Absolutely amazing Italian! Had a fantastic meal last night to celebrate an anniversary and the food blew us away! Arincini starter was incredible. All at a very very good price. Will absolutely coming back and bringing friends.

Italian food made by an Italians best in Newport

Looks great, but I couldn’t go cause they’re cash only. Cash point down the road but didn’t have my card. No bad review from me, just thought you should know!

This is the most delightful small authentic Italian restaurant. Everything about the experience is delightful.

Small cafe / deli / restaurant. Equally simple menu, but well cooked. We booked and ordered ahead as we were a party of 11, no complaints at all.

An early Christmas meal with the other half. Marenghi's is a quintessential little Italian restaurant run by lovely people. We were looked after perfectly as always and the food was superb.

I recently visited Merenghi's for a delightful evening dining. The three-course meal was exceptional, and the wine selection added the perfect touch to the experience. I highly recommend trying the rum baba, as it was a delicious conclusion to the meal. The ambiance and service were equally impressive. I would definitely recommend this restaurant for a memorable dining experience.

Never knew about this amazing little family restaurant ,for meI found at perfect time,having to visit Beechwood surgery every day for nurse treatment, it became regular coffee and toastie morning ,always same excellent caring welcome,with now and again a wonderful pasta dish ,my introduction to proper Italian food cooked to perfection in front of me ,can't recommend this place enough ,so if it's not yet on your bucket list get it on there ,a very very satisfied customer thank you Mario and Chris

Love this place! Genuine Italian cooking, practically cooked before your very eyes, and as genuine as can be - and I am Italian born, bred and raised in Rome! - The owner is a charming, engaging man with a lifetime's experience in running his own restaurants, both, in Italy and here in Newport. I had the mushroom pasta, and it was mouth-watering, not too creamy, not too dry, flavoursome and filling. The carrot cake dessert, though not italian, was equally delicious. I can heartily recommend this place!

This was our first visit - and what a delight it was. A truly intimate 'hidden-away' experience. My wife is Italian American and we are both learning the language, so it was a treat to be able to chat with the owner Mario. The food and service were both fantastico! The prices are very reasonable and the menu is extensive. Altogether delicious and charming. Recommended!

We popped in here for lunch based on the excellent reviews, and were charmed - it's lovely to see a family-run restaurant serving delicious, very reasonably priced, food that's so clearly appreciated by its local community. We had a couple of bowls of pasta and really enjoyed them. Would definitely recommend a visit.

Don't be put off by the outside appearance - the food is fantastic. The service was excellent too and very reasonanble!

Went for a meal with my wife, as we had a gift voucher, never been there before, but what a surprise, the setting created an Italian atmosphere and the food was superb, the taste, the freshness and nice and light! We had a couple of bottles of wine, which complimented the food. Desert was really nice, I had the Rhubarb cheesecake, very light! We had a chat with the owner/Chef after and it was obvious the passion he has for cooking and was very welcoming. Can't wait to go again!

We are regulars to this little piece of Sicily in Newport and recently held an 80th birthday party here for 30+ people. Mario was as always very accommodating and helpful when organising times and the buffet menu. On the day the Italian food was beautiful and plentiful and kept on coming. Buffet included Salads, seafood salads, arancini, pasta’s, sauces, garlic mushrooms, fried chicken, various breads and cheeses etc etc. The service from Mario and Chris was superb and they responded to any request very patiently. The weekend evening menu is lovely my favourite cod with seafood and garlic sauce and pasta is delicious. Cannot praise Mario and Chris enough!

A lovely family run Italian restaurant

This restaurant is truly a delight! The most authentic Italian restaurant outside of Italy!!! We visited in January for a family birthday. It has been recommended to us and as it is very close to the family home we decided to give it a go. We were a party of 10 and despite some initial reservations as we had to pre-order and were told to bring cash only, we needn’t have worried we had a really lovely evening and cannot recommend the atmosphere & food enough! Chris and Mario are so accommodating and despite being busy took the time to greet us as if we were old friends. The other diners were almost all regulars, which speaks for itself! The food is EXCELLENT. We each had 3 courses and also ordered a selection of wine, beer, soft drinks spirits and coffee and the bill was under £30 a head and worth every penny! We even had a complimentary Limoncello(how very Italian) Chris made the process of pre-ordering very easy and even accommodated a drop out of our 11th member at the last minute at no charge. The atmosphere is homely and there are fresh and store cupboard products to purchase lined up nearly all over the restaurant. I am sure almost all diners must make a purchase or 2 before they leave! I will be taking a shopping bag next time! The ambience is truly continental. Thank you Chris and Mario, you have an absolute gem there!

Had a wonderful meal at Marenghis with my Dad. Had 3 courses, all super and really fab house wine too. The restaurant has a relaxed and friendly atmosphere that you don't find in chain Italians. Good food, good service and great prices!

In my very humble opinion the best coffee in Newport. Lovely cafe authentic feel, surrounded by every type of pasta in existence. Food is also very good, give yourself time as it's all freshly prepared. However, while you wait you can have some excellent Italian beer. Family run business.
