Lovely fish & chips but a bit too greasy. The toilet was horrible & needed a good clean

Order was X2 meals both meals was just warm not good

RUBBISH 1 star is to much but you have to give something., food was very over cooked intact it was probably yesterday's re heated stay well clear

Sadly on this occasion it was very poor. Greasy overcooked tasteless cod and mushy peas with far too much artificial colour. You only get one chance to make a first impression. Would never go back.

Found it in unclean on both occasions I've visited

Great place for food. I had a small fish and chips with mushy peas all piping hot and chips fresh however, a few things to go improve on firstly, when I went to be served I saw behind the lady serving me that they had a vape on the food work top on display to be seen not that I don’t mind people camping but not whilst at work and especially not whilst working with food. Secondly, the batter for the fish could of been thicker and finally, the staff where messing around near the fryers chatting and giggling whilst people were waiting to be served. Other than that a great place for food and not too expensive.

With hand on heart I can honestly say this is the worst food I have ever tasted, the chips are flavourless, the pies are tasteless and old, I will never eat here again.

Awful..scabby crunchy bits for chips,hardly any fish just all oily batter,peas were nice and hot though! Never been before and will never ever go again.

Expensive, small portions and the chips were so soft that couldn't get them with the fork, was like eating mashed potatoes,tasted like old oil

Called in at 2pm for a sit down late lunch. Luke warm/cold fish and chips. Such a shame! Still, it filled me up.

OMG, best fish and chips 👍 fish nice thivk and fluffy, chips cooked properly and not anemic (perfect), mushy peas were best i have tasted. Highly recommend this chippy for eat in lunch .

Ok but the chips were a little scabby and had more black bits than the quantity allowed for wastage. Very dry so was glad I could put my own vinegar on.

Traditional kind of place ,not terribly fancy ,but clean and generous sized plates of haddock and chips were brought to the table by a friendly lady, would go again.

There gravy is the best in the town I love this chip shop !

Large fish and chips are of very generous portions, fish is nice & crispy not Greece like most places, chips are nice and not dry even when they start to cool down and the peas stay moist, Staff are friendly also very clean place to sit in and eat.

Decent fish & chip shop and cafe. Prices very reasonable & as the name suggests along side the market in Chesterfield town centre. Seems to have plenty of regular customers, which makes you think the place is good.

Always love the food in here. The portions do seem to have gotten smaller as the prices have increased but the standard of food has never faltered. The fish isn't greasy and has a fluffy, crispy batter that coats perfectly flakey fish. The food is worth going for, so stop by if you're ever after a spot of lunch.

This use to be my favourite place but I found the floor very dirty this time the mini fish tasteless and the mushy peas were hard.

Visited this place during a day trip to Chesterfield and having read some of the reviews (which weren't that great) we decided to give them a try. I'm not sure what some people's expectations are but we thought that the fish and chips were lovely!! We had the cod and chips special and the portions were very ample. The chips were lovely and the cod was beautiful and white with lovely crisp batter. The mushy peas were the best we had ever had (real proper peas). The staff were lovely and friendly and we will definitely be back. Would highly recommend this place!!

Massive portions and plenty of seating space !

Quality food and excellent service. Always busy so waiting times can vary, but you don't mind waiting for quality.

Hot plate should be kept at hotter temperature then you had it Monday to keep food hot and safe to eat. Chips would be better if you blanched them and store them they be a lot nicer and fresher when serve to customers instead looking like out of date chips. Prices are okay I guess but not for what your serving. This is all basic food hygiene and you not doing it. From 2 chefs in a 5 star 🌟 hotel

Absolutely excellent - The staff were really friendly - and they had just brought a new range of Chinese food - which they let me test before buying. The food was delicious - my friend had fish and chips and I had beef in black bean sauce - generous portions. Quickly and efficiently served. Will definitely visit again 10/10

Worst chips I've had in years. The only taste was fat!!

Staff seemed very uninterested in serving me, the chips were old, should have been thrown away about half an hour before they were served to me, and the portion sizes are horrific. I paid £2.80 for a large chips and it was easily less than a £1.80 portion from other, respectable chippys.

Awful place. Went in and the man behind counter shouted over to the two women to serve me. The chips were disgusting and the fish wasn't that great. Being a typical Englishman, I carried on and just tucked in. Problem was at the finish I found a hair on the plate bathing in the grease. Seeing as I don't have hair I knew it wasn't mine. I went over and said their was a pube on the plate. She said sorry and I left. Very disappointed is the summary.
