Nice Micro pub great beer reasonable price Shame about the foul language sometimes.

A fantastic micropub selling it's own beers from st George's brewery at wakering plus many guest ales. I've never had a dodgy pint in there !no food, apart from bar snacks but believe they allow takeaways from local food outlets to be eaten inside .worth a visit .

High quality, local beers. Well maintained pipes. Great service and affordable. Older crowd means atmosphere can be little muted but sometimes that’s what you want.

Love this place. Not my local but the choice is great, prices reasonable and love the updated decor. If you like your ales, this is a must! As long as you open to more than standard lagers, this is a place to go, if only for the retro tabletop video game consol they have.

Lovely little place with excellent drinks and friendly staff

If you like different beers they have a decent selection, if you like snug bar then you'll get it here especially on the busy nightsprices are comparable with most pubs.

I really liked it in here. Doesn't look much from the outside as it is essentially a converted shop, but once inside it's a cosy space with great local beers brewed in Essex and an interesting non-standard snack selection. Felt like a really good natured locals establishment, which is fine by me.

Great selection of real ales, friendly laid back atmosphere. The clientele tend to be more mature as it isn't really a place for lager drinkers.

Found by chance whilst walking around South Church. Everything you'd need if you love real ale's, warm atmosphere and live music .

Best micropub around. Good selection of beers in great condition. Prices are reasonable, although I thought the crisps were rather exorbitant. Friendly staff and a pleasant relaxed atmosphere.

This was a great discovery. It is indeed a very small pub, but the welcome was warm and the drinks were good......and you can't always say that about a larger pub. Another good Sunday afternoon at Mawsons. I was meeting friends but I would happily come here alone if I felt like hoibf out for a drink.

Unfortunatly I had a bad day, was anerversary of my mums death today... I was quite rude to Mr Mawson, and feel very bad about that, I did try to apologise, and although he was upset, he was very sincere, and just asked me to go himehome. This Pub is Amazing, soo friendly, VERY dog and Family friendly.. I'm sorry I let myself down today.

Perfect cask and perfect kegged beer. Extremely well priced and a diverse bottle selection as well. An absolute gem for beer lovers. George brewery pale was class as well.

Great local ale..Wakering beer, never sure which one to try but he allows a small taster ..I'm new to the place but was made welcome by the manager..hence 5 stars..so yeah great little pub .

Needed a last minute birthday present on Sunday. Rang the Brewery but no answer. An hour or so later Mark rang me back and personally delivered a box of beers to me within the hour. You saved my bacon and my cousin was very pleased.

Manager is an overbearing person. Doesnt really care about his customers and way way overpriced.

Nice little place, quite friendly

We went for a nice drink with our dog only to be treated very rudely by the manager/owner! He had already been rude to other customers who had walked out earlier when we were just sitting with our dog who sat next to us and some other customers across from us asked if they could say hello we said yes and our dog went across only a few steps to say hello on our command at which point he said that we have to hold her on the lead even though she was on a lead. He at the same time was having a go at other clients who were sitting with their lovely dog next to them trying to tell them to move their dog who wasn’t blocking anyone’s way and his manner was very rude in the tone of voice he used. He then accused our dog of being not well behaved as well as the other dog when both dogs were brilliantly behaved and on leads and will only listen or move on the owners commands. If this owner/manager does not like dogs and cannot deal with them especially well behaved dogs then they should not be a dog friendly pub when he is on duty!!!! We have been there before where there has been many dogs and it was very welcoming but in this instance it was not welcoming or dog friendly at all!!! Such a shame as it use to be a great little pub!

Bitter sweet visit tonight I’m really sad to say. It’s my birthday today (yeah me!) and as my hubs and I have done on lots of occasions, we took our baby girl (8mth Bernese) with us for a drink. Owner came to us to tell us to keep her on lead. We always do, she’s a fabulous pup but she’s a tank so we are careful about her socialisation and every ones safety. He then got into an awkward row with another dog owner. At the point where we heard him say he was going to ban all dogs, we drank and left. To all the patrons past, if our girl has ever upset you, if we’ve let her off lead (I’m genuinely convinced we’ve not but accept criticism if we have) I wholeheartedly apologise. We loved coming here with her, loved her meeting people and of course Casey 🥰 I’m really upset this has happened on my birthday, but I can’t ever visit this pub again. It’s not dog friendly and that’s fine for any pub to be but if we’ve been the problem I’d have preferred a better approach on the numerous times we’ve been there than my birthday today. Whilst I’m here, for what it’s worth, the bar staff are absolutely awesome. We’ll miss you xxx

We for a quick drink before s Indian. Boys love the beer. Lovely rhubarb Gin and tonic fever tree of cause. Lovely.
