The menus is small, service is bad. The manager was really rude to us - she wouldn’t take our discount code because they don’t accept it, despite it being clearly signposted as a Greene king pub. They also had no food available, we were told ‘when it’s gone, it’s gone’

Came here before our meal in old town and found a proper traditional pub. Good beer, friendly service and comfortable seating. A nice garden out front to watch the world go by.

Had a beer here Saturday, traditional old pub was busy and tight for space. Barmaid was efficient and friendly. Good selection of beers, had sport in but TVs weren’t the biggest.

Not really much to say except I am perfectly satisfied with the Marquis of Lorne. They serve beer, wine, soft drinks and snacks at reasonable prices. It's a fairly old but un-spoilt establishment. Yes from time to time I'll return. There's a lot of choice in our old town.

Came here for casual poker and left with bruises. They tried to fight me when I won, literally threw fists. Plus there is no decent ciders. Avoid at all costs. The Chequers is close and better. Barman was racist, literally can’t yhink of a reason to give this any stars out of 5 but I can’t give it a zero

Stopped in for a quick pint with friends. It was quiet when we were there so service was quick and pleasant. Plenty of seating inside and a little area out back but if it's a nice day I would advise sitting out the front. Good amount of seating and it's nice to sit back and watch the world go by. Worth a drink!

We had my retirement party here in the room above the pub and all had a great time. The food and decorations were excellent and the room just cosy enough for 30+ people. The room hire was very reasonable. The staff worked very hard all evening Thanks very much

Old fashioned? Maybe, but it is great to go back to how pubs used to be. Plain Beer and crisps fare in an proper Pub atmosphere. The beers we tried were all good.

One of the few pubs left that' still 'wet trade' (i.e. it doesn't do food). It would be even better without the tellies and fruit machines. A good place to sit outside and watch the world go by

The choice of beers are absolutely fine. As it was a lovely evening I and my friends sat outside in the sunshine. A very pleasent place on the High Street. Will visit again the next time I'm in Stevenage.

Love this pub it is a proper English pub with great staff, super friendly and well kept beer. It has a great bar lively with a great little darts bar as well. It feels like a local. Great outside seating as well at the bottom of the High Street so you can watch the world go by.

At the bottom of the high street. Very small in side but regularly shows sports events. Plenty of tables outside. Always busy on a sunny day. Generally a nice pub, with a mixed age group but not too many under 25

An excellent traditional pub serving at least three real ales and usually one guest in addition. Cosy, friendly atmosphere with a real fire in the saloon when colder. Quiz nights on Mondays, music occasionally in the club room. The Marquis doesn't do food at present, except rolls at lunchtime, but it's still a very welcoming hostelry.

Today I attended a meeting at this Pub, they have a quaint meeting room at the rear of the pub, being accessed away from the public area. The Landlord is very helpful as always the meeting room is adequate for a small meeting up to 15 people and the pub provides a very nice buffet lunch We have used this venue on a number of occasions and recommend it to any group who may want a small function room

Came to Stevenage on a weekend away with my husband and found this gem of a pub. Fabulous atmosphere, always busy and the staff are friendly and efficient. Beers are great so obviously the cellar is looked after properly, unlike so many pubs you find these days. If we're ever in Stevenage again, this will be our first port of call. Highly recommended!

Open fire, decent beer, food during the day - friendly staff and critically - no hassle from a mature crowd of slightly older locals.

Old fashion pub with an old fashion vibe. The pub is still split in two and both areas are slightly different. On the right hand side, there are more seats and a nicer area for a nice conversation with friends. The left side is more geared towards darts and is an area geared more towards standing. Good beer......Nice atmosphere......Cant ask for much more.

Good quiz, lots of fun. Shame the publican cheats when giving out prizes. Severely unhappy, lost trust. When called on it publican was completely unapologetic and boasted about how much money he had saved.
