had to speak to her colleague. After about 10 mins conversation at the bar between all 3 waiting staff a different server charged down the restaurant holding the card machine and told me he couldn’t remove the service charge. I told him he could and would otherwise we’d pay nothing. Eventually they reduced it but it wasn’t with an apology, but instead a huge huff and moaning at why they’re busy etc. just an all round disappointing experience that still cost over £100.

Had a evening family dinner yesterday. Simply the food was excellent and service attentive. Steaks were fantastic and the lamb shank was excellent. Incredible set menu deal also Mon - Thurs for 2/3 courses. Will definitely be returning - encourage others to do so also!

6 friends ate and drank, fantastic food, everyone was pleased and didn't leave anything. Definitely recommend Mazu it's so good. Staff are polite, young and very helpful

The food was really excellent, we went for Tuesday steak night. The staff were very friendly and helpful. I'm afraid it just loses one ⭐ for the overbearing loud music. Others have mentioned this and while I'd be back for the food, the loud music does put me off.

Very good service, drinks came by frequently, and were priced well. Food took a while, my spaghetti was a bit too hot but still nice for what it was. Good place to go with family and friends on a weekend.

Really impressed with my not so new local Mediterranean restaurant! They were very accommodating the waiter who was by himself was an amazing job of taking orders and serving plates. My steak was beautifully cooked I have no complaints!

This restaurant is a hidden gem in Coulsdon. The food is delicious. I’ve been with various friends for different occasions and cannot fault the food or service. Would highly recommend.

We decided on Mazu for my Mum's 95th birthday lunchcsndcwere not disappointed. Walking distance from where she lives we had two bottles of a particularly good Malbec. We chose Meze to start which was a good choice. Our steak and lamb dishes were cooked to perfection and the dessert choice my Mum made came with a candle! (we hadn't said it was a birthday celebration beforehand) Great experience, looking forward to going again.

We've visited twice recently and love the variety of food..I'm vegetarian so enjoy the dishes especially the sharing meze boards...sitting outside yesterday I could have shut my eyes and been in a Mediterranean coastal resort...the chilled Rose with extra ice was perfect... My Italian partner loves their sea food dishes...there's lots to try on the menu so we will be back .. A very welcome restaurant in Coulsdon.

Had the steak and it was incredible! I made a noise as I took the first bite, that's how good it was. Cooked perfectly, so juicy and full of flavour. The staff were great and really friendly and it was all reasonably priced! Will definitely be returning!

We went to Mazu for the first time last night. Service was excellent and staff were very helpful and accommodating. The food was superb and really tasty! Not one single fault! Will definitely be back again!

We have been to Mazu on 3 occassions.The food is always very good, but the service and general ambience awful. Each time we have returned for the good food, hoping for an improvement in service. Unfortunately, the front of house "service" is terrible. We could barely hear ourselves speak over the blairing music, even the waitress couldn't hear us to take our order. Invest in a good "Maitree D" and we might be back.

I have eaten at the restaurant with my guests a number of times and also hired the restaurant for my Wife’s birthday Party. The staff are exceptional and we were very impressed with how they looked after us. The food at Mazu is 5 star. Arrian the chef is a lovely person and passionate about providing only the best fresh ingredients on his menu. Taking great care to personally select the meat and fish that grace his tables. Whether you like the Pasta dishes or a delicious steak you will not be disappointed. The food is beautifully presented and you can see and taste that great care has gone into making every dish into a mouth watering treat. If you want cocktails there is also a lovely selection you can choose from. I highly recommend Mazu for your evening out.

Lovely lunch - and great service & value. both of us had a different risotto. Delicious. I had the butternut with pine nuts & goats cheese, which was cooked to perfection & served beautifully. Just the right size portion too. Recommend you try 😀

We were excited to try Coulsdon's newest restaurant last night and were not disappointed! The service was excellent and the food was delicious. We opted to share some meze and grill dishes. All the meats were cooked beautifully and the sauces were fab. Will definitely be coming back when we get the chance!

First time at this fledgling restaurant and I will be back! An extremely varied choice of starters, mains and desserts. I had the salmon and asparagus pasta to start and the sauce was amazing. Main was a sirloin steak which was soooo tender the knife just melted through. Looking forward to my next visit.

Had a meal here tonight & the food was amazing 🤩!! Coulsdon definitely needed a restaurant like this. The staff are so lovely & will definitely be visiting again 😁😁!!!

OMG have driven past a few times and thought empty hmm... but tonight went in with my partner to give a local start up a go and had the best Seafood Platter ever. Exceptional service, great ambiance staff super friendly. Definitely going to be a regular.
