Mayflower in Weymouth and Portland

I ordered in the shop, they were extremely busy but very friendly and they had my food ready ASAP. I ordered a king prawn chow mein which was lovely and tasty with lots of prawns. Great food will definitely be back.

Ordered a takeaway and every dish was just filled with cheap vegetables. I even ordered chicken with bamboo shoots and water chestnuts absolutely no bamboo shoots but a mass of onions. Dont waste your money! Just go out and buy a large onion and a bag of carrots at a cost of less than a pound as that’s what I got for my £31.00

Used to use this over last 7 yts as near and has been variable but always edible until last weekend. Chicken Curry esp the sauce was some awful orangey colour mix. Noodles awful and beef in black bean sauce tough as boots awful . Chips greasy. Egg fried rice also not very nice. Such a disappointment . Going up to China town london soon miss it so much

So disappointed! Rice taste weird, chicken balls were like rubber, got wrong spring rolls, fortune cookies were stale, chow mein was ok but needed salt and pepper, won’t be ordering again

We were touring nearby and arrived late so went for Chinese takeout, all sauce, hardly any meat in the dishes, not what we are use to, my friend counted 4 prawns in her dish, we won’t be back

Super quick service by lovely staff, food took 5 mins max, really tasty authentic curry and sides, not too greasy or oily. Super clean and food was piping hot. Not too expensive

Originally I was a very loyal customer to the Ming Wah Restaurant only to go in recently to find out that Tang and Queenie had retired. Food and atmosphere in there has entirely changed and it was missing its Ming Wah’s touch I remembered, gladly I had found out that they’re still around and here they’re, bringing the same quality food and atmosphere they had to offer!

Worst chinese I've had, we normally use another but due to an accident on the beach road we decided to order so we could walk up and get it. It was very over priced for what we received and struggled to make the food go round 5 of us. Normally we have food left over from our normal chinese. It didn't taste very nice and was dry very disappointed, definitely will not be ordering from here again.

Absolutely the best takeout Chinese in Weymouth. The fried rice is excellent, and the Szechwan prawn dish had seaweed in it and a nice spicy kick. I will totally be coming back - often!!!

Ordered this evening for me and my partner. No problems with her meal but my lemon chicken was sent as a plain portion of dry chicken. Phoned and they said my meal would be resent and when it arrived 20 minutes later all I got was a pot of cold lemon sauce. Called back again and was told this is how they serve it and it was my problem. You asked my partner if she would like to refund the meal or if she would like it resent there was no mention of just sending lemon sauce. If that was the case we would have had a refund.why would we want cold chicken?

We had set menu P and it was all super. Ribs, foo yong, beef, chicken, spring rolls, rice. Delivered in good time Way better than the fish and chips from last night!!

I ordered a takeaway to be delivered to chesi vista caravan park a minute down the road Thursday evening 23rd May 2024 it wasn't cheap I had sweet and sour king prawn balls and sweet and sour chicken Hong Kong and chips style it's the worst Chinese I have ever had it was unedible the prawn balls were burnt and so were the prawns in the batter the batter was disgusting the veg and sauce in the chicken was tasteless and undercooked and the chips were vile hard and stale I couldn't take it back as I had had a drink and couldn't drive I went into to see them tonight 24th Friday and they weren't a bit helpful or apologetic the place looked not inviting there customer service was disgusting and the chef didn't look very experienced as he tried to intervene

We were staying at the Martleaves camp site. We ordered the food online and it arrived in 45 minutes. Delivery driver was very good and food was super tasty.

On holiday near park really lovely pork curry spicy barbecue ribs meat pancake rolls fried rice enough for two wish we had local Chinese like this will use again

Dry inedible chips Overcooked & chewy chicken Watery sauces So disappointing

I bought a takeaway last night consisting of Chicken Fried Rice, Sweet and Sour Chicken, Lemon Chicken and BBQ Ribs. The Sweet and Sour Chicken batter was so thick it was chewy and the sauce wasn't included. The Lemon Chicken was so salty that I couldn't eat it. The ribs were full of chewy bits. The Chicken Fried Rice was actually the only thing I could eat. I will not be returning which is a shame as I only live round the corner

No Chinese folks anywhere ! Food quality has nosedived incredibly ! Authentic Chinese is no longer there. Indian guy on the counter/manager ,and when questioned , professes to speak Mandarin which is laughable and the people cooking didn't have a Chinese bone in their body. Unfortunately our country has been taken over.

So vvv busy Friday night. Was told 15 minutes to collect but was more 35 mins due to online orders. Food good and chap apologetic despite being optimistic.

Food is okay here. I’m writing this due to my concerns of the staff that work here. Please think twice on going here if you are a young woman. I have experienced and witnessed something that was rather disturbing. Stay safe.

Can’t rate the food as it still hasn’t arrived. First time using this place … ordered for 5:30 delivery phoned them at 6:15 only to be told it’s another 20 mins! Sounds like they’ve not bothered with my order until I phoned! Really disappointed plus it’s certainly not the cheapest place! £40 and still waiting! Update … food arrived nearly 7pm … no apology … sadly it was not very good, the curry sauce had split and was like watery gravy, the tubs were half filled???? The rice was soggy and everything stale . Really sad as everyone said how good it was so we thought we’d give it a go.

We ordered a pickup order through the phone the other night, and the customer service was amazing! When we arrived the guy at the front desk was chatty, apologising for the slight delay, but we didn’t end up waiting for long. Food was delicious! Especially the Singapore Vermicelli! Definitely will recommend to a friend.

Staying nearby here for a few days (Aug 23), as strict vegetarians we found this place great. Visited twice in the short time we had in the neighbourhood. Lovely tofu dishes. Will definitely be returning and would recommend it. Brilliant.

Not the greatest chinese we've had, sweet and sour soggy balls with egg fried rice for me, okay but not the best, for my wife, special fried rice with barbecue sauce and stale prawn crackers. Came here of the back of a recommendation, certainly won't be passing that recommendation on to anyone else.

absolutely appalling always had great service from here but this time was a different story we waited 30 minutes after there closing time (10 o’clock) and we still hadn’t received our food. we had already paid and received nothing.

We had king prawn curry, king prawn satay and king prawn in black bean sauce with rices. Excellent quality, very tasty and a nice amount of spice, I asked for extra chilli which was excellent. Best Chinese I’ve had for a long time

We have used this restaurant for a number of years. It is our local Chinese. I love the king prawn curry and the king prawn fried rice. If you want extra tasty/spicy you just need to ask and they will accomodate you

The first order I made with this establishment a few weeks ago was very disappointing. My chicken with bamboo shoots and water chestnuts came without them. I thought maybe it was just a glitch and I'd give them another chance. Well, I found my missing ingredients, in the special fried rice!! Really sorry but I don't like your food, the sauces were runny and insipid, and not a good experience. My wife gave up after two mouthfuls, so once again the food went in the bin. Two chances, both failures, I'll be going elsewhere I'm afraid.

Best Chinese for years - 24 April 2021 - ordered a large variety of meals -For 5 of us - including one vegetarian - we were all delighted with every single dish which included Pork in black bean sauce with peppers; sweet and sour cantonese; fried mozerreli ; . Their fried rice was also outstanding - light and savoury . All dishes were large . so plenty for everybody. Delivered efficiently to the entrance of our holiday caravan at Liitlesea

Away in Weymouth ,Dorset - Monday to Friday, First night there decided on a Chinese take out for super - Found a fairly local place that delivered - Ordered NO issues - Big group of us - so large ish order , Order placed just after 5pm - to cut a very long story short - 2 hours later and after being Updated (lied to twice ) Still no sign of said take away - that had supposedly left for delivery twice at 6.15 and 6.30 - at 7pm third update and they didnt know where the driver or take away was . Cancelled order - horrendous - avoid .

I’m an elderly lady who really enjoys nice Chinese food. Although I live on Portland and usually have very good food from the Chiswell Chinese or the Chapelhay Chinese,I thought I’d give the Mayflower a go. First bite of chicken, strange, stringy, chewy texture, somewhat like raw fish. Spat it straight out, bit into 2 more- the same, really disgusting! I Called immediately to complain, girl offered me discount on next visit. Next visit!? Very unlikely so I requested a refund. I was told No! I’d had a glass of wine so couldn’t drive back about 5 miles that evening. Called on opening at 5 next day. Different girl, told if I had returned it yesterday I would have got refund. Girl (1) didn’t offer this information. I mentioned going to food standards agency and writing on FB etc, negative response. I was so annoyed that I drove back immediately with all dishes. I was met with hostility. The owner and another still argued the toss over a lengthy time, around 10 minutes, This was all in front of 5 staff ( no customers) !! Grudgingly gave me £5.40 of the £15.40 I had spent. Awful customer service,Disgusting food! All round bad experience. Avoid this place.

A charming place, delicious home made food that is well priced and service is great. Well worth trying. Parking can be tricky, a small car park shared between a couple of takeaway restaurants that gets super busy.

I don't often leave poor reviews but the food we had from the Mayflower was dreadful. The battered squid was a soggy salty mess and the ribs were really old and chewy. The rice was fine but that was it. None of the staff were wearing masks either, even in the kitchen. Just avoid!

I use this takeaway often always a good meal, how ever last night was very disappointing . Ordered quarter of duck couldn't even make 2 pancakes, chicken satay very dry .the whole meal looked like it had been hanging around for a while.

Me and my family use this takeaway quite often, never had a bad meal, always hot tasty, but tonight I am very unhappy, I rang to place my order girl on phone rude abrupt, when I arrived to collect my food I found no one on the counter, and to round it off I witnessed the girls hair down over customers food messing around if that’s what u call it over fryer/cooker, I’m sorry I have to write this when I got my food girl was rude, as I was leaving the shop I saw the girl go back in kitchen, messing around with the chef if you know what I mean by this, I got home dished my food up and over my chicken balls blonde hair, in my sauce blonde hair, I am disgusted with this I will not be going back and I will be calling the environmental health, or who ever to report this

They make one of the best Singapore Chow Meins available in my opinion - this has been my meal of choice for several years! Their other dishes are also great and they provide really good value for money.

Sorry to say that this was the worst Chinese meal and service experience we have ever received. Telephone abrupt, they did not take our name or telephone number. Then they did not turn up and we had to ring them. When the meal eventually arrived the rice was all dried up as was the duck. Put us off Chinese food for a while.

Brilliant Chinese, 100% better than the one in my home area. House special chow mien absolutely amazing.

Regularly visit my parents in Weymouth and always take the opportunity of having a Chinese takeaway from Mayflower with friends (even my 83 year old mum loves the Chicken Fried Rice from here not having had it before). Food is always well cooked and hot - very tasty and good price. Only drawback is it is cash only - need to get a card machine installed.

Very enjoyable food one of the better Chinese takeaways I have used. Would recommend highly.

used this place twice the first time they took over 2 hours to deliver the food and when I finally did turn up its was cold second time I ordered I was told hour and half for delivery so ended up collection from the shop only to get home to find only half of what I ordered, when I phoned to inform them I was shocked at the way I was spoken to and eventually they agreed to send me what was missing but 2 hours later and it still never turned up and they didn't give me my money back. will NEVER get from there again!!

Picked up a takeaway for 7 on Xmas eve. Cooked fresh and was lovely. Receptionist staff very friendly especially as they had to put up with my father and father in law serenading them!

Been going here and recommending it for over 3 years. However over the last few months it seems to have gone downhill with food arriving either wrong or cold. Last night our food was inedible as it was overly salty and cold. I would go as far to say it was disgusting (and I'm not a fussy eater!). I called to complain which is something I rarely do. The young lady on the phone was very polite and apologetic and said she would let the chef know. That's all well and good but it didn't help us. No meal last night and £30 poorer for it. The offer of a refund, or even return to check the food out was not offered. Very disappointed with what used to be my favourite Chinese food. I will never eat from here again and will not recommend. Poor customer service!!

Fab food....really good, tasty and fresh, but I have had the wrong order at least twice....the last time I went back to pick up the missing item, this time I confirmed that the order was correct by getting it read back to me and asked for delivery....then when we realised I called up to ask for a missing item...when it was delivered to me I was charged for the missing item (which had not been added to the bill) and a DELIVERY CHARGE!!!...even though it was the restaurant's mistake, which they admitted....I advise checking your order before you pay for it...then 5 stars... as I said, the food is delicious.

We had two meals from the takeaway while we were on holiday. Service was quick and they delivered to our caravan. Food was hot and nice size portions,loved the curry sauce.

ordered a takeaway from here for a change as menu had some different dishes. ordered dumplings from the menu to be told they don't do dumplings!? followed by discussions their end to end up realising that yes they do do dumplings. Singapore chow mein was incredibly salty, couldn't eat it. beef sambal was ok but banana fritters were small portion compared to other takeaways. delivery was £15 and over yet still charged £1.50 where a lot of other Chinese takeaways are free for a smaller limit. over all charge more than other Chinese takeaways but food inferior. would not use again. ever.

Takeaway for the family ofCurries and duck. No pancakes in the bag plus the whole meal was tasteless and looked pretty poor - I've never seen egg fried rice so dark!! A meal which should have had no onions had some in. Will not be returning. Oh for a decent Chinese takeaway in the area.

This is a great chinese. Fresh ingredients and a variety of dishes, always to the same high standard. I suspect that some of the negative reviews on here may have been left by threatened competitors!

I have literally eaten from here dozens of times and have even picked up meals on the way home from work to take 30 miles home as it's the best take away I've ever found. There are some Malaysian dishes on the menu and i can definately recommend the beef rendang.I have been eating from here for many years from the day they opened and the food taste and quality never varies.

We had used this chinese for some time now...no longer though as the small portions were very bland and it wasn't cheap. You're better off with a takeaway bag from asda !!!!

Have used this Chinese on several occasions and always been happy with the variety of meals we've had. Much better than other options in Weymouth. Only thing preventing me from giving it 5 stars is that it's cash only - time to invest in a card machine!

If u r a die hard vegetarian this is not the place to eat. They cook veg meals in same as pork ones and a friend had pork in veg meal. When asked about this was told not a vegetarian restaurant. Hmmm not answer vegetarians wld look for. Lovely food for others but if vegi I wld steer clear

Ordered a vegetable chow mein marked as suitable for vegetarians. Found loads of fatty pork in it. Refused a refund! Told all food is cooked together. So if your vegetarian or Muslim avoid this place! Disgusting!

Very fast service and 2 excellent meals. We are staying at Chesil Vista and asked for recommendations, the first was one in town opposite Tides Inn pub. That meal was very disappointing. Popped into the Mayflower and ordered Sweet & Sour Chicken Cantonese and it was as good as anywhere, the Chicken Chow Mein was also lovely. Well done the Mayflower - highly recommended.

Very close to the Rex hotel. This restaurant has wonderful food at a reasonable price. We particularly enjoyed the crispy mongolian lamb pancakes for a starter.

Ordered chips, chow mein And curry sauce. After putting half the chips in my chow mein withy the curry sauce I noticed dead flies stuck to the chips. Rang back, the person had to consult the manager about a refund. I was told I could have a free portion of chips.... Even though my whole meal was ruined which I wasn't happy with. To which then the owner rings me offering a whole meal replacement if I go back to the shop. Never again, bad service & bad food. Owners clearly do t care about returning business & bad word of mouth which they have already!

I have never had a bad takeaway from here, It is the only one I use. Can't fault it. They have a wide variety of dishes to choose from with veggie options too plus free prawn crackers with orders over £15. Open kitchen so you can watch your food being cooked, if that is your thing.

The title says it all really, a great selection cooked in there open kitchen! A very prompt service when phoning an order through, equally a speedy service on walk-ins. Spend over a certain amount and have been given prawn crackers more often than not. :)
