Went here as a final meal of our holiday. We have eaten all over the world and we have to say that our meal this evening was out of this world. The flavours were simply glorious. The service was brilliant as well. Italian food doesn’t get better than this. Thank you for making our evening wonderful !!!

Our first visit. Nice restaurant with warm ambiance. Service was attentive and friendly. Food was very nice - substantial! No complaints from us.

We visited on Saturday night for dinner and it was fantastic. The food was incredible. The staff were all very friendly and the service was great. I would return. 10/10

Had a really good full English breakfast here.

Phoned at short notice to book a table for lunch. My wife and I visited with our dog. We had a warm greeting and were even given a gravy bone (our dog was also given a treat...) Our server was excellent and attentive from the off. We ordered 2 pizzas and some fries for the table. Food arrived in a good amount of time. The pizzas were great - really good value for money, with superb amounts of toppings, cooked to perfection. The fries were cooked just how we like them as well. We finished with some chocolate and lemon cannolis - superb. Overall atmosphere and ambience was lovely and relaxing. We can't wait to come back (neither can Hugo the cockapoo) Thank you!

Great find on a Tuesday lunchtime for something to eat. Staff were very friendly, food was great (pizzas definitely better than somewhere else nearby...) and the place itself definitely gives off smaller and more intimate vibes. Would happily recommend and will be back!

My parents introduced me to this amazing restaurant when I was visiting . The food is delicious and the atmosphere warm and welcoming with the added bonus of being dog friendly . I would highly recommend and can’t wait to visit again when I’m next in Devon

I don't normally score down a business but I can't let anyone else fall for it this place is quite pricey although cheap for topsham when I goto an Italian restaurant for a meal I expect fresh pasta this place is nothing but packets of dried pasta and you can see them on the shelves from the restaurant which makes it even more blatant

What a great new find for breakfast! Nice atmosphere, coffee was good and very tasty poached eggs with Salmon on toast. Good portion size and nice service, plus allowed my dog in! highly recommend

Visited Marcello’s after seeing all the good reviews on here, but left feeling rather underwhelmed. The food was *OK*. The menu was rather basic. The service wasn’t great. The restaurant itself was very cold & lacked any atmosphere despite being in a really niche building & nicely decorated. Overall it was a disappointing experience, but it has the potential to be incredible.

We had the quattro stagione and the mushroom and goat’s cheese pizzas. Absolutely excellent. Delicious, crisp but not overcooked, base and fresh toppings. Desserts were ice cream and a couple of the cannoli - these were chewy with creamy hazelnut and pistachio cream fillings. Service was friendly and helpful. It’s only a small place so probably best to book, but they also do takeaway.

One starter was burnt and inedible. Expensive for average quality.

Lovely food and cheerful service

I took Sarah and my daughters out for a meal here on Saturday, one of my daughters birthday treat, and the best Italian Restaurant yet. Homemade ingredients the best pasta yet, great service and atmosphere, just perfect.

Visited for a birthday meal. When booking we were advised that there was a large party booked that evening and we were given to option to dine before them. The staff were very pleasant and knowledgeable. The food was amazing. Haven’t been for years before this and we’ve been missing out that’s for sure.

A most delightful eatery in Topsham

Our first time here having moved to Topsham and every bit as good as we had been told. Food was superb, service good, ambience very good. Will definitely return.

A good local restaurant, with friendly efficient service. Pleasingly short menu of unpretentious pasta, pizza and delicious desserts, though noise level can be high when full of happy diners!

Amazing food, one of my favourite Italian restaurants in Devon, with friendly owners and great service.

Having visited half a dozen places trying to find somewhere with an allergen menu which didn't need the internet, we chanced upon Marcello. The waitress said that everything could be made gluten free. I had plate envy for the traditional pizza our neighbours were eating. Now, gluten free Italian pizza when eating out is a holy grail. So I was quite disappointed to be told the waitress had made a mistake, and it was all the pastas which were gluten free. On the plus side: there was an unusually large range of pasta (I had linguini) and it was an excellent gf pasta (I use Rummo at home), and the sauce was amazing.

Ate here on a Friday evening with my husband. Gorgeous food, excellent service and a lovely restaurant. We will definitely go back

My top choice in Topsham at the moment, but don't expect to finish a pizza unless you are very hungry (they'll pack the rest for you to take home!).

Myself and my partner had a wonderful meal at Marcello, we shared a couple of starters and 2 pasta dishes from the specials board. It was all really tasty and great value for money. The service was great and the restaurant had a really nice atmosphere, can’t wait to go back!

Visited Marcello’s on a Saturday evening with friends, we were disorganised and had a couple of friends running late but is was no issue for the fabulous staff who kept us happy with drinks and olives until our food was ready. As 1 friend was very late they took her order immediately once she arrived and managed to get her food out within a couple of minutes so we all got to eat together. We had a mixture of pasta dishes and pizza, vegan diet catered for and it was all delicious.

Lovely little find of a restaurant. Friendly, happy staff which seems to be rare these days. We both had pasta dishes which were really tasty and hot. Will definitely be back.

Met a friend for lunch on a very cold day and wanted a substantial lunch to warm us up. The pasta is really good and we both very much enjoyed the lunch. The only drawback is the door, which doesn't close when someone comes in or out - so repeatedly it let the freezing air in, despite the waitress doing her very best.

Located on Topsham High Street, Marcello looks small but also has seating upstairs. Staff attentive and food very good. Will return!

The Bistro sadly needs refining. I think the Lavazza coffee is ground too coarsely resulting in a thin taste. Also they only had tea cake- which for a Saturday morning was poor planning. In fairness to them, it looked like they served a good eggs...

Genuinely the worst 'Italian' restaurant we've ever visited by a country mile. Absolutely nothing my family ordered was in any way 'authentic',, Carbonara was completely inedible, basically Pasta and warm cream yet there is no cream in Carbonara. Staff were slow, disinterested and seemed not to care when given feedback. We left having eaten less than half our meals.

Awful food over priced the service was good but the wood was very very poor. The carbonara was tasteless the meatballs are cheap tasting and quite frankly awful. I’ve had better tasting ready meals. Don’t understand how it’s still open as far as Italians go it’s the worst meal I’ve had.

Very quick service, helpful waitress and nice food. My Spaghetti Carbonara was yummy but my husband's pizza had a nice base but the topping felt a bit cheap. And there was no tiramisu :-( . Overall a nice meal. Thank you:-)

Food was Ok. Not great, just ok. On arrival the table next to us walked out due to poor service and we weren't acknowledged for some time. Service was slow, food was slower. Table next to us made a lengthy complaint about food and delay. We just paid, left and won't be back.

Booked a table for 7 here on a Saturday for a quick meal with friends before a party. The service and food was great (particularly the crab linguine). Nice interior too.

We visited for the first time on Wednesday evening it was very last minute. The food was ok, we may visit again but in the summer we couldnt leave quick enough as the restaurant was very cold so much so the family across from us kept their coats on, this was because the door was constantly being opened but it couldnt be helped as they have tables upstairs. It lacked atmosphere and the service was very rushed.

We had takeaway pizza, and it was good, and we'd buy again. The bar is quite high for pizza these days so I'm reluctant to give five stars. If I were going to nit pick, I'd say: - good crunchy bottom on the base but I'd prefer it a little thinner - a lot of cheese on top, maybe too much, completely hiding the tomato - would have liked more toppings. We made our own by asking for an extra topping on a margherita. I would have liked triple the amount of toppings.

Great service and really enjoyed the dishes we had (we each had a starter and a main). We came here as it was one of the few local places to offer more than one veggie option! Staff struck the right balance of being attentive but not rushing us and there was a nice atmosphere. We were slightly disappointed there wasn't more on offer for dessert, but quite honestly we probably wouldn't have had room anyway. Would definitely visit again.

Hello, I went on line, checked the restaurant website and booked a table. All good up to when I went to restaurant and realised that the lights were off. Long term closure following a fire apparently.

The starters were lovely, the mains equally as nice but sadly we were so full by this point we couldn't do puddings! Our daughter (5) asked for some paper and the waitress got her an ordering pad which she then played waitressing whilst we waiting for the meal. The whole family enjoyed the meal. This is not a cheap chain restaurant so you pay a bit more but well worth it. Thanks again.

It isn't often I decided to leave a review of a local place but felt this time it was very worthy of one. We decided to go to Marcello as fancied trying somewhere new and didn't want typical 'pub grub'. It didn't disappoint and we were really glad we came. We took our 3 year old daughter which was just fine (some nicer places sometimes give disapproving looks when you walk in with a toddler) and she was able to share our food. We had the fillet steak, the pizza and meatballs starter and they were all really delicious. All tasted and looked very fresh and were super tasty. When the steak arrived I asked if it came with sauce as i couldn't remember and was told that it didn't but it was no trouble to make something for me. I didn't think it was necessary though but the offer was appreciated. The staff seemed to care so genuinely about us having everything we needed which just isn't the case in the majority of places anymore. I'd highly recommend eating here for sure. Reasonable prices, delicious food and wonderful service! Win :-)

Friendly staff, but v slow service. Paid £14 for a pizza. However the base of the pizza was clearly not freshly made in house and it tasted very much like a supermarket bought pizza.

We hadn't visited Marcello for a long time despite living nearby in Topsham but had such an enjoyable meal last week that we felt we needed to write a review. Our lasagne and prawn linguine (and bottle of rose) were all totally delicious...service great and bill very reasonable. We will definitely be making a return visit in the near future.

While in Devon on holiday we chose Marcello's for a family meal to celebrate my 60 th birthday. They were very accommodating as we had two prams with small babies with us and they seated us so we could fit the prams in easily.The menu was fairly limited but this was a positive thing because the food was obviously freshly cooked and tasty. I had the prawn linguine and it was really rich and tomatoey and yummy. Others had risotto, crab linguine, and pizza and everyone enjoyed their food. The only small criticism is that the portions of risotto were a little on the small side.Deserts were also tasty. There was tiramisu, panna cotta and a chocolate fudge cake and everyone enjoyed their choices. Definitely worth a visit.

Mi hermano y yo cenamos en Marcello el miércoles pasado. A pesar de llegar unos minutos después de las nueve (últimas órdenes) nos recibieron con una recepción muy cálida. Los dos pedimos pizza y compartimos una botella de vino tinto. La pizza estaba perfectamente preparada y muy sabrosa. El menú ofrece una buena variedad de comida tradicional italiana y vino a un costo razonable. Disfrutamos mucho de nuestra noche.

Well the stars have to go this way : Food : 4,5 stars Atmosphere: 2 stars Service : 3 stars. Clean : 3 stars. The food , great ! Both Pizza and pasta dishes very tasty. We ordered 5 dishes , one was forgotten, Half way through ordered a drink, never arrived. The place was packed and only one waitress had to do everything so I think they need more staff, she was trying her best but couldn’t pull it through. The atmosphere is not great , you can see the wallpaper coming off the walls and the cleaning of toilets and doors and windows could be better. If you only care about the food , highly recommended.

No habíamos reservado, pero nos acomodaron en una noche de sábado. Tuvimos la penne delle casa y la pizza Quatro Stagioni. La pizza era buena. Se dijo que el penne tenía gorgonzola en la salsa, aunque lo dudo mucho. Tampoco mucho pollo o pimientos. Obviamente, la comida se cocina en el local, como dice el sitio web, cambiaron fácilmente un par de ingredientes para nosotros.

Interior rústico, pero no dejes que eso te desanime. No la plétora habitual de opciones de menú. Toda la comida está recién preparada, así que no espere que aparezca en un instante. Mi esposa tenía linguini de cangrejo, tuve pollo siciliano. Calidad / sabor tan bueno como el que hemos tenido en un restaurante italiano durante años. A un precio razonable, y una excelente relación calidad-precio. Muy recomendable.

Fantastic service, brilliant food, very reasonable prices

Lovely food in Topsham. I had the butterfly chicken. Came with a tasty sauce. A bit of a wait for it to arrive. For starters I had calamari. After reading recommendations. And it did not disappoint. Best calamari I have had in England.

Great place with welcoming staff. My wife and I had a fantastic 3 course meal with some great wine. Would definitely return
