I greatly value the service & reasonably priced food choices available! Above all thank you for being a reward partner with Tesco allowing exchange of club card vouchers! Staff is also friendly and welcoming :) Slight point to improve may be the waiting time for food which can take longer when busy

Shockingly selfish attitude regarding car parking. I parked in the Matchstick Man car park in early December for less than an hour. I was having a coffee in Starbucks which is next to the pub, in fact I was parked 5 yards from the front door of Starbucks. I ‘tapped in’ my reg in Starbucks on the EuroParks screen. Turns out Starbuck customers are not allowed to use the pub car park, which was almost empty. The pub car park is also run by Euro Car Parks and a week later a £100 parking fine came through the post. There is detailed signage on display in the car park which is still very confusing. I went back and spoke to the pub manager who ‘matter of factly’ told me there was nothing he could do. A strange and confusing set up, best avoided at all times.

We came for the breakfast with Santa! We had a great time plenty of entertainment for the kids! Great staff, great breakfast and will definitely book again for next year!!

Staying at a nearby hotel on business, popped in to have a drink, and hoping to catch up on some emails, took my work bag with me. No where to sit in the bar area, I approached the hostess (who had just turned away a table of 8/10 people) at the restaurant desk approx 8.30pm) and politely asked if I could quietly sit at the first table in the restaurant which was vacant and totally cleared. I explained that I have arthritis in my back and would appreciate being able to sit down, and also showed my laptop bag saying a had some work to do. She said the restaurant closed. I again requested politely, she again declined, with absolutely zero empathy. This was considering that the restaurant was still 3/4 full of customers, so me sitting quietly on my own would not have been a problem for anyone. Not being able to sit anywhere in the bar area I chose to stand at the bar. As I needed to catch up on some emails, and was realistically unable to open my laptop on the bar counter, I quietly stood there catching up with my emails on my iPhone. Whilst I was standing there a couple walked past me to the restaurant, and I overheard them say they had a booking. This was approx 8.45pm. A moment later they walked past me, very annoyed as they had been turned away even though they had booked! Anyway, a few minutes later I was about to order another drink, when the 'hostess', who later told me she was the general manager, approached me and said she wouldn't serve me anymore and accused me of writing negative reviews. I explained that I wasn't writing reviews but was in fact on my emails, which I had been the whole time, and even showed her my mobile screen which was open on my emails. She said it didn't matter, that as licensee she could refuse to serve me, then she asked me to leave the premise! Naturally, I was confused, and again explained that I was simply on my emails. In any case, even if I was writing a review, so what! After what I had just witnessed with her clearly closing the restaurant earlier than she was supposed to, she deserves negative reviews! So, without arguing, I left. This was extremely embarrassing and distressing as this encounter happened in front of other staff and customers. This was absolutely disgusting and the most unprofessional customer service I have witnessed in many years. I am a business in my late fifties, with arthritis, which by the way is a disability, who only politely asked to quietly sit at a table. I have since sent a complaint email to Greene King complaints dept, who offered me a generic apology, as did the regional manager. Since then, I have requested a personal written apology from the said general manager, however, I received no further contact from Greene King complains department, which in itself is appalling service. So, three weeks after being falsely accused of writing a negative review, I feel that I need to do so. I have lost count of how many people I have now warned about this place. All it took was a simple apology. Awful.

So my experience at the Hungry Horse 🐴 goes like this.. I travelled to Manchester from Mallorca, drove to Liverpool late for a meeting and then onto another. Tired and hungry as a horse (see what I did there 🤣) I goofed and ordered mushroom and ale pie, my fault BUT Levi came to the rescue and advised me that I in fact was seeking “steak and Ale pie” YES I proclaimed, is it on the menu!?? Levi scooted to the kitchens and explained the buffoonery he learnt from me said punter!! Cheff said No problem, bring the offending mauled “mushroom pie” back and we’ll replace with what the buffoon is craving, steak and ale pie!! And Thanks go to: My main man Levi 🙌🏼 AJ an outstanding member willing to help and assist 🙌🏼 me with this long winded review 😊 Cora the delightful young lady behind the bar who helped to procure the correct beverage!! And of course the chefs 🙌🏼🙏🏼👏👏bang on steak and ale pie with chunky chips and succulent pie 😋😛🐐

Unacceptable behavior. I sent a text to Joey Hamilton ( the owners husband) And I asked if they had a table for 4 people on Xmas Day. On Nov 30.14.40. and he replied on the same day at 14.58. saying sorry fully booked. So I said ok . Then someone I know said they are sure they have tables left. So I asked my friend to see if they could book a table. So my friend got in touch with the matchstick man. Asking for a table for 4 people for Xmas day. And they was told YES they do have a table. They paid the £40 deposit. And it was booked.. so Joey Hamilton lied to me he didn't even go and check if there was any tables.NOT allowed.

AJ the best barista—just ask him! Knows all about heartburn and wines too. Real top guy, obviously.

The food seems a bit pre prepared, more just warmed up than cooked fresh, basic pub grub, and a little pricey unless you take advantage of the offers available, which vary each day. For Eg, if it's a Friday, the burgers are 2 for 1, but any other day, you pay full wack.

Great place, great location, friendly staff. Food is good, mix platter oh especially the pie. My son had the mac and cheese and the huge ice cream pudding, which was delicious 😋.. prices for what you have are more than reasonable was so surprised. Great value for money. Fantastic atmosphere, great for weekend entertainment, music lovers especially.. We would recommend for family and friends and we will be visiting again..

The overall experience was good. The service, environment and price were great. Originally, i wanted to order the fish and chips and steak & ale pie, but the fish and chips was out of order, and i was a bit disappointed. So i switched to Chicken New Yorker, and ot was not bad. My friend was impressed by the taste and size of the steak & ale pie. We would definitely go again due to our experience.

It's a very pleasant pub and they work hard, especially AJ. He is hardworker and he is so polite. I had a great time with my family

Didn't have all the food options in. Was still good. Atmosphere when football is on is a little odd. Get over it if someone else supports a different team, it's only football.

The food was very bland. The Apple and berry crumble was like frozen fruit and soft microwave crumble. Serving was alright. The classic meal deal two for £12 we thought was good bargain but the food wasn't good. I wouldn't go back.

had a lovely time here, lovely staff (especially a girl name corra) the service was very fast and the server was extremely helpful. she answered all our questions and offered puddings which we couldn’t finish!! would definitely recommend to anyone who wants brilliant service and value for money food.

Brilliant pub, serve a good variety of food, staff were very friendly and helpful and doorstaff were lovely. Clean throughout the whole of the pub even on matchdays.

Terrible service, food without cutlery, food WELL over cooked, and to top it off, you can't park overnight. Landlords are really petty. Wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. Knock it down and build a Frankie and Bennies!

We lived near by for 5 days and we were here almost every day. Great food, lots of beers and wine but the greatest of all was the service. AJ and every one made us feel welcome every time we came. Keep the awesome work you all do. ( Sorry for my English 😁)

Myself and my colleagues visit regularly and have never left disappointed, the atmosphere is always so welcoming and the staff always greet us warmly (often remembering our orders which is a sweet touch). Special shoutout to AJ for always making sure I leave with a smile on my face and not feeling like just another customer!

Aj is brilliant first class service and he remembered us from a previous visit when we came over from Ireland for a United match.

Love Matchstick Man! I tend to go in here to use my Tesco vouchers for a free meal. It's a lovely pub with a chilled atmosphere in the day time. The staff are always friendly and welcoming and the food is always really good and is served quickly. I tried the new Chicken Texas Toast recently and it was delicious, a real treat served with tons of fries. There's something for everyone on the menu and it's great how they have different offers on every day, being a Hungry Horse pub. Fridays are very good with buy one get one free on their burgers.

AJ provides top class service as always, and pours a proper good pint!

The food was amazing and great value! I absolutely loved our server, he was a brilliant and fantastic with my nut allergy. I love it when I can eat out and be confident with what I’m eating. He also brought our dessert out piping hot! He was everywhere.

I've never been here even though I've lived in the Quays for 6 years. I was pleasantly surprised with the lovely decor in the restaurant actually. I used the app, which was straightforward! I ordered the Sunday roast, it was quite tasty! It would be even better if it had more flavour / seasoning; also the gravy portion isn't enough to cover the roast. Service was very good but my friend ordered at the bar and the kitchen missed her side of pigs in blanket. All well resolved though! Thank you for a fab meal

Plenty of worry free parking and unlike the ECP car park it's free for customers of the pub only. But be careful because you have to go through the ECP car park to get to the pub car park. So ecp cameras time you going in to their car park and then coming back out again. Those cameras do not know that you have gone to the pub car park. So you could get a fine because you've not paid ECP who seems to assume your parking on their car park. Not the matchstick man car park free to its customers. If you do get fined go back to the pub and they will quash the fine for you. As long as you were parked as one of their customers.

I really liked the fish and chips, very nice and comfortable place.

Fab place great atmosphere and fab staff. Food was amazing, curry night and a pint on a wed for £8 absolutely a no brainer.
