Max Chinese Takeaway in Lancaster

Yuk! Haven’t used Max for a while but fancied a Chinese and thought we would give it another chance as we had guests, but wish we hadn’t. Arrived barely warm and sweaty, presumably we were last delivery on the run. Chicken spring rolls were small but nice. Chicken balls over cooked, salt and pepper chicken and chips both refried to a point they were like rocks and overloaded with onion. Rice and noodles were ok, but the curry sauce was gritty. Really disappointed and won’t be returning, waste of £50!

Good quality food and delivered hot. Every dish was prepared well flavoured and I would definitely order again.

although the delivery was 20 minutes early,there was items missing, bag of chips & 2 cans of pop. when I phoned to query the lady was not apologetic & advised the missing food will be sent out within 45mins, I said but the chips are needed with the meal, she then stated to eat the food that was delivered & wait for chips because she hasn't got an airport to deliver the food quicker. then had the audacity to blame a " young girl " who's new for packing the food & missing item. DISAPPOINTING

Had an order last night,spent £45.Ordered ribs in honey,when they came,they weren’t full ribs,just rib ends,just rubbish for the cost of £8.When I order ribs I want full belly ribs,not those bits.Wont be ordering anything again.

They don’t usually put onions in omelette there were lots of. Chips were warmed up not nice at all .

Great delivery, spent over £45 and received no freebies! The ribs were not great but the rest was nice.

Chicken smelled off so these weren't eaten. I can still 'taste' the off despite cleaning my teeth. We normally enjoy leftovers the next day but this food has gone straight into the outside bin as the rest 9f the food does not taste as it should

Very different chicken fried rice from the last time I ordered it. Not nearly as good. Very disappointing. And the gravy was very odd. Edible but it was sweet. This made for a strange chicken and chips.

Max’s Chinese take out is one of if the best takeaway in Morecambe. Never had trouble ordering and they also go above and beyond if a mistake is made on their side. So highly recommended

Hmmm, used to be our go to Chinese but not anymore! Ordered sausage, chips and curry sauce, we’re still looking for the sausage amongst the inedible chips. Despite being soaked in curry sauce you would need a chainsaw to cut through them! Rest of the order was ok, but nothing to shout about. More inedible chips, chicken balls hot but soaked in grease, plain noodles ok, egg fried rice with a distinct lack of egg. Need to find a new Chinese now as we won’t return to this one!

Was overpriced for the food supplied. Would rather eat boiled dog eggs. The prawn toast had a severe lack of prawn, may aswell have just been toast. The ribs, were as dry as kierans sense of humour. Pretty sure the sweet and sour dog was chicken, disappointed. The seaweed was just grass. Had to slather the chips in marmite to add flavour. My Indian friend snorted some of the 'seaweed', instructions unclear. Overall, my compliments to Zhe xu for a job well done, its the best we could have expected from him.

Absolutely terrible chips ordered through the Morecambe food app rather than Just eat but unfortunately you cant leave a review or ask for a refund due to inedible food all you get is call restaurant which is a useless solution. So back to the chips impossible to eat unless you want a massive dental bill. Impossible to stab one with a fork unless you wear safety spectacles as they either bend the fork or shatter & fly across the room. Talk about triple cooked chips well these were triple fried until they were harder than Pork scratchings. I wouldnt mind but the shop actually sells fish N chips so you would think they would know when they sent them out how bad they were so it makes me believe they dont care... If they dont care about a few chips then it makes you think about ordering again from them. Finally after soaking them in sweet and sour sauce and OK sauce we thought we might stand a chance of them going soft regrettably it didnt work in the slightest. Photos show the chips we didnt fancy trying at all and the rest on the plates are the ones we risked getting a huge dental bill trying to bite one!

Max is my go to take away, the food its self ive never had any issues with however but three times now they have missed the drinks off in my order & had to wait minimum of 45 minutes for them to be delivered.

Over half late and was freezing cold making it uneatable

Terrible tonight. Over 2 hours late, food luke warm and nowhere near the usual standard. No apology from driver. Awful, won’t ever order from here again.

Super quick delivery, expected 40 mins was here in 20mins. Only issue was the dish in the new items menu - chicken and beef in black bean sauce - there was no chicken when it arrived just beef.

It’s not allowing me to select the right time, but it was 25 mins late. However, worth the wait! The food is delicious and hot. Definitely one of the better quality Chinese takeaways in the area. Will definitely be ordering again.

The delivery was estimated 7:30-7:50. Got in touch twice and was told it would actually be 8:15. Our food didn't arrive til 8:25. The sweet and sour with battered chicken wasn't even a meal. It was a bunch of battered chicken with a separate dipping sauce!! The other food was standard takeaway. Disappointed for the price. Won't bother again.

Terrible meal watery tasting garlic with to chopped onions hardly no duck disappointing to have spent my hard earned money on that

Always use this chinese takeaway when travelling to heysham to visit family, this is the best chinese in the area!

Sorry to say this meal wasn’t nearly as good as usual. Rice was dark with soy sauce or something the chicken in it was tough and dry and included a large piece of soggy chicken skin. The sweet and sour chicken had a lot of batter pieces with no chicken. Rock solid and any that did contain a little chicken were were totally overcooked. I must say this is very unusual and I will buy from them again as they are usually superb.

Ordered whilst staying at Ocean Edge Caravan Park. Food was delicious, nice and hot. Curry sauce is amazing. Only criticism is the chips were very dry. Would definitely order again.

Salt and pepper chicken had FAR too much chilli on it, it’s was ridiculously hot and made it inedible.

First time to Max’s and have to say it’s up there with the best Chinese takeaways I have had! Food taste and quality was second to none. Highly recommend and if up here again would definitely be visiting again.

Disappointed, not as good as used to be, Pork with chilli n garlic over padded with onions as bulk of dish, couldn't taste chilli. Singapore noodles ok but no shrimp to be found. Think cut backs on meats/shrimp etc n filling you up on cheaper veg.

Chicken balls over cooked and had to throw away. Ribs fatty and no sauce as it leaked into the bag. We have used Max for over 10 years. Will not be ordering again.

Coming from Halifax on a weekly basis I can tell you one thing..... This Chinese is the best Chinese I have ever had!!! Can not find anything like this place around, the Salt and pepper chips are to die for 😜😜

Asked for ASAP, came really quickly. I’m staying on a caravan site to offered for the driver to call me & I’d drive down to reception to meet them. It’s a bit of a faff being 24° today and I’m here alone with 4 dogs I would have needed to load them into the car. But, the driver was able to find me no problem. Good as always was lovely! Max’s is my favourite Chinese takeaway, I only wish they’d open a store in my home town as I don’t visit the caravan often!

Ordered and was told delivery time would 40 minutes. After an hour I phoned the restaurant to be told it was on its way. Food then arrived 1hr 20mins late. Very poor.

Great meal, Thankyou. My first time ordering from here, so i ordered a special fried rice.. i asked for the sauce in a separate tub, thinking the sauce would be just that sweet red sauce. Wrong. I got two containers, one with fried rice and one with what looked like a whole different meal in, because i'm thick, i only expected one container with the fried rice in and a little polystyrene tub of sweet red barbecue sauce. I was wrong again! From *many other* takeaways you generally just get a tray of your fried rice with a few bits of whatever meat thrown in, every time there seems to be less meat too, but NOT from this, the Max Chinese Takeaway. This takeaway is completely different, instead of a few tiny scraps of meat we got a full tray of meat and veg in some kind of pleasant sauce.. when plated out, the plates looked like someone had prepared an actual fried rice meal full of things, broccoli, onions, corn, meats and plenty of it to go with the rice, i don't eat mushrooms or seafood, so i asked for them to not be included, but i imagine there would be plenty of those also if you had the normal, full dish. I phoned up, confused thinking i had the wrong order as the chips were missing, the takeaway told me that that is actually their special fried rice dish ! - i was impressed, though i felt a little stupid :) they soon delivered chips within 4 or 5 minutes too, the people on the phone were lovely, polite & helpful, and the driver was brill, very polite & friendly, top marks all round. And no, i don't work for the restaurant, or have any connections, I'm just writing up the nice surprise i had, and how feel like i got actual value for money, instead of, like from most other takeaways, more rice, and less meat .. this was worth the money. Good work Max Chinese :)

I can honstly say the worse chippy ever been to 8 of us on a fishing trip all the food was bland and most of ud didnt eat it the chips was awfull solid overcooked frozen chips how is this place staying open

Just back from a week's holiday. Wish I had known about Max quicker. Only managed a take out one night. Lovely food and friendly service, all reasonably priced. Loved the free spring rolls. Will use again if in the area.
