Marine Hotel in Aberdeenshire

Since my previous visits the choice on the Menu has reduced, is limited , presentation was poor and to be honest it was a disappointing night

The beginning of dinner was lovely Food & wine very good ….And then it fell apart We were completely ignored, no offer of dessert or coffee chased the bill and felt really let down by it all

We enjoyed a relaxing 2 night stay at the Marine Hotel. The room was neat and clean with a fabulous view of the harbor. Pub is on the first floor, restaurant on the second and our room on the third. It was quiet at night and we listened to the waves crashing. The food and drink at the pub and restaurant are great. The staff is pleasant and attentive. This is a great location, right on the water and near hiking trails.

This was the first time we had been in the restaurant upstairs, usually the bar ad dog friendly. The choice of food was very good and service as well. I was pleased to see such a variety of seafood.

very small hotel on the port. the location is enchanting. however the structure has many critical points. first of all the room in which we slept (considering the price - 170€) is very small and the furniture particularly basic and neglected. the breakfast, purely continental, is very modest. in the same structure there is a restaurant and a pub with a very warm and friendly atmosphere.

The food was lovely the staff were very friendly. If you are a fish lover this is the place to go my husband loves fish. I don't so had the steak to was great xx

We were recommended this restaurant by our b and b hosts and it didn’t disappoint. A warm, cosy, atmosphere, great views over the harbour and delicious food. I highly recommend the salmon skink.

We only had a drink here as we'd already eaten in the Ship Inn. Another traditional pub overlooking the harbour. Reasonable prices. We must come back to Stonehaven in the winter when the cosy pubs would be great.

We had a fantastic meal here last night. Four different meals, all very much enjoyed, with delicious Irish coffee to finish. The young staff were friendly and professional and the owner of this business should be very proud of them. Will be back.

Just had lunch with a friend at the Marine Hotel. Lovely day and fabulous surroundings. We chose food from the lunch menu. Two burgers of the day at £15.50 each. We also decided to get some stilton and port sauce, always lovely with chips! I was charged £37.95. When I queried the bill I was told the burgers were actually £17.00, the menu was incorrect and they needed to print new menus. I think this may run into problems with consumer law... A small ramekin of sauce was charged at £3.95. The food was OK as burgers go but I'm not sure it was worth what we paid. Beware the lunchtime menu and it's hidden/invisible charges.

Though I will say the food was fantastic and the drink selection was cracking. The service side sure needs a bit of work. Innattentive staff, often stood or leaning at the bar chatting while customers waited a long time for things. I am patient and very understanding in these environments but it came to a point where I just recognised laziness and lack of interest. Lovely restaurant atmosphere and Good culinary experience let down by the poor service.

Stayed a night at this hotel. We were on the top floor. Lots of fairly steep stairs , The view was good. The bed was very small and in my opinion not comfortable. Small but ok bathroom with shower over bath. Could really do with a shower/bath mat when showering as the bath, obviously, gets very slippy. Two lights not working....one on bathroom mirror, one in bedroom. Staff friendly. Ate in the bar...good food.

Wonderful food. I've eaten dinner here a couple of times and always loved it. Great specials. On this occasion I had the duck breast (Duck breast, parmentier potatoes, celeriac puree, cherry & kriek beer jus) and it was superb. Excellent pavlova to finish. Lovely service. Highly recommended.

We recently went for my dad's 70th birthday celebration meal with our family. The staff were so helpful in setting up decorations I had taken along so it was all ready for our arrival. There was 7 of us and the restaurant was busy but the staff were so attentive and friendly. Our starters arrived and they were really fresh. They came out piping hot too! Our mains arrived and everyone was so impressed, they looked amazing and the silence at the table was testament to how good they were! The ingredients were carefully selected and they were presented beautifully. All plates were enjoyed by everyone. We had some deserts and coffees to round things off. Coffee was also very good! I was pleasantly surprised over all with the whole experience at the marine and we will all definitely be back.

My son had gifted us a voucher to come to this restaurant hoping that it would be a lovely experience. Unfortunately, it was the opposite. Firstly, i had ordered the haddock croquettes as a starter and it was three balls of no taste and it was such a small portion compared to my other guests starters which was also not up to standard as we had expected. My husband also had ordered the prawn cocktail yet it was bland and only had one prawn, the rest being shrimp. Secondly, for my main course i had ordered the sea bass only for it to arrive with only the ends of the fish. It was just three miniscule fishtails, meaning there wasn't much fish to eat at all and it was basically the worst section of a fish considering their expensive prices. Overall, this meal was really discouraging but the staff were lovely and helpful which makes this sad to write.

Always our go to pub in Stonehaven, and not been for a very longtime. Good selection of beers, friendly atmosphere and highly recommended

Vista stupenda sul porticciolo turistico adiacente. Servizio in sala gentile disponibile e simpatico. Buona carta vini e birre. Prosecco, purtroppo, servito ad una temperatura non congeniale.

Lovely restaurant. Owned by a brewery so excellent beer selection. The food was very nice, relaxed atmosphere and service attentive and pleasant. Prices in line with what you would expect. Would recommend if you are in the area.

Oh dear. Used to be great, but can't even serve a pint of guiness (short and fizzy), and they tried to charge us twice!

Terrible service and not very welcoming. Our food took ages and when it did arrive the soup was cold. Not very friendly or apologetic. The bar smelt of stale beer.

This is like a tap house with a great choice of beers. And the food is very nice. It just feels like you belong there when you are just sitting relaxing.

The Beef Carbonade (Flemish Beef Stew) - was simply the best I have ever tasted. I have eaten beef bourguignon and various versions of Beef in Ale or Red Wine or Stout in a selection of places from local pubs to a number of Bistros in France even some expensive ones in Paris - but never tasted better. Incredibly tender and also full of flavour. Hats off to the chef. It was Sunday lunch - very busy - but all the staff were also very professional and on the ball. Fantastic experience

One night stay. Hotel was great, a really busy bar with a good atmosphere. Rooms were decent and clean. Only a continental breakfast option but it was adequate. We did not eat here but the restaurant was full. The staff were great. Definitely worth a visit. Hotel has great views over the harbour.

Fantastic setting, lovely restaurant, delicious food & staff service was 1st class. Smoked duck salad was lovely as was the other 5 starters .. main meals were just as good. Overall a very pleasant lunch & well worth the money.

Super restaurant ! L’emplacement est top, juste sur le petit port charmant. Avant de manger vous avez un bar au rdc pour prendre une petite biere en terrasse. Situato sul porticciolo di Stonehaven. Locale moderno e pulito. Staff cordiale, preparato e veloce. Ottimo cibo, ben preparato e ben presentato con porzioni soddisfacenti. Birra eccellente, ben consigliata dallo staff.

It’s a superb pub, hotel & restaurant overlooking the ancient harbour. However, I just find one of the greatest places for great bear. Wonderful atmosphere, great food but most importantly, the real ale is as good as it gets. We’ll kept, nice staff & a great choice.

We came as a family of ten. We were told once we arrived that there was a slight delay with food orders. We finally got starters and then we waited for an hr and a half for mains. This is totally unacceptable as one of my family is diabetic and had not had a starter. The restaurant upstairs was not full to capacity so can’t understand why the delay was so long. This is my first visit in a while and although the food was nice my brother in law had breaded fish whereas I had battered. He was disappointed when his fish was half the size of mine. I don’t enjoy leaving negative reviews but something has to be dealt with to ensure food orders are not delayed as long as this and to ensure portion size is the same for each individual

Die Überraschung des Schottland-Urlaubs: Direkt am kleinen Hafen von Stonehaven gelegen, unscheinbar daherkommend, mit Blick auf kleine Fischerboote, das bisherige Dinner des Urlaubs - im Marine-Hotel: saftiges, ja herausragendes Lamm, leckere Rosmarin-Soße, gedünstete Strauchtomaten. Kurz: Das Lamm war das Highlight. Die Kids waren mit der Pasta happy. Auch das Stew war klasse. Als Südafrika-Freunde gab es gar einen Chardonnay von Vergelegen aus Stellenbosch. Insgesamt passte die Preis-Leistung - ein toller Dinnerabend!

My wife and I stayed overnight in July 23. Our room overlooked the harbour and it was wonderful lying in bed listening to the water lapping on the beach. Dinner menu was excellent but my pork schnitzel was overcooked. When I mentioned it to the staff they apologised and we were not charged for it. I admire an establishment that admits a mistake. The bar was a delight with a fantastic selection of real ales. Breakfast next morning was Continental with really good coffee. All in all an enjoyable experience and we will definitely return next time we are in Scotland.

Had a few drinks in here yesterday. I noticed that they were showing golf on Sky Sports and the Scotland football match in the evening, so I came in tonight to watch either the cricket or football match (England). The TV wasn't on so I asked if they were showing either of the events. The guy behind the bar thought for a second and then said "no I don't think so" in a way that made me think ... Not for you. Given that many of the guests in this tourist spot are from England I would have thought they would be more keen to oblige requests from us neighbours. Apparently not. No reason offered.Later overheard a waiter muttering as he went back from serving customers "the things we are expected to do".

This is a great pub lock down or not. Had a very good system in place and felt very safe throughout. As usual the beer is 1st class and has no rival however the food ? £15 for fish and chips is not worth it. The fish is great but they still use oven chips and even a few peas would make a difference.

Covid secure, friendly helpful staff. Food well presented and acceptable price under “Eat Out to Help Out”. Local bread delicious. Not sure would want to pay full price. Stair access to restaurant but could eat in bar if problem.
