We went for a carvery on Wednesday 26th February and was given a table. I went to bar and the team leader (forgot to get his name) but everytime we go in he cannot do enough for us. Then after got our tickets for the carvery we went up to the carvery section and no one was there so my wife pressed the bell. Well Esme arrived and what a wonderful uplifting character she was. Very polite, had the banter and then was joking with me and my wife and heard me talking to my wife as I only eat peas. Esme then went wait there I'll get you some peas. This may seem a little to someone but I was really touched by how helpful she was not only with my peas haha but the service she provided. Next time we go hopefully she's on thanks esme.

Went today for Sunday lunch waited 30mts in the queue, understandable, meat beautiful. Veg raw, Yorkshire puddings, great, need more time to cook the veg

very busy ...make sure you book at least a couple of days before to make sure you get a table ...lovely food ,great staff very helpful the carvery a deffo if you not tried 100% recommend.

Lovely food, great carvery lot's of choice in vegetables 😋 and indoor play area for the kids is perfect to run some energy off we will be visiting again, staff are very friendly and helpful.

Yes my wife and I visit the Marquis most Wednesday lunchtime and most of the time enjoy a lovely Carvery,I say most of the time is because when it gets busy the standard of the food goes down a degree, ie, some of the vegetables are too hard to eat !!!! it's as though they are trying to get the food out on display too quickly and it's not working, we along with other customers from times have complained about this but it's still happening.

The carvery was absolutely outstanding and the service the same not to mention the great prices and the bonus of kids eating free!The adults had carvery and my 9 year old son had the kids chicken combo but and he really enjoyed it but tried out carvery and said when we go back which we 1000% will be he too wants a carvery. 20 out of 20 and my son gives it a 5 star review! We all look forward to visiting again!! ❤️

Easy booking online, given the option of festive or normal menu, we chose normal, table and area was very clean, staff were very friendly and welcoming. The food was hot and in plentiful supply, very joyful server on the meat section. Would highly recommend to anyone, anytime. Thank you for making our boxing day easier, but still special.

We reserved a table and arranged to treat Friend to a dinner & drinks. I was served by a very polite young ladd with black hair & face piercings (sorry but can't recall his name) he went out of his way while serving and nothing was too much trouble. My Wife also commented on how hard he was working and never stopped. The beauty of the pub was that we could all choose different meals & the quality was fantastic. We finished eating & stayed a couple of hours drinking & chatting. In short we all had a lovely afternoon with great food & excellent service. . Thank You !

Called here as I was told the food was nice. Me and my wife had the mixed grill. To be honest I didn't expect it to be brilliant with it being about £27 for both meals. And it wasn't Cheap sausage, frozen onion rings, dry chicken. The pint of larger I had smelt funny. It was a typical greenking don't think we will return.

14 of us went here for my stepson's birthday. We've been lots of times before and as usual, the food is OK, the staff are a bit on the go slow and tend to leave you standing at the bar while they chat to each other in the glass wash scullery and the atmosphere is always low tempo. We only use it here because it's convenient

Came in for a couple pints after work. Had fantastic service from Jake. Very attentive. Had some loaded chips which were delicious. Jake was friendly and very welcoming.

Carvery was poor no cauliflower no peas stuffing like water no condiments when I had got my lunch and who puts mint sauce in the gravy. Definitely won't be eating the Carvery again

Haven't been for years, last time we came it wasn't the best but this time a different story. I had a bacon's cheese burger, my partner had sirloin steak. Both really enjoyed it decent portions and very filling. Staff were friend and attentive.

We were served by Alfie most of the night, the staff are always lovely but Alfie went above and beyond.

After a long 2 weeks working in Scotland 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿. They is nothing better than a good Yorkshire friday roast with all the trimmings.

Came in for a few drinks and a bite to eat with the lads. Great service all around. Lucie and Isabell were incredibly polite and friendly when collecting our empty glasses. Chelsey and Ethan servered us quickly and had smiles the entire time! Cannot recommend this place enough!!

I booked a specific table for 8 people, when we arrived we were asked to move to another table next to the toilets "if we didn't mind" as they had double booked, we decided to leave. A couple of days later we reserved another specific table for 3, on arrival we were asked to move to another table again as the whole area where we booked a table was reserved, not just the table we had booked but a whole section of the pub, however, we were allowed to sit at the table we had booked. For an hour and a half no one arrived who had supposedly booked. What is the point in ringing up and reserving a table if when you arrive they put you where they want. I won't be going back to this establishment again, it is a shame because the food is of good quality at a reasonable price, the problem they have are the superviser staff who lord it over their customers and don't treat them with respect.

Having recently visited the Marquis initially to meet a friend and have a drink, my wife and I decided to have a meal. we both agreed that our respective meals were excellent. I had steak and ale pie my wife had a carvery. I'll certainly be visiting again vety soon.

Lovely place for a meal, food is always quality, friendly staff, great atmosphere always feel relaxed. Update: Had a lasagna the other day and it was quite luke warm in the middle, not only that, but it was so small for the price. I know it's classed as a light snack but it was £8 to 9, you'd expect a bigger portion. We have noticed on our last few visits that the food quality has gone down. Also, this is aimed more at management as you can tell staff are forced to do this, but coming to the table and asking if the meal is okay 5 to 10 mins into our meal, it is just awkward and cringy as more than likely you'll have food in your mouth, and end up doing hmmm, hmmm. No other restaurant we go to do this, they might ask at the end. But please, let customers eat in peace.

We visited later in the evening as a group for a meal. The menu choice was good and there was something for everyone. Unfortunately, we waited 45 minutes for our food to arrive despite the pub being pretty quiet, and some of the food had clearly been sat waiting to be served for some time. The food was pretty good, but some of the sauces (mainly cheesy ones) had been stood for too long so were a bit sloppy. A couple of the beer glasses were dirty but otherwise drinks were okay

I have to mark it down purely on the basis that every single glass we were given was absolutely filthy, along with the 2 inches of water from the melted ice in the bottom of the filthy glasses. The food we had was actually really nice, but I am sorry there is zero excuse for dirty glasses !

This was my first visit to Marquis and I was impressed with the freshness/cleanliness of the establishment. The food was very reasonable and tasted lovely. The staff were friendly, efficient and professional I really loved it. I'm planning on returning very soon ...today with my husband.

Called on a Wednesday 31st at around 6pm food excellent called again on Thursday at around 6pm food awful, more than likely different chefs, food should never have been sent out of the kitchen on the Thursday.

The Marquis is very close to where I live and my family and I have visited it many times over the years. My choice of food on various occasions has been the carvery because it is normally delicious but just lately we have noticed a slip in their standards. Only last week the vegetables on the carvery were undercooked and very hard but this place is our local so we thought it might be a one off mistake and went back this week to try something else.This time around I chose the halloumi salad which only had five ingredients, halloumi, lettuce, croutons, grated cheese and a tiny amount of salad dressing. Perhaps some people would expect tomatoes, cucumber and various other basic salad items with this dish but they were all missing. When I asked the waitress where the other items were she said it is normally served like this so I guess that this is what you will receive for £9 from there if you like salad. Personally though I think I will be visiting alternative establishments who can make a much better job of it.

A nice carvery here as well as the usual pub grub. Good atmosphere and plenty of parking. For me the only downside was the limited choice of beers. Helpfull staff.

My sister and I go with a group to different places to have lunch each thursday. This week it was the turn of the Marquis. We both enjoyed the carvery but was astounded at the price of a small lime and lemonade drink, £3.75. I thought I had been charged wrong but no it was right. I know more profit is made on soft drinks but come on, really.

Personally I had a lovely carvery, my mother in law wasn't impressed with her meal though.

Food was lovely, and service was amazing! Our little boy spilt his coke everywhere and they replaced it. My partner suffers with anxiety and she felt really welcome and atmosphere was bareable for her, would recommend this place.

Not been to Marquis before for a carvery, usually as a reviewer I don't go to pick faults only tell the truth of what I had, so here goes had the med carvery but added extra Yorkshire puds, I got 4 Yorkshire puds , roast beef Brussels carrots roast potatoes red cabbage collieflower & gravy, the y/puds was beautiful ( sorry couldn't eat all). Short review, the whole carvery was cooked spot on, even the gravy was good. I've done a lot of reviews but this was amazing, one not pick I didn't get much beef, but still enjoyed it. So my compliments to all in the kitchen. It was very busy and that was at 4 o clock Sunday. You definitely need to book. I will go back in a few weeks to see if they have kept up the standard, don't often say this but definitely going back. Try it you won't be disappointed.

Great Sunday carvery except for the Yorkshire puddings they were flat and doughy . Two of our party ordered from the menu but staff had to be reminded because their meals never arrived but we were all offered a free dessert for the inconvenience which is acceptable and it's not putting me off going back.

Had carvery, gravy quite runny and could have more flavour, roast potatoes was too hard to eat couldn't put fork into them, stuffing was sloppy. Prefer Sir Jack's greenking, much more homely tastier food especially the roast potatoes, Yorkshire pudding, beef and gravy 😋

Popped by thinking of a big breakfast but was a bit late for that and breakfast is only served till 11am.So had a carvery instead.Food was good and portions of meat generous also.Good selection of other veg and condiments to go with it and a range of alcoholic and non alcoholic drinks available.Has a big play section for young kids to keep them occupied too.All this in a big spacious building with plenty of seating and parking outside.Definitely be going back there 👍👍
