I took my friends who were visiting from abroad to Mandarin. I went many years ago and the food was amazing. This time I went I was extremely disappointed. We arrived at 7pm, the place was pretty much empty, there was a total of 2 other tables in for dinner. The service was extremely slow, if they were rushed off their feet I would understand. By the time we had ordered from the menu, it took 30 mins for the starter to come out, we had the mixed starter, the chicken satay which one of my friends couldn’t eat as it was too spicy for them, the sesame prawn toast which wasn’t great, spare ribs which were tasty, vegetable spring rolls where there was a lot of Indian herbs used, and then the seaweed which was extremely salty. By the time we had finished our starters it took yet another 30 mins to get our mains. The only thing that was nice was the rice, all the other dishes were horrendously bad, we had beef in oyster sauce, which didn’t taste anything like it should and again was extremely salty, we also had a couple of roast pork dishes, one was too fatty and the other one was over cooked. Unfortunately all of us weren’t very well, friends used the bathroom a couple of times whilst we were there. Staff were shy but ok. The chef who came out was very warm, apologetic and caring. The drinks/cocktails were amazing. We only paid for the food that was edible and the drinks. I will not be coming back here in the future.

Situated near Northwood Hills roundabout, parking was available outside in surrounding streets. On reading the latest disappointing reviews, I thought it can't be that bad, but I was wrong. We ordered the mixed starter which came quite quickly but the food was very salty. After a while we were asked if we ready for the main coarse... which replied that we were. Nothing arrived for a good 20 mins. even after 2 prompts to the waitresses The food described and presented as Chinese but did not taste Chinese. Ordered a takeaway from this restaurant, and it was disgusting!! - Noodles were greasy and left a horrible feeling in my mouth and on my teeth. - Pork dumplings had white lumps of cartilage. - ‘Crispy’ chilli beef was soggy and smelt burnt. What a waste of £30+. Save your money and eat/order from anywhere else!!

We visited this restaurant on a Friday evening having pre booked. The restaurant only had 3 or 4 tables filled for most of our visit. We ordered a mixed hors oeuvres to start. For two people this was priced at £18. It consisted of 3 very small spring rolls, 2 small prawn toast slices, 2 small chicken satay, 5 small ribs and a very small portion of seaweed. It would have been expensive st £9, at £18 it was daylight robbery. We tried to order a bottle of wine from the wine list but were told they didn’t have the wine on the list (any of it) so they brought examples of what they had from which we made our selection. There were a total of 3 serving staff, two young people and a slightly older lady, all seemed to struggle with their English. Our main course arrived, egg fried rice, lemon chicken and sizzling prawn, we were asked if all was ok and I pointed out our order of Singapore noodles hadn’t arrived. This caused some constination but it duly appeared sometime later. Throughout the ordering process and meal it became obvious that none of the serving staff and especially the younger two had a great command of the English language. We didn’t manage to finish the food so I asked for the remnants to be packed in takeaway containers for us, I then asked for the bill. The bill was about £90 including one bottle of wine so quite steep. When settling the bill I reminded the young man that we had asked for the leftovers to be put in a takeaway container. After a minute or two the older lady can over and said our food had been disposed of in error. She did offer to cook us something else but of course we didn’t want to wait around any longer so declined. We didn’t make any fuss. The food was good, the service not acceptable, it was a struggle from the start as the two younger people obviously had a problem with English, we are very patient people but it was a challenge and wasting the food was a shame. For £90 for two people one should expect better service, not a great experience, we probably won’t be back

This establishment in Northwood Hills has always been a goto restaurant for Cantonese food. The restaurant established at least 45 Years ago, provided a high quality, authentic food. My last visit was 4 years ago and now living overseas, this time with family was a special fairwell event. The dining experience I endured with the closest of my family will be the worst I have ever had in a cantonese restaurant. I will take the time to describe and list my grievances and also highlight areas where people new to this food experience should set there expectations. A traditional or even modern Cantonese restaurant have a near constant sound of wok cooking and i should of taken a lack off this as a warning. Another warning not politically correct but true is in all cases a cantonese/mandarin restaurant is always staffed predominantly with staff from the same region. In this case I was greetef by friendly staff with no Cantonese staff at all. The menu presented was not clean or wiped,at this point it's worth commenting on the restaurant as a whole. The original restaurant was set out differently and in comparison to today was warm, inviting and peaceful. What was very noticeable was the handmarks and grease smears over the original wall coverings.... tables were not dressed with cloths, hand napkins low quality and no table decoration. Wait staff were pleasant, young and not well trained. I witnessed a serious spillage over another customers table and the simple things of clearing glasses not being used were not being done. Food within the menu being offered were very westernized in description, with prices which were in midrange. The set menu for 4 had a great number of choices, where the menu for 2 was very limited. Prices for both were high. Prawn crackers served were not freshly made, but were not soft or stale. Duck pancakes were an absolute insult, I have had supermarket packaged versions which were multiple times better than what was served. One of the wait staff attempted to shred the duck and sadly again hadn't been trained to do so. The pancakes were dry, not soft and moist. The duck was of a below average size, which while had flavour, was quite dry. Sauce was from a bottle and vegetables were possibly fresh. I was concerned that we were going to magically receive our main dishes the moment our table was cleared, but the illusion of delay was impressive- giving us doubt that we were In the middle of a terrible meal. At this point I have forgotten the dishes offered in the set menu for 2, briefly it was a garlic prawn and vegetable, stir-fried vegetable, sizzling black bean beef and egg fried rice. The only dish which was of reasonable quality was the beef. It was sizzling when presented, was tender and appeared moist. The black bean was heavily salted- which is the only negative in the dish. Both prawn and vegetable dishes were the same, where one didn't have prawn but replaced with baby corns. Mushrooms were not fresh and im guessing canned and most the vegetable appeared of frozen origin. Egg fried rice, was simply offensive. It tasted like microwave rice, had no good flavour. The manager of course very defensive, saying I was the first to ever complain. (After my visit, the internet searched revealed the truth - I wasn't the first.) She defended her kitchen and then proceeded to ask me how much i was willing to pay as I refused the final bill - we ate less than a third. I ended up paying two thirds, to avoid anymore confrontation. Truth is it wasn't worth £144 or the £100 I gave them, I think anyone with basic cooking skills could make better, with supermarket ingredients for alot less. People within the vicinity of this restaurant, should know that this isn't a cantonese, mandarin or Chinese restaurant. It merely is a cheap copy - I urge everyone who wishes to experience the delights of cantonese/mandarin food to find an establishment,that is staffed by people from the region. Expect to be greeted with warmth and respect. Sit at clean tables which are dressed, be provided with clear menus - preferably written in 2 languages(Generally that of the region and english). There should be noise of woks, attention to detail, and warming family atmosphere. There should be fresh ingredients, dishes which all have unique flavors and rice - well find yourself am authentic restaurant and you'll find out how rice should actually taste. I am deeply saddened that this restaurant has now been reduced to a cheap copy - where clearly there is no attention to detail or authenticity. Only plus is so far there are no signs of food poisoning.. I will amend if it occurs over the next 12 hours.

We haven't been there for several years. We was hoping the atmosphere hadn't changed. Hmm. The restaurant was cold. More open plan now where as before you felt snug. We ate a set menu for 2. What a let down. Overpriced a very little food. I ordered bbq spare ribs as a starter. God what a let down. There small not much meat on them. The Ribs used to be 4 or 5 inches long 2 or 3 inches wide and very meaty. Now nah. The waiter had No idea about the food he was serving. However the waitress was more than helpful. Shredded beef tasty. King prawns and vegetables nice. Crispy duck moist. The wine Rioja fruity and full of flavour. They need too sort there prices and heating out.

On Sunday 18th December my family consisting of 4 adults(2 visiting from abroad and wanted to treat myself and my partner) along with 2 kids wanted to go out for a nice meal. I rang to book a table for 6:30pm. I was told by the lady on the phone it was fully booked until 10pm. Curiosity got the better of me I walked to Northwood Hills(5 min walk from my house) at 6:30pm as you can see from my photo the restaurant is completely empty. We are very disappointed by this as 1. We love their food it’s very good 2. We are frequent visitors and 3. We have spent lots of money over time either in the restaurant or by take away.

Please don’t order online from this restaurant. The order never arrived even 30 mins after the scheduled delivery time. First time I called to follow up I was told that the driver had left the restaurant. I then called 20 mins later and was told the driver had several deliveries and would be at mine Amy minute. I called a 3rd time 10 mins later to cancel my order and was told the driver was outside but clearly wasn’t. Terrible string of excuses. I’m never ordering from this place again nor visiting. Since it changed management a few years ago it’s been diabolical for in house dining as well. Definitely one to avoid !

Booked a table at this restaurant against our better judgement after reading reviews and being told by friends not a great establishment. After booking table, we called to see if possible to add on to booking with another table, we were told they weren’t able to to accommodate the extra numbers to which we replied that’s absolutely fine please leave booking as original one. On arrival we were informed our booking has been cancelled, the owner was extremely rude saying she taken the call and had been told to cancel original booking too. Complete fabrication as I was the one who made the call and said please leave as booking first made. Was extremely unprofessional and told me to prove it!! Needs to improve on her management / customer service skills

What has happened to this Northwood Hills institution? We have been coming here for 40 years and I was looking forward to a takeaway on a recent visit to the area having moved away 2 years ago. Well everything has changed! None of the dishes tasted remotely “chinese”. Chicken in Yellow bean sauce and Hong Kong chow mein had the same flavourless gravy. My Homemade midweek stir-frys have more flavour. The barbecued spare ribs that used to be slow cooked and falling off the bone are now little chewy things. The seaweed has gone from the mixed starter. And the price for the dishes we chose has gone up by £10 compared to the last takeaway menu. Over £50 for a meal for two. I don’t think I’ll be hurrying back!

Tables spread out and plastic dividers between tables, however we were unfortunately positioned on the table right by the door. We did ask to be sat else where as the restaurant was empty but was told no as this was our allocated table. Most tables had sanitiser on, ours didn’t but when we asked we were given some. Unfortunately the sanitiser at the front had run out and wasn’t replaced even though they were notified of this. Food was very nice when it came and waiters were attentive. I would return to this restaurant.

Made us wait for the ‘new’ Indian owner (extra incompetent herself). Loud and rude - blamed us although we had proof of booking. Got our entire family annoyed and very very angry - we got lucky and go out of this mismanaged place. Pathetic and bad new owners - this WAS a legendary restaurant, now its a local joke. Look at all the reviews - locals do not return! They have no care for hospitality!

Underwhelming! Really really beaut interior, although the loud music did feel a bit clubbish, so was a bit let down when the food didnt match expectations. Had an all vegetarian meal, starters were just okay, even had us debating whether to order a much smaller mains or not. We went ahead with mains which were definately better than the starters, but still nothing to rave about. One good thing about mains is the number of different combinations you could have between main ingredient and sauce, although not sure how they all taste. Veg singapore noodles, bean curd in black bean sauce were good. Dont think ill be coming back here really, and glad we did this meal during the ‘eat out to help out’ scheme so a lot was knocked off the bill.

Mandarin used to be truly genuine Chinese from decorations, staffs, service, communication to food. Very well known locally and surroundings for it's authenticity but now it is talk of the town for how the new Indian ownership and management screwed it up. So many regulars are refusing to eat from the new Mandarin, more and more have agree and turned their backs to find alternatives. I was also a regular customer as eat in and takeaway for quick lunch/dinner, families, friends and business use for large parties.I knew the old owner and the management also got to know the new owner for a little and no management. I have waited a while to see if they would learn to change but only got worse with qualities, delays, over priced, dishonesty and basic hygiene problems. So for the 1st time review ever I am here to confirm and share my terrible experience.

We visited the restaurant for the first time after moving into the area. The food was really tasty! We had salt and chilli tofu, aromatic duck wraps, the schezuan chicken which was so tasty and spicy (just how I like it), garlic rice and vegetarian Singapore noodles which were packed full of vegetables! We met the owner and our waiter, Rahul, who were so helpful and kind. They talked to us about the area and the restaurant, and were generally very personable and welcoming.Cannot fault the food or service.The restaurant looks great, had all the measures to make it a safe space with social distancing, alcohol gel, temperature checks and funky new panels between each table suspended from the ceilings. Very trendy looking restaurant.Will definitely be a regular restaurant we visit in the area.

I couldn’t believe we had never ordered from here before.The tofu in black bean sauce was cooked to perfection, the garlic rice could have been more favourable but the hot & sour soup was the best I’ve ever tasted, everything was hot and was within wait time.Second time takeaway the bar had been set high. It did not not disappoint although the tofu was slightly tougher and the actual dish was just warm enough to not be cold which was a pity as last time was so perfect.We ordered a large veg spring roll which was absolutely delicious. Overall I am very impressed with the Mandarin and will definitely order again.

I called and was fobbed off that they would send complementary food. When the food actually arrived and being charged £68 we received 5 items. Our original order did not come. We ordered a takeaway from there which they said would be 1 hour. Once it got to 2 hours we called up to cancel it as it was taking to long and we needed food for my disabled 80 year old grandma. They wouldn’t allow us to cancel it and put the phone down on us. We had already prepaid so this was very annoying. At around 2 hours 40 minutes the manager turns up ins Porsche as if nothing has happened, saying “we did our best”. We then asked for the refund but she just walked off. We have orders from here many times before and ate in. This order was over £60 so not exactly cheap either. We will get our money back one way or another!

Ordered a take away at 7pm tonight eta was 8pm, then time changed to 8.45 by 9pm I called to be told it would be another hour at least. In these awful times if you can’t cope don’t take orders. Local Indian delivers spot on time all staff out delivering!!!

Really bad experience. Food taste horrible.the egg fried rice was just rice mix with a pseudo omelette. My prawns were smimming in a sea of glutamate. If the chef is Chinese,I am Winston Churchill.The owner can argue but if you know real chinese cuisine,you will understand what I m seeing. If you don't want to waste your time and your money just look for a Real chinese restaurant.

If I had wanted to go for a Chinese playing lowd garage music I would have gone to a club in London. Restaurant under new owners and completely renovated and in my view dreadful. The food was just ok and the service well over the top. I had been here many times before and it was fine, but now, I would never go back.

Seeing as the restaurant looks very nice, I expected so much more. My friend calamari was so rubbery that my husband and I couldn’t even taste them as they were hard to bite through. Crispy duck was nice but the spring onion and cucumber tasted like they’d been sitting there for a while; definitely were days old!! Our mains made up for the disastrous starters, however we will not be returning to eat here!

I have visited the mandarin many times with family and I’ve always loved it. However, I knew it’d been taken over by new management so didn’t know what to expect. It was just as good... if not better! I have recently become vegetarian and I don’t know if this was the case before as I always had meat but there were so many delicious veggie options! They pretty much had veggie alternatives for everything: veggie chicken satay, veggie prawn toast and even veggie duck to go with the pancakes! I was amazed! My family always order a set meal with five different courses and it mainly consisted of meat so one member of staff, Poona, spoke to me separately, asked me what I liked etc and for every course brought me my own plate of food!! Honestly the best service I’ve had in a while! Poona really was amazing - if you see this thank you again! I was so easy going with having the same thing twice etc but she was not having it and wanted to try out new ideas: pak choi in garlic sauce, tofu with cashew nuts and vegetable chow mein etc - all were delicious! There was so much food - one would’ve been enough - but she brought out five different dishes so my family tucked in and enjoyed them too! A few of my friends are veggie and vegan so I want to take them here soon! Highly recommend the mandarin and the number and quality of the veggie options really did blow me away! Thank you again for your brilliant service and especially to Poona!

I have ordered takeaway from this restaurant and after waiting 2 hr to get the ordered delivered i called them and they lies that nobody answered the door . apparently the driver was at the door for 10 min and than left after ringing the doorbell. we were looking at the window all the time waiting for the food as we were hungry after work, we don’t have a doorbell and we have a camera and checked and nobody was at the door to deliver anything! So we called them : first they said order is 5 min away, than 20 min after said the driver was in uxbridge, third time they said the driver was there ! So poor communication and customer service ! I asked for a refund they said go to Just eat - called just eat and said the restaurant marked it as complete and delivered so they can’t do anything so obviously the restaurant is lying. We are here 3 hr and still no food they said they can’t make a refund and they will redeliver!So we said ok fine just redeliver so we waited and after 20 mi. we called the restaurant again! They said the driver left and they can not redeliver ! How can they make us wait again! So we had to go to collect the order ourselves otherwise the guy said I have to call his manager the next day and explain everything again ! I wasted my time and if I got the wrong information from one person 5 times how can I trust to call next day especially that order was marked as completed!So they are lying as either their driver didn’t go to the right address (we gave the right address with right postcode) or he never came at the door as he doesn’t appear on the camera- basically they make us feel stuppid in the face.This was the poorest service that we ever received from a restaurant! Very disappointing! They could have had another way to deal with this we are not fussy people and very understandable as long as we are not lied too! We could have gone and collected the order in the first instance if they would speak up the truth!

The food quality is very poor. The cook definitely does not taste this food before sending it out. I have never returned food before in my life but a combination of the food being not fresh, stingy portioned and overpriced meant I felt utterly ripped off. To make a bad situation worse I had to experience the patronising and rude manageress who, when I returned the food to the restaurant, felt it was appropriate, to defend the food by speaking to me over the phone. Whilst not being present to see or taste the food, she proceeded to talk over me as I tried to explain my experience. Without seeing or tasting the food, she told me I was wrong and not speaking the truth. When I explained that the chilli beef was so hot it burnt my mouth, she told me I should have ordered sweet and sour chicken. Nothing I enjoy more than being patronised by an ignorant utter stranger. I have eaten this dish made by many different establishments who made it deliciously as it was competently and freshly made.She then accused me for criticising food that the chef had lovingly and tirelessly prepared all day. All day? I thought food was made fresh to order. And there you have it. The 3 dishes I returned were congealed and inedible. There were no staff on duty to process a refund so I had no choice but to return the following evening when the woman in question was on duty. When I returned she made no defending comments so I can only assume she tasted the 3 dishes I returned. She made no apology what so ever. And if she had ever bothered to read other Trip Advisor reviews, she would know that I am not alone in thinking the food quality poor and overpriced. To be fair, there also reviews from others possibly used to not eating good quality food, who praise the food. However, a common theme amongst most reviews is the terribly unacceptable service and no wonder as this place is atrociously managed by a person ill equipped to work in a service industry. Is appropriate to treat your clientele with so much disdain that you call them a defamatory word as they leave your business? For truly delicious and freshly cooked Chinese food in Northwood, only go to Tai Pan where you will be treated with courtesy.

On arrival we were informed that there was a wait of 40 minutes for food after ordering, even though there weren't that many people in the restaurant. We couldn't be bothered to find somewhere else at short notice so said this was OK.Our order was taken quickly, and the food arrived shortly afterwards - certainly not a long enough wait for them to pre-empt a complaint. We had smoked shredded chicken, some salt and chilli ribs and some crispy seaweed for starters. The food was quite good, although the chicken and ribs were both garnished with the same spring onion, salt and sliced red chilli mix so both tasted similar, and the seaweed was a very small portion.Crispy peking duck arrived shortly after the starters were finished. Shredded at the table by the waiter who dropped quite a lot on the table, not a real problem but I wasn't expecting him to simply pick it up and put it back on the plate with his fingers. We had a half duck, and there wasn't really enough spring onion/cucumber salad or pancakes.Mains didn't take long after the duck, we'd ordered crispy shredded chilli beef, char sui chow mein and green beans in sea spicy sauce. Clearly the food had been ready a while because two of the dishes were cold. The other dish wasn't what we ordered - mixed stir fried veg arrived in place of the chow mein. When we told the waitress she told us we were wrong, before changing her mind and taking the food away.After a short wait the food arrved back with us, this time the beef and the chow mein wre correct, but the green beans had mysteriously morphed into green beans in garlic sauce. We couldn't face sending it back and potentially losing the chilli beef so just accepted it.The manager(?) did come and offer a free drink to apologise for the mix up, but we had a full bottle of wine and said "maybe later". The food was quite good, but for main courses the portions weren't huge, especially the noodles which you'd have though would be the largest of the plates but it was smaler than the appetizers.The free drinks weren't offered when we paid the bill. If I'd been paying the bill I'd have asked for the service charge to be removed. All in all the food was quite good, but really not good enough to excuse the service which was, frankly, amateurish.

We called after 50 minutes to find out how much longer it would be and was told another 5 minutes. 15 minutes later we called again to be told it would be another 5 minutes. Still no order, we called again and they informed us it would be another 30 minutes - 9pm on a Sunday night. Had they informed us of how long it would be we could have ordered from somewhere else. Won’t be ordering again, hygiene rating isn’t great and I believe they have a rat problem.

First time spontaneously came across this restaurant. Great selection of Vegetarian dishes.Loved the Vegetarian Chicken in black bean sauce.The starter - Vegetarian crispy aromatic duck with pancakes just so tasty!One dish was enough to serve 2. Great portion size.Loved the meal so much went back a few days later for lunch. They open in the weekday from 5pm. I didn't realize at the time and to my amazement the owner Puna welcomed us in at lunch and gave the most amazing warm and welcoming service even though was not fully open. Again great tasting food and great service .Will be going back with more friends

We visited yesterday for the first time since it’s gone under new management. We ordered Soups first. The tom yum soup was smelly and it tasted weird (no where near the usual Tom yum soup).Whilst we were Waiting for the main course, we received someone else’s order mistakenly on our table by the staff. The smell and sight of that food changed Our minds to eat there. We couldn’t feel Like eating there anymore. The staff did not show any empathy when we cancelled the order and we’re leaving the restaurant. After preciously walking by and being impressed with the decor, we decided to give this place a try, and went with another couple, who'd had take away from there before.The decor is very impressive, but it was rather quiet for 8pm on a Saturday night.Drinks were reasonably priced, but service was slow. The waiter didn't seem to understand the request for a gin and tonic, and took too long to deliver a straw. Also, and this was a big bugbear, drinks were served two at a time by hand. Drinks should be served on a tray!! This included glasses of tap water. It's a small thing but symptomatic of service issues.Turning to the menu, we ordered 4 starters, which were all decent enough. We had sesame prawn toast, bbq spare rib, chilly and salt broccoli and chilly and salty prawns. With the latter two, a little more kick to the taste would have made them better.The best part of the meal was the half crispy duck for 4 (priced at £22.50). Quite full by this point, we had another round of drinks and then ordered two mains and two portions of egg friend rice.The deep friend chilly chicken was too sweet, with hardly a hint of chilly. The sizzling chicken in black bean sauce could have had more of a kick. The rice was nice.Hot towels were provided at the end, and the bill wasn't too bad.My biggest criticism however is with the menu. It's simply too big and whenever a restaurant has too many options, I wonder about the quality of the offerings. They could cut it down by 30% and nobody would notice. It was also quite amateurish in its presentation, with numbered dishes, not in sequential order.If Mandarin wants to attract customers away from nearby Taipan and Peking Garden, it needs to sort out the menu, improve the service and give the food a bit more taste.

This place must be under new ownership. The decor has been done really well and looks very modern.Food: Overall the food was very nice. Especially the Chicken Satay! They even have mock chicken and mock duck options for vegetarians/vegans.Prawn crackers were a little too greasy.Service: Almost non-existant. 5 minutes to be seated even though the restaurant was practically empty when we arrived. Didn't bring us a jag of water along with the cocktails as requested. Asked the waiter for a Bombay Sapphire Gin and Tonic and he walked off saying "OK, Hendricks Gin and Tonic" so I had to go off and correct him. Whenever we wanted something it was very difficult to get the staff's attention and had to end up going to the bar to pay the bill. To top it off, the Hendricks was included on the bill instead of the Bombay Sapphire gin which is cheaper, and was charged for an extra tonic. For some reason I still payed the service charge despite the terrible service.Drinks: Only order standard drinks here. The cocktails are terrible. Hardly any alcohol in them and use the cheapest watered down juices.

I have read several low rated reviews here which is why I have avoided this restaurant since it's revamp.I did however on impulse order a take-away last week and was pleasantly surprised with the quality of the food. I made the order on Just Eat and called the restaurant to ask if they could deliver any sooner as it was getting late- I presume I spoke to the manager who said she would arrange delivery herself within 30 mins. Ordered some 'mock' chicken dishes which were actually very tasty, adding a bit of spice to sauces wouldn't be a bad thing for this restaurant as across the board everything was a bit too sweet for me. However, vegetable noodles, vegetable fried rice, sweet and sour king prawns, mock chicken, salt and pepper broccoli tasted great and you could tell it was made fresh as it was piping hot when it first arrived. I wish the new owners good luck, clearly the reviews suggest service within the restaurant needs to improve and so i would hope they would heed that advice. Will be ordering again in the future!

I used to live in Pinner and used to visit The Mandarin 30 years ago. Booked a table with family on Saturday evening and was very pleased to see that it has been refreshed and still as lovely as ever. The staff were helpfuland the food was fabulous. It came out hot and all together. The manager took the time to talk to us and dealt with a small issue swiftly and without incident, so thank you. Will definitely be returning again.

Been here loads of times in the past and most recently last year we thought we would give it another go booked a table for 3 when we arrived we were asked if we had booked the restaurant was dead only one table in use so we thought ok I guess they have to ask after 20 mins we were asked again very strange ordered our starters because there were 3 of us we asked how the chicken satay came 2 3 or 4 piece we were told by the waitress just 2 so we ordered 2 portions also took our order for the mains I wanted a sweet and sour sce extra with our main meal....waited 5 mins mins then the sweet and sour sce came out after another 10 mins got our starter I said to the manager I had ordered the sce with our main meal they took it away then brought the starters out we had 2 portions of chicken satay with three on each when we told the manager we ordered two lots coz as we were told there were only two he just said it Varys because the size of the chicken strange as they were all the same size not once did anyone come up and ask how our food was so mains arrive minus the sweet and sour sce so I ask were it is it came out but was stone cold probably the one I had earlier told the waitress to take away she disappeared then brought it out a few mins later like warm. The funny thing is the food was nice the service was poor staff didn’t look approachable and to be fair there was no standard uniform no music in the back ground it didn’t feel like we were in a Chinese restaurant real shame plus the dishes were a bit on the pricey side won’t be rushing back in a hurry

Staff were horrendously rudeand ignorant. Staff ignored the empty plates and bottles on the table, not clearing the table in time for the next round of food. Food turning up when others had finished. RUINED MOTHERS DAY!!! They then had the cheek to charge £30 service charge. Disgusting and highly recommend that you DO NOT go here!

Nice food, but very poor service. I would say at least two waiters/waitresses short on a predictably very busy evening (Mothering Sunday). The main courses started to arrived before the starter was finished, without any attempt to clear the table and provide new crockery. Almost impossible to get the staff's attention to order additional drinks: anyone would think they were paying for them rather than the customers.We will stick to takeaways if we use The Mandarin again.

My family have been coming here for at least 25 years. This was our first visit since the changeover of managers.Food was amazing. Best Chinese around!But the service was disappointing throughout the evening, from forgetting dishes and drinks to an inability to smile! And no fortune cookies at the end(!!) Food was fantastic! Vegetarian friendly with quick service. My husband and I have often gone by this place, but the beautifully lit tree caught our eye from outside and we gave it a try. We weren’t dissspointed! Not sure I agree with other reviews. Definitely didn’t taste like indian food, I’d know, as I am indian! Also the chef was quite clearly Chinese! Honestly speaking I’m not concerned with the owners coming over to talk to me asking me how I am etc...I’m out for dinner, to spend time with whoever I’m with, not he owner of a restaurant. However, that being said, she was lovely! So friendly and genuine. Would definitely recommend and have already booked our next meal with a group of 10! Looking forward to our next meal there!

We turned up as a group of 4, and they would not let us take our pre-booked table as our friend was in a wheelchair. We were absolutely stunned and shocked.They would not budge, saying we should have told them a member of our party was in a wheelchair.We will be taking this further.We will never re-visit whilst the current owners are in charge.We went the week before and the food tasted like Indian food, not Chinese. We have been going to Mandarin for almost 10 years and decided to return after many months as it has been recently renovated and under new management.The décor is lovely without a doubt, I cannot say the same for the new management and staff. Very disappointing that the manager did not come over to talk to us and ask us if this was our first visit or otherwise … the only interaction we had with her when we asked one of the waitresses for toffee banana and icecream- the waitress looked at in despair and said I have to check if they have it .... come on this is a chinese restaurant, you might want to hire some authentic Chinese employees as your current staff are not familiar with the menu …The manager then came over and confirmed our order of toffee banana and ice cream - and that was it it.... there was no other introduction or any questions about us I agree with some other writers, the Mandarin has lost its authencity,and the warmth of friendliness -i don't think we will ever be returning -

Booked for Valentine's evening over the phone a few day prior, when we arrived we was told very abruptly that we hadn't booked, which I replied I had I booked over the phone a few days ago, .. and she told me I was a liar !! Had an early evening meal. Starter platter with ribs, seaweed, chicken satay, veg rolls, sesame prawn toast, all good, particularly the prawn toast.Followed this with Tom Yum soup, ribs with chilli and salt, green beans with chilli, chicken stir fry, pork chow mein. The green beans were a real star, we asked for extra chilli on all the chilli dishes, this was a good move, they all came alive!Another star was Vali (Yali?) the Italian waiter, very helpful, polite, charming.

I ordered a takeaway after agreeing to pay 3.00 delivery charge and a few additional charges my order was rejected after looking online it says no minimum order when I rang and asked why they said because my order was only 17.00 well when we all lived at home our weekly spend there was 50 to 79 at least for 7 years no customer loyalty very greedy

Ordered a range of dishes including fried rice, squid, aubergine, seaweed and beef. All food was delicious, very flavourful, and delivered piping hot. We've been ordering from Eatwell for many years, and have always been very happy with the food and service. Definitely our go-to place! Salt and chili squid is my personal favourite. Thank you Eatwell!

Nice casual night out. Always full of people and always good food. reasonable prices. The staff are always very pleasant, quick to serve and accommodating.
