Ordered a takeaway, never turned up, chased on the phone, the staff lied about sending the order to my address then lied about issuing a refund after waiting two hours for food

I went here today with my family we are a family of 4, 2 adults 2 children as I arrived at the restaurant there was not a member of staff in sight there was one family eating nobody else in restaurant it took about 6 minutes before anyone came out to see us we then sat down ordered our food and drinks Starters came out Salt and Peper chicken (so salty to much salt) Sui mais (overcooked tasted like rubber) Mix platter (was ok) Tempora vegetables ( the batter was thick and was still wet inside not cooked enough) So didn't say anything just thought don't like complaining waited 25 minutes for our main There was noone else in restaurant but delivery were going out felt like they took priority. Mains eventually came out Pineapple rice (this was nice but only had 4 thin slices of pork in it) Then we got the grill with meat and fish when we ordered this we asked the waitress what meats and fish were on it she said lamb chops chicken steak prawns scallops so as it arrived there was no lamb chops no scallops, the steak you couldn't chew it was that overcooked the ribs on it were just fat I feel totally ripped of this is so sad because it could be a really nice restaurant as the decor it beautiful won't be back again if I want a thai I'll be going to chaba chaba

Very disappointed with their member of staff,she had attitude issues the second we entered. she ruined the night for all of us by snarling our table.(Indian girl, Very skinny and tiny height) she was constantly looking in the mirror at herself 😭🤮.she not even attractive,with all that makeup hiding her real skincare. service was okay and meals.

Ordered a takeaway said it would be delivered in 1 hr 15 mins, food took nearly 3 hours , 3 phone calls to the restaurant who kept telling me it was on its way, it was stone cold when it arrived 3 hours later and the king prawn dish I ordered that cost £19 had 3 medium sized prawns in

Spicy Udon Noodles!!!! FANTASTIC My usual but I take red chillis out which leaves the noodles with perfect heat. Lips on fire but not too hot. We used Uber to order and it came in 55 mins. Happy to wait as we know its good!

We are visiting family in Liverpool this weekend, and they took us to Lemongrass for dinner. The food was absolutely fantastic. Top quality, fresh, and fantastic taste. I am not Thai, so cannot comment on how authentic the food is, but it is certainly better than any Thai I food I have had in London or elsewhere in the UK. We will be coming back here again every time we visit Liverpool.

New favorite Thai restaurant! We ordered pineapple duck fried rice recommended by the waiter. It was heavenly and rich, even came in an actual pineapple as the bowl. Mixed seafood dish was also fresh and delicious, had the biggest scallop, king prawns, mussels, calamari etc in flavored sauce with fresh leaves, went down well with sticky rice. Service was excellent, attentive staff, came to £48 for two adults including a beer and 10% service charge. Great quality food, highly recommended, probably the best restaurant in Smithdown road.

Prices have recently gone up significantly as of July 2024 making it way too expensive for what you get and compared to other similar places locally. Servers can be a bit rude and add automatic 10% tip to your bill. Food varies with each visit.

Seems to be a trend with the review for this place - the takeaway food is really subpar. The food was bland and pretty expensive for what it was. Ordered tofu khao pad Thai and was just given a box of tofu, rice and veg - basically no flavour at all. £8.95 for four spring rolls is extortionate. Very disappointed all in all and wouldn't order from here again. A shame - it seems a lot nicer in person.

I don’t know why this restaurant doesn’t have all 5 star reviews. Tonight was easily the best food I’ve ever had, and huge value for money the portions are big… So be warned! We had pepper beef, lemon grass Sui mai and ribs to start (I know we are pigs) then a curry each with a side of rice and salt and pepper chips. Needless to say we couldn’t finish it and have packed up our tea for tomorrow night. The food was beautifuly presented too, it must cost them a lot of money on ingredients as they are really high quality. We will be back! This is our new favourite place 😋

Food was absolutely delicious. Really fresh. Good portions. Service was nice when they came over it was just a bit difficult to get their attention for another drink etc. Atmosphere was nice but we were seated right in the middle of 2 couples. Seats were too close and it felt like we could all hear each others conversations. No music was playing so it felt a little awkward. I'd understand if it was busy but it was quite empty. All in all I'd go back again as the food was so nice and the staff were so nice when they came to us. I'd just maybe choose where I'd like to sit if possible.

We order takeaway from the restaurant very regularly. The food is utterly delicious and generous. Great choices especially for vege options. Unfortunately for the second time, I found chicken in my vegetarian tofu noodles. The first time a while back, there was a full portion of chicken so I noticed quickly and had the meal swapped. Although the chef didn't believe me so we had to fish it out of the bin and send it back with the driver. This time I've eaten the full meal and then found 2 big peices of chicken at the bottom. I accidentally ate a bit of it and obviously the whole dish has been cooked with it. I've phoned to complain and received an apology. I do not want a free meal/refund etc. I just want the chefs to be more careful. I'm upset that after 25 years I've just eaten chicken. But if this had been an allergy or intolerance it could be very serious. I would like to continue enjoying the lovely food here as long as they are more careful. Would have been full stars if not for this.

Lovely food and staff. Only problem was that it took almost 2 hours to get our mains out. Yes it was mothers day but we dined early when the restaurant was relatively empty. Thai green curry was to die for! Took the leftovers home and enjoyed it all over again the next day 😋

Couldn't fault the service, really friendly. The food was lovely, we went for satay chicken and sui mai for starters followed by chicken pad Thai and chicken cashew. Would have like the chicken cashew to be a little more spicy, however food was tasty overall

This place is incredible (so much so I’m making the effort to leave a review). Second takeaway and both have been fab. Food quality is superb: so fresh and flavoursome (rice super light too). Would highly recommend the ‘Lemon Grass Surprise’. Can’t wait to visit in person!

The food is second to none. Had the special Sui Mai to start which blew my mind, and the pineapple rice was spectacular. Staff were also lovely to a fault. The best Thai food outside (and possibly inside) Thailand itself. Went again in February 2024 and if anything the food has got even better! The special Sui Mai is genuinely unbelievable and I had the Pad Med Mamuang with crispy pork belly for mains- Holy Christ, it was something else entirely. I could have wept with joy. Staff once again were so friendly and helpful. Officially my favourite place to eat in Liverpool. Please just go!

Started off well, starters and cocktails where lovely. Got my main meal, and it went down hill. I had the pad krapaou, and it was inedible. It must have had about 20 birds eye chillies in it. I like spice, but this was ridiculous. It also didn't specify it was ground beef, when ever I go to Thailand, its always sliced beef. For the first time in my life, I had to send a meal back. And had to wait 25 minutes for a fresh one to come out, by which time my wife had already finished hers. When it arrived, I was very underwhelmed. Nothing like the authentic dish. Nothing was offered to rectify this, and was charged still full price at the end plus a 10% service charge which definitely wasn't earned. Bill came to 80 quid. I'm proper gutted as this was a birthday meal, and I love thai food. Wont be returning

Delicious freshly made fabulous thai food served by delightful staff. Great for vegetarians and vegans. Sunni our waitress was very helpful talking us through the menus and making recommendations .We are vegan and vegetarian there was plenty of choice. Everything was 100 % nothing was too much trouble. Portions were really big so ended up taking some home . lots of free parking outside . Lovely atmosphere great place for a family gathering we will be back . Been to all of the thai restaurants on allerton Rd and this is the best and all of them are very good

Mixed opinions on this. 2 out of 3 of the group enjoyed their food. one not so much

An utter disgrace. £15 for 3 plain small prawns and few bits of undercooked brocoli. £15.95 for 3 ribs. The special fried rice states that it's cooked with Mixed Veg, Mixed Seafood and topped with Roast Duck and Crispy pork for £15.95. Be warned. It isn't. If you want any of that you have to pay extra to add it on. If you were to add on that to make it up it would cost £26.95. For fried rice. £18.95 for a pathetic combo starter which had some random bone in the box too. A £60 takeaway that barely fed two adults. Extortionate prices. Avoid. So in response to the owners. This was fried rice not white rice. The ribs were wrapped in banana leaf which i removed for the photo to show the quantity. Do you also belive the prawns and combo starter arent from your restaurant too or just those two dishes? Trying to blame Uber for delivering from wrong restaurant is embarrassing. I called the restaurant directly at the time and discussed the issue. They were apologetic to be fair and sent more ribs after a heated discussion and said i could claim a full refund from uber. However, uber will not grant a refund based on this. Further response to the owner: I can absolutely guarantee this is your food. I have the receipt to prove it and I called yourselves at the time and you sent some replacement food. Are you suggesting the Uber driver got that from a different restaurant too? Utterly embarrassing that you continue to deny this is even your food and blame the delivery driver.

Waited 2 hours for our meals, and then it was a little chaotic when they brought the meals to the table. Additionally my meal arrived once other members of our party had finished theirs. The food was really nice, just a shame about the service.

Ordered a take away from Lemongrass tonight and both myself and my partner were extremely disappointed. There is nothing authentic about the food. The Thai rice I ordered was grey, greasy with no colour (veges) or texture. Chipshop quality for a restaurant price. Partner had Thai red curry which was clearly just flavoured with what tasted like shop bought paste. To top it off - we got about 8 prawn crackers for £3.50 and the vegetable spring rolls were raw and doughy. Wouldn’t recommend and would not return.

The lamb curry was too nutty. The service was top tier and the atmosphere was buffery music, loud poppers.

Beautiful interior, superior hygiene and quality service. Theee best Sui mai in the universe-all made on site. I just knew it as soon as I bit into them, the texture and taste was exceptional and lovely dipping sauce. We like spicy and you can easily take the three chilli rating if you’d like heat.

-Sticky mango rice is delicious. I give this five stars and highly recommend. -Tomyam mixed seafood fried rice is too salty. -The Mixed Platter was £18.95 and I felt there was less variety or quantity of dishes than in other restaurants 🤔

So the reason for this review is because I noticed that many negative reviews on here were regarding take aways. We have been here many many times, but only for sit in food. So tonight, we bit the bullet and ordered a plethora of different dishes, this didn’t disappoint. The food was absolutely exquisite and my cousin over from Australia described it as ‘insanely flavoursome’ We had some larb salad, essentially minced chicken salad; sounds mingin but trust me, it was to die for . The duck spring rolls were also delicious, as was the masaman curry. My sis who is a vegan had tofu satay and green beans in a soy/chilli sauce, again so delicious 👅 So I can categorically say, the take away menu is just as good as the sit in. And to the balloon heads that reviewed insisting they found hair in their food, it’s fibre from the banana leaves 😂 Thank you Lemon Grass, you are an absolute gem and I feel so lucky to have you practically on my doorstep 🥰

Best Thai we’ve ever had! The food was really lovely, and the restaurant itself was a pleasure to sit in. The staff were very polite, friendly and attentive too. If we weren’t here just visiting we’d eat at the Lemongrass again in a heartbeat. Very highly recommended! A*****

Food was ok but more veg and not much meat etc . Watch for over pricing . Put on 10% service charge and waitress still asked if we wanted change . Er yes we did . Will not go back

Food was lovely but service was not, the waitress seemed as if she couldn’t be bothered, not friendly, no smiles, nothing welcoming, she kept removing finished plates when people were still eating, which is a pet peeve of mine, I think it’s rude, we felt as if we were being rushed, I ordered the jumbo king prawns they were £15 and it does state there is no side dish which is fine, but when it arrived there was three prawns, two pieces of broccoli and a little bit of courgette and some salad, I think £15 for three prawns is disgusting I’ve been to other places and got more prawns, same size, on a starter dish for less the price

Been a few times but tonight was awful, messed up the order, still added service charge and although they apologised i've come away from my birthday meal frustrated and disappointed.

Had such a wonderful sunday dinner! First time but definitely not the last. Tom Yum soup soooo good! Also salt&peper calamari realy nice. Had seafood pad thai and pineapple friend rice with chicken was definitely really nice!

Have been several times and ordered delivery multiple and after visiting I have to say the service standard has dropped tremendously since the first in-restaurant visits. The new staff are not attentive and seem like they don’t know what they are doing. The spring rolls came out super tough and there were a few slimy uncooked prawn crackers on our portion. Curry’s were great but I hope they turn things around with the service as it’s a great place with good food usually.

We ordered a takeaway from here tonight, and whilst I've eaten in and had very pleasant food I was left very disappointed tonight. One of the main meals was left out of the delivery, to be fair they made us a new one without argument which was ready to collect in about 10 minutes but when we did collect it, it was pretty soggy, the portion was stingy and nowhere near up to eat in standard. Sadly I've been left feeling let down and reluctant to come again.

4 of us visited for my son's birthday. The food was absolutely divine and we even took what we couldn't finish home. The restaurant was clean, staff were friendly and attentive, even asking how long we wished to wait between courses. Very positive experience and we will definitely return 😍

Great Thai Food! It was my first time visiting Lemongrass Thai Restaurant as it was recommended by a friend. Thai food in the Liverpool city centre isn’t great so I went out of my way to try out Lemongrass. Lemongrass has a lovely interior design and feels very welcoming, it looks quite fancy but any attire is welcome as far as I’m aware. There is plenty of seating available with a variety of table spaces ranging from two persons to eight or more. The staff are friendly and accommodating although the service was a bit slow for my friend’s Mango Sticky Rice but I assume it was made very fresh which is good. There is also a service charge added on to the final total of the bill. I ordered the ‘Thai Green Curry with Chicken’ which costs £12.95 as an individual dish, rice is sold separately. Therefore, I ordered a portion of ‘coconut rice’ which costs £3.50 for a small bowl, not enough for one person in my opinion because there is more curry than there is rice. The green curry tasted great and it was spicy but not overwhelmingly spicy. I thoroughly enjoyed the green curry! I also ordered the Chicken Pad Thai which costs £11.95, it arrives with crushed nuts as a choice of topping if desired. The Pad Thai tasted great too, it arrived enveloped in a thin layer of fried egg. For dessert I ordered the Chocolate Marquise which costs £6. The chocolate marquise arrived very quickly and didn’t taste very fresh which suggests it was probably frozen and perhaps not handmade by the restaurant? Unfortunately, I didn’t enjoy the dessert and would not recommend it. Overall, the main dishes are really tasty and flavourful but I didn’t enjoy the Chocolate Marquise, maybe I’ll try a different dessert if I visit again in the future. I would recommend eating here if you want nice Thai food and a nice atmosphere but the desserts are probably a miss.

Ordered from uber eats as takeaway and the food was really nice and lots of flavour, lots of vegetarian options.but my partner ordered a special lemon fried rice and did find a very dark ginger hair in his food which was abit off putting.

Really delicious food the starter of duck spring rolls was unbelievable One of our party went to the bathroom and said that they were very clean always a good sign Food was unbelievable some of our party had not been to a Thai restaurant before and were well impressed the food was scorching hot and there was you were given time to digest your starter before the next course from the well mannered helpful staff We will be back

We ordered a take away for a family gathering and asked for takeaway delivery after 6. Some of our family do not like spicy food and we deliberately ordered some dishes that were not described as spicy ( e.g long green beans in soya sauce). We than had a phone call saying deliveries stated at 5.00 and we repeated that we wanted food after 6 ( we know some of our family could not come until six because of work). The food arrived at 5.35 before some of our family had arrived so we had to keep it hot. The dishes which we had ordered that we assumed would not be hot were far too hot (spicy) to be eaten, particularly the Special Fried rice and green beans.

We have visited this place at least 10 times now and have always left feeling happy and replete. The food is delicious and the staff cannot do enough to make your experience memorable. The big test was arranging a family get together here with 14 members of our family and lemongrass did not disappoint: everything was brought out on time, presented beautifully and every whim of ours was catered for. I usually can’t bear dining in a large group but this was one of the best ‘family on mass’ experiences ever! Within our family group, our cousins were over from Australia and concluded that this was the best Thai restaurant they had ever visited (and there’s lots of them in Oz!) My favourite dishes are the chicken satay starter, the Thai fishcakes , crispy pepper chicken, masaman curry and the pineapple rice is truly a work of art 🤩 my husband swears by the special lemongrass ribs and special Sui Mai and the jasmine rice. I also love the Thai red curry and request a wee bowl of extra chilies as I love spicy! I have recently started a keto diet and although I can’t eat the pineapple rice , there are lots of high protein, low carb choices on the menu. I am very happy with this restaurant and feel very privileged to have it practically on my doorstep. I would heartily recommend 🥰

What a meal we had this evening at Lemongrass!!! Amazing and must say the best Thai Food experience we ever had… Must Try place beautiful ambiance too. It’s a Must try places!!!! We will surely be visiting soon…

Clearing plates before finished the course, the price at the end was different to the advertised prices (before the gratuity), felt rushed even though it was early on.

Very beautiful restaurant, customer service was really good and the food was delicious! Loved the beef and the chicken, rice was full of flavour (we got the coconut rice). Would recommend for a night out! 😊

We ordered take away and collected. This followed a positive experience visiting the restaurant. We entered and duly given a nicely packed bag… and went home! On unpacking, it was obvious half the order was missing. We rang up and it took some persuasion from me there WAS an issue… requesting us to read out what we had etc! This is not easy when you have guests! After several minutes they identified another bag… meaning we had to return to the restaurant a second time to collect the food we’d paid for… in the meantime everything was going cold! Whilst I understand mistakes happen, I did not appreciate having to argue my case! I found this very poor customer service. The food was great, hence 3 star… but having to argue I was right about the missing food turned an irritating mistake (which I can live with) into a very negative experience! If you’re reading Lemongrass, please address your customer service!! I want to support local restaurants… I didn’t ask for money back/free stuff! A quick admission of wrongdoing on your part would have resolved this!

Excellent food, great service, friendly staff

We went for dinner on Christmas Eve, having had takeaway and been before, I was so disappointed with the experience on this occasion. My partner is vegetarian so we ordered the vegetarian sharing platter to start, when it came to him ordering his main course, it became apparent that virtually none of the main courses are vegetarian as they contain shrimp paste, with only a couple of options now available, he ordered a tofu stir fry. The sharing platter arrived, my partner took a bite of one item only to find out that it was a prawn and the platter was not the veg option but the classic meat one. So we sent it back and waited for the correct one. After a long wait it arrived and I can only describe it as some almost raw and flavourless vegetables covered in a greasy tasteless batter, it was so unpleasant that we didn’t eat much of it. Main courses arrived, I’d ordered a chicken pad Thai with extra prawns. When it arrived I soon noticed there wasn’t a single prawn and it was beef, not chicken, it also smelled and tasted very greasy and totally put me off eating anything else. The tofu stir fry was ok, but bland. Had it not been for the bowl of prawn crackers I had, I wouldn’t have eaten anything. They did remove most of the food from the bill so I can’t complain about that. I just feel they really need to step up their vegetarian options. I was baffled how they got our orders so wrong. So disappointed

Ordered takeaway and it came 35 minutes early so we weren't ready for it. Got on the phone and they recooked it and had it delivered it within 30 mins on a Friday. Very nice meal and thanks for sorting out the initial problem - much appreciated. Would order again.

Typical "Thai" restaurant, on the corner of "Russell Road & Smithdown Road" - parking outside was easy, easy access for disabled, venue is nice, food is very good and service is excellent!!! It was not very busy when we were there on a friday evening, so, not alot more to say really, apart from, would we go again??? - "Yes"!!! "Recommended"!!

Absolutely incredible, my new favourite Thai restaurant outside of Thailand.....where I really need to go back to soon, y'know, to calibrate the senses. 🙂 We went all veggie, sweet and sour and a massaman curry, spring rolls and incredible sweetcorn fritters for starters. All amazing. 👌

The only tip I would say for takeaway is that the delivery service can take quite a while, but the restaurant have online ordering which is much quicker to collect (plus I’m sure there’s a discount for collecting). We went to dine in on Saturday night and the food was even better than what we’ve had for take out. The staff are absolutely lovely too.

The food in this place was lovely but I placed an order arrived to collect, gave my name and waited 20-30mins before being there was a system issue and my order was not accepted. They then told me that they would also not honour my order because they were busy. All in all waited an hour and a half only to have to place an order else where. I messaged them via social media (privately) to complain and I am yet to receive a response. Please note this was on Xmas eve so placing an order at half 7 else where was far from ideal. Meant to leave a review previously but have just avoided the place. Customer service is shocking if this is how you handle system issues and complaints (check your Instagram you will find my complaint)

Can't put into words how bad the food was. Just unbelievably bad.

A very unwelcoming & rude reception @ lemongrass, I called at 8.40 to check if restaurant could accommodate a table for 4, after having spoken to a staff who confirmed this was ok. When arrived 10 mins later we got dirty looks by angry staff with bright hair. Were told by another staff to order all our food at once even though the kitchen were not closing for a while. We were also given our bill and were prompted to make payment immediately as we were about to tuck in to our food. Extremely poor service. Safe to stay we won’t be returning.

Disgusting service extremely slow service unkind people

Ordered a massive take away for a bunch of friends and it was the highlight of the night. Every starter and main meal was perfect, everyone absolutely loved every dish. Top quality food and great service too, had a 25 meal takeaway prepared ready spot on time, fantastic! Will be coming again, best Thai food in liverpool Peter 👍

I recently went here with my family and we all would definitely come back! The staff were all super friendly and the food was delicious (i recommend the vegetable massaman curry)!!
