Loco Rita in Dundee City

My favourite place to eat out in Dundee. We've been there many times and it's always good. Last night we ordered 6 dishes from the menu and each was delicious and distinct. Sometimes with Mexican places the items can become variations on a theme, but each of those we ate at Loco Rita's were different and tasty. I'm vegetarian (rather than vegan), but I don't notice or miss the lack of dairy eating here. We've always been served quickly and pleasantly and the food arrives without a long wait. I can't recommend it enough!

Great food that just happens to be vegan. Corn ribs are a must. Frozen margarita is excellent.

Third visit here. Excellent service and food as always. Will be back xx

We had an Itison voucher that came with a selection of 5 dishes of our choice and 2 frozen margaritas. We picked x2 beefburger tacos, quesadillas, dirty mac & cheese, and nachos. All of them were very tasteful, portions big enough to feed two people. Frozen margaritas were great, you could tell there was a lot of alcohol in them. The waitress was attentive and friendly. We didn't wait long for the meals to arrive. The restaurant had a nice atmosphere. Overall, we had a great time and we'll definitely be back.

The food is great, no need to be vegan to enjoy it, the place has great decoration, it's not too loud.

this place is really nice, and welcoming, but the portion sizes were really disappointing. given the quesadilla is 7 pounds, it was pretty much empty. not really sure what I paid for there.. the cauliflower wings were really good.

Love this place! Have been several times now and everything has been delicious. Even my fussy kids love it. Can’t wait for my next visit 😍

Worth the walk out of the town centre. Excellent food cooked fresh to order. Shame we couldn’t sample the dirty mac n cheese or seitan fries. 😪 Fast service too.

Went in when it was quiet. Told to sit anywhere, picked a table was then never given to cutlery or napkins. Had to take them from another table. Nobody checked in on us while we had the food. Service was extremely minimal. Just a quick table order and that was truly it. The food was mid have had better vegan food. Was very pricey for what was given. Could tell what parts weren’t fresh. Wouldn’t have said it was at all bad. Just wasn’t good. All in all very mid x

God I wish I was local so I could go here all the time. Great food, atmosphere, and lovely staff. The chimichurri is very tasty, I recommend the cauli wings.

Absolutely a first choice for vegaterians and vegans. The entire menu is vegan and almost all dishes can be made gluten free.

Everything was lovely here, the staff were very friendly and helpful, food was great, service was spot on

I’m a vegetarian and visited with my pescatarian boyfriend last night . We were greeted by a friendly waitress and seated . Drinks order was taken quickly only complaint was there was no flavoured margaritas available I had a shaken margarita and bf had a frozen one they were delicious. The menu all sounded so good we ordered 6 dishes in total which we agreed was too much as we couldn’t finish them all but they were all so tasty and flavourful. We managed to squeeze in a churros to share which again was delicious. First time we’ve been to a vegan restaurant and will definitely be back . £90 for the 6 dishes 5 margaritas and churros was definitely worth it . My only complaint was the restaurant was really cold as it was an unusually cold October evening and made me quite uncomfortable but I’ll be mindful of this when I come back and wear more clothes . Thanks for an enjoyable date night we plan to come back with some meat eating friends and see if they can tell the difference

First experience of vegan Mexican food, they provide so many options which was quite exciting to choose from. Lovely place for sharing plates and having a nice meal with mates.

Amazing food. Fully vegan and delicious. You won't be disappointed. The cauliflower is a firm favourite.

Excellent food, very tasty considering it is vegan and in some cases also gluten-free. Nice atmosphere, sustainable and eclectic interiors. We highly recommend the quesadilla with haggis, the green Sauce is so fresh and tasty! Also the jerk carrots and sweet potatoes tacos, absolutely excellent. Loved the passion fruit frozen margarita with a good amount of tequila and the rim of paprika salt, delicious and well priced at £6:75

Thoroughly enjoyed our lunch sharing a selection of different dishes. Would definitely recommend. Staff were friendly and welcoming.

Go if you’re wanting a tasteless munch , the portions are not suitable at all very little stuffing & the max & cheese is just pasta with a tomato sauce. The drinks menu is very absent aswell. Going to have to go to a second place for food now as we are not pleased 5 of us are thinking the same. Will not be back

I went here because of the 4.7 but I'm surprised the score is that high. Sure the food was fine but the portions are really small and you still have to pay quite a bit. I also forgot to ask for the food without cilantro so everything tasted like soap. I wish restaurants would ask customers whether they want cilantro or not because to half the population it tastes awful :/

This is a little gem of a place drinks are soooo good and the food it's great definitely worth a visit

We sought this place out when visiting Dundee and it did not disappoint. They recommend 2-3 dishes per person, which is a very hard choice because everything sounds delicious. We opted for the cheeseburger tacos, sweet potato tacos, patas bravas, and quesidilasa, and they were all really yummy. They also had soft serve ice-cream, so I had a sesame seed and caramel sundae - as someone who doesn't love ice-cream often, I'm so glad I did! Service was friendly, extremely efficient and quick, and the final bill was very reasonable.

This was my first visit here and have already planned a return visit. The food is soo tasty, lovely presentation and generous portion size. Just delicious. Reasonable prices and great service too.

Amazing vegan food with super spicy hot sauce and reasonably priced delicious frozen margaritas. Because we were seated we had to go and ask for our order te be taken because the server wasn't there most of the time. Besides that, amazing. Definitely recommend the Cheeseburger taco and Patatas Bravas!

Best vegan food. No better food anywhere further north from here.

Food was fab. Ordered 5 plates between 2 and struggled to finish. Portions are a good size.

I couldn’t fault this place, I have been numerous times and the food is so fresh and lovely it’s one of the best places I have ever been too. You hardly get freshly prepared food like this anymore. If you haven’t been , don't miss out, just go! Vegan or not

Had lunch using an ITISON voucher it was an excellent experience, some places nearby could learn lessons from Loco Ritas Two mature ladies neither of us vegan nor vegetarian had a very pleasant catch up lunch, food was delicious, flavoursome, beautifully presented, plentiful and no sense of missing meat, atmosphere relaxed, service great. We are already planning a return visit and hoping to convert our partners to a meat free lunch Thank You

Went here with hubby for my birthday in May. This place is AWESOME! The food was soooo good and the ice cream? OMGGG! Can't wait to go back again, wish we lived closer!

Went for the first time and so impressed. Neither of us are vegan but the food was amazing, so tasty great variety. The service was quick and unobtrusive, and the music was great. Can't wait to have an excuse to come back. The corn ribs especially were incredible!

Great value when it comes down to it and all vegan so no worries. Highly recommend trying the cheeseburger taco and the hot sauces on offer. Solid grub with some interesting flavours. I’ve been lots of times! There’s something for everyone and they are really careful with gluten free stuff not to cross contaminate. My only thing would be that it’s got darker/neon lighting as an evening diner but I wish it was bright and airy so I could go for lunches too !

Visited last night with my cousin and mum. Food was amazing and service from our lovely Irish waitress was amazing. Thank you for making our family catch up so relaxing and happy. First time here but won’t be the last 🇲🇽

Nice intro to vegan food. Far tastier than imagined. Cheeseburger tacos do not resemble cheeseburgers in any way! 😀

We went as a family of four. Only one of us is vegan. Couldn't fault the menu choice or the attentive staff. Lovely, clean and bright surroundings. The food was incredibly good!! Super fresh, delicious, vibrant and satisfying. Can't wait to go again!!

My partner and I visited on the weekend and loved the place! Full vegan menu with great food, good drinks and a welcome atmosphere. It was laidback inside, very reasonably priced.

Absolutely phenomenal Mexican food. The food was so tasty and fresh. Absolutely great service as well. Dundee is very lucky to have this place.

Never disappointed when eating here. Service is always exceptional and quick. Also a wonderful selection of drinks to accompany a meal.

Doesn't matter if you're not vegan, the food here is amazing. So tasty, half price tacos on tuesday. We've been a couple of times and as people who are vegetarian it's so refreshing to be able to pick literally anything on the menu, so we've literally eaten every item on the menu. Highly recommend the "Shrimpz" tacos. Can't rate this highly enough, friendly staff, outstanding food, great atmosphere, reasonable pricing👍

Went last night to use an Itison voucher we received at Xmas. My partner was not best pleased when I mentioned it was 100% vegan but was pleasantly surprised by how lovely the meal was. The voucher entitled us to 2 drinks, 2 starters, cauliflower wings, 2 tacos AND Churros for dessert. The food was homely and fresh with plenty Mexican flavour. The young Irish girl serving us ( didn't catch her name) was really lovely and friendly. All in all a lovely evening and Vegan or not we will definitely be back x PS pics are taken after starting eating the courses as kept forgetting to take them at the start coz food looked so good!!

The restaurant has a nice vibe and varied options for vegans and vegetarians. Mexican delicacies are served. Mention your spice tolerance beforehand as some options are quite spicy. Overall great service by staff, nice ambience and good food.

Fantastic independent venue, creative and flavourful food with new drink and food offerings almost monthly Staff attentive and knowledgeable, interior is Fantastic including a bar and table top made of of recycled materials.

Picked to eat at Locos before a gig at Fat Sam's glad I did, food was amazing all great tastes and a really nice menu choice, service was really quick and efficient would highly recommend

I love this place. I mean I LOVE this place. The food is next level delicious and hands down my favourite restaurant in Dundee. The food is fresh, packed with flavour but they also have hot sauces that make my mouth water just thinking about it. Everything on the menu is so tasty. The staff have always been top notch and so friendly, kind and chatty. Also I’m not vegan either but do my best, no need for animal products here though, the food is exquisite

Called in for one of their famous frozen cocktails, delicious! Also tried the churros, chocolate sauce and ice cream, all vegan of course. The staff are super friendly and the atmosphere is so cheery in these hard times. Give it a go!

Amazing food, great atmosphere and helpful, friendly staff. If, like me, coriander tastes like soap, please make staff aware beforehand as it goes on everything! But the food is still lovely, I should of made them aware.

What a treat to eat at a fully vegan restaurant. We are both vegan and we dined here one evening on a recent stay in Dundee. Great choice of dishes including tacos and spicy cauliflower wings. We ordered three dishes each to share but I think two dishes would have been enough! We were too full for dessert but they do have vegan soft serve ice cream. Well worth a visit whether you are vegan, vegetarian or neither. Delicious food and friendly staff.

Huge portions, was with people who loved spice snd it was still quite spicy for them, super good prices for portions and the fact it's all vegan. Staff were super friendly and informative

Went a week or so ago and the food was so full of flavour and the staff were lovely. I have to recommend the elote ribs and the quesadillas in particular, but everything we ordered was delicious which included vegan chicken tacos and jackfruit tacos (the jackfruit tacos with pomegranate were really amazing), wings and fully loaded nachos. Can't recommend this place enough, and even better when you know everything on the menu is 100% vegan. The staff were also kind enough to make a kid friendly order of quesadillas for our 2 year old which he really enjoyed. Five stars.

As a vegan I'm not used to so much choice. Loved it ,lovely food, lovely staff. Only thing was we were on a table away from main restaurant,felt a bit out of it . But I did book late . 5 stars all round 😍

We had a fantastic dinner at this place. You choose 2 to 3 small dishes each and you can share (quite easily between two people at least). Everything was lovely and very quickly served. They even have vegan churros and they do not disappoint! They had very friendly and helpful staff.

Booked a table for 3:45pm and when we turned up we were told they were closing at 4pm and were turned away.

This place really is as good as it's reviews. The staff are super friendly. The food is fantastic. We only had one vegan in our party, and all of us enjoyed our meal as much as he did. The cocktails looked amazing too.

Wonderfully kind and happy service. I'd always go back there. Especially when you're in a group you'll be having a good time sharing the food. It's all so good so you have to try everything! Can't recommend it enough.

Delicious food and good selection. Music was a bit too loud and the modern art looks messy and didn't complement the atmosphere. Great servers; hot food, cold cocktails and mocktails.

Service and food excellent with lovely staff (who were more than gracious because one of our party was a little too tipsy). Fab experience 😊
