Poor food, over priced, and empty at 2000, on Friday Car park messy, will not visit again stay away, go to taj mahal.

Probably the best food in Portsmouth/ Southsea currently.

I’ve been here a few times and it’s consistently very good. Yesterday we visited again and it was outstanding. The food was beautifully presented and tasted amazing. But the whole night was simply wonderful due to the welcoming and attentive staff. Thank you for making our night so enjoyable!

First time dining here and would definitely recommend. The waiters were so attentive, polite and friendly. The food was delicious and plentyful.

Omg. Simply amazing. The taste is good. More than everything I loved the staff. They are so lovely and caring. They make you feel posh. I also liked the ambience. Has a lot of parking space. Good for team lunch.

From the moment we walked in the team were super accommodating, you can tell a huge emphasis is placed not just on the food but also the service provided. 10/10 couldn’t fault either! The food was super tasty and affordable.

Visited for the first time with family and had a wonderful evening.

Boxing Day Family Meal. I cannot fault this restaurant the staff were fantastic, friendly and welcoming couldn't do enough for us! All of the food was lovely, good portion sizes. Relaxing atmosphere. Had a trip here a few weeks ago, but I forgot to post a review! We have been here a few times now, and the food is always fantastic, I have met the head chef, and he is very knowledgeable about his food and recommendations! I'm the kind of person who likes to get the chef to recommend something as I can never pick. Great atmosphere and front of house very well ran, with very friendly staff. I recommend garlic chilli nantara (if that's how it's spelt) Thanks for a great experience every time we come. What a little gem! I nearly forgot to add that I saw so many certificates and paper articles and stuff around the place for their great work and food they do! See you in the new year all staff at the maya have a great Christmas 🎄 😀

Stayed at a local Airbnb and took a punt after seeing positive reviews and food hygiene score of 5 Wasn't disappointed - food arrived hot and tasted fresh and well-made. I had the chicken tawa and it barely registered on my spice-o-meter - I'd recommend it My partner had the south Indian fish curry and it was, in her words, "bloody lovely".

Really nice food and a great experience, with a nice personel touch from the staff. Would come again.

Very enjoyable meal here on a Friday evening. Not especially busy, but pleasant atmosphere. Food perhaps a little slow to arrive but we enjoyed the relaxed pace. Food was delicious, all six of us were delighted with our meal, spice levels were exactly as described and just what we wanted. Some interesting alternatives to standard curries. Well worth the visit and we will definitely be back!

Amazing! Had quite a few takeaways from Maya over the years and they've always been great but last night my wife and I decided to eat in...the food was even better. Great atmosphere and the service was also first class and genuine. We could not recommend this place more highly.

Love this place. The only Indian restaurant we will go to since we discovered it. The food is off the chart, and the service is friendly and efficient.

Have visited twice and can honestly say on both occasions the waiters went above and beyond to make sure we had everything we needed and made us feel very welcome. On our second visit the waiters even took time to talk to our little disabled girl. Food was fantastic. Highly recommended. They even made sure that there was no coriander in my sisters meal as she is allergic to it.

Had a lovely indian meal here first time we have used it great service always asking if we needed anything some needed time for me and hubby and were looked after and really enjoyed our time here

The food and service are both excellent everytime at Maya. They even remembered my husband's birthday after I mentioned it during a previous visit and gave him a free drink. We can highly recommend this friendly restaurant serving delicious Indian food.

A brilliant place for a curry, trendy and very tasty. The staff are friendly and a good laugh and the price is very reasonable. Going back again soon. Update, been again many times since this review, all the above still stands, relaxed, tasty, reasonably priced and a lovely atmosphere. All good!

Ate here a while ago. It's a funny place. We visited on a Monday evening and there were only a scattering of people. First they sit you on the leather sofas in the somewhat bleak bar/waiting area. I think it's supposed to feel a bit special... The main dining area has the ambience of a deserted wedding reception at the village hall. The staff were friendly and enthusiastic. The food was fine and cheap - standard Indian restaurant stuff with some endearing attempts to make the presentation classy. On the whole, pretty good for an area that is otherwise a desert restaurant-wise.

Great food and service every time

Food looked lovely. The egg fried rice and garlic and mushroom nan bread were delicious alas the curry was quite tasteless and had no spice whatsoever. The desserts are misrepresented on the menu as the pictures look nothing like what you receive. I was also overcharged on drinks and they tried to overcharge my dessert which I did pull them up on.

Was I little bit disappointed….

Very expensive, prices go up literally every week, nice food bit not affordable to people on the poverty line.

Tried this as an alternative takeaway and we were disappointed. Ordered online. The customer service at collection was PP and when I got home the order was incorrect. The food was nice but didn't make up for the other poor service.

We had a group booking for 10 in the early evening at 6pm, there was adequate parking on site and it wasn't too busy when we got there - on Tuesday's they have an offer to get any starter, any main with naan/rice for £12! Service was prompt and efficient - waiters looked after us and came round to clear empty plates and take any drinks orders for people with empty glasses without being prompted. The food also arrived in good time. Little details like serving on hot plates and thoughtful presentation was nicely appreciated. The dishes were fresh, tasty and of decent quality, everyone cleared their plates! Overall, an enjoyable atmosphere and definitely a restaurant you would come back to again.

Really love the place but the beer makes the bill quite expensive

I've given Maya 5* in the in past. But I'm afraid that the last takeaway was very poor. It was bland, tasteless and boring, and it wasn't cheap either. To Maya: You can charge Maya level money for Maya quality food, but you can't do it when the food is a massive disappointment. I won't be back in a hurry because your competitors do it better for less.

Fresh, tasty curry; great for eat in and take away.

Almost faultless. The delivery was early considering the size of the order and no missing items. The food itself was a mix of top quality ingredients and cooking. Everything had its own little touch and lots of flavour. If i were to fault anything it would only be the naan was a bit thick and doughy for me, i prefer a bit thinner and crispy, but the flavours were good. One of the best curry houses i've ordered from.

The first bite is with the eye - beautifully presented food from a most interesting menu. Rather different from most Indian restaurants with fish and seafood featuring. The staff team are welcoming and attentive. All in all, well worth the walk from our canalside mooring.

It has a food hygiene rating of ZERO !!!!!!!!! (On the food standards agency website) The report is horrendous. Stay very clear of this place if you want to stay healthy. I feel horrible thinking i have eaten there considering they found lamb and fruit with mould on. Dirty dirty people

Staff need to calm down and not shout so much, people can wait and have better food instead of rushing everything, the manager needs to calm down and not panic so much with his employees!
