My family and I have been using mapperly fryer for years, food is great, they are always so lovely to us and kind to our daughter, will always use them!

I always every Friday order my usual, which is a Large dinner kebab in naan and large chips. It’s lovely. I look forward to having this and we are alway received well with fantastic service. My daughter often come with me and they always smile, very friendly and give her chips on a stick which she loves and remembers ☺️

Took out dirty kebab meat out of a dirty bucket of water then microwaved it, wouldn’t surprise me if it was made from a stray cat

Ordered a doner wrap, the guys pulled doner meat out of a dirty tub and stuck it in a microwave. Dirty place never going back shame as I live local

Food gave me food poisoning and it came freezing cold and the manger was really rude over the phone don't recommend this dirty place scam I wish I could post a picture up

Prices are very expensive for what you receive I had 《3》large chips and 2 of them were for me as 1 large doesn't fill a kid let alone a grown up. Large was in a medium container. If you want more customers either drop the price or give bigger portions was nice but very small portions compared to other chippy's. I understand prices going up but nearly £5 a bag of chips??? Which intherey probably cost like 50p from a sack of spuds be responsible were on a budget 2

Sorry to say, but these were the worst chips I've ever had. They were chewy and look like they'd been reheated. The gravy was just like brown water with the occasional lump. Really really dissapointing.

Bought kebabs and chips in person from the shop, live 5 mins away, get home and the meat is freezing cold. I don’t usually have to warm up kebab when I visit chip shops. Horrible experience

The food was disgusting, I ordered chips cheese gravy and mushy peas with a battered sausage, the gravy was watery, chips were soggy, the sausage was absolutely tiny lol!!! I ordered a small but my god it was tiny!!! The only thing that was nice about this was the mushy peas 🥲

Literally the worst chips I’ve ever tasted, half cooked chips, charged me £17.00 for chips and cheese x2 .. the chips were raw in the middle and there wasn’t enough cheese for even 1 person never mind 2. Called to discuss, they’re not interested!

Because I've been a customer for a while, they obviously now think I'll accept anything and give it a thumbs up....WRONG! The food they delivered tonight in 13 minutes was obviously not fresh, the chips had obviously been cooked the day before and refried. If this is what they can do to a regular customer, imagine what they can Palm off on others. Avoid this place, I've learned a very hard lesson 🤮👎

Been going to here for years. My gran used to go here, it's a local establishment. The owners are lovely and really welcoming. The food is great and I'll be back again 👍🏼

I don't normally leave reviews but the food was 45 minutes late which yes that can happen, as long as it's hot I'm happy and it was.. but my burger bun was mouldy and blue on the bottom and i didn't notice until i ate half! Made me feel sick and put me off my whole order!! I did post this on just eat but they only shown the stars and not my review, even ignored my phone calls!

Rip off 8 pound for a doner kebab that would not fill a kid

Oh dear, have been using this chippy for over 20 years, though hadn't been for a while. Prices have rocketed since our last visit, which is understandable however they have obviously changed fish supplier as it was truly awful I'm sad to say. Didn't taste of fish and was a strange mushy texture, much like a number of white fish squashed together, no flaky-ness at all. Such a shame as the chips and batter were lovely, this used to be the best chippy around, but we won't be back.

Had me waiting 28 minutes to cook a soggy poor quality sloppy fish. Very overpriced for the standards you receive. Will most certainly not be returning.

Epic kebabs I'd give 6/5 stars if it was possible. Also they're nice people and are easy to talk to. Nothing bad to say about the place at all as I've never had an experience that was anything other than epic 1

One of the best fried chicken I’ve had in a long while. The service hygiene standard was perfect. The chicken was exactly how we requested. It wasn’t bruised n battered. Respect to Mapperley fryers. From “Charles (son) and mother (perky) lol keep you the good work.

They do the best fish and chips. Very friendly staff.

I’ve ordered here for so long, I think we’re classed as ‘regulars’ - ordering again tonight so thought I’d leave another review. We order via JE and it’s always great, quick and hot. (Just how I like many things). I think it’s important to support local businesses who do it right consistently and these guys and girls do. I do however have to go to the gym every day because of this place!!!

Ridiculous nearly 7 quid for a hand size kebab ripped off never again

Ordered via just eat - came quickly, nice delivery driver, and food was good too. So much easier than driving to the chippy and waiting in the queue! 😊

Been going here for the past 5 years excellent service from the start, the new staff are welcoming great choice of food selection. Reasonable prices for food and also great taste in quality and freshness. I normally get everything ranging from there fish and kebabs to pizza (new addition). Delivery is very aswell so food is hot and fresh.

Doner meat was good, chips that came with it looked like scraps but were eadible. Pizza supposed to be with double pepperoni and stuffed chrust-you can get more pepperoni on plain pepperoni pizza in other places and stuffed crust was unfortunately undercooked inside. What was the worst, ive ordered 2 large cups of sauces - chilli one was okay but what was supposed to be garlic mayo, it was absolutely disgusting, tasted like some chemicals and im not gonna be describing what else. Absolutely filthy. Avoid the sauces, get a kebab. Kebab was fine.

Burger was wet on the bottom and food just wan't great. There are beter takeaways in the local area.

I would have given this chippy a 4/5 star rating before covid and for almost 15 years of me visiting the store, but since the long running owners have left it has gone down hill to a point of no return. Avoid this shop. Soggy chips, and oil that is old or burnt to taste. Terrible portion of curry sauce and today I was double charged by the pdq machine, I'm done here and will not spend any more money here. Heed my warning

Food was average to good, service exceptionally poor on a quiet night.

Excellent food and quick, friendly service. We've regularly visited for 11 years and have never had a bad experience.

Never had bad food from here, proper chippy... Homemade curry and chips is an amazing winter warmer!

Man just came back from delivery started slicing up kebab meat ..didnt even wash his hands ..id stay well away ..the lovely couple that were here have retired

Currently has a food hygiene rating of 1 out of 5. Would steer clear until changes have been implemented.

Would not recommend chicken kebab meant full of gristle lack of source and all food was leaking of Greece when took out of the bag chips where cold and was inedible and would like a refund as we could not eat any of it

First chippie i've tried in Nottingham. Will take some beating!

Ordered food on just eat and waited for over an hour just for them to cancel our order nearly 10 minutes after the delivery was supposed to arrive. Terrible terrible service and they could have at least alerted us to any problems they encountered as they had our contact number.

Fish n chips and battered sausage were great! Not greasy at all. Would reccomend and will go again.

Small, plain premises, but great menu choice, friendly service and always fresh. From just chips, fish, burgers and doner in a variety of ways, never disappointed here. One of the best around and always my first choice for chippy takeaway.

Just been bought two large kebabs woman inside sold me regulars for large price

Had some very tasty stuff from this joint. Slippy fish and salty ends. You know the best bits in a plastic bag! What more do you want really? "That's going right in" is what he said when he peeled back the wrapper! Also you can go down the hill to a really jolly place called the grumpy corner club! I reccomend the selection of sunscreens they sell there.

Found 3 beard hairs in my kebab this was few years ago and never been since. if got a beard should wear a hair net onit.

Good food have used many of times.

Not the greatest food in the area. Spam fritter was from the small domestic tins and not the catering tins. Nothing had any batter on it as they obviously dont use rice flour before dipping the food in the batter mix. The only half decent comment I can make is the chips werent bad. Oh!, it took an hour and a half to be delivered.....

deb my food was ok, edible at least. unfortunately the same cannot be said for my husbands. before we got home to unpack our food he expressed his concern that the kebab meat was held in water. he was right to be concerned. it was inedible, cold and rubbery. ended up as dog food. wont be going back and would not recommend. steer clear of the kebab if you do decide to give it a go

The menu is inaccurate, the staff are rude and the delivery drivers are completely remiss! Poor customer service, don't bother! The fish looks like something you have thrown up!!! Curry sauce and chips are the only good thing

Nearly 4 quid for the smallest portion of fish and chips I've ever seen and some watery gravy. Not somewhere I would use again or would recommend to anyone else.

We are regulars. Lovely fish and chips and great kebabs. Also the usual range of chip shop staples; pies, sausages etc. And best of all, battered mushrooms. Staff are friendly, food is good, prices are good. We look forward to our regular Friday fish and chips from here.

Food can be hit and miss. Wish they would change the batter as it dose not look nice at all and the size of the large fish is more a small

Always beautiful fried , chips , fish , big tasty chunky portion's of ribs succulent is the right word , curry's speciality , chicken & doner kebab's & does a delivery service too .. situated on mapperley top , all of his staff & him & his partner go the extra mile , as their aim is to please , there's not many quality fish & chip shop's in the nottinham area .. but he is one of them.
