Rancho Pancho in Dundee City

Excellent restaurant. Ate there on two consecutive nights, while on short trip to Dundee to visit auntie in hospital. The best nachos we’ve had anywhere. Waiting staff absolutely lovely. Unfortunately, the night before we returned to Manchester, we left a water bottle there in a carrier (an invaluable thing we loved, which we bought in Costa Rica). Kyle Maddox went to the trouble of packing and sending it to us, at his own expense, from his local post office. He didn’t want re-imbursing and sent several emails to check on its progress. Absolutely above and beyond. We are so grateful to Kyle.

Staff are amazing. The manager especially. Really top notch. Food lush. Nice buzz. Well worth the visit.

Fast friendly service and delicious food!

My hubby and I had a delicious meal at Rancho Panchos. We were running late due to traffic and were worried we'd lose our table but when we phoned the staff member reassured us we had our table until 6.30pm and they would rush our food for us when we got there. We finally got there at 5.30pm, table was booked for 5pm. I had a raspberry margarita which was very good. We ordered our food and it was with us very quickly. I had 2 starters as my main course, the loaded potato skins and nachos. My hubby had the fajitas combo and he ended up helping me with the nachos as I was so full. All the food was well cooked & delicious. Staff were excellent. We loved all the day of the dead themed artwork in the restaurant. We'll definitely be booking here again! Tip: Make sure you pre-book. The restaurant was fully booked when we went.

Mi esposa y yo fuimos aquí por fajitas, y ambos las disfrutamos mucho. La comida era muy sabrosa, con amplias porciones a un buen precio. El servicio fue eficiente y amable. El pastel de dulce travieso era muy sabroso, también. Definitivamente volveremos una vez que nos hayamos enfriado un poco (de la comida picante y caliente)!

Visitamos el restaurante 13/10. La comida y el servicio era brillante. Me encanta la decoración. Bonito ambiente. Nos atendió un joven encantador, piense su nombre con Jonny, era su primer turno, era muy educado y servicial, servicio con una sonrisa. En general, una gran experiencia.

Nachos and Enchiladas were amazing.

Tuvimos una brillante cena de cumpleaños en Rancho Pancho durante nuestro reciente viaje a Dundee. Los nachos y mozzarella dippers eran encantadores y nuestra red principal era tan sabrosa! Había una gran selección de verduras. Las margaritas eran tan deliciosas, pero lo que lo hizo para nosotros fue el ambiente acogedor encantador y el personal fantástico! El personal era muy amable y no podía hacer lo suficiente para usted. ¡Volveremos!

Great atmosphere, and service. The food was also very tasty although we didn't like a lot the desert, 'churros'. This ofc might have been due to personal preferences. Also, we think that the big menus were not very handy. The cocktails needed a bit more alcohol (again personal preference). Everything else was excellent!

Pros: good location within walking distance of accommodations and nearby attractions. Quick online reservation service and phone service. Professional and friendly/welcoming young staff with big smiles and attentive manners. The staff also were good at guiding customers about menu items and advising for portions sizes based on party size. The food was tasteful, piping hot, big portions, well priced for this time of the economy, it was scotlands take on "tex mex" . It isn't tex-mex nor Mexican food, but for scotland it is not bad. They bring you a water jug and glasses at the beginning of your stay which is hard to come by at most places, you have delicious scottish tap water on refill the whole time don't have to ask. Cons: limited opening times, small seating space although pleasantly arranged, can't guarantee to get seats if you don't reserve, the alcoholic drinks we ordered were prepared nicely and presented well- the flavors were well balanced but the alcohol content seemed low for the price. Great experience overall, family friendly, wheelchair accessible. Bathrooms.

Friendly efficient staff, groovy decor, nice vibe and great food. Would go back again next time we're nearby. They squeezed us in, best to book.

I liked the food and staff were very friendly! They helped us veganize the vegetarian meals. And margaritas were delicious. The only issue I had is that the music was a little loud.

Visité este restaurante mientras asistíamos a un concierto. El restaurante estaba ocupado a la llegada y nos mostraron a nuestra mesa, pedido de bebidas tomadas luego entrantes y platos principales. Esperamos 35 minutos sin arrancar, había otros llegando después de nosotros, así que lo comprobé con el personal. ¡Habían perdido el cheque! El starter finalmente llegó y fue comped y nuestro tiempo de asignación de mesa se extendió debido a nuestra espera. Una bebida gratis también habría sido bueno ya que esperamos un tiempo. Después de este primer blip el resto de la noche fue genial, la comida fue excepcional y perfecta. Volveremos y merece la pena una visita.

Dropped in last night on our first visit to Dundee good job we booked it was full. Very small but not cramped. Friendly staff very clean and tidy restaurant. Food was excellent enough of it and not too expensive. If you’re looking for an authentic Mexican with a good atmosphere and nice food look no further you won’t be disappointed.

An exceptional dinner tonight - recommend both the Michoacán Steak and the Albondigas specials.

Made to feel very embarrassed when our bank notes were refused, boss called twice but still refused. We are from Belfast a city in the UK!!!!! Amazing the lack of knowledge from a customer based business. The notes clearly stated "Stirling" on them, very embarrassing for staff also. With the advantages of Internet/Goggle search there is no reason for your customers to be embarrassed like this in front of the whole restaurant. Won't be back.

We loved our visit here, and despite us turning up late one evening without a reservation , they couldn't have looked after us more. All the young talented staff were brilliant and their recommendations and the food itself was superb. Probably the best Mexican we've had and we're well travelled old gits, so it was quite a pleasant surprise. The nancho sharer was devoired before I could get a photo, so you'll have to trust on how nice it was. The chicken Fajitas arrive sizzling on a skillet and couldn't have been tastier. The skillet keeps it all so hot to the end, which made us think, "Why don't all restaurants do this?". Will definitely return when next time we're close......

Lovely wee restaurant, amazing food

We have come to this restaurant maybe 5 times in the past few years. 1 - food quality/taste/display is consistent every time. 2 - Best enchiladas I have ever had. May not be an expert but I like my food and highly recommend you try these. 3 - Pricing seems decent. IMO it's quite cheap for the quality of food your getting. Will pop in next time I'm flying by Dundee. Thanks guys!

Ordered the Picadillo as it didn't mention any cheese on the menu, only to have it come out with cheese mixed through the chilli. Very disappointed. Can't trust the menu so I won't be back, clearly these have been changed in the kitchen, not for the better imo.

Really great Mexican restaurant, possibly the best I have ever had! Service was quick and friendly, food was outstanding and full of flavour and the price wasn’t expensive either. Will definitely be back - one of my favourite places to go now!

Staying in a nearby hotel we decided to have a stroll and noticed that this restaurant was packed which in our experience is a very good sign. We managed to get a table booking 30mins in advance and were delighted that we did. The hard worked staff were friendly and attentive and the food was delicious and beautifully presented. The portion size were on the large side, that’s not a complaint, merely an observation! A ‘must visit’ for great food if you’re in Dundee

Really good food and staff were all great and handled delaying our booking by an hour in a way that we all remained very happy. That mix up was handled so well by them. Food is of a high standard and I am not a particular fan of Mexican food. Definitely will be back.

I love Rancho Pancho and have been going for many years. I was thrilled with the virgin mojito and the atmosphere and service for a lunchtime (never been at lunchtime before). The food was a bit lack lustre and definitely more Tex-Mex than the proper Mexican food I used to enjoy here but I'd still go again - if only for the mojito and tequila bottles filled with water! Would love more gluten -free options and soft tacos.

Food was below average. Quality was poor but prices were hugely inflated. The food was obviously cheap and frozen - no cooking went on there. I had a mocktail and it was tasteless and full of ice. The most annoying thing was that we booked a table in advance, and after we finished our meal we ordered a cocktail in lieu of dessert, and 5 minutes after it was brought to the table we were informed we would have to leave as they needed the table. Pathetic service, rubbish food and all in all a complete rip off. £35 for a main course and two soft drinks. Terrible. Won't ever return.

I called last minute on Saturday night to request a table and the host was so accommodating despite the fact that the restaurant was packed and very close to the kitchen closing. We had frozen cocktails that were so tasty and served very quickly. Followed by amazing food! I had the prawn fajita and the portion was generous and so full of flavour. What really made the night for me was how personable and friendly the whole team were. They were smiling and attentive and seemed to be enjoying what they do, a rarity these days! I was entertaining visitors from Canada and could not have asked for a better experience. Thanks so much to all of the team for a great evening.

Fantastic food, fantastic service and fantastic staff! We shared the Chicken Stir Fry as a starter and it didn't disappoint, it was excellent. My Chicken Enchillada was as good as I have had however my partners Salmon & Prawn dish was awesome, the sauce it was served with really was something else!

Amazing food and cocktails at this busy little Mexican restaurant. We booked a table at peak time on Saturday night. Although it was very busy and staff were rushed of their feet, they were just so friendly and attentive and service was quick! I ordered chicken quesadillas which was delicious, and churros for dessert which were equally tasty. All in all, we were so impressed with Rancho Pancho. Amazing food in a great restaurant with a real buzz about it - what's not to love! Oh and mustn't forget the fabulous staff! We'll definitely be back. Well done!

I am never one to write a review but I cannot recommend this restaurant enough! We dined on Saturday evening as a party of 4. I nipped in the late afternoon to see if there was an availability for that evening. The gentleman at the door, Kyle, initially said they were fully booked but after speaking to his female colleague, Maya, we ended up getting a table at 7:45. Food was amazing. Extensive menu with a wide range of options catering to all our party. Spice level on the food was just right. Drinks were also great. Again with a wide selection. Frozen strawberry daiquiris as well! However what made our evening was the top level service we received. Maya and Kyle were fantastic. Went the extra mile to ensure we enjoyed our evening, even with the added bonus of singing happy birthday to my husband. And let’s not forgot to mention the atmosphere that they brought into the building. We will definitely be back when back in Dundee but will make sure to book!

Been a couple times now and food is always amazing! A little pricy, but you get a massive portion for what you pay for. Staff are always attentive too — good vibes all round!

Four of us visited on a Saturday lunchtime. We thoroughly enjoyed everything about Rancho Pancho - the dishes we tried were all good quality and were served in generous portions, the ambiance was great as the restaurant was packed and the service was A1. We are sure to return.

Fantastic food, fantastic service and fantastic portions.

Heard a lot about this place, so made the trip from Edinburgh up to Dundee to find out for myself. Was it good? Well, yes it was. Was it fabulous? Not sure. Arrived 5 minutes before opening and instead of being offered the drinks menu and our table, we were asked to go back out into the rain until the full compliment of staff arrived. 5 minutes early!! Once at our table, service was quick and satisfactory. Food was very good, it really was, traditional Mexican options to eat on your own or to share. But the menu did not offer anything that I had not seen before. Cost was a little more than I expected, but I had no problem handing over the cash as it had been a good experience over all.

We had a lovely meal and experience last night having never been before .We are not usually easily impressed but everything was exceptional well done .

If this had not been highly recommended by my daughter in law, who often visits the area, I would never have found this great place. Slightly out of the way and small, but very busy (need to book) we were delighted with all aspects. I honestly think it is the best Mexican I,ve had in UK! It is way beyond TexMex with authentic cooking. We hit the 'specials' and were not disappointed . Well heated (generous on the Jalapenos) and well balanced, my prawn dish was generous in prawns and thoroughly delicious. Good range of drinks including beers, wines and cocktails. Excellent, friendly service. Not dear.

What a fantastic find. We found the restaurant quickly filling up and the atmosphere was ambience made for a superb evening. The staff were exceptional, professional, friendly and polite. No frills food but everything was delicious! Jalapeño poppers were a personal favourite. The beef quesadillas were huge and the beef was really great quality. Fajitas were good and the desserts (toffee sundae and sticky toffee) were also a hit. Reasonably priced and good ambiance. Will definitely visit again when in Dundee.

I ate in this restaurant during the week when visiting Dundee for work with several colleagues and did so on the recommendation of the hotel where we were staying. The restaurant is small but mighty, there is a cool vibe to it and I am glad we booked because even in the dead of winter during the bleakest week in January, the place was still busy. The decor is quirky and in keeping with it being a Mexican eatery. We were met at the door by a friendly and efficient member of staff who sat us quickly, leaving us to peruse the menu. Drink orders were taken in a timeous manner and when ready to order our food we were asked if any member of our party had any dietary requirements or allergies. Good to note for those of you with food intolerances. I had margarita chicken which was delicious and well presented. Other members of the group had fajitas and I couldn’t help but feel a little jealous when I saw them as they looked incredible when they arrived. I am reliably informed that they tasted as good as they looked. Our server checked on us a couple of times to ensure our food was to our liking and that we didn’t run out of drink. The service was friendly and efficient. Just the right amount interaction and check backs. I’d absolutely eat at this restaurant again and would recommend to anyone visiting Dundee. In a city that often gets a hard time for its lack of places to eat out, look no further than this gem.

We arrived here at 5,30pm and were greeted warmly and so nicely. The restaurant was full even so early and the temperature was very cosy indeed. Service was impeccable as was all of our food (a party of 6) I had the stir fry to start and the Salmon to follow and all were sublime with wonderful presentation. To drink we all had a mix of cocktails and I had a beautiful strawberry mojito. We simply loved our visit here and it is great to see a restaurant doing so well and offering such a high quality of food and service. Simply brilliant.

Initially booked table online for 6pm got a phone call straight away to say they needed table back for 7 at latest, which we were fine about as taking a baby with us. We never usually take long with dinner but for the waitress keep coming over and asking if we had finished yet was unnecessary. Food was ok. Went rant about it to anyone. Quesadilla was the best part rice and chips bland. Price was probs the best part felt it was reasonably priced. Wouldn’t recommend for anyone to take kids with them. Felt like having our daughter there was an inconvenience to them. Staff lacked people skills completely!

Went here with family, we all ordered different items off of the menu yet all had very similar tasting sauces in our dishes. Overall the menu isn't very comprehensive, which is reasonable however it would be nice to see some more traditional and interesting dishes. Music was very mis matched to the decor. The staff were very friendly and attentive, overall a lovely meal would go again, just wish there was more variety.

Love this place. Food has never let us down. Service is spot on. The only let down, and it's only a small one, is it was a bit on the chilly side. Heating could have been a little bit warmer. Would recommend this restaurant.

Amazing food, great cocktails and great service as usual. We were a table of 12 for a 21st birthday celebration, and we had an excellent time. I can't find fault with Rancho Pancho - always happy to recommend.

One of my favourite meals out of the year. Unfortunately when we arrived (after booking and calling to confirm shortly before) we were told we needed to wait 15 minutes for our table. Not a major issue as we popped over the road for a pint. We returned after 15 minutes and were told our booking didn't exist despite having three conversations about it. We were asked to wait another 15 minutes and they told us they'd get us in anywhere they could. It was wall to wall heaving and the young girl serving seemed sincere so we gave it a chance. So glad we did! The enchiladas were up there with the best I've had and the young girl who waited our table was fantastic (I didn't get her name but she could've only been 16/17) It seemed as though she'd been dropped in the mire by somebody and we could have quite easily chewed her ear off but she made the evening memorable. Hats off to the chef and our waitress - shame on the person who supposedly confirmed our booking three times and then left this fantastic young waitress to pick up the pieces. Still, food was top notch.

Sorry no photos, went here tonight, had a few margaritas each, chicken and chorizo tacos, hot wings, mochiacian beef and the Pacifico cerveza it came to £70. The food was absolutely fantastic, great service and really nice place. The same experience wouldn’t be under £100 in Edinburgh. We loved it

Excellent food and service. The Fajitas and the Beef Michoacan were our choice and could not have chosen better. Would certainly recommend this to anybody looking for a value for money meal out.

First time dining in here on Wednesday night due to the storm and being unable to get back to Aberdeen with road closures. Myself and my husband came in without a reservation and still got a table when the restaurant was packed. Food and service was impeccable. Kyle and Mya really cheered us up after our day. Chicken margarita was amazing! The best part of our evening however was the dessert cocktails. A must if you visit! We will be back down soon!

A small restaurant. Packed full of people. The food was great, with excellent service and a brilliant atmosphere. Could do with a coat hanger. Everyone had jackets hanging over the back of their seat, hence making the space even smaller. Feels like a Mexican cantina.

Very busy place, book before you go as its seems to be very popular and as we found out it's not surprising. The staff are very attentive ,the food was amazing, nice portion size and very reasonably priced in comparison to Glasgow or Edinburgh. This place is well worth a visit.

Came here last night for dinner as a table of 15. Service and atmosphere were both good. The food was good however there was no vegan cheese or sour cream substitute. Phoned up prior and was told this wasn’t possible. Im sorry but it’s 2023, it’s not hard to provide this. As a table of 15 we’re not given enough table space and the folks on either end felt it was very cramped. Hopefully these kind of issues will be taken on board for future clientele.

After not being able to have a meal here last year, while in Dundee for a Seminar, I booked a table in advance. The restaurant is small, there was a nice ambience, lots of lovely pictures on the walls, Staff very friendly and pleasant............the food did not disappoint, my Chicken Quesadilla was amazing, I know what I will be ordering the next time I am in Dundee, my Colleague said her Chilli was amazing. Went on a Saturday night which is rather busy and had a great time. The fajitas are very tasty with the chicken, onions and peppers cooked perfectly but they could be a bit more spicy. The cocktails are also really good and the atmosphere is fun with the music and decorations.
