The pizza in here is really good, it’s a great place to take the kids, the beer and wine are good, it’s reasonably priced and the service is quick so your in and out with the kids in no time for an early dinner. Quality food

Visited Matto for lunch and it was absolutely gorgeous, i really enjoyed it simple but effective. Great atmosphere and interior and the staff were super attentive and knowledgeable about the Menu and were able to provide great reccomendations, I would visit again and reccomend to others.

The service was very good and the food really really delicious. The only thing I did not really like was how little space there was. I had to squeeze through tables and chairs and bumped into people when arriving and leaving.

soggy pizza, long wait time, grumpy looking manager

We were served by a waitress who was just totally done with her job. Was around 18-21, had a nose ring, completely dispassionate, and that energy brushed off in every customer interaction we witnessed where she never smiled once, was dismissive, never followed up with customers about orders etc. Pizza was not cut, they did not offer to cut the pizza in advanced, did not bother to get us cutlery to do so. Overall just really bad customer service. Do not recommend. Get a pizza elsewhere.

Finally a pizzeria in Edinburgh that I will happily return to! The aubergine and artichoke pizza was absolutely delicious. Plenty of veggie and meaty options. A £3.50 add on for bufala mozzarella is potentially a wee bit steep, but was the deal 🍕

I ordered delivery one night, and while the pizza arrived lukewarm, it was still delicious. Even based on that experience, I would return.

Pizza was fantastic and we had a nice evening over all. But the service was very amateurish and the kitchen prioritised take away before dining guests. They also need training on general service and courtesy. Nothing that is not easily remedied but took from whether we try again or just stick with 1926.

Some of the best pizza in Edinburgh! Ingredients are clearly fresh and there are plenty of topping options. There are both indoor and outdoor seating which is great. The affogato is also a great dessert option with lovely ice cream and tasty espresso. Will for sure be back!

We finally timed it right to go to Matto Mondays, after months of trying. I purposely planned an appointment for my pizza-loving son for today so I could take him out of school and then for a special pizza treat after his appointment. I was very surprised to find that it's been cancelled from the chef after spending £4 to park for the hour. I couldn't let my son down, despite the unexpected cost increase, so we ordered a number 2 and 10. I'd have taken the opportunity to have bought and tried more styles of pizza had the deal been on. Both pizzas were delicious, but we'll likely not be back. It's too costly to come with parking and without the promotion.

Genuine Italian food, just great!

Great place to sit and enjoy some top quality pizza in the sun. Not the best pizza I've had in Edinburgh but definitely in the top 3. Gets difficult to choose at that high level. The young lass who served us was great and very friendly. Overall I would recommend this to anyone who enjoys a proper pizza. Great for a lunch with friend, birthday or even a special occasion. I'll definitely be back.

Great pizza but whichever girl was answering the phone on Saturday the 1st of June was incredibly rude. Don’t care if it was busy. I’ve worked busy restaurants and cafes and I wasn’t rude to customers. If you can’t handle it get a job in McDonalds.

Ken this , from the second we sat down ,till we left the service was exemplary, and the food even betterer , yes the word betterer doesn't exist but it should for these pizza's oh my outstanding, the wife had the number 2 I had the number 10 then we both shared the dessert calzone omg

Pizzas are unreal!! Great cosy place with friendly service. Seafood platter is a must. Definitely my new pizza favourite.

Another lunch of a couple of Pizza’s with red wine at Matto Pizza in Morningside Road. We had one Margherita and one Pepperoni pizza. Both very tasty and not too many burnt bits which makes a pleasant change. This was followed by some Tiramisu and all washed down with a bottle of red wine. The red wine was the cheapest of the 3 on offer and although tasty at £28 is ridiculously overpriced so we will be doing that again. Its not that long ago since it was £14 a bottle. A nice place for a tasty lunch served by nice staff, just watch the drink prices.

Very nice and chilled place. The pizzas are next level! If you like a bit of meat however, double check the pizza you order. You do have an abundance of meat to add to your pizza as extra however! The staff are extremely friendly and attentive (even with our late arrival time or 40 mins before kitchen closing!) 😃👌 Highly recommended!!

Great pizza with somewhat unusual toppings Almost always busy at peak times and they don't take bookings so pick your time to visit but staff do a decent job of managing this.

Hands down some of the best Neopolitan pizza in Edinburgh. You can't book, but with the wait at the door to get in.

Excellent place for pizza, hasn't disappointed us. They have a fixed selection of 15 pizzas, with 2 rotating specials every month. Only one of a few restaurants offering dips with their pizza, which is a winner in my books

A great pizza restaurant that I would love to dine in again and again. It's unique as it offers Neapolitan pizzas that you don't see often around here and they're well made! Good amount of drinks, casual street-like atmosphere and offers tasty desserts (despite being only a couple). Highly recommend to pizza lovers and those who enjoy the cuisine of Italy and Naples.

Truly the best vegan pizza I have ever had and certainly the best in Edinburgh. Their “Special 2” with a tapenade base is mind blowingly delicious. Lovely place too.

Shocking delivery service by deliveroo ,guy walking about trying to find our flat for 10 minutes with Bare pizza boxes in hand,after 15 mins wondering around, our pizzas were stone cold! Had to put them in the oven for some warmth,to be fair the pizzas were lovely but ice cold! Sort out the delivroo drivers because honestly we will never order from you again,50 pound wasted

If you like burnt and rubbish pizza and flat lager served in old beer tankards, then this is for you. I would not recommend any dishes, but it would appear that this site doesn't let you complete it without a recommendation. Kind of says it all.

Nice pizza but a little overpriced for what we got!

Maybe too much hype around this place ruined it a bit, but to me it was far from 5 stars and I tend to be generous with these reviews. The pepperoni pizza was too sweet because of the chilli honey, I do like sweet and sour combinations but this was too much unfortunately. The aubergine and artichoke one was delicious. I also ordered a bolognese arancini(no photo sorry), I wasn’t impressed by it - it was a bit dry, small and again the combination was not great for me. I decided it could’ve been my poor order choice so gave them a chance and ordered the tiramisu and that was a bit of disappointment as well. It was very sweet, almost it felt that there is chocolate inside. In terms of service, the staff was great, but it was little things like having water for the table and getting it refilled. It is hard to say if I will come back, while the aubergine pizza was good, nothing else lived up to the hype. I think if I fancy a pizza, I will probably try somewhere else.

Let's start off with the only negative thing about this place: the music was a bit too loud. But other than that, the ambiance was very welcoming. After we were sat, we immediately received a bottle of complementary water. We ordered our food (Top pizza: Pizza 1 with extra Pepperoni; Bottom Pizza: Pizza 10) and we waited around 7-10 minutes before it came out. The presentation was beautiful, but the flavour really brought it home for us. Perfectly sweet and salty tomato sauce and a light, yet crispy dough. It was very exciting to see that they had vegan (lactose free) mozzarella, which you can ask for instead of the regular mozzarella for free. I, personally, had the pizza on the bottom. The chili honey was no joke. The sweetness was very subtle, but you could really tell it apart from the rest of the ingredients. And don't be fooled by the first bite - that honey is ACTUALLY spicy. By the time I was done eating, i could really feel the spice. I was positively surprised by the spice level, as most chili oils at Pizza places don't really do it for me. Sadly we were too full for desert. We ended up paying 23£ (without the tip). I can surely say that for this price - quality ratio we definitely plan to come back and I highly recommend checking this place out!!

Seriously excellent. My family and I enjoyed lunch today at Matto and while all our pizzas were great mine was superb: the artichoke and aubergine one. It was even sublime when I had the second half at home later, resuscitated in the oven. Best pizza I’ve had in ages.

The food is undeniably excellent. Great pizzas, good portions and reasonable prices. They don't do any sort of kids size pizza, so if you take a child then you're paying for an adult and asking for a takeaway box. Why not just have a sign outside saying 'no kids'. The pizzas are made fresh so why not make a half size one?! The menu has a pretentious numbering system and doesn't have names. So you have to read through everything and when the order comes out and the number is long forgotten you are supposed to know what they mean. Why not call a margarita a margarita like everywhere else? Or name it after the ingredients? Everywhere else manages to. Drinks selection a bit disappointing. They don't take reservations.

Fantastic pizza. They also serve a good selection of sides and desserts. They have a decent-sized terrace to soak up the sun if the weather permits. Usually quite busy but the service is second to none so the turnover rate is fast… long story short, waiting 5-10 mins for a seat is worth it!

My friends and I have decided to deduct 2 stars. The food tonight was nice and can’t be faulted. The service however was slow, and it was mainly because of the deliveroo guys standing at the front door. They hung around like a bad smell and took up the waitress’s time which should have been spent on paying customers. For me, this is a sign of sheer greed from the owners.
