Marjayz in Birmingham

I first came here when it first opened and the food was amazing full of flavour and taste. But I came here recently and I didn’t have the same experience, the food was overcooked and dry. I was really disappointed considering the first time I came here I loved it. It seems the menu has changed but personally I don’t think it’s that great. Unfortunately I won’t come back again.

Ordered 2 munch boxes . U hardly get anything in the boxes for the amount you pay and then to top it off ive been up all night I'll . The curry goat is badly salty and this is why I stopped having it before thought it would have changed

BANGING BEST PLACE IVE GONE TO FOR REAL AUTHENTIC FOOD! TRAVELLED OVER 30 MILES TO FIND THIS GEM!

Food is okay but you don't get a lot for the £25 and £15 box meals. I can forgive this, however I won't be coming back as upon entering the shop I was greeted by a gent behind the till smoking a cigarette. Definitely a health and safety issue. Please have a word with your staff.

Actually quite sad to write this as I feel the owner/chef is on to a good thing, his food is actually nice. My son wanted to treat me for Mother’s Day so we decided to go here as we’d never been. I had the mega box 1 he had mega box 2 … mega box 1 consisted of 5 tiny prawns 3 wings and two tablespoons of mac and cheese for £15 now I don’t mind paying for decent food but £15 for that and the presentation was awful just slapped in a takeaway box, no care or thought I was gob smacked when I opened it, I was embarrassed for the chef like no way had he sent that out like that. My son had the mega box which again for £25 the portions were tiny my son is a big eater hence why he opted for that however I could have ate that amount tbh. One of my wings wasn’t cooked which they were apologetic about and gave me 4 extra wings, but after waiting 1 hour and 30 mins for a child’s portion of food I’d of expected it to be cooked. As I say the food was tasty but I feel they are definitely more focused on profit than actually running a substantial business where people will return because of quality, quantity and service. Needless to say I won’t be returning which is sad Tbh as my son and I are big on supporting small businesses. Please think of longevity of your business and take on board the feed back.

My pal from work had one big curry goat last night he said it was really gud in fact amazing was the word he used and has been talking Patwa all day so I'm guna order Friday as I love Jamaican food

This was my first time coming to Marjayz and I must say I’ll deffo be returning, the food is Outstanding! tasty and cooked to perfection….good quality food. The staff was so polite and friendly, next time I’ll try the dine in experience 👌🏾 even when I got home with the food it was still piping hot 😋🔥

First time here and joy of joys another Caribbean food outlet in Birmingham, which is a sad fact as we have an established Caribbean diaspora but not enough Jamaican restaurants 🤷‍♂️😢 but anyway tried this first time and it really didn't disappoint! Charming personable service and bloody hell, he was cooking by himself!! at a busy time! and STILL had the courage to show off his food to us before he packed it. Superb quality superior Caribbean food. Will definitely go back 👍👍

I ordered a curry goat , jerk chicken and a mega box - 2 curry goats came waited ages for delivery and all the food from the mega box was dry and over done ordered a coke and got a rubicon mango absolutely disgusting do not eat here waste of time n money can't phone the number they have doesn't work I wonder why!!!! Too many complaints never again!

My first time at this eatery.. got to say the food was really good especially the jerk chicken and prawns. Nice atmosphere and friendly staff. My only regret was not having the £25 mega box so I could try some more tasty food.

Absolutely amazing food!!! I tried share box two with mutton and jerk chicken and it just melted in my mouth full of flavour and the loaded fries are a must! 😍and a lovely warm atmosphere. My new fav place 🤗worth every penny!!! 🐷🤤

Passed through Marjays for a mixed food tray. went for double mutton and rice, extra mac and cheese and festivals with plantain. quality was on point and nice smooth take away service.

We found this place from Tik tok and had to try the roast dinner boxes, absolutely lush and great portion size for the price. It’s a 35 min drive for us but we will be back - we had the mutton, brown stew, jerk chicken, salad, parsnips, plantain and Mac and cheese plus some sexy Juice which was all amazing ! Place is clean and service wonderful - highly recommend and we will be back

If you’re ordering because you’ve seen their TikTok or other social media videos/images then beware because a “megabox” is significantly smaller in real life! I’d prefer them to be honest and not duplicitous in their marketing….. When you order and are told “20 minutes” you will need to double this and add another 5 minutes. Jerk chicken was more like brown stew chicken but was delicious. For the money (£25) I feel cheated. The coleslaw was amazing!

I have been recommended to go here for a while and now I know why! would 100% recommend to anyone who enjoys Caribbean Food to visit this place food was lovely I ordered a regular curry goat, fries and dumpling and it was all bang on! fries and dumpling both fresh and crispy curry goat was on point portion size was great staff were very friendly and I will definitely be back to try more of the menu no photos as I’d eaten it all sorry!

The food is delicious, we went for the megabox 2 and I got the goat curry with rice and peas, the meat was almost melting in my mouth because of how soft it was, the jerk chicken was a little sweet and spicy - everything tasted homemade and fresh, seasoned beautifully, one of my favorite spots in Birmingham. All the staff are super friendly, kind and welcoming, I highly recommend! Keep up the great work!

waited 40 mins, sold out of mac and cheese, had no drinks, when i got my order my fries weren’t nice, my food was bathed in grease, i saw this place on tiktok and drove 50 mins, £25 for a box meal that had been thrown together, never again

needed a place to pop in before we drove home so had a quick search for halal food and this came up, so happy it did!! such yummy, homely food with great flavours. £25 for this box but 2 of us couldn’t finish it, very filling. highly recommend. parking available right outside which was handy. will def be back!!

First time trying marjayz never again I'd highly suggest you throw your gone of chicken away and my dumplings looked like they was cooked days ago in the bin were it belongs

Definitely coming back as the food was delicious and the customer service was brilliant. It was really filling too and the portion was just about right.

Friends at work told me about this place so obviously was excited to go, got there on a Friday just after 8pm, shop was empty, ordered 2 takeaway meals. Was told it’ll be about 20 minutes I thought yeah cool. 1 hour later I’m still sat in the shop waiting, no real apology and even after waiting for so long my bag didn’t even have all of my order in. Had to remind him about my sides that were missing and wait a further 10 mins. During my time waiting the Phone kept ringing and the chef kept coming out the kitchen to answer the phone to engage in convos on the phone yet multiple customers are waiting for food, like really? Taking more orders from the phone when you can’t even get the orders done for the customers already waiting in the shop! It literally makes no sense. Despite the hype I’d seen online the food was full of grease, greasy undercooked fries, and greasy wings, the prawns were nice as was the rice and peas but deffo ain’t goin here again. An hour for chicken wings, strips with fries and prawns is appalling.

I ordered the mega box 2 from here for the first time and it won’t be the last! The food is full of flavour and portion sizes are really good! We travelled 45 mins for it so glad we did!

Incredibly tasty fresh food. Not at all greasy. Plantain = perfection. I left my bag here and I knew it would be kept safe for me with all contents. Lovely family business and just good energy and vibes in the place. Me and my dad will be back. Thank you

Been trying to find a nice Caribbean since our usual place has closed. Have tried a few new ones but have either been half the menu not available, food cold, something missing, more fat than meat or just bland! But this place pleasantly surprised me. Ordered chicken wings, fries, goat with rice & peas, dumplings, plantain and coleslaw. Everything was perfect, portion sizes, temperature and taste all good. Also has a dessert guy in there the dessert trap where I ordered a cookie dough which was really nice too.

this is quickly becoming my favourite Jamaican food place for sure, only been opened a little over a year but they’re killing it with a yummy selection of food, amazing cosy atmosphere & lovely staff. place is very welcoming to dine in, and you can enjoy the sunny weather out in the beautiful garden. the flavours are unbeatable and mouth watering, 10/10 recommend 🫶🏼

My first try of this new Caribbean cafe, which used to be 'The Shed' cafe. I had the 'Marjayz Veggie box' which included Mushrooms, Seasoned beans, 2 Veggie Sausage's, Omelette and 2 toast, instead of tomatoes I had 2 grilled Halloumi and a Latte to drink afterwards. The Latte was the best I've had anywhere. Excellent portions and very reasonable price of £6.95. There's a large TV screen which plays Caribbean type of videos. They have a garden area at the back. Plenty of off road parking. Nice and clean small cafe with friendly staff. Four Tables seating 4 per table plus seating in garden area. Although it's not on the menu they have vegan friendly meals like meatless chicken etc. Great hours 8am to 8pm 7 days a week. 2nd July Tasty Pancakes with Banana & Mixed Berries with Syrup plus fries. Refreshing Tropical Pineapple drink 🍹

I don’t live local and visited this place for breakfast after a friend recommended it as was in the area. Ordered the Brekkie Box 1 x2 for myself and my friend, I don’t eat Turkey so had asked the guy behind the counter if he could swap the Turkey rashers for an extra hash brown on one of them. When the food came, both plates were missing the toast and mushrooms (not sure what happened there…). My friend eats Turkey and the Turkey was removed from both plates (only asked for the one). When made aware, the staff apologised and did offer to make the toast etc but by the time that would have been ready our food would have got cold so we had eaten it…and no one wants toast on its own so we just said no need to do it now. Think this was a one off so given this place a 3/5 stars, as when I tried the lunch last time that was great and they didn’t charge me for a slushie, which was nice of them.

First time going today was very disappointed in there over priced tiny portions. I counted 4 pieces of meat hardly and sauce mainly rice and bone. Way too expensive for what you get I will. I will stick to my usual

I first came in and asked for a chicken burger snack box. I then asked how long It will take and asked if it can be done quickly because my work break was short. I planned to eat in firstly but the food took too long to make so I had to go take it away. The guy said that’s fine it will be done in 15 minutes and it took him 30 mins to make the food which was not what I ordered I instead got strips. He chose to get distracted by customers rather then finish my food which I had to eat 4 hours later because I went over my break just waiting for the food. When I politely said I can’t eat my food because I have to go work the cashier guy said “life isn’t all about work” what unprofessionalism is this. Honestly would not recommend.

We have eaten here a number of times. Food is always lovely and well presented. The café is really clean and Staff are friendly and welcoming.

Visited here for breakfast and dinner (mutton). Both times I was served promptly and the people working in there were friendly and helpful. The food was SO GOOD. Perfect for people who eat halal or need a veggie option too. Plenty of parking options out the front and on the road adjacent to the shop.

Ordered a take away and firstly it came in a good time, so I knew the food was cooked from fresh. Tried the sweet chilli prawns for starters and they tasted amazing. For mains I had the jerk chicken set meal and it was cooked perfectly. Would recommend and would go back for sure!

Bacon was overdone. Mushrooms and beans was cold, egg was brown and burnt. Waited over 20 minutes for the food. Would of complained but had an urgent appointment at 1pm and didn't get the food till 12.25pm so had to get up and go. Never again one of the worst breakfasts we have ever had.

The breakfast was cooked to perfection for both me and my partner. Would recommend to anyone.

We have dined at Marjayz a few times and we all agree that the food is consistently delicious and packed with flavour. The staff are friendly and the portion sizes are generous! Marjayz is a great addition to the area!

I came here for breakfast with my mother and enjoyed the experience overall. I had breakfast which caters for people who don’t eat pork, the bacon was turkey which I’ve never tasted before and really enjoyed and the sausages was chicken. The place itself is decorated so nice and the shop itself gives off a calm vibe. I had a child with me and whilst I was there I noticed that marjayz was accommodating somebody with additional needs which I found beautiful.. defo recommend10/10
