Mexican Grill in Dundee City

I am leaving this review as supportive criticism. I love the Mexican grill and have never had issues before with other meals I've ordered in the past. The staff are also really lovely people. Mexican grills' food is usually absolutely amazing; however, we ordered chicken fajitas and the chicken was so tasteless, a little spicy but completely bland. We couldn't smell or taste any cumin whatsoever (in my opinion, cumin is the main scent/flavour to chicken fajitas) the cheese was also mozzarella which is confusing (as mozzarella is Italian) and totally disappointing as mozzerella is tasteless also. Also the portion of condiments, i.e. salsa, lettuce (with about 2 strands of carrot?), cheese, soured cream, and avocado (not guacamole), were VERY small. Definitely need more salad and cheese. Salsa, soured cream and avocado was okay portion size. So please make slight changes to your chicken fajitas, add cumin to the chicken seasoning and replace the mozzerella cheese with strong cheddar. Here is a helpful seasoning mix for the best chicken fajitas which will keep customers coming back for more! <3: •Chilli powder •Cumin •Garlic powder •Paprika •Dried oregano •Salt and Pepper. Fantastic spot for a meal! I stopped in for a quick bite and ended up really enjoying the warm, authentic atmosphere. The food was absolutely delicious, and even with a full house, it arrived surprisingly fast.

Excellent food in a small cosy restaurant staffed by friendly and efficient staff , I had the Fajita Suprema and the gf had the Prawn enchiladas Mole Poblano , both superb flavour wise and it was washed down with some cerveza and cocktails , a great place for an informal meal

On first turning up I nearly walked away, looked a bit like a take away from small frontage. I am saying this so you don’t make the mistake we nearly made. This place is fantastic.atmosphere, food , staff, everything 10/10. Loved it. Many thanks did I say the food was unreal

Are here while visiting Dundee for an overnight, now wishing I stayed closer as this is a great Mexican restaurant. Lots of choice in the menu and a little more choice than the usual offerings. Sharing Nachos was huge 2 people and our dinner portions were really generous. Tasty fresh made food, best guacamole I have tasted, service friendly and attentive and a cocktail menu as a bonus. Now looking for reasons to visit again.

Excelente experiencia gastronómica en este restaurante peculiar pero encantador. Han hecho un gran esfuerzo para crear un ambiente mexicano auténtico con sombreros por todas partes y banderines mexicanos también los cactus extraños o dos. El personal era muy acogedor en cuanto entraste y se mantuvo así durante todo el tiempo. Atento sin ser intrusivo. La elección de alimentos fue extensa sin ser abrumadora. Tanto a mi esposa como a mí nos encantó cada plato que pedimos, pieles de papa cargadas de chile, fajitas de pollo, alitas de pollo picante y pastel de dulce de chocolate doble para compartir. Porciones adecuadas para que te sientas bien alimentado sin sentirte hinchado, bien presentado también y atractivo en el plato. Sin duda recomendaría este restaurante y sin duda volveremos.

Early evening visit Good food friendly staff Good drinks options

Came here on a Monday evening and were happy we did. Not too much choice for us vegetarians. Most of the vegetarian options consisted of spinach. Would be better with a vegan protein of some sort. That aside the food and service was very good.

The enchiladas were not great. Swimming in sauce which was bland and had little taste. The fajitas were good and the chicken was tasty. Not sure if I would order again tbh.

Just ordered for delivery, have ordered a few times before. Food is always good and happy to accomodate no cheese for my partner. Service was on delivery was brilliant. The gentleman who delivered the food remembered that after the last time we have a little one up stairs sleeping and called instead of knocking! Actually really sweet.

Speaking as someone who grew up eating Mexican food, Mexican Grill was a huge treat - the enchiladas, the carne asada, the frijoles refritos, all tasting of home. The margarita was excellent, and served in a salt-rimmed glass - and they even have Jarritos cola and mandarin soda! The service could not have been better. Highly, highly recommend!

Dreadful processed food. Not Authentic in the slightest. Weird synthetic tasting Margarita and flat soft drinks. Food was hot but sauce tasted as if it was from a jar. Beef was tough.

2 course meal for two people, great service and fantastic food. Excellent value for money. Strawberry Daiquiri was delicious!

Absolutely shocking service. Ordered for collection at 6pm and supposed to collect at 6.25pm. Eventually get my order at 7pm (it's the same every time we've ordered) and when I get home it's the wrong order. Call them at 7.15 and after not wanting to refund or £42 order they agree to deliver the correct order asap (3 miles away). 90 minutes later still no food and they've taken their phone off the hook. No matter how good the food is it's not worth this. Never ever again and I will be getting my money back no matter what

No me disculpo por revisar The MexicanGrill de nuevo. Ayer 2 fuimos a almorzar. Hace mucho los viernes y sábados para un almuerzo de 2 o 3 platos. La elección de entrantes y la red es fantástica. Teníamos rollos de primavera y alas Picante. Ambos vienen con hermosa ensalada fresca y dips. Las alas estaban hechas a la perfección. Carnoso y cayendo del hueso pero jugoso. Los rollos de primavera eran encantadores, crujientes y sabrosos. Para la alimentación fuimos por Fajitas de Carne y quesadillas de pollo. Las porciones son enormes. Todo estaba cocinado a la perfección. Múltiples salsas, salsas y más ensalada fresca. No pudimos terminar nuestra red y el restaurante estaba feliz de envolver nuestras sobras para llevar. ¡Me sorprende que alguien pueda manejar el desierto! Sé que la comida mexicana no es del gusto de todos. No hay problema. En el menú estaba Scampi, pescado y pastel de carne también. El personal es encantador. Ambiente cálido y acogedor. MUY RECOMENDABLE.

Yo y 3 miembros de la familia fuimos a la parrilla mexicana para la cena de Navidad a las 4. 00 Día de Navidad. El lugar estaba zumbando. El personal era brillante y la comida excepcional. Qué fantástica elección de cursos. Habíamos pedido por adelantado y el servicio era brillante! Nuestros servidores eran absolutamente fantástico! El restaurante en sí era muy festivo y el ambiente cálido y acogedor. De la elección de 4 entrantes mi fiesta tuvo 2 ensaladas de pollo ahumado y frutas, y 2 cócteles de gambas. Fresco y delicioso. Para la alimentación elegimos 1 Cena de Navidad tradicional con todos los adornos y 3 filetes con una hermosa salsa de pimiento sabrosa que nuevamente vino con montañas de hermosas papas asadas y una fabulosa variedad de verduras frescas y picantes perfectamente cocinadas. No es broma. La verdura incluía germinados (naturalmente) de coliflor, zanahorias y brócoli. El Asado de Turquía fue excepcional. Tierno, sabroso y abundante. Rico salsa y delicioso relleno. Los postres que elegimos fueron Pudín Tradicional de Navidad con Salsa de Brandy y la magnífica Tarta de Queso de Arándano. Las bebidas del bar se sirvieron rápidamente y eran realmente excelentes precios. De hecho, el precio del menú de Navidad era increíble relación calidad-precio. No puedo recomendar The Mexican Grill lo suficiente. Y no solo por Navidad. Este lugar tiene una hermosa comida y un gran servicio durante todo el año. También entregan. Gracias a todos por ayudar a hacer nuestro día de Navidad especial con su trabajo duro. Realmente disfrutamos y apreciamos nuestra visita. 🥰🥰

Haven't been to Mexican Grill this year, but needless to say ...a lovely welcome from Haven't and new staff members who were attentive and friendly.Compliments to Chef on stuffed jalapeños and delicious steak pie, meat was ' melt in the mouth' per usual. ¡Joya escondida! Servicio excelente, vino pedido y vienen con agua para la mesa también sin tener que pedir, camareros muy bien presentados y cortés. Buen espacio entre el entrante y el ambiente principal, muy relajado. Estándar de la comida y la selección extremadamente buena. Fui con un vale de regalo y sin duda volveremos sin uno. También hacer comida para llevar y entrega a domicilio. . . no sabía, bueno saber ☺

Food in here is suberb and I got my child into them at young age by asking the chef to make salsa milld and now she eats all sort our favourite is usually chicken fajita but tonight I have prawn bobo which was excellent. Very tasty sauce 😋 my kid love it here. May go for Xmas. Reasonable priced x always good been here for about 6 years. Prices are well good and could share meal with extra pitta breads I do. With my kid. Really good value money

Found by accident, and couldn’t be happier! Mexican food with amazing taste. Reasonable price, for great quality food, cleary prepared fresh that day. Service was above and beyond all expectations. We went back two nights in a row (passing through town as we travel Scotland) just to enjoy another night of amazing (and I mean AMAZING) margaritas, food and customer service. Strongly recommend.

If you are looking for an authentic mexican meal, with exceptional service this restaurant is a must visit! The strawberry margarita is dangerously good. From salad, salsa and chips to fajita the ingredients are fresh and evidently prepared daily. Staff will go out of their way to make you feel welcomed and like family.

Place was empty (visited on Sunday eve), 2 tables busy, but one left after few minutes and then another couple arrived after us. Place is dark, not enough lighting. Servis is OK, food is bad, oversalted and didn't look appetising. I could have bought make-at-home kit from any supermarket and make it taste 100 times better. Took about 30-40 min to bring main after we finished the starter, even though place was dead quite. Wouldn't come back or recommend. No idea how they have 4.3 stara here, maximum 2.3 stars

Visitamos Mexican Grill anoche, y tuvimos un tiempo brillante. Éramos las únicas personas en el restaurante (¡no entendemos por qué con comida tan increíble en oferta! ) pero no nos sentimos incómodos en absoluto, ya que la música y decoración fabulosas hacían un ambiente brillante. Optamos por el menú “pre-teatro”, y teníamos una jarra de margarita congelada junto. Todo estaba increíblemente delicioso. Tengo cuidado de que la comida sea demasiado picante, pero era perfectamente sabrosa sin demasiada calor (quesadilla de pollo). Gracias por una comida tan encantadora. ¡No te pierdas esta joya en tu viaje a Dundee!

Mexican Grill is such a lovely and tranquil place! I would highly recommend going for a meal the food is AMAZING. It's reasonably priced, the staff are extremely friendly and helpful. Oh and they sell amazing cocktails 🍸 😉

I have been dining at the Mexican Grill for at least 12 years. The food is delicious and well cooked. The staff are second to none. Very polite, know their menu and drinks, of which they are very helpful. I visit for Business lunches as well as personal night time dining. If you are new to Mexican food the staff will help with your order. I cannot recommend this restaurant enough! Thanks to all the staff and their chefs.

After a good day of cycling, I was delighted by the Nacho supreme + chicken piri piri burrito, and a few beers. The staff was very nice.

Food: awful, to the point of humorous. We had a good laugh at the food’s expense. Service: super nice and quick staff, a shame they are serving such slop. Atmosphere: we arrived in Dundee on a Friday night, with no reservations anywhere, so we ended up in this place… like a lot of the other customers, I think. Atmosphere would be good except for the literal atmosphere: they were serving a sizzling “fajitas” (it wasn’t) dish that filled the air with vaporized grease. It was actually hard to breathe when we left. We had a good time and laughed a lot because it was so ridiculous.

I used to get a takeaway every week and thought it was so tasty and reasonably priced. I told everyone about it. I have started to notice it was getting more and more spicy and dry especially the chicken wings as a starter and like they are like they had been sitting for weeks. The main course of ranchera enchiladas is worse it’s now at the point I can’t eat it and that’s with two pots of sour cream. We had dinner at this friendly Mexican restaurant and found it to be very cosy, colourful fun decor, and really tasty food. The Chicken Fajitas were sizzling and fresh,lovely soft tortillas and served with Guacamole, sour cream and rice. My husband thoroughly enjoyed his Chicken Stir fry and main course of Chimichangas. Friendly staff too. Will definitely return when next in Dundee.

Brilliant value two course lunch menu and drinks. Visited with some friends, we came to the V&A from Glasgow and wanted a late lunch after. The restaurant had friendly staff and cheery Mexican ambience. We had a laugh trying on the sombreros! There was no intrusive loud background music you have to shout over either which was a bonus. The food was piping hot, sizzling on platters, and delicious. Just would have liked more ice cream flavour options, maybe Mexican themed! We would definitely return if I was in Dundee and have already recommended it to friends.
