MÁS Mexicana in Dundee City

Visited Más Mexicana for the first time, and was pleasantly surprised with the food. It is a small restaurant with seating for between approximately twenty to thirty people. It's tapas style, and all the different dishes we selected were of good quality. With these dishes what you select comes in the order that they are ready. Not a problem as such, as it tells you this on the menu. The problem we had was, as the restaurant is small and the tables reflect this, sitting four at a table, trying to move the dishes around to accommodate them all, interrupted the eating enjoyment. Whilst the food was tasty individually, they overall flavours seemed to blend in with one another. The prices were on the slightly high side for the food that was served. £2.00 for adding what seemed like one slice of chopped Chorizo to a meal, Mmn? £2.85 for a can of Coca Cola! Huge mark-up. Service was decent, but after waiting ten minutes for a straw, we had to go and get one ourselves. As it was 'busy', we were limited to two hours eating time. This was communicated during the meal, which although not perfect, was understandable. We finished our drinks standing near the bar. Would we go back? We'd like to, but the table size was off-putting, and will probably sway us into saying no.

I booked this restaurant for my partner's birthday and it did not disappoint. The decor is bright and colourful, the staff were enthusiastic and the food was delicious. There is a vegan menu and a regular menu, so there were plenty of options. My partner had 2 dishes - Baja Fish Taco ( 2 x tacos) and the Queso Fundito which is served like a liquid cheese dip with nachos. I ordered vegan nachos (vegan cheese, salsa and guacamole) and the vegan aubergine quesadala. We also ordered a side of jalapeno slaw. Everything was fresh and well presented. We both had enough to eat for the equivalent of a "main" savoury course, but the menu is tapas style, so you can pick and mix or share plates. We felt that we had the right amount of food this way. That also meant that we had space to try to churros - available as a vegan option with ice cream substitute and dark chocolate sauce, and my partner had the churros with ice cream and a toffee sauce. The food was delicious and the staff even gave me a candle to put on my partner's churros as a birthday surprise, which was a nice touch! Many thanks, would highly recommend.

Amazing food and drink. We all ordered something off the menu and had it come to the table and ate tapas style. Was a great way to sample a lot of the menu. Cocktails were amazing… frozen margaritas hit the spot and pack a punch in a good way. Plus the slush comes in handy on some of the more spicier dishes.

Visited for Taco Tuesday and can’t fault the food or service. Great job and look forward to visiting again. Coconut Prawn tacos were amazing and well worth the money. 👍

Excellent service Lucy and Euan our waiter and waitress full of smiles and when asked what they would eat he said I ordered and was not disappointed 😋 Two chicken tingia One beef birria 2 x queso fundido Fish taco All dishes full of flavour tasty as well presented and fast out from the kitchen The fundido was just awesome great for sharing and a good thing to have when sharing food this place is a must. Churios were great too loads of taste and not too oily or floury just right and big portion too. This is a wee hidden gem in Dundee must visit if you find it 🤪 We will be back thank you mas 😁

Inattentive and slow service, ingredients missing from order and below average food. The desserts were the only positive.

My wife and I had decided to go out for a few drinks and thought we would include dinner. We booked a table at Mas and I have to admit to being a bit sceptical but I couldn't have been more wrong. On entry we were immediately shown to our table in what is quite a small and cosy venue. A couple of drinks and our food arrived quickly consisting of tacos, spicy potato wedges, spicy chicken wings and tortilla chips with a trio of salsa. Our tacos were the chili and lime chicken and the baja fish ones whcih were full of flavour. Every course was excellent and full of flavour and was thoroughly enjoyed by both of us. My wife then had the churros which were similarly delicious. All in all a fantastic meal and will definitely return there for more. Thank you to the staff for an excellent experience.

Food is great here, although a little lacking on beer options I found, plus nothing on draft. Small but nice and cosy. Staff were attentive and very pleasant, and were happy to make my 6yr old daughter something plain to keep her happy. We'll happily return again in the future.

Lovely meal here with my girlfriend. Polite bar staff, quick service and most of all delicious food. It’s small plates which is a blessing as you will want to try it all!

Not disappointed by our first visit to this great little restaurant, very reasonably priced allowing choice of several smaller dishes, good vegan options too. Particularly enjoyed the Baja fish tacos followed by yet more tacos (apple pie tacos and ice cream). My companions also rated the lime and garlic chicken tacos and pork and apple tacos. Good cocktail selection although on this occasion stuck to a few cool Coronas and Sols. Will be back.

Thoroughly enjoyed our food here. Probably the best Mexican we have had in UK. Has a studenty feel but then it's just up from the Uni. Is not expensive and geared to smaller but several dishes. Caters for all. Good churros too.

Proper authentic Mexican restaurant. Amazing food, fast service, great flavour and staff were superb. If you’re looking for an authentic Mexican place that does real Mexican food and drink then I’d highly recommend. Best Mexican I’ve even had.

The Coronaritas are so nice and cool to look at! Staff were really friendly and gave good service. The refried beans are a bit bland.

Having visited MAS a handful of times, I enjoy the selection of food and the informal tapas like style of dining they offer. The menu has varied slightly each time I have visited but the main bulk of it is similar - this is not a bad thing because it is ultimately quite good. For example the menu you show online is different to in the restaurant. The staff are always lovely, attentive and efficient who do their job well. As I mentioned, the food is good and the menu is similar every time. However, it would be good for them to add something like a make your own section and maybe the opportunity to create a full 'meal' version of any particular menu item of someone's fancy. Or focus on a set amount of their staple dishes that sell well and then have a number of weekly or monthly different dishes. This is purely a suggestion as I still really enjoy visiting MAS. On a minor side note and it may just be me, but please add more seasoning to the majority of the tacos, tostadas and quesadillas, around about the potatoes you currently have on the menu may be a good benchmark. The sauces you have on the table are nice accompaniments, it would be good for more dipping/side sauces to be featured on the menu.

The pecan dip was very good in the trio of salsa with the chips. The jalõpeno jam in the halloumi tacos was amazing. Very nice waitress served us. The birria birria tacos were a highway, I want to ride them all night long.

Brilliant place for a sociable meal. Food is packed full of flavour and gloriously undignified to eat (accept as many napkins as you can) but in the best possible way. Beer battered prawn tacos are beautiful and they do the best margarita in town.
