Called in today 4/2/24 at lunchtime, hadnโt booked but even though they were very busy they kindly squeezed us in. We had the beef roast and it was all delicious, all fresh and huge portions. Cannot fault it, very friendly staff, great atmosphere and dog friendly. Our dog was very pleased that we brought the leftovers home, all nicely boxed up by the chef.

Another visit to the Rolls and a day when the weather was okay. They had done us a deal to help through a day of torrential rain in April. Let's deal with the course, the first 2 holes are average but welcome you to the other 16. The other 16 have some really interesting greens matched with some difficult fareways. Some greens take alot of reading so take your time and some holes need to be played a couple of times before you realise where you should be going. I've played (or walked) the front 9 so now my way fairly well but no idea on the back 9. The course is an ideal society course to test those handicaps but I'm afraid my HI does stand up to being tested on here at the moment. Clubhouse : this is where I have a problem! The course is well worth revisiting but guys !! I want a shower in a decent area when I've finished! Not good enough. The catering and bar was excellent, with one particular member of staff running about dealing with every problem a large group (28) had, people arriving late, the organiser busy, etc The Pro shop: very good, the only improvement would be, tell me where I'm going wrong! All taken into account, take your day out, Captains away day, society, etc here it's definitely worth it (Rolls please improve the showers)

Lovely little pub on the corner ๐ great view of the river and a great suntrap. Mark and Jane the owners are really lovely and Mark came and sat with us for a while making us feel at home. It is definitely a place you need to visit. They do food on a Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday. The service is excellent even though it was extremely busy both days we went but that was because they have a exceptional barman who is also always smiling.

The staff are amazing, we spent a brilliant night there on Sunday, one of our best ever on our weekend trips. Thoroughly recommend it if you like real pubs - Iโm told the beers are excellent! Not the greatest welcome ever experienced in a pub. Quite a small pub and as it was raining and the only place to sit inside was round the corner from the bar that's where we sat. I went round to order at the bar and the landlady/bar person muttered 'oh you're sat in the restaurant', so left me thinking I had done something wrong but as there was a sign saying the kitchen was closed and there was no reserved sign on the table, not sure what was wrong!? I carried on in an attempt to make some small talk while the drinks were poured but didn't get a friendly response so shut up and walked off asap with the drinks. Been here before and it was nice, won't rush back.

Sad to leave a poor review but I ordered the cheese and onion sandwich (for almost ยฃ10 btw) and received the blandest food Iโve ever had. There was also no onion in this sandwich which was absolutely packed with cheese to the point I couldnโt eat it. Now, donโt get me wrong, I bloody love cheese, but this was the equivalent of eating an entire block of cheese sandwiched between 2 soggy, buttery, pieces of bread. I only managed 2 bites before I gave up. My boyfriend didnโt have a much better experience with his sandwich (the Brie and cranberry) Chips were great ๐๐ป

Lovely pub in a prominent position at the top of the hill on Wye Street. Surprisingly small inside, so definitely worth booking if youโre planning to eat. Booked a table for eight people on a Saturday evening and we all loved the food and friendly service. Most people had fish as this is their specialty, although I had gammon. Portion sizes are very generous but also great quality; I doubt if many could manage a starter, main and dessert. The small area out front is a sun trap and very popular with the locals and passers by. Managed to get a seat there for drinks on another occasion, enjoying the views and evening sunshine. This pub, and the Hope & Anchor, are standout pubs in the area. This place wins on food but the other wins if you want to be riverside. Nevertheless both great.

We spent the weekend in Ross and walked from the caravan park up through the town to look for somewhere to eat. On reaching the top of town we noticed this little pub with tables outside. No problem accommodating us with our dog. It was getting quite busy even at early lunchtime but we found a nice table tucked at the back of the restaurant area. Plenty of choice for veggies and pescatarians like us. My son and I both had the double decker sandwiches with chips and they were enormous!! Very tasty too! Hubby had the Florentine fish cakes on noodles which he said was different but very nice indeed. Friendly welcome. Will definitely return when back in Ross on Wye.
