I have been going to May’s Thai Restaurant for several years because of their high quality, authentic and delicious Thai food that never fails to deliver. The staff are also always attentive and helpful. I will always recommend a visit here to anyone looking for some comforting, homemade Thai food.

Massaman and Holy Basil where average compared to other Thai’s in the city. Also quite a bit more expensive aswell. Decent portion size and the pineapple rice was amazing

Our first time eating here. Lovely little restaurant. Staff really helpful, friendly and welcoming. Food was lovely and fresh. We had calamari and chicken satay for starters, peanut sauce was lovely. Then for mains we had chicken and mixed veg with holy basil and lamb Massaman Curry with Jasmine rice to share. Portion sizes were huge. Great flavour. Lovely selection of cocktails. Will definitely be back. Definitely book as its very popular

A friend and I decided to drop by for something to eat, the tempura prawns were delicious, the chicken and prawn holy basil was so fresh and you could tell the food was prepared with love. Can’t wait to go back and try everything else on the menu. Thank you, worth every penny. Sawasdee kha 👏🏻

I have been looking for an authentic Thai place in Liverpool for ages, and I've finally found it. The menu might not be extensive, but the food is absolutely delicious! I asked for it to be chilli like they eat in Thailand, and it was, unlike other places here. We had the Tom Yam soup, chicken dumplings, Holy Basil chicken, and chicken with cashew nuts, with Jasmine rice with egg. Might be on the pricey side, but it's definitely worth it. Will definitely return to try other options.

The decor and finish of the restaurant is very nice but Sorry but this is not Thai food! Having travelled all over the far East it was very disappointing. The dishes had very little flavor, spice or authentic Thai flavours and were watery.

We visited on Saturday evening. The food was outstanding and the service was excellent. We will definitely be back.

Excellent food, especially the starters - the chicken sui mai was sublime. Great value too, and great Thai lager on tap.

Loved it. My Massuman was the best I’ve ever had. Mushroom tempura and spring rolls were superb. Great atmosphere and decor (ate upstairs). Would definitely return.

Booked a table for 7.30 27 Dec. to celebrate my birthday. Well this was not enjoyed. Starters arrived within 10 mins. Our meal turned up an hour and a half later. Husband’s meal was very bland and I had gone past wanting mine so had it boxed up. Service was total chaos. However we did feel sorry for the waiting on staff. Never again will we go to this restaurant

4 of us visited May’s Thai Kitchen for the first time last night and I can’t praise this place enough. Every dish we ordered was full of delicious thai ingredients and flavours, Leah who looked after us was absolutely amazing and Chris the owner really friendly, great little restaurant.

Fantastic Thai food. Choose how spicy you want it but be careful what you ask for 🥵 Good service and reasonable prices.

Prawn tempura was lovely but chicken pad Thai had no taste. Service good

The staff were really friendly. The place looks good and was packed. Then the food came. The spring rolls shout store bought or definitely not made fresh. The Thai fish cake was solid and heated to order. The mains were fish sweet and sour. Apparently seabass when we asked what type of fish. If it was seabass why not advertise the fact - I asked for the spicy and when it came I was presented with tasteless soggy fish. The chicken Cashew was again soggy and tasteless. The food needs to improve.

Fantastic authentic tasting Thai food

Absolutely LOVED this dining experience - the food was delicious with excellent service from the staff. I would highly recommend the red Thai Curry, however all the dishes looked amazing and can be made to your spicy needs. The owner took time to spend time to chat with his customers which is a rare and welcoming touch. A brilliant eating experience......you can't go wrong dining here......🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

What a superb night at Mays. We went with friends of ours for a meal last night. The food was delicious, the atmosphere was relaxed. The service was exceptional. Authentic Thai cooking. Chris was friendly, helpful and a marvellous host. Really recommend Mays of Childwall

Probably the best Thai in Liverpool. I have the green Thai green curry, Thai red curry and holy basil shrimp. You can choose between mild medium and spicy. Portions are good. Really simple , beautifully flavoursome and tasty. Advised to book and if you want a take away to ring up over an hour in advance as it gets very very busy. Highly recommended 🇹🇭 🍛 🍤 🦐 🌶️

The gem of Childwall! We opted for a 6pm reservation, which was perfect as we got to experience the restaurant before peak time on a Saturday evening. Upon arrival the staff were friendly and polite and seating was well spaced. Drinks: Pint of Singha Bottle of wine - One Chain 'The Googly' Starters: Chicken Dumplings Chicken Satay Veg Sring Roll Tom Yum Soup - Seafood (Prawns, Mussels and Scallops) went for hot spice👌 All the starters were great. The dumplings were similar to a sui mai, but not as heavy. The spring rolls were crisp and light 😋 Chicken Satay- great and sauce very nice! Soup - boom 💥 plenty of seafood and was hot! Mains: You definitely only need 1 main per person. The portions are plentiful and we actually took some home with us. We ordered: Stir fry crispy chicken cashew nut Phad Thai Pineapple fried rice served in pineapple with rasins & cashew nuts All very nice and fresh. The owner Chris was speaking to all the guests ensuring everyone was having a good time and had everything they needed. He explained everything is cooked fresh on site and they don't use MSG. They also sponsor Thai cooks to come over from Thailand so the dishes are truly authentic. Chris gave us the tour and the upstairs has been renovated to a fantastic standard. Notably, the upstairs ceiling has been removed displaying exposed oak beams and woodwork - creating an excellent dining space. We stayed approx an hour and a half and had a great time. Price was reflective of the experience and no complaints from us. Its essential to book as it's always busy! Highly recommended 👌

Well well well, this was an interesting one. After we sat down, people from two tables around us left without finishing up their food. That is not a good sign ! We were told that Sea bass wasn't up to the mark. That shouldn't effect us as we ordered Vegan but it got to us a bit. The Mushroom Tempuras were average, Mushroom and Celery Sauce Stir fry Curry was tasty, and our Vegan Tofu Pad Thai had egg !!! What ?? Anyway, they got us another one and that was alright. So overall, a mixed experience.

Nothing special, don't know what all the fuss is about. Had takeaway and it was disappointing, they say the 1st bite is with the eye and the presentation was terrible.... I was told when I called it would be an hour, I called back within a minute to place an order and try it out, was told half an hour. They took my number and said to save me waiting around that they'd call me. 50 minutes later, no call so I went in to what felt like nothing more than a cafe, certainly not a restaurant. Putting that aside and taking the food home, heating it up(!), it was just disappointing and the chicken with garlic and black peppercorn looked like bits of chicken in watery gravy, nothing else added at all. Fried rice was edible and satay was good, hence 2/5 not 1/5 but will NOT be going again!!!

The food is good. Unfortunately the resturant has attracted a certain client recently that is 100% male, all seem to know each other from the same Gym, with lots of fist pumps across the tables (or would appear) that have no table/phone etiquette whilst in the resturant. In the last 4 weeks the atmosphere had nose dived.

We went for dinner at the Childwall restaurant. As we live locally, we decided to give it a try. It was a very good meal, we had starters and a main course. The starters came promptly and were piping hot. The main courses were also delicious. The staff are very welcoming and friendly. The menu isn't huge but sometimes you can be overwhelmed with too much variety in some restaurants. My only criticism (nothing to do with the food or service) is that the tables are a little too close together for couples dining, but this is unavoidable with the amount of space available. All in all a very good experience and we will definitely return. Incidentally it was very, very busy. Word has obviously got around as to how good Mays restaurant is.

Three of us went on a Wednesday evening, we sat upstairs near the window. The tables are far to close together, the music was 70's disco (odd choice for a Thai restaurant). We waited over an hour and a half for our main course before frustration & hunger forced us to leave when it still hadn't arrived - despite constant apologies from the waiter. This wait had nothing to do with a new booking system I've seen mentioned on a previous review but rather the "restaurant" prioritising the take-away orders we saw stacked up as we walked down the stairs past the kitchen & from the constant stream of people coming to collect orders.

Went midweek with family. Tables so close together. No ambiance; you wouldn’t know you were in a Thai restaurant (70s music). Waited half hour for a drink, another half an hour for starters and after waiting another hour for main course we gave up and left. Felt sorry for waiters as they were really stretched and trying their best. The biggest issue seemed to be prioritisation of those coming for takeaways over those in the restaurant.

Our 1st visit was in time for 8pm booking however a table was not ready for a few minutes. As there is no seating area, we and another couple stood blocking one of the doorways. We were seated on table 11 in the corner next to the kitchen. The starter of Thai calamari was delicious. The sweet and sour seabass was soggy rather than crispy and was mainly peppers rather than the spring onion/ cucumber stated. After the main courses the manager asked us for a favour to move to table 12 to accommodate 4 arrivals on table 11 which we did. He offered a coffee liqueur which we accepted. There are no visible signs for toilets so I went up the stairs and asked. Unfortunately there was no paper in either ladies toilet which I mentioned to a member of staff on the way out. The staff work very hard and the restaurant was very busy/noisy on both floors. Friday evening was not the best for a belated birthday meal.

Really disappointed in the service here! We were the only ones in the restaurant. Went in for a bit of afternoon lunch, Told we could sit anywhere, so we chose a seat by the window. Staff came over with drinks quite quickly but then wanted to know our order after only seeing the menu for 2 min. The menu was not easy to understand and doesn't explain that you need to order your sides separately. The children's menu is only one course no drink or sides/ dessert included, we had to order our daughter a starter off the main menu which we feel defeated the object of a children's menu. Staff did not explain what they didn't have on the menu, which lead to an awkward ordering as some of our order was, "not on the menu today" We then had to ASK is there anything else not on the menu to which the staff continued to tell us of other items not on. As we were eating our lunch two Staff were stood right next to us constantly messing round with the music system to put more songs on the play list in the restaurant, having their own conversations! This was very off putting as we were trying to eat our lunch and have our own conversations as a family! The food was ok but the service really lacks attention, it was really uncomfortable trying to enjoy our lunch. Maybe more attention on your customers needs rather prioritising the playlist of the restaurant.

Amazing food, staff and service tonight 2nd week on the run! Children loved the curry and they were very welcomed by the staff. Can’t recommend it enough fabulous! Bella said it’s the best curry she has had (age 6) 3 adults 2 kids drinks starters and main meals great price !

We went to Mays for the first time today, and we were met with a warm welcome from staff. The food was amazing, and the atmosphere was fantastic. I would definitely recommend this restaurant. You won't be disappointed, and I would definitely visit again.

Booked for tonight 6/7/23 at 12.15pm today for 7pm for a table of 3. Arrived sent upstairs to be told it will be like grandamas at Christmas. Waiter got a rattan table from outside and placed at top of stairs and expected us to eat off this which was touching table of 2 next to us. Totally unacceptable. This was a special ocassion booking totally disgusted by the complete lack of service so went elsewhere. You obviously over book and cannot cope would NOT LET ME POST NO STARS SO HAVE CLICKED ON ONE . NOT WORTH THIS.

Visited last night for the first time. Cant fault this place Lamb Masaman was the best i've had and that includes in Thailand. Also wife had pad thai and again was faultless. I think one of the partners name is Steve and came over and introduced himself and made recommendations for out next visit.Good choice for kids as well. My new favourite Thai restaurant. Have already booked in for another meal.

Seriously! This is a great place to eat, drink and relax. Starters were great, as was the main and a nice size too😁 There's a mixture of ages creating a nice vibe and the staff are excellent. 10/10 👍

Having watched this place transform over many months we managed to get a table last night. I have to say it was well worth the wait. The food is exquisite, the flavours amazing. The decor is stunning. I highly recommend a visit. Book in advance as it’s very busy. So pleased it’s a great success
