Lovely, friendly cafe with the most amazing fresh, nutritious and tasty food. Definitely worth a visit. Having never tried East African food before, the staff were very patient in helping me choose and the food came out very quickly, piping hot and delicious.

Tucked away at top of Dublin St this is a real find. Delicious African dishes served with enthusiasm. Great choice of veggie & meat dishes as well as daily specials - today was a spicy chicken tagine. The idea is you choose a base of rice/chapati then top with as many toppings as you like. So tasty! Good coffee & fritters too. A few tables outside for the fleeting Edinburgh sunshine or you stay inside and listen to the cool sounds. My 2nd visit and I’ll be back for sure

I wouldn't imagine there's many Tanzanian restaurants in Edinburgh - and if there are, I doubt they're better than MaRobert's. The concept is simple. You choose a base (vegetable and coconut rice; aromatic rice, special rice or chapati) and the add two or three toppings. Two toppings and a base is £8 and three toppings and a base is £10. Exceptional value! I went of aromatic rice alongside Chicken Binzari, succulent chicken breast with tumeric, peppers, onion and garlic; and Mboga, Mixed vegetables (cabbage, carrot, peppers, onions) in a spicy tomato sauce Humble, honest food but it is packed full of flavour. Served by Skye, whose welcome was as warm as the food! She explained each dish with passion and confidence.

I’ve eaten here several times and also at MaRoberts Leith Market stall. The food is consistently fresh and absolutely delicious. The choice of base and two toppings is incredibly good value. The service is charming and friendly and I could eat their chicken binzari curried chickpeas and coconut rice every week for the rest of my life, it’s that good.

Took my sons here for lunch and we all thought the food was delicious - full of flavour and made with healthy and natural ingredients. It’s good value too, and the service is so warm and friendly. I also bought a jar of apple and chilli relish to take home which is gorgeous.

We had visited the food market in Stockbridge Edinburgh in early November and noticed this interesting food stall serving Tanzaneian food. It all looked delicious. We discovered that they also have a small restaurant in Edinburgh City centre so we decided to go there for lunch on Tuesday 8th November. We were greeted with a warm welcome by a young man working there and the food choices were all explained to us. The foidvwe had was so delicious, fresh and full of flavour. There were many choices for gluten, dairy, and egg free which suited my wife, we were please to have tried something a bit different. A superittle gem of a place, with lovely staff, and amazing food all home cooked by MA herself. Very happy to recommend.

Ma Roberts has quickly become one of our family favorites! The chicken banzari and the chickpea curry are both fantastic options over the aromatic rice. And the banana doughnuts are a perfect bite to finish. We will be back again and again.

The links between Tanzania & Scotland are strong. Tanzania's first president (Julius Nyerere) studied in Edinburgh and he has been described as one of Edinburgh University's greatest alumni. MaRobert's cafe only strengthens this link - it offers a chance to to get a taste of Tanzania right in the heart of the New Town. The food looks and tastes great, and the coffee is second to none. It is great for a quick snack or a meal.

The staff, food, and atmosphere were fantastic! I especially appreciated the delicious vegan options. Everything was top-notch, and I’ll definitely be coming back next time I’m in Edinburgh. Thank you for catering to different dietary needs!

Got the ckn wrap 5£ and ckn was strongly marinated, the saltiness really works well in the wrap. Other than that it's got lettuce and not much else, but the wrap itself was super crispy, excellent bite as well. Second visit: Dhan Halla, Bamia Bill Foron The lamb dish with tomato base was quite flat and very salty The veggie dish with cubed lamb was pretty good. Pita bread was ok A little pricey tho Third visit: Got the wrap again with feta, aubergine and ckn add on and only 1pound more The skin is rlly not well toasted, the ckn breast is quite dry but overall it's fine

I went for dinner with a friend and was really looking forward to the meal (the reviews seemed great and so did the website and menu). We booked a slot for a la carte menu without realising that if we would like go for the “sharing experience” we should have booked a different time slot (perhaps if this could be better clarified in the website it would have been useful). We were immediately told that changing the slot was not possible as we didn’t have time. We felt rushed during our meal, and although we were finished our main courses within our 1h30 slot, we were not asked for desserts and we were just asked to finish our drinks in the hall because the table was booked for other people…so we felt rushed to pay…Unfortunately I didn’t enjoy the food as I hoped, as I was stressed with the time pressure…

Delicious food fusing Spanish tapas with South African favourites and Scottish indulgence. Each dish is a decent size (2-3 per person will fill you up) and there are South African and Spanish wine and beers. Friendly servers in a cosy, warm space. Indaba is now our go-to place for taking guests out for dinner.

Excellent food, very large portions. There are several vegetarian options, we love their spicy sauce. Everything was on point. We hope to return soon!
