So moving from their take-away on Narborough Road Maurizio's make the pizza in the city in my opinion. The pies have superb taste and texture and have a looser base compared to some which is best with a knife and fork rather than pick-up. Neopolitan style, there are a wide range of options of flavours and styles. Meat and vegetarian options are well represented. Beer is from the mountains of Lazio and is very tasty. We also had some of their grilled vegetables which were served with balsamic vinegar dressing and were nicely cooked and full of flavour. Service at Italian restaurants is always done with style and care and this was no exception. Very happy with this aspect. This is a great spot for a full dinner and the desserts and pasta looked equally good but one pizza is generally enough. This is well worth checking out.

Just returned from our first visit to Maurizio's and it's was absolutely fantastic! Great atmosphere and the food was unreal! We had arancini, deep fried calzone, diavola pizzas with additional toppings, linguine Bolognese, bombaloni and tiramisu and everything was exceptional all the ingredients were top quality. Definitely my new favourite place to eat and will be taking any opportunity to head back to Leicester to eat there many times in the future

The best pizza I’ve ever had so far

Lovely small authentic independent Italian restaurant, definitely better than the chain restaurants everywhere. The food is excellent, as is the service. Huge portions, we had to take some home (they provide boxes). We’re told that the beer is going to be on tap very soon, bonus! If you like good food, good quick service with no bells and whistles, this restaurant is for you. Well worth a visit.

Rubish veggie pizza poor Quality

I don't often leave reviews but this is by far the best pizza I had in this country. The space is a little tight especially for a pram but the staff were extremely acomodating. Service was 10/10 to say the least (speaking as hospitality manager). Couldn't recommend enough. Can't wait to return! Amazing.

This is the first time we had been to Maurizio’s restaurant however not the first time I have tried the food as I used to order way back when … and it didn’t disappoint… such a cosy authentic place the staff are all lovely the atmosphere was calm and easy … now for the food … my partner had a pizza which tasted as good as it looked I had the seafood linguine from the specials board this tasted fresh and vibrant the seafood was cooked to perfection and still full of flavour the pasta and sauce had depth and was perfectly balanced … washed down with a fabulous glass … or two glasses of red wine … thank you Maurizio’s for bringing this little gem of a restaurant to the city

Although the food is good, the service is very rude. The treatment towards indians especially is really disappointing. They wouldn't even care to say a 'thank you'.

Went to this place the pizza is average as Leicester has lots of choice now. I read somewhere that they have no Food Hygiene Rating and was SHOCKED Maurizio’s not listed on the FSA website maybe they are exempt as a small unit. But somehow MyDelhi that opened a few months ago is registered on the Food Hygiene website. I think Maurizio’s will gain more respect if they register for the food hygiene rating because I for one would always only go to a eatery with a food hygiene rating.

Ordered a pizza with no oregano as I am allergic to it and and the pizza had oregano. Asked kindly to remake my pizza but I was told that it was not possible. Nothing was even offered to reimburse the mistake.

Staff were attentive. Food was delicious. You could see how passionate staff were to give you the best experience. Massive well done to the young lad who looked after us all evening! Will be back again with friends and family!

Felt like I was transported back to Italy. The ingredients are clearly of quality and the taste of everything we ordered was superb!

I love this place and the food is always delicious and value for money. My go to dish is the pesto pasta. The desserts are great, my favourite being tiramisu.

The food was very good, especially the pizza. You can feel the quality of the ingredients. As for the climate, the places in the basement are not encouraging. The table next to us was full of boxes, glasses, loose knives on the table, and cleaning supplies. A bit of order would be nice.

I had a nice time here. I called ahead a week ago to make a reservation for 12pm just in case 😆 owner was friendly. Food was really filling and yummy - I got tagliatelle salmone and tiramisu. Would definitely come again to try a different meal. 😊

Excellent pizzas plus a good range of pastas and side dishes that complement the mains. A good range of wines too, all Italian, so you will need to ask about them if the names are unfamiliar. Service is unobtrusive but good. A decent selection of vegetarian options. Can't recall vegan options. They'll box up any pizza you can't finish so you can enjoy it the next day too. Not the most accessible venue: tables are close together and the loo is quite small. Booking advised.

I dined at Maurizio's last night and was delighted by food, service and atmosphere. I will describe this fantastic dining experience below. I had Pizza Margherita accompanied by a glass of Montepulciano. The meal ended with a shot of Amaro. Pizza was light and ingredients were fresh and authentic. More importantly, food is made in front of you while you are waiting at the table. I myself make pizzas in my stone baked oven in Italy and could recall the authentic taste of Italian pizza. Pizza was delicious! Service was fantastic - Maurizio and staff looked after me and were very kind. Maurizio showed me the ingredients he used to make the doughs and also showed me the raising stages he goes through to make sure his pizzas won't disappoint customers. Waiters were attentive and courteous - they asked us if we were happy with food more than once. Atmosphere is unique - I do not remember other dining places that are so toasty and warm. Décor is crafted by Maurizio himself and the environment is rustic - simple yet fascinating furniture and tapestry with basic table utensils reminiscing Italian old fashioned rustic houses. A return to one of those idyllic small restaurants scattered across Southern Italy. Overall, it was a very pleasant evening, with great food and a beautiful atmosphere. I definitely recommend Maurizio's!

This restaurant is No1 on my list when it comes to pizza!

Good selection of pizzas and pasta, but pricey for the quality. The sides of salad and roasted vegetables were very good. In a crowded field of good Italian restaurants in Leicester they’re not one I’d recommend.

Visited last month on a Saturday evening. Very small but cosy restaurant so booking in advance is required to guarantee a table. David pizza and fries were very nice.

The food would be nice until you realise 1. Pizzas are massively overpriced due to popularity (£12 for a pizza Margherita is a theft, and the owner being Italian knows that), 2. You pay as if you were in a gourmet or a classy restaurant while you have to sit in a crowded space without windows, and little ambience, 3. they only have a 3* hygiene rating, 4. The table service is embarrassing, the waiters don't know the menu. And be ready to be forgotten if you are seated in the basement

Unfortunately, this was our favorite Italian restaurant until yesterday 17.11.2023 first of all they put us somewhere in the basement, the feeling was that you were in a sauna, the slightest spark would burn everything out in 5 minutes. The service was low, the wait for food was about 40 minutes. I always ordered carbonara pasta there, never had any problems, but yesterday it was something terrible. I have never eaten such disgusting pasta, half a plate of fat with strange bacon, and it was also bitter. We made a remark, to which we were told, sorry, our chef followed the recipe (what the hell is the recipe? I ate fat with pasta; I felt like I was eating an English breakfast with pasta). After this pasta, I spent the night in the toilet; I have never felt so bad. I'll never go back there again. It's a pity that people make money but don't think about the quality of food I am very sorry that I have to give such an assessment, but I really felt very bad and I think that the apology was not enough. I would advise people to be careful before ordering food there.

I considered not leaving a review because I didn't want to deal with the owners sass. But I honestly don't plan on returning so I'm sure I'll cope. We had a pizza and the forest mushroom pasta, which honestly tasted like nothing, under seasoned and overcooked. The service was absolutely terrible, from them quite clearly forgetting our booking to not knowing who was actually going to be serving us. At one point a guy wanted to avoid taking our order so badly he said. 'someone will be with you in a minute' and then went and stood a couple of meters away from us doing literally nothing, waiting for someone else to notice and take an order. Even then the guy who took the order only bought us 1 drink instead of 2 and that was also wrong. I don't get all this 'there's no service charge so you don't get good service' because we didn't even get the absolute bare minimum.

I am in complete shock . I have just been kicked out of the restaurant. We ordered three meals only one was brought to the table. After 15 mins we asked about the two other meals and was told the chef had dropped them on the floor and would be another 5-6 mins . Which we couldn't wait for as had to be somewhere. The owner appeared at the table trying to charge us for the drinks and one meal. When we refused to pay the owner got aggressive and threw us out. He pulled the table out from my mum and shouted at us to leave and then slammed the door on us. As we were leaving the other waiter said to us he was so sorry. That speaks volumes. Do not go here .

Fantastic Italian restaurant! Love the pizza (Napoli style) and the pasta! Service was genuine and friendly. Reservation is recommended. We ordered Calabrese pizza (if you into spicy) and Strozzapreti with cream and italian sausage as per the staff's recommendation.

Back from another glorious evening at Maurizio's! The food is just to die for, I would eat there every night if I could!

Quite a nice little place, however, from the selection of beers on the menu they only had one type available, which happened to be the most expensive. I ordered carbonara with tagliatelle, the past was over cooked to the point of being a plate of slimy slush, didn't taste terrible overall. When I told the waiter that the pasta was overcooked he just shrugged. Not a great experience really!

Meal was good, had the pasta and it was tremendous. However the service is awful I mean terrible! You have to ask multiple times for things and it’s so slow even thou was hardly anyone in. The worst part was when I asked for a box to takeaway the rest of my pasta I was told it was 50p!!!. It’s appalling to charge that to anyone, it’s actually embarrassing after paying £50 for a meal. It’s clear that the chef can cook pasta and pizza but the place is so poorly managed that it’s a no go for me I will never go back to that place.

Tiny hidden family run place that's a hidden gem. Incredible flavors and an amazing pizza base. I always get the maurizo pizza which is without a doubt the best pizza in Leicester. Never had pistachio and truffle on a pizza and they go so well together. Take my girlfriend here on a date everytime she visits and loves it a lot.

while the food was good, after eating my meal I watched the chef go to the bathroom and stock up on items/tidy up and then go back to the kitchen and continue making food without washing his hands so gross. Service was not great.

What a great place. I was recommended this by a friend and we went for lunch last week. My youngest son said it was the best pizza he'd ever had. My eldest had a brilliant fresh carbonara. All the food was great, lovely italian atmosphere. We will definitely be back.

What a delight and breath of fresh air for the Italian restaurant industry in leicester. An Italian owner that actually smiles at you and willing to go that extra mile. Loved the little quirky setup with all the Italian colours all around and the hand painted wall with Italy’s locations was pretty cool too. Food was amazing, the pizzas were not soggy and came to the table steaming hot. Daughters pasta was excellent, only thing is that it arrived early whilst we were still finishing starters, but not a big issue. Well worth a try along with the Italian beer 😉. Desserts were ridiculously tasty, be warned lol

Came here a while ago but forgot to review... Sorry. Food was absolutely fantastic and easily matches up to the ones we've had in various parts of Italy. The montecasino beer was a real surprise (not peroni) and was delicious. We were seated downstairs which I see some people have an issue with. Well we didn't because we hadn't booked and they did us a favour by fitting us in. Upstairs is obviously the main area but it was fine as an overflow. I would rather sit down there than go to pizza express 🤪 Cheers

Incredible Neapolitan pizza, always hits the spot. Review update: we were out in the basement which preview reviews had given a bad opinion of but it was very nice and cosy! Also we tried the Montecassino beers and they were azing, I want to order a crate of them!

Love this place, it’s like being on holiday! Going to lay it down and say this is the best pizza I’ve had in the Uk, it really is something special. The pasta dishes are top notch as well and price wise it’s a steal.

After seeing so many positive reviews about the food at Maurizio’s, I was so happy that we finally went!! What I ordered: Spaghetti Carbonara - this is my favourite dish of all time and the best I have had was in Rome when we visited last May. I always ordered a carbonara to know if an Italian restaurant is good. Let’s just say that this is my second favourite carbonara I have ever had (the first one being in Rome). The bacon was so crispy. The pasta was cooked to perfection. The sauce that coated it all was so moreish. Just incredible! Fries - stated as fries on the menu but actually served with rosemary and Parmesan😍. What a treat! Food: 10/10 ⭐️ When reading reviews of this restaurant on Instagram, everyone says the food is great (which it is). However, no one ever really mentions the service. If you go onto Google reviews, there are not many sterling reviews regarding the service. Unfortunately, we did not have the best experience. The food was great but I don’t think I will be visiting again until they are a bit more established and are running smoothly. It took around 5-10 minutes before I asked someone to take our drinks order to which the waitress said that the other waiter had to do that. Because it then took even longer to get our drinks order taken, I asked if we could order food at the same time to which he said no because he had to take drinks orders for other tables. It is a small restaurant so delivery drivers were waiting in the middle of everyone eating, along with customers waiting to be seated. Later on, a family of 6 came in and were told that there was a problem with their booking. The waiter was trying to sort it out but seemed very puzzled. He then came over to our table and asked us to move…this has never happened to me. The family seemed lovely and it wasn’t their fault so my partner and I were more than willing to swap tables for them, but it was so unprofessional of the staff to do this, in my opinion. Thank god our food hadn’t come! My reviews will ALWAYS be honest and unfortunately, this was not a good experience.

Worst experience for service. After booking a time and told to wait another 30 mins and then waiting for 1 hour and 10 mins and then being told to leave if you don’t like it. At the end of the meal where the orange juice was the best part we’re told by the owner they would call the police on us because we asked for a discount for the appalling service. There is a video circulating about this guy who is treating customers like this before, wish I had recorded it. Minus stars.
