Visited this evening on my own. Shown to table, handed Menus. I waited and waited, no one even offered a drink. After 20 minutes, I left, Hungry.

Lovely meal, plenty of good food, very nice staff.

We went in to order a takeaway. I cannot fault the way we were dealt with. We ordered for a set time. Went it and waited briefly. Hot and fresh! My garlic bread was as asked for; no chillies. My Down's son knows what he likes; chicken and mushroom pizza. When he ate it he left most of the chicken. Cooked, but in large chunks! On a pizza? Not in my experience. Something peculiar to Barrow in Furness? Shame as the quality of the meal was very good. One learns.

We "walked in" unbooked, un-researched, short of time, early on a Thursday evening and it was a lovely experience. Warm friendly welcome, nice atmosphere, good choices on the menu. We had pizzas, which were great. Highly recommended, hope to go again soon when we have more time to enjoy!

Staff were brilliant...I ordered a dish for gluten and the lady even came over and said it would be quite bland..it was lovely that she wanted me to be able to enjoy my food without it being too bland 🙂

Love it at Mario House, we drop in on every trip back to Barrow from Helsinki, and it’s even nicer now than ever. Really cozy vibe inside, loads of choice on the menu, the food is delish and home-cooked style, and the staff are friendly and welcoming. 👍😋

Really tasty food and great staff!!! We had an awesome pizza and some amazing pasta dishes. The portions are huge and really good value for the price! Definitely we will come back!

Music was much to loud, chips were cold and had a lot of bad ones in which was disappointing, main meal was only Luke warm but the portion size was good.

Avoid takeaway at all cost! The Lasagne was burnt all the way through and was only just warm on arrival.

Wow. The decor, service and atmosphere all added to the splendid food. It was our first visit. I was even shown up stairs to see a splendid party room that would fit many a company celebration.

The food is good and plentiful. I’d recommend that unless you’re really hungry then you wouldn’t need a starter; that said though, they thoughtfully offer to box up any remaining food if you want to take it home with you. The staff are friendly and attentive and the prices are reasonable for the quality of the food.

We came on Friday night the food was amazing, we both chose the half pizza half pasta with side order of chips. The food was delicious and portion sizes huge would definitely recommend.

Absolutely devastated at what the prices have gone up amazing food but its a small town not a city and its mainly pasta a very cheap ingredient sorry but you have just lost my family and extended family friends custom from what we see as pure greed such a shame

Love Mario house to dine in or takeaway.The staff are fantastic. Favourites are the love pizzas, Romanian bread and anything Ndjua! They do fantastic baguettes at lunchtime too.

I ate on a Monday night which was busier than I was expecting. I ordered simple lasagna. I wanted a side salad but they only had main-course size so I skipped it. When the food came up I was given a complementary slice of garlic bread which was a nice touch. Both were tasty and quite filling. The music was quite loud but was turned down when I asked. To top it off, I was given a 20% discount! Thanks! Note it was cash only.

Food is absolutely amazing, Real authentic Italian cuisine, reasonably priced, you will be impressed.

Been going since they 1st opened. Always take family for special occasions, even took our friends visiting from America & Newcastle because we know we will never be let down. Me & hubby went to the new restaurant a few week ago & what a gorgeous building. Yet again food fabulous. We've also had take outs & again never disappointed.

The restaurant has a beautiful authentic feel. Staff are so friendly and go above and beyond to make your experience relaxing and enjoyable. The food....absolutely amazing and if you have any slight addition or alteration this is no problem. The menu is varied and very substantial. Something there to suit every taste. Definitely well worth a visit if you haven't tried it yet.

The place is beautifully decorated and clean. The service from the staff was welcoming, polite and friendly. The service was quickly delivered. My only fault of the place was the quality of meat used in the dishes. It’s felt and looked like processed chicken in our pasta dishes, which for the price of the meals wasn't justified.

Edit: So, I've been to Mario House again, and it was ok... just ok. As it has moved across the road and had a big make over its a much better-looking place! The ambience and decor are very good and now it has an upstairs! The food was ok. Just the standard Italian food you would expect, no wow factor. What let it down was the service. It was slow, and at the end of the night, it was hard to get the bill. When I did, it was hard to get your change.... as much as I do tip, £18 would be a bit much to leave behind as it took ages for them to come get it. The prices are up there. It is cheaper at salvanas around the corner. Since I came back the building has improved but the food wasn't as good and it was much more expensive with slow service. From a ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ on 1st visit .... To a ⭐️⭐️⭐️ this time around. May look to Salvanas on my next trip out. ============== Really friendly staff and really fantastic food! Terrible takeaway, £15 for a pizza that comes looking like someone loaded the toppings into a shotgun. Also missing toppings such as basil. They advertise having saussage and give you hot dogs cut up! Laughable. Used to be good, now overpriced and poor quality.

We were in a larger group. Staff were friendly and helpful but service could have been a lot better. Some of the food was delicious and again some could have been better. Mixed views on the food so maybe that's more personal taste but nothing bad to say. I would go back and have been before in smaller numbers

Cheesy garlic bread was cold, mainly cheese (couldn't taste the garlic). The bbq ribs didn't have much meat at all however the sauce was nice. Chips were over done. Have ordered from here a couple of years ago and never had a complaint... quite disappointed

Takeaways from here used to be top quality and reasonably priced. A year or so ago I would have been rating 4 or 5. Not any more. Prices have gone through the roof and the food quality has gone in the opposite direction. No longer worth the premium prices. Give it a miss...

Exceptionally premium prices for basic takeaway food. Used to be really great quality. Wouldn't mind the notable price hike in recent months if the quality had remained the same. That's not the case the price hike has been equally met with a reduction in quality. I can only assume there has been a change of hands. If not poor show Mario House....

Had a 70th birthday for 20 people. Everything was great. Food was delicious and staff were good. I had the Carbonara which I can honestly say was the best I have ever tasted.. Thank you for everything..

The decor is abit chrap looking fespite being a new restaurant. Food was average. I have had better from the supermarket. Wine was £8 a glass which is very expensive for the area. It was nice wine but not worth the money.

What a stunning little authentic Italian restaurant I managed to enjoy whilst up in Barrow-in-Furness. Just in the main town center - Mario's despite being a small cash only restaurant. It was a delightful experience with lovely staff, cute rustic decor and super delicious food. I enjoyed the Spinach and Ricotta Cannelloni which was truly sensational. Superb portion and really lovely taste.

Great service and food, I highly recommend the Romanian fried bread as a sharing platter - one of a kind snack and it’s sooo good! The restaurant is so beautiful and has an amazing atmosphere too which is a great bonus to the good and fairly priced food.

Very friendly and helpful staff. We didn't book ahead of time but they found us a table. The food was delicious, I had the Mexican double chicken burger and my partner had the American burger. Lovely atmosphere, well decorated. Would definitely recommend.

Food was really good. As this was our first visit we kept it simple. Pizzas were all good, esp. the pizza base which was excellent, as good as any I've tasted, including those in Italy! Our waitress was good too, very friendly and attentive.

Very disappointed with my starter - ordered bruschetta caprese- this arrived with cold plain pizza slices - mozzarella and halved cherry tomatoes- no fresh basil to be found - I did complain but was told that's how we serve this because we make the pizza base - was then charged £10!!!!

Prices have gone up so much but portion size is now 25 per cent less and got a cheesecake expecting to be able to cut the full one in half but you get a mere slice for £6 that is extortionate won't be going again let down after tonight

Saw latest reviews on this restaurant as we were on holiday and didn't know the area, so decided to give it a try. We are so glad we did. The staff were extremely friendly, the service was very good and the food excellent. The only disappointment is that we cannot take it home with us. We will return before we go home. Thoroughly recommended.

Beautiful elegant environment with no chance of over crowding. Staff are amazing, helpful and knowledgeable. Food is incredible. Your taste buds will dance on your tongue. Highly recommended.

Overpriced and Basic! Bit disappointed to be honest, the place was busy and the staff looked stretched so service was a bit slow. The menu was quite large but lacked traditional Italian variety. No specials menu on offer. I ordered the calamari starter which to be honest was overcooked and batter was a bit bland. Not the worst I've had but far from being anything memorable. The wife had cheesy garlic bread which was very good. The mains were both Alforno dishes waited a long time for the mains to be served, circa 45 mins after starters. When the dishes finally arrived they were undercooked... very saucy with slightly firm pasta, so handnt had long enough in The oven. The restaurant was nicely outfitted but was quite open to the front door and tended to have lots of people standing over other patrons which was a bit u comfortable. The food wasn't great and the pricing wasn't very competitive at all...won't be going back.

Can't fault the quality of the food my issue is the pricing strategy. We are regular customers both in and takeaway. We always go to the restaurant order, wait and collect our food. Saturday we were charged restaurant prices for takeaway food. I rang to ask why and was told they are too busy to do takeaway in the restaurant and we should have ordered through barrow eats! They totally failed to accept this has never been the case before. You have lost a regular customer tonight with your ridiculous pricing strategy 🙄

Visited Mario House last night, in it's new premises. Staff were very friendly, and welcoming, and the food was of a very good quality. Would not hesitate to return.

Mario House has moved into new premises so we booked Saturday evening for a meal. The staff are very friendly and helpful and the food is very good. We shared a starter plus two main dishes and a bottle of red wine... Total £50 which is excellent value for money. Definitely will be back

Forget salvos get yourself to mario house, great food very reasonable prices, sorry I haven't attach pictures we dived straight in. Try tue mussels they are really good. We have eaten as a couple and as a family both times we had a really good experience 😊

if that was a genuine italian pizza then im amazed pizza ever took off. rolled as this as a flat tire, all fillings in the middle so they didnt have to use fillings, the outside was dry and hard and I would have been better eating old shoe leather. Chips were amazing. Wont use again ever.

This super cute Italian food spot was surprisingly busy for a Wednesday evening, so it made for a great atmosphere. I strongly recommend you order the completely delicious, crunchy, fluffy little pillows listed on the starters menu as Romanian fried bread, which comes with the best homemade tzatziki I’ve ever had. Also I stole some of my friends risotto (I forgot the name but it has courgette & aubergine) which I definitely want to order for myself next time - was so lemony and fresh. My seafood pasta was nice too - but once I tried hers I wanted that instead. Final tip: Remember it’s a cash-only place.

Fantastic cajun chicken pasta and arriabata.

We walked in on the off chance and were given a lovely table for 2 by a very welcoming waitress. The menu is very extensive, plenty to choose from whether that be pasta, pizza, chicken or fish. Lots of side dishes of varying sizes. The food was amazing, full of flavour, generous portions and came out hot and in good time. Definitely some of the best Italian food I've ever eaten! Compliments to the owner and the staff. Will definitely come again if we are in or near Barrow.

I am italian and this place is far from authentic as they claimed to be. The entire staff is Romanian to start with, I 've asked to one of the waitress what language were they speaking in the kitchen as I have heard them talking while waiting to go to the toilet and she lied saying it was italian. Ordered a bruschetta and they gave me a garlic bread with salad on top. The spaghetti meatballs were drowned in flavourless tomato sauce, spaghetti overcooked and meatballs dry and surely purchased frozen and just reheated. They might be able to fool the locals who have no idea of what real italian taste and looks like but the quality is extremely low

Seven of us had a meal there to mark a visit by our old school pal from America. The food was lovely and the waitress could not do enough for us even organising an off menu dish for a vegetarian. Such a shame this little gem is set to close at the end of the year, we will definitely support them until then in the hope they can stay open

Drinks- I asked for dry martini and lemonade, then the waitress asked did I want a single or double, I said you usually get a bigger measure of vermouth as a matter of course, but asked for a single, tasted more like cinzano, but thought it may be me and didn’t want to spoil our holiday meal. Husband got lemonade instead of tonic with his gin. Starters- mushroom in garlic butter and cheese topping, ok but loads of fat left in the dish. Plus we’ve just realised the menu said stuffed mushrooms, and these were chopped up in garlic butter, with cheese grilled on top. I ordered a caprese bruchetta, mozzarella etc “ on Italian bread’. When it came it was a caprese salad with two triangles of anaemic looking pizza dough on the side. Explained that’s not what I wanted or what the menu said. Sent it back. By now, an hour had gone past. Mains- arrabiata penne and pizza margarita with extra onion and chilli. Helpful discussion on what chillis would be the spiciest, and chips. Pizza came without chillis and the chips were wrong, returned them, ( sent salt and pepper ones apparently) sent back pizza, it returned with raw chillis on top. Pasta was underwhelming. The bill- did not take off the starter £7.50 and actually crossed out the total and added £17.80 on! My husband went up to discuss this, they said they had accidentally added on the starter instead of taking it off, which made no sense and literally didn’t add up. They seemed miffed about having to ‘ throw away the starter’ which was not our fault either. The pictures on line, are nothing like what we got. Worst meal ever, took 2 hours too, service very slow.

Fresh, delicious and reasonable price. Highly recommend the cheesy garlic bread to share as a starter, the dough was amazing and so fresh, as was the pasta dishes we chose as mains. Only area to recommend for improvement was speed of service. Two members of staff working very hard covering all the orders, but the wait for us to order was too long for comfort. We booked out table 2 hours before a show and worried that we might be late at one point! Will definitely visit again, hopefully there will be more staff to help next time.

Had takeaway at the weekend and was awful. Pasta cold & tasteless, pizza & garlic bread like chewy cardboard. Won’t be ordering again.

We called in on the off chance of a table for 2 on a Tuesday evening. The place was busy which is always a good sign. We had meatballs to start in tomato sauce, these were big and amazing. 2 penne pasta dishes and cheesy garlic bread. Glass of wine and a beer. It was so good and the staff are excellent. Lucky us getting a table. We were the ones who moved to help out the big group. 👍

Absolutely appalling place, went for a friends birthday meal, only to be told to move tables whilst we were mid eating!! We left balloons and banners to put up ready in time as they said they would and they just left them untouched in the...

The food was very good, but the service was very slow. It took half an hour to get drinks and order taken. When food arrived we had to try and catch someone's attention to get cutlery, by which time food was losing heat.

I booked a table for myself, my husband and our daughter for New Year’s Eve and was told it was £10 per head deposit. I thought fair enough in case of no shows so I parted with my cash. This morning my husband tested positive...
