Marrone's in Fife

This business is no longer and closed 3 months ago so how can you rate it as a restaurant it’s now trading as Hugos Cafe Bar and has a very big outdoor seating area for the summer months drinks and food served outside

As a bar hugos is actually nice if a little expensive with friendly efficient staff. However when it comes to food it is a completly different story in every way but the price. I have now come here on two occosions and both times left dissapointed by the quality of food and shocked by the size of the bill. The chicken platter being a particular dissapointment it was just a frozen mess. I could get a better meal by crossing the road and raking through louie browns bins.

Just visited Hugo’s cafe for two lattes first ones stone cold and on small cup not a proper latte cup second one was not much better but thought hey ho until we got the bill £5.70 for two coffees what a rip off we were the only two people in there and I can understand why never again. Be aware when you ask for coffees.

Went here for dinner with my husband, lovely meal. I had beef stroganoff with rice was nice & tasty.my husband had breaded haddock & hand made chips then we had profiteroles & cream and I had double cream & vanilla cheesecake...mmm...mmm...mmm was gorgeous. Lovely decor with a bar opening out onto a large beer garden with a big screen tv.....staff very smart & friendly. Would definitely recommend this place to friends & family...

Visited for first time. It was nice to see folk sitting outside in the beer garden. Internally, the place is very fresh and modern. However, as others have stated, there are a very high number of high bar stool type tables. As we wanted to eat, the availability of dining style tables was low. We did find one tucked in the back corner. Service was good. Food was typical bar food but of high quality and very large portions. The style is definitely aimed at the younger generation. My daughter thought it was “fab”. I’d say it was good. The balance of seating types does need rebalanced I’d say. Would definitely visit again though.

My husband had Satay chicken & chips. No flavour from anything. Chicken was that pre-shaped processed stuff and you'd expect the satay sauce to taste of peanuts. Nope nothing. Even the chips were tasteless. My dish was chilli beef nachos. Not good. Even the guacamole was out a jar. Actually the sour cream, chilli and cheese was as expected. I spoke to the manager who was not having any of it. It was all fresh he stated. Fresh out of a packet! I tried to reason with him but his attitude was hostile . Great isn't it you have to pay in advance but you can do nothing when you are not happy. The waitress said she'd mention to the chef but she didn't come back to us. 'Chef?!' The meal wasn't cheap. Go across the road to Brown's and get real food that has a taste. Admittedly the outside garden area is good but an opportunity for giving good food is being lost.

The first thing we noticed on entering was the number of high bar stools/tables and less typical seating. We were lucky to find the last normal height table and there was only 15- 20 people at most in the restaurant/bar. So looks like most people wanted the normal height set up as we did. That would suggest its more targeted at younger people with the high seating. Our food was ok but they had ran out of our first choice, unusual for midweek. I would say the food is on a par with the Compass but a lot more expensive. We did like the style/decor but not sure if we would return, more to do with not enough regular height seating and the prices. Our group of 4 all agreed.

Went in opening weekend and had lovely food. Huge portions, fresh, piping hot and excellent service. Stayed for a few drinks and a member of bar staff even went and got me a gin that wasn’t on the shelf. Very good value for money and I hope it does well. More choice for food than Louie browns and hopefully the both compliment each other.

Great place for food. And lovely setting also. The menu has something for everyone. My one small fault I could see is that there are to many tall tables and chairs. Some of the older customers will struggle with them, but small point that is easy to rectify.

Really disappointing meal tonight at the new place Hugo’s in Dalgety Bay. My hot food had a earwig in it,although they apologised and changed the meal it meant I had to wait about 15 mins till another one was ready,by then the other three diners had finished their meal. No fresh cooked food on show just frozen,our chicken sharing platter looks like it came straight from Iceland or Tesco’s own,Sarah’s southern fried Chicken was 2 small flat pieces of breaded Chicken esk which the most southern Place it had been was the bottom of the deep freezer. When we asked for the bill at the end there was no mention of the earwig,no money off or even a complimentary drink,I did mention we were not happy with the quality of the food either and hopefully they could pass it back to the management, I did query why Louis Browns was much better for quality of food and it was at least real meat etc. I was told that they and Louis Browns have different suppliers and chefs,must admit Louis Browns is by far better for quality of food and at least there is fresh food in Louis Browns. Hugo’s need to get there act together and fast as you can get a better meal in Brewers Fayre etc and cost you have the price that they are charging_ Think it will be a while before we are all back and will check reviews etc before we do. Prices are not that cheap for what you get either,they are basically giving you quantity as the portions of chips,coleslaw etc were huge rather than quality

Visited the new place, below average food which is priced as if it is in Edinburgh City Centre. You can see why the previous establishment didn't last long, and I can see this heading the same way.

First visit to the re-vamped restaurant. Now called Hugo’s. Light, bright and airy, this space has been completely transformed from the original Marrone’s Italian restaurant. The food is an eclectic mix of world cuisines and there should be something on the menu for everybody. The food I ordered was piping hot and very tasty. Service is excellent with bar staff all looking as though they are enjoying their new surroundings. Hope they do well. Looking forward to the live music evenings over the summer.

Visited here on Friday afternoon. Had the lunch menu. bruschetta for me and pate for my partner. I had carbanara for my main and partner had a pizza with ham and pineapple. Both course where lovely and staff attentive. Great value for money.

Was pleased we had a new restaurant in Dalgety bay but what a disappointment. Shabby décor. No atmosphere. Service not personal. Food standard poor. If you go don't build your hopes up.

We had another great meal at Marrone's, celebrating my grans 90th, Reece who was looking after us this evening took the time to make sure my gran had a great evening, superb service and as usual enjoyed the meal, well priced and a good atmosphere complimented by knowledgeable and relaxed staff.
