Nice location. Staff in restaurant bar was very unfriendly. Didn't acknowledge me. Carried on washing up and cleaning table when there was a queue at the bar. Took ages.

I read a few reviews before booking, with some mixed feedback - but I’m glad I went ahead and booked. Me and my partner dined here last night and it was brilliant from start to finish. The calamari as previously called “soggy” on other reviews was infact not soggy, it was lovely and the accompanying sauce was divine. We shared a bottle of pinot noir, again lovely and very affordable. For mains we had the chateaubriand, with sides of onion rings, spinach and peas. Great value for money, cooked perfectly, the sauces were amazing and the presentation was lovely. We dined in a booth, the tables were immaculately set and the staff well groomed and very professional. Our waiter was new, he was lovely, explained he was new to the role and we went at his speed. He communicated well, kept us informed about the arrival of our food and was a pleasure to deal with. His manageress was also a pleasure, very professional. We will absolutely be back, it’s by far the best meal we have eaten since relocating to Lincoln. Thank you

The waitress was lovely, the food not. My husband's lamb was tough, my fish off (I had to send it back). The chef was asked what he could produce quickly instead and suggested a burger. If I had wanted a burger I would have gone to McDonald's and probably had a better meal. The espresso coffee was very weak (also sent back). Very disappointing.

We had high expectations given the marketing and price. Sadly it was nowhere near good enough. The ribeye steak was like leather, the meantime beer tasted like there was some form of infection or dirty pipes and the there was no full bodied red wine by the glass. Service was confused with extra side dishes arriving that we hadn’t ordered. Poor. The olives were alright.

Shocking is the only way to describe this place. Only went for drinks but you wouldn't believe how bad the expresso martini was. Undrinkable, to the point I don't even know what they made it out of. Half the things on the drinks menu were unavailable. Expensive too. The only good thing you can say about it is it has great views.

Had dinner tonight at the Marco Pierre White Steakhouse in Lincoln. The setting, with its splendid views of the water juxtaposed against the direct and stark charm of a local car park, provided an oddly satisfying backdrop to an extraordinary meal. I decided to go mostly because of the name on the steakhouse. Marco Pierre White, is a culinary titan renowned all over the world for his intense passion and pioneering skills. As the youngest chef to earn three Michelin stars, his restaurants like Harvey's, The Restaurant Marco Pierre White, and The Oak Room are food folklore. I adore his stylish and fiery curmudgeon vibes and am acutely aware of his influence and mentoring of other chefs including Gordon Ramsay and Heston Blumenthal. I didn’t really watch him on Australian "MasterChef" but his role as a pivotal figure in global cuisine meant I thought on my one night in Lincoln, his name and brand earned him my time, money and focus. If you’re unfamiliar with the area, most of the water front is chains and while this is also some sort of franchised place, it was phenomenal. The steak was cooked perfectly to specifications. It was succulent and tender, the garlic prawns on top were delicious and elevated the dish with their flavours and presentation. The bearnaise sauce with the steak was very well done, and paired with the steak which was medium rare. The roast lamb was impeccable, the saltiness of the gravy provided a well considered balance. This dish shone exquisitely for me, it had a harmonious understanding of how to do right by the lamb, and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it to you. The sides we ordered were the cabbage and bacon, mac and cheese, and onion rings - these quintessential steakhouse staples were executed with finesse. The cabbage and bacon offered a delightful crunch and a smoky depth, the mac and cheese was a creamy, indulgent delight. The onion rings were golden and crisp and the sides added to and provided good flavour and textural contrast to the main meals. The Australian wines on the list were not our best offerings, by a long stretch, so we opted for the rosé, Pinot Noir, Shiraz, and Malbec by the glass offerings. Each paired well with our courses, enhancing the flavors as we chatted and enjoyed the meal. To conclude, we shared the Cambridge burnt cream, after I’d googled to read it is an English version of a crème brûlée. The presentation in the bowl was rustic, but it was delicious and was great to share. We paired it with a glass of port, and it was the perfect ending to a meal that proved the perfect ending to a long day. Definitely worth a visit if you find your way to Lincoln.

After staff showed us to our table the floor under our table was covered in food from the previous diner, the glasses were dirty I asked for clean glasses the replacements had lipstick residue around the rims, requested tap water and a bottle of red wine, after the staff member over filled the water glass the experience was rapidly becoming unpleasant having another member of staff asking if we would like to order drinks and informing him that after 10 minutes we were still waiting for the bottle of wine ,the cutlery was dirty and water stained. I had the beetroot and goat cheese salad as starters this looked lovely on the plate beetroot was overcooked and bland the goat cheese was nothing special a very disappointing choice. I also was close to tears when getting the sirloin steak that was tough even to cut with a steak knife full of gristle totally inedible a replacement was cooked but was nothing great to top it all the £26 steak was charged at £30 on the bill just to add insult to injury

We arrived on time for our 12.45 lunchtime reservation and waited almost 15 minutes to be seated even though they weren’t busy and only 2 tables were occupied. After we were shown to our table we were left some menus to browse and asked if we’d like a drink, I replied that we’d like to order a bottle of wine. The water we’d ordered arrived and we gave the waiter our wine choice but after 20 mins it had still not arrived. By then a waitress came to the table to take our food order and we asked where our wine was and she said she would chase it up. She returned 5 mins later and explained that they didn’t have the wine we had requested and offered a similar bottle, and we agreed to have that one instead. The starters eventually came and were very nice. My wife and I had both ordered the same main course which was the classic fillet steak with piccolo tomatoes and Koffmann chips but unfortunately that wasn’t what arrived, we had been served fillet steak with confit potatoes. The waitress apologised, and said no problem I will ask chef to do you some chips, and with that she disappeared! By the time she returned with the chips we had almost finished our steak! Foolishly we decided to order a coffee which took 15 minutes to arrive and I said to my wife , I bet the coffee was made 10 minutes ago and it’s sitting there getting cold! And guess what! All in all it was a terribly disappointing meal but it was mainly the service which let it down! It was a special occasion and we expected a bit more than we got for the money we paid.

Booked for mother's day online and required to pay in advance for the meal for 3. No issues with that as thought as a (perceived) quality chain there would be no issues. No restaurant location is its biggest asset, but unfortunately ruined by poor quality food. My wife's food (roast lamb) came out horrendously undercooked by anyone's standards and was more fat and gristle than meat. This meal was sent back with no alternative requested as she had now been put off eating. The manager was very apologetic and embarrassed seeing exactly what we were complaining about. It was agreed that a refund for her meal would be given, but as paid in advance (as had to for securing the booking) this couldn't be done on the day as "had to be actioned by accounts". 2 weeks later, still no refund and now not expecting one. In short, really disappointing experience. We had been looking forward to going here for a while and sadly won't be returning and could not recommend to others. Has real potential to be really good but fell woefully short.

Went for dinner on a special occasion. Ordered for medium rare steak, waited as usual for it to be cooked, then was given steak with blood on the plate. Supervisor checked with a Chef and given an explanation in writing " The spec for our steak for medium rare is 45 degree, and all steaks are triple tempreture checked" . We are not sure what standards are those. Acoording to steak tempriture chart, Great British Chef on line information and other literature, medium rare steak should be cooked at higher then 50 degrees. I expect no blood on my plate. They offered to reheat, but we decided to go home. What an eventful Valentine's meal!

Visited a few years ago based on the food and service at the Liverpool branch and was left waiting for so long for boot leather steak that we walked out. A few years later, and after another great experience at the Liverpool branch last night, I figured I’d give Lincoln another chance. I wish I hadn’t. Firstly the entire building was shaking, which made sitting comfortably impossible, then we discovered, after ordering food and drinks, that they’re out of Coke. When they returned to see which other drinks we would like we were told they’re out of the prawns we’d ordered. All of this should have been communicated to the waiting team BEFORE allowing customers to order. Do yourself a favour and try one of the many other restaurants in Lincoln. Nowhere else can possibly be as bad as MPW.

I went with a friend on a Groupon afternoon tea voucher. Great value, tasty food and we were never once made to feel as though we'd bought the 'cheap seats'. We had wine and a cocktail and the waiter said if there was anything that wasn't on the menu they'd try to make it up for us. He'd never heard of a lemon drop martini but had a great stab at making one. If the food had been awful, which it definitely wasn't, the service would have made up for it. We booked our table for 6 people at 7:45 pm. The staff were not attentive and we had to ask for a wine list and to place our orders. Overall the standard was not that expected at a restaurant bearing the name of renowned chef, Marco Pierre White, one of the reasons we booked in the first place. The most disappointing part of the whole experience was the fact that the main courses were all cold to the point that 5 of the 6 were returned to the kitchen uneaten. The salmon was so overcooked it was crispy on both sides. Whilst the waiter was very apologetic he did not make any offer of drinks whilst we waited for the meals to be redone. We finally got our main meals at 10pm and even then the onion rings that arrived with the steaks were only part cooked. We were not offered coffee or desserts at the end of the meal so at 10.30pm left the table and made our feelings known. We are not in the habit of complaining but left the restaurant totally disappointed with what was supposed to be a family reunion in a quality restaurant an absolute disaster. I am sure Mr White would be mortified to be associated with the level of food and service provided.

Looking at other reviews, I am almost certain that this won't go anywhere but at the very least I can warn others as I cannot stress this enough.. Don't go. This was a complaint that I sent to there email as advertised (restaurant@brayfordhotels.com) to no reply: On December 5th, my colleagues and I visited Marco Pierre White's Steak House for our work Christmas dinner. Being responsible for organizing the evening, I was committed to ensuring a delightful experience for everyone. After considering various options, I chose your restaurant because of the appealing Festive Menu and the enticing offer of a complimentary cocktail when booked before a specific date, as prominently advertised on your website. I made the reservation in October. Needless to say, the staff claimed that they knew nothing of the advertisement and denied us a complimentary cocktail. I was made to feel as though I was lying. This theme of the staff not knowing what was going on carried through the evening. On the morning of the event, I called to confirm the numbers and menu selections, specifically the Festive Menu, which Becky (the lady I spoke with) confirmed as all set. However, upon our arrival with my 17 colleagues, we were informed that there was no festive menu available due to an unexpected change in the food delivery. Dawn mentioned that she had tried to inform me of this over the phone, but to my surprise, I had not received any missed calls, and this crucial information could have been communicated during our morning conversation to which I could have made alternative arrangements. To add to the frustration, the party was split into two tables dividing the conversation which was completely unnecessary. The people that had the streak were disappointed given that it was tough and overcooked. For a restaurant with steak in its name you should expect them to at least that well. What you get is an old boot with a £30 price tag. This place needs an overhaul of management and kitchen staff, but ultimately its Marco who's name is on the sign - I'm sure he's a man of high standards and this place is far from it! Do something about it.

It appears our experience was very similar to the last few reviews. On arrival, we were greeted and sat down at a lovely table by the window. Gorgeous views of the castle and cathedral. Our orders were taken quite quickly but the food took so long to be served. The restaurant was less than half full but it felt like it was packed out - with the amount of time taken. The starters were delicious. 2 of us opted for the Caeser salad whilst my husband had the French onion soup and our son had the prawn cocktail. The wait for the mixed meat roast was far too long. And then when it came, it was luke warm. No, we didn’t complain. We had a friend with us and due to it being quiet, we didn’t make a fuss. The food was plentiful and the 3 meats were proper pieces of pork, chicken and beef - not just thin slices. As we’d been in there for over 2 hours and the car park was expiring, I had to request our desserts were served immediately after our mains. Fortunately, they weren’t too long and I thought worth waiting for. My husband wasn’t keen on the crumble, to powdery. My son enjoyed the cheesecake - that was all cheese and very little cake (his words). Not a complete disaster but we had travelled a fair distance and weren’t overly impressed. Expected more from the name. The service lets it down.

Emmm, not the best experience. Obviously the restaurant having the name and reputation it does sets an expectation but my partner and I felt our expectations weren't met. Our food orders were taken, my partner asked if the main meals were 50% off referring to our two steak orders as mentioned in the January deal that was posted in the elevator and on the website, and the waitress said yes and didn't mention anything about our two "main" orders not being included in the "main meals" they deemed suitable. We waited about 5 minutes for drinks which was too long in my opinion considering there were only 2 other tables in the restaurant who had already been seen to and our order consisted of two small bottles to be taken out of the fridge. I also got given the wrong bottle which was a full fat coke when I asked for diet coke, and the waitress had even double checked earlier that it was a diet coke so I was a bit surprised. I joked to my partner that I was eating a steak and fancied a pudding later so what was the harm in a full fat coke and didn't mention it. The bottles were expensive for their miniature size but we expected it so not a shock. I think there were a total of 3 members of staff who were classed as servers however apart from the guests, the room was empty 95% of the time which didn't feel the best in my opinion. The starter was very tasty, we shared the sourdough bread and butter and both enjoyed it however the mains were served before we'd even finished, must have been about 10 minutes. I know others may complain about the mains being served a while after the starters, however it felt like we were being rushed. Can't please everyone I suppose. I'd quickly finished my bread by the time the waiters came back with the sides, and yet our starter plates weren't taken away, so the table felt very crowded. I very quickly called out to the waiter (maybe chef?) and he slightly turned towards to me yet still rushed off into the kitchen, I felt ignored. Furthermore, the wine glasses that clearly weren't being used hadn't been taken away, which is something we usually expect, so we asked the waitress to take them away. By the time we settled and were about to dig into our food, we realised we hadn't been given any steak knives. We found this a bit comical in a steakhouse. Yet again, nobody in sight, a good 5 minutes had passed before we caught one of the waitresses who was passing through. We were a bit annoyed but the food was still hot and looked really good so didn't think too much of it. Food was really nice, steaks were good yet we have had better (Tomahawk steakhouse in Darlington if anybody is interested) so no wow factor, tomatoes and onion rings were good, chips were mega, however my peas were undercooked and hard. I didn't bother mentioning them and seeing what anyone could do as there was nobody in sight and I'd had worse so ate what I could. We waited a while for someone to take our plates away, and when they were finally collected we weren't even asked if the food was okay/if we enjoyed it, just straight to asking if we wanted dessert. We hadn't had a single check up through any of the courses either, and I didn't clock anybody else being asked. (Only two other tables and I'm an observant person). We asked for the bill, that took a while, when it arrived we noticed there wasn't 50% off our mains and that was when we were introduced to the misunderstanding of the offer that didn't include steaks, which was apparently mentioned on the poster, yet it wasn't when we checked on the way out. My partner was more frustrated that we had specifically asked and were given the impression we would recieve the discount. The waiter said he'd inquire something and disappeared. More time passed, we decided to head to the desk when a lady appeared. She had very nicely provided us with the discounts, which I felt guilty about considering it shouldn't have applied to us but by this point I'm disappointed at the lack of service and just want to leave. My partner pointed out the £8+ service charge which we had previously commented on, said he would pay it however didn't think it was earned and listed the reasons why, making it clear he just wanted to provide some feedback. The lady at the desk brushed it off, no apology (not that we expected anything else, however I work in hospitality and a simple "i'm very sorry about your experience" would be nice) she just said "oh, okay", didn't look up at us from the computer or anything, it baffled me, seemed like she didn't care in the slightest. I was starting to see a pattern amongst everyone. Please know the 3 stars is for the food being tasty and served with good time yet still didn't have a wow factor unfortunately. Definitely won't be returning, which is a shame as the setting/room was nice and had a romantic touch, and we think a lot of the Marco Pierre chain.

despite a few negative reviews on here, as a experienced chef myself this place is not one to miss! our server Jon was excellent, very knowledgeable about the menu and very kind. the food was impeccable. we opted for the roast chicken à la forestieŕe and roast lamb à la dijonniase. meats were perfectly cooked and fondant potatoes to die for. 10/10 food, 10/10 service. we shall be returning

Came for our Christmas Day meal this year. The food was good and they had a violinist playing which was a nice touch however the service was poor. Expensive bottles of wine were plonked down on the table and not poured (despite charging a service charge on top of the main bill), asked for bottled water, received tap. A cupcake “gift” was presented mid meal to take home, which turned out to be so dry it was inedible. Coffees arrived lukewarm. You had to queue standing in the entrance to pay the bill at the end of the meal, which took about 10 minutes. For a meal that worked out at over £150 per head - it just wasn’t the service you’d expect and you were left feeling robbed and disappointed.

Top floor restaurant in the centre of Lincoln with a view of the car park and the adjacent building rather than the waterside. Leading on from a very lively, crowded, alcohol-fuelled cocktail/wine bar (with a view of the waterside). The front of house staff were really charming and helpful, the atmosphere was a bit sterile (picked up later with office outings). A bit disappointed that my partner's choice of wine was unavailable (none ready chilled). The starters (old-fashioned prawn cocktail and scotch egg - with a perfectly soft centre) were delicious we were looking forward to the mains. The mains were disappointing, to say the least. The pork escalope and the house burger were both dry and unappetising we were hungry and our table was time-limited, so we ate these rather than sending them back. We did not stay for dessert. The most disappointing thing was the shocking state of the toilets - both male and female. In the mens' there was wet paper from both the rolls and the hand towels all over the floor. There were soggy hand towels in all the urinals, there were urine splashes around the toilets themselves. This was 18 35, the last check signature on the board was 13.35. My partner told me the ladies' was just as bad, with an additional problem in that the toilet flushing mechanisms didn't work, last checked/cleaned at 13.00-13.35. We raised our concerns with the management. The duty manager seemed shocked, and offered profound apologies. He did not offer a reduction in the bill, which was over £70.00. The state of the toilets was probably linked to the fact that they were shared with the wine bar which was packed with customers, who were both loud and very merry. This is no excuse for omitting regular cleaning checks though. Poor marks for the Hotel, the bar and the restaurant. We have often thought about visiting PMW restaurants elsewhere, but no longer!

A wonderful experience from start to finish, the staff are knowledgeable on the menu and can confidently recommend dishes to your preferences. I was greeted and waited on by i think Dawn the restaurant manager, she was fantastic. Each and every part of the food was exactly how I expected it to be SUPERB, I followed Dawns recommendation on both food and wine to match, and a perfect match it was I Highly recommend visiting this restaurant

Nice atmosphere and the service was good too. We ordered a Martini which was not very nice but the glass also came half full. This restaurant is well over priced. The steak was chewy. Only a steak and a small portion of chips on your plate. If you want any veggies or any sides you have to pay extra. The quality of the meat and what you get is 100% not worth the money. The chips was nice.

DECENT FOOD, SLOW SERVICE! Tried MPW Lincoln for the first time on Sunday for a Sunday roast with my Mum as a treat. The food was decent but the service was slow to the point of being almost none existent. It took 2 1/2 hours from start to finish. Not because we were having a rip roaring time but rather we were waiting for ages for any service. Drinks that had been ordered were missed and had to be chased up on two occassions. Condiments that should have been served with the meats, horseradish (beef) apple (pork) were missed and had to be asked for. Plates and cutlery were not taken away if they weren’t used or after the first course. The level of service was shocking… one waiter didn’t even know where the toilets were. I expected more of a restaurant bearing MPW’s name but apparently, looking back through other reviews, similar issues have been raised over the years and it’s clear nothing has been done to improve it. It’s a shame because the food was decent. I won’t be in a rush to return.

Very disappointing steak, especially for 26 gbp. Which is a shame as the previous 3 visits the quality of the food had been good. Also when we advised the lovely waitress at how disappointing the meal was, we were offered a free drink. Which we declined, no body from the kitchen or management came to ask what was wrong. I had the steak which was awful.

We booked a table at the restaurant during our recent stay. The reservation was for a Thursday evening for a party of 4. We were all disappointed with the overall experience, the service was very slow, even though there were very few diners, the food was ok but not any better than a large franchise restaurant nearby, so overpriced for what was served. The most disappointing though was that the restaurant was presented in exactly the same manner as it was for breakfast. We later learned that had we booked for a Friday or Saturday night the restaurant would have looked more like the photos others have posted with crisp white tablecloths on the table and more in keeping with our expectations. Disappointing that diners on Monday to Thursday nights are not considered worthy of the effort, needless to say we won't book again. I'm sure this is not what any self respecting restauranteur wants to hear but sorry M. Pierre White, on this occasion, your restaurant failed to deliver.

I haven’t reviewed anywhere in quite a while but I feel there is a fair amount of discourse about the quality of MPW Lincoln. From my personal experience, I was pleased, if you’ve got the cash in your pocket I think it’s definitely a viable option definitely if you’re wanting a steak. I opted for the goats cheese salad that is seemingly very popular and the steak au poivre. The goats cheese salad was very light and tasty. It was only 3 main things, candied walnut, beetroot and goats cheese. Simple and actually very nice, earthy beetroot with quite a creamy goats cheese. Offset with the walnut, the sweetness was a really nice addition. The steak - about as good as you can get, medium rare fillet with some lovely mushrooms which came together really well in the peppercorn sauce. I couldn’t get the sourdough with a knife and fork so just had to go in with my fingers, and admittedly it was very nice, I would’ve had no objection to a tomato on my plate but it is no deal breaker. I think both dishes were made of classic elements executed very well and for that I am absolutely pleased. Though there is a couple of counters which may be deal breakers for many, justifiably so. Portion and price, even with a starter unless you’re going for all 3 courses, it isn’t enough food if you’re hungry. And a stinger the massive price, whatever you anticipate to pay you will undershoot. I found it very easy to add massive extras to the bill.. sit down and accidentally spend £5.50 on water when they ask “do you want water” and then a weird encouragement to add extras to the already exorbitantly expensive mains. I went with another person, we both had water, I had a starter and they didn’t.. £75! Admittedly you can waive the service fee but it can often feel wrong especially when service really is quite good and they’re very attentive. But if you want to spend big it is definitely highly enjoyable in my mind. Staff undeniably very attentive, I hear mixed reviews of this but in my visit they were very good. Overall. Impressively enough I don’t feel ripped off, undeniably it was massively expensive and you can feel a bit silly paying hand over fist but it is massively pleasurable and despite being undersized the cooking and ingredient are top end, at least in Lincoln. Would I recommend? Yes. Under the condition that if you fully commit to a 3 course meal.. even if you share a bottle of water it’s around £50pp+. Definitely get a steak, obviously I haven’t tried the entire menu but to me the burgers looked a little sad and I think everything else didn’t sound hugely enticing. It’s a steak house and they definitely know how to cook a steak. I liked the venue too, nice place and the electric bar is nice to stop in as well. Being high up is not as exciting as it may look but I like it. I think I will go again.
